Who is connected to my Airport Express?

I have downloaded the Airport Admin Utility, and was wondering how I could find out which computers are connected to my Airport. I know this is easy with a regular router, where the MAC-adresses of every computer is shown. Is this possible with Airport? And if not, why the **** not?!

  • I want to know who's connected to my airport express

Is there any way I can monitor who is using my connection?, I already downloaded Airport Management Tools, and where is says Monitor I can see 2 number with checkboxs that look like this
    00:11:24......
    00:19:C5......
Does it mean I have 2 people using my connection?
If so how can I disconnect them
I already have the airport with passwords and everything

These are, most likely, the MAC addresses of your AirPort Express Base Station.
A MAC (media access control) address is a unique hardware identification number for a network port. AirPort Express has two MAC addresses: one for the wired Ethernet port and one for the wireless Ethernet port. The wireless MAC address is also known as the AirPort ID.
Although, you can use MAC Access Control to restrict which devices, by MAC address, that can access your base station, this technique is not truly secure as MAC addresses can be spoofed. You best defense is to use WPA or WPA2 encryption.

  • How can I see who is connected to my Airport Express? Airport utility does not provide it

    Dear community,
I'm highly surprised by the difficulties to find a simple request… I look on the web, and find some old topic about it, suggesting "Airport Management Tool" which is the old version of the Airport utility on my OSX 10.8.5, so I cannot install it. I have the lasted Airport utiity firmware and software (6.3.1).
I'm pretty sure Apple have a simple way to do it, without downloading any extra software.
Thank you for your time, I hope you can help me out.
    Best regards !

Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utillty
Hold down the option key on your Mac while you double click on the icon of your Apple router
A list of currently connected wireless devices will be displayed
Click the arrow next to each device to reveal more infomation about the device

  • Knowing how many people is connected to my airport express

I have an airport express and is encrypted how ever I would like to know how many people is connected to it, is this posible?

I would like to see things like who's connected to my airport express, and whether the airport has been able to get an IP address from the DSL modem, and so on.
Can the airport management tools do this? I tried installing the version linked from www.apple.com/support/airport, but got the error "This application requires Airport 3.4 or later." However, I've installed Airport 4.2 already.
Is the shareware Airport Monitor Utility the only way to go for this? I had a hard time interpreting a lot of the information it was giving me...
thanks in advance for the reply,

  • Connecting computers via Airport Express

I have a problem that I've been trying to solve, but so far nothing has worked.
I have three Macs, 2 G4 PowerBooks and an iMac (Core 2 Duo) which are all connected via an Airport Express. All of the computers can access the net and my printer just fine. The iMac can connect to both of the G4s, and one of the G4s can connect to both the iMac and the other G4. The problem is that one of the G4s can only connect to the other G4, not the iMac. It's as though the iMac does not exist for it's purposes. Yet I can connect to that G4 from the iMac, just not the other way around.
Any clues as to a fix for this would be greatly appreciated.

That is what you want to select.
You jumped into the middle of this thread. What
    problem do you have?
More to the point - what is YOUR problem...I think your response was a little rude...
One who has common sense can see what issue I am having simply by looking at the subject of the original post - and reading my entire post.
For your benefit, the subject is: Problems Connecting Two Computers to Cable Modem via AirPort Express.
If you read my post again, you will see that after following the advice given by Rj, I am still having problems. I will not re-post my question. Simply restating things in this post has been a waste of time.

  • Intel iMac Not Connecting to My Airport Express

I have had a 15" G4 Powerbook for about 1 1/2 years now and have not had any problems with my Airport Express. I purchased an Intel iMac back in February and everything has been working perfectly until about two weeks ago. (I think this may coincide with the update 10.4.9).
At first, the Airport would not connect at all after being put into sleep, either if I let it sit or pushed the button myself. I would have to restart to get it to work. Now, whenever I attempt to connect to my Airport Express it says there is an error and only gives the options of trying again or just clicking OK. If I try again it does nothing, but if I click okay the Airport card in my iMac seems to go down completely and I am unable to see ANY wireless networks at all! It comes back eventually and automatically connects to an unsecure network somewhere else in my apartment building, but if I try to connect back to my Airport Express the same thing happens again.
The odd part is that my Powerbook connects flawlessly, and also sets up the Airport Express if I reset it (something the iMac will not do). I have read through some of the threads and see there is an issue with the release of 10.4.9, but my Powerbook has it as well and doesn't have any issues.
I also have Vista premium installed and that has absolutely no problems connecting to the network either, which is irksome every time I see a PC vs Mac ad.
I have tried a couple of the remedies offered up: deleting the SystemPreferences folder in the Library (couldn't find it), creating a new location (didn't work), and reinstalling OSX (worked for a day after the 10.4.9 update).
If there is anyone with similar problems who has found a solution, please let me know, as I don't really like using someone elses network, but don't really have a choice if I need to use my iMac. Thank you for your help.

