  • Bought a MacBook Pro middle of 6 days ago. Will I get Lion for free?

Someone bought me a MacBook Pro six days ago whilst they were in America, and now Lion is out. I heard that if you'd bought a computer after the announcement date you'd get Lion for free when it was released. Is that true?

Yes you can get Lion for free. Instructions are on this page.  http://www.apple.com/macosx/uptodate/

  • Can i upgrade the new OS X Lion for free if i bought my MacBook pro 13" around Apr 2011 in store?

Hi eveyone,i just check online that you are entitle for a free upgrade to new OS X Lion  if you buy a mac book pro from June to July 2011. Can i upgrade the new OS X Lion for free if i bought my MacBook pro 13" around Apr 2011 in store?

When it says on Apples website that it runs from june - july 2011, I seriously doubt you can get it for free when you bought it already in April.
    Cheers

  • I got my MBP on june 16 so how can i get lion for free?

i got my macbook pro for birthday and i read that if you purchased it after june 6th you can get lion for free but how do i do that?

The wording on this page seems convoluted to me:
"Users must request their Up-to-Date upgrade within 30 days of purchase of their Mac computer. Customers who purchase a qualifying Mac between June 6, 2011 and the date when Lion is available in the Mac App Store will have 30 days from Lion’s official release date to make a request."
If I purchased my shiny new Macbook Pro on June 11, according to the first part of the statement, I must request my Up-to-Date upgrade by July 11, yet the second part of the statement states I will have 30 days from Lion's official release date to make my request.
I am hoping the second statement is the correct one. It would be helpful if Apple fixed this inconsistency...

  • Bought new laptop - get lion for free on SL mini?

As I understand it - If I were to have bought Lion from the app store, I would be allowed to install it on all of my authorized computers. (right?)
So anyways, I haev a Mac Mini, with SL on it.  I recently bought a MBA, with Lion on it.  Can I somehow get Lion authorized so that I can get it installed on my mini?

  • Printing to a Windows shared printer, keep getting "Hold for Authentication" when I'm on the Windows shared network and can browse the computers.

I have had two MacBook Pros now, and this has been an issue in Mountain Lion and Mavericks. I've got a shared printer on the local Windows network (it's a USB printer shared via the network and the computer), and the other Windows computers in the house can print to it no problem. The Mac sees it no problem, yet whenever I try to print to it, I just get "Hold for Authentication."
Like I said, persists over Mountain Lion and Mavericks. No other computer in the house has any issues printing to it. I've installed the drivers for the printer as well (Brother HL-2240).
I've tried to follow the instructions here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/23268762#23268762 but the printer isn't listed in Keychain Access.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance!

Well, that isn't too useful. Try this instead: Adding a printer shared by a Windows computer via SMB/CIFS.

  • Get Lion for free

i'm trying to go through the free lion form and its asking me for the payment method even though it's free and i don't have a card number to put in there! please help, thanks

If you have a redemption code because you bought a new machine, use that. Otherwise, why do you think it's free? Or have you downloaded and paid for it previously? Then it should work with the same ID.

  • Bought Lion when I was supposed to get it for free..

I bought my MacBook Pro after June 6 and was supposed to get Lion for free. When Lion came out, I didn't know how to go about that, so I got it from the App Store thinking there would be something I had to enter from my receipt and that's how I'd get it for free. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case, so my account was docked $30. As I was waiting for it to download, I found how I was supposed to redeem my free upgrade, and cancelled the upgrade. Now, I don't have Lion, and I'm out $30. Does anyone know how I can get the money back? Thanks!

Probably be at least 3 business days before you receive a response.
Explain exactly what happened like you did in your post here and hopefully they'll get it straightened out for you so you can install Lion and receive a refund.

  • Can I upgrade to Mac Lion for free again?

    Hi
I bought my Macbook Pro in June 2011, and beacse I bought it between a certian timeframe, I was able to upgrade to OS X lion for free from the app store durring a promo or something. All I had to do was put in my Mac serial number to confirm it was right.
I sort of wnat to restore my laptop back....however, that will make it go back to leapord, not lion.
I was wondering if there would be some way to re-get lion for free? I know with other aplications, on the iPhone anyway, you can simply click 'buy now' and it says you already had it once, so you can get it again for free... but since I never paid for this, will it make me?
Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated.
