Who hears the audible annoying 'pop' out the left side every 5 min or so?

This is making me bonkers, since it is becoming predictible popping.
This is my 2nd unit with the same fan noise, although 3db quieter than the original which also had this popping every 4-6 minutes, but much more pronounced.
Can anyone else report this 'phenomenom' on their 20" unit also? The 17" iSight models seem a different breed and are quieter (volume of cooling box).
I have heard others with silent fan(s) and no pops, so I know it is achievable. A friend just purchased 2 of these at my suggestion, and I am envious of how quiet and popless and flawless both of his are performing.
Please spend the time to reply.
Thank you !
iMac iSight 20" - October 2005 Mac OS X (10.4.3)

No popping here with my 20" iMac (iSight). My unit is very quiet, with only faint fan noise (which is expected) audible upon close range listening. I had a mini, and although the iMac isn't that quiet, it's the quietest computer with some power I've ever owned.

The left side of my mini ipad is unresponsive.  Is there a fix for this hardware issue without costing me an arm and a leg?

If it's in warranty and a defect then it's covered under your warranty. If it was the result of user negligence, then it will not be covered. In that case see below:
If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.

  • Safari icon Pops up on the left side of the dock, how to turn it off

I'm constantly getting this icon popping up on the left side of my Dock on my iMac at work.
When clicking the Safari icon, it will open a webpage where one of my colleges is working on.
How can I turn it off because it constantly shifts the icons  on my dock to the right and when it
disappears after about 3 second everything moves again to the left. This is happening about
a couple of times a minute and it drives me crazy.

You and your colleague are both signed in to the same Apple ID account, and both using Handoff. One should sign out and sign in with a different ID.

  • IPod shuffle not allowing me to hear the left earpiece

I've tried three different earphones. When the earphones are completely plugged in, I cannot hear the left earpiece. When I pull the connector slightly out I am able to hear from the left earpiece, but then the right one stops working. Is there any way to fix this? Do I need to buy a new iPod shuffle?
    Thanks,
    Brad

Given that refurb 2nd Gen shuffles are $39 at online Apple Store and NEW ones are $49 everywhere they're sold it's probably not worth trying to fix what might very well be a broken connector inside the shuffle. For more information, go to ifixit.com and peruse the guide for 1st Gen shuffle...

  • How to I make pop up windows go back to the left side of the screen when they are moving to the right?

Whenever I click on a link, a new window pops up. That's good, that's what I wanted. They've always opened on the left side of the screen. However, they are now opening in the middle of the screen. This has happened before and the screen eventually opened completely on the right. Last time this happened, I ended up having to delete something. I don't remember what, but it solved the issue. Please help!

Put your install DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) and reboot. Be sure to either use the disc that came with your Mac, or, if you installed a later Mac OS X version from disc, use the newer disc. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option Key until the Install Disk shows up) until the apple shows up. That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it. When it comes up is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is, then click on the Mac OS partition of your hard drive in the left hand list. Then select the First Aid Tab and run Repair Disk. The Repair Disk button won't be available until you've clicked on the Mac OS partition on your hard drive. If that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions. After repairing use Startup Disk from the same menu to choose your hard drive for restarting from your hard drive.
If your hard drive isn’t recognized in Disk Utility then your hard drive is probably dead.

  • Can't hear the other side

Hello, A user has problem with Skype. She can't hear the other side anymore. It has always worked and now it doesn't work anymore. Reinstalled skype latest version and installed latest audio driver.  Still no audio. We can hear the startup sound of Skype but when I do an echo test we can't hear anything. If I look at the audio mixer I see that there is audio with the audio bar but hear nothing. Windows audio is working normaly. Is this a known issue? John

Try restarting your iPhone by holding down the on/off and the home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo.

  • How do I stop the side bar from popping up in the left side of my screen when I click on a bookmark on my tool bar?

I just got a new laptop, and redownloaded mozilla as my browser. I've set up my tool bar tabs but when I click them they only appear on the left side bar when I click them. This didn't happen before on my previous laptop, so I'm confused on how to get it to stop opening the sidebar when I click them, and have them instead appear in my main window.

Opening in the sidebar is the default for bookmarks that are created via a link or button on a website.
You can check the properties of a bookmark via the right-click context menu in the sidebar (Ctrl+B; Command+B on Mac).
In the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks) you can click the More button in the Details pane at the bottom right.
Make sure that "Load this bookmark in the sidebar" is not selected.

  • Click wheel ipod only plays Audio out of the left side

When i plug my ipod in through the dock conection there is only audio from the left side.ie... when in the car, when pluged in a made for ipod docking boom box..... and it does not look like there is any damage to the guts of the dock conection
    ibook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

That indicates a problem with the headphone jack. I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. If the iPod is defective, within warranty and not abused Apple will exchange it at no cost.

  • Something's wrong with my headphone jack, it only plays the left side!!

I know it's not my headphones, cause I've tried 4 different ones, one of them new, and it''s always the left side that's the only working side. If I wiggle the headphones in the jack, the right side will cut in and out. This just happened today, I have no idea why. I didn't drop it, or get it wet or anything, I have no idea what couldv'e caused it. I've had the iPod since the beginning of this year, I don't think I registered it or got a warrenty or anything, I'm not sure how'd I'd check though. Can Apple fix this or can I fix it myself or what would you guys suggest? Thanks.

That happened with me also when I bought my skull candy headphones(iPods headphones hurt my ears). My headphones also worked for a while and then went to a point where I could only hear out of one side. I finally reverted back to the iPods headphones. I just stuck with the original headphones. Maybe I'll buy some of their more comfortable ones.
Also try not winding your headphone cord around the iPod too tightly. I looked somewhere else and someone said that that could be the problem. If you do wrap the excess cord around the iPod, try wrapping them around not as tight. I tried that and I got some extra life out of my old headphones. I would probably still be wearing them if I hadn't stepped on the jack and bent them.
I'm sorry that this is so long. Hope this helped.