    Hello sgraziano,
I suggest taking a look at this article named iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398.
Follow these steps to troubleshoot the above issues.
Be sure that you are in range of your Wi-Fi router (access point).
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and then on again. If unable to do so, see this article.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and Cable or DSL modem are connected to power, turned on, and indicate that they are connected to the Internet. If not, refer to your network administrator or ISP for assistance.
    Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you are connected. Then tap > and Forget this Network. Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network again.
Note: You will need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your desired network requires one.
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and then on again2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2.For AirPort Base Stations, see this article for information about firmware updates.
And this section at the bottom if that troubleshooting does not resolve hte issue:
Unable to connect to a Wi-Fi network
Verify that you are attempting to connect your desired Wi-Fi network.
Make sure you are entering your Wi-Fi password correctly.Passwords may be case sensitive and may contain numbers or special characters.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings including: previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords, recently used Bluetooth accessories, VPN and APN settings.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • How to connect a 2nd airport express in a home network?

I'm triying to connect a second airport express in my home network but when I plug in and go to Airpot Utility says :
"This version of AirPort Utility doesn’t support this base station. Go to AirPort Service and Support for more information."
I don't know what to do to get connect the second airport exprees?, Do I miss something ?

You need AirPort Utility 5.6 to configure that model Express. The problem with that version is that Mountain Lion will refuse to let you install it.
This dilemma is easily solved. You simply need to extract the app from the installer package using a package extractor like Pacifist or unpkg. Pacifist is shareware, unpkg is free.
    Download Pacifist here: http://www.charlessoft.com/
    Download unpkg here: http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
Download AirPort Utility 5.6 here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
When the AirPort Utility .dmg file finishes downloading, open it to expand and reveal the AirPortUtility56.pkg package installer file.
Directions for Pacifist (I do not have screenshots for unpkg but the idea is similar):
Open Pacifist and from its File menu, navigate to the package and open it.
Click the "reveal triangles" until you see AirPort Utility 5.6.app:
Select it and then click Install from Pacifist's toolbar. It will then be installed in your Utilities folder, and you can quit Pacifist.
Mountain Lion will not allow you to delete its existing version of AirPort Utility. Just ignore it. It and the older version (which will bear the unique name "AirPort Utility 5.6") can peacefully coexist.
If you happen to have an archived copy of the AU 5.6 app somewhere, such as a Time Machine backup or equivalent, you can simply restore it or drag the app to your Mountain Lion system's Utilities folder instead of resorting to the above procedure. It will run without complaint. It is only the package installer that is the problem.
If you have an older computer with a version of AirPort Utility earlier than 6.0, you can administer it that way as well.

  • Can I share my internet with my Ipad and simultaneously connect to a airport express that I use to remotely connect speakers?

Can I share my internet from my Imac with my Ipad and simultaneously connect to a airport express that I use to remotely to connect speakers?
The big problem that I'm having is that when internet sharing via the airport I can not simultaneously connect with my airport express.  It would be great to be able to share internet from my Imac so I can be using my Ipad and at the sametime have my wife use the airport express to stream music in a different room. It would be awesome to be able to have the ability to do both. Does anybody know how?

Unless your iMac was made before 2006 (this forum is for old iMacs), you might get better assistance by posting in one of the following forum areas:

  • How can I find out who is connected to my Airport network?

I want to see if people are stealing my internet, is there anyway I can find out how many specific users are connected to my airport express?
    Thanks very much.

Open Airport Utility and log into your base station.
Then on the Summary window, click on "Wireless Clients".
This will tell you how many people are connected and what ID's they have.

  • HP Laserjet printer connected to my Airport Express?

I have bought a HP Laserjet printer and I want to connect it to my Airport express, so I can print wireless. I have my Airport express installed and connected to my router via Ethernet cabel and I the printer is connected to the Airport station by a USB cable. But my Macbook Pro can't find the printer when I search for it? What might the problem be?
    Hope someone can help!

The problem may be that the AirPort Express does not support your printer model.  Not all printers are supported, and Apple tends to favor popular, lower priced All-in-One devices for USB support.
On your Mac....open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)
    Open Print & Scan
Click the + (plus) button at the bottom of the printer list
Hopefully, your printer model will appear. If it does, click on the name of the printer to highlight it, then click Add to install the printer at the location of the AirPort Express
Try to print. Be sure to select the correct location of your printer, as it may appear as a printer connected to your MacBook Pro and as a printer connected to the AirPort Express. You must choose the correct location to be able to print.
If your printer model does not appear when you click the + button in the steps above, about all that you can do is contact HP Support to see if they have an updated printer driver that you could download and install....that might allow the print function at the AirPort Express.

  • Is it possible to plug in an external HDD to the USB connection on my Airport Express for backups?

Is it possible to plug in an external HDD to the USB connection on my Airport Express for backups? As a kind of cheapo Time Capsule?

Unfortunately no, because the USB port on the AirPort Express will only work with a printer and a Keyapan remote control. Hard drives are not supported.
You would need an AirPort Extreme for that type of functionality.
