Who is controller in a quickcluster?

Folks, I've got three G5s setup as quickcluster with services. My machine typically would be set as the controller, but I am just testing the software right now.
Is the machine that sends the job automatically the controller when all the machines are set up in quickcluster mode?
I tried a compressor job this morning and batch monitor nor Qadmin didn't show me what the other machines were doing. My status menu was the only one with a green light as I walked around to see the other machines' status.
Batch monitor did show that my media was broken up into portions to be rendered, but how do I know that other machines on the network were actually doing the work and not just mine?

You have to set one machine as controller, it can be the submittiing machine or any other, it doesn't matter.
The rest of the machines can be set up as services only but you need them all to be managed in order to see them working from your Qadministrator application.

  • Sharepoint Designer 2010 - Actions - "then Copy from"

    I have a custom workflow that someone else created that I am trying to duplicate.  It's a fairly basic workflow, but there is one line in there that I am having problems with.  The line says:
    "then Copy from Master Business List:Controller2, starting at
    8 (Output to
    Variable: ControllerID)
    I know exactly what this line is trying to do, but I can't figure out how to replicate it.  When I am creating my new workflow there is an action called "Copy List Item", but when I use it I get the following line:
    "then Copy item in Master Business List to
    Mobile Phone Replacement Form"
    The difference between "then Copy from" and "then Copy item" I have a feeling is significant.  In my drop down list of actions there is no "then Copy from" option available, and nothing else even looks remotely like it.
    I also for the life of me can't figure out what the "starting at 8" means.
    We have a basic infopath form that users fill out if they want the company to buy them a replacement cell phone.  On it they select which business area they are in, (IS, Legal, etc).  This workflow needs to grab that business area and then look
    up in the master business list who the controller is for that area, and then add that ID to the variable: ControllerID.  There is nothing in that list that I can see where the number 8 has any bearing.  There are 32 items in the list, there are only
    5 columns, and nowhere is there an 8 in any of the columns.
    Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Ted

    Thanks very much for your help.  That got me a LOT closer.
    One quick question though.  Now my line says:
    "then Copy from Master
    Business List:Controller2, starting at 8 for
    0 characters (Output to Variable:
    ControllerID)"
    I assume that the zero has to be some number of characters of the field I am copying, (email addresses),
    but since it doesn't exist in the previous workflow I'm not 100% what to set it at.  I tried coming up with a way to remove it, and if I save my work flow this switches to:
    "then Copy from Master
    Business List:Controller2, starting at 8
    for *number of* (Output to Variable:
    ControllerID)", so I assume it really wants something there.
    Thanks again for your help.

  • Who know's an unexpensive stepping motor incl. controller?

    Hi,
    I'd like to realize a stepping-motor project and I'm therefore looking for the hardware necessary. It's logical that I need a motor and a controller. Because I use a Laptop I need an external controller. I would like to control it via RS232 or USB.
    You have to know that I'm a student and therefore don't earn much money and would prefer unexpensive hardware (max. 100€). My investigations about this unfortunately resulted in very expensive hardware.
    I would be very grateful if someone could tell me an unexpensive resource for such hardware including a stepping motor and a controller, which can be easily controlled using LabView 8.2.
    Many thanks in advance for your help,
    Ulrich

  • Hard drive array losing access - suspect controller - zfs

    i am having a problem with one of my arrays, this is a zfs fielsystem.  It consists of a 1x500GB, 2x750GB, and 1x2TB, linear array. the pool is named 'pool'.    I have to mention here, i dont have enough hard drive to have a raidz (raid5) setup yet, so there is no actual redundancy to so the zfs cant auto repair itself from a copy because there is none, therefore all auto repair features can be thrown out the door in this equation meaning i believe its possible that the filesystem can easily be corrupted by the controller in this specific case which i suspect.  Please keep that in mind while reading the following.
    I just upgraded my binaries, therefore i removed zfs-fuse and installed archzfs.  did i remove it completely?  not sure.  i wasnt able to get my array back up and running until i fiddled with  the sata cables, moved around the sata connectors, tinkered with bios drive detect. after i got it running, i copied some files off of it from samba thinking it might not last long.  the copy was succesfull, but problems began surfacing again shortly after.  so now i suspect i have a bad controller on my gigabyte board.  I round recently someone else who had this issue so im thinking its not the hard drive.
    I did some smartmontools tests last night and found that ll drives are showing good on a short test, they all passed.  today im not having so much luck with getting access.  there is hangs on reboot, and the drive light stays on.  when i try to run zfs and zpool commands its stating the system is hanging.  i have been getting what appears as HD errors as well, ill have to manually type them in here since no copy and paste from the console to the maching im posting from, and the errors arent showing up via ssh or i would copy them from my terminal tha ti currently have open to here.
    ata7: SRST failed (errno=-16)

    ' ' ' ' ' ' assuming drive cache: write through
    info task txg_sync:348 blocked for more than 120 seconds
    and so forth, and when i boot i see this each time which is making me feel that the HD is going bad, however i still want to believe its the controller.
    Note, it seems only those two sectors show up, is it possible that the controller shot out those two sectors with bad data?  {Note, i have had a windows system prior installed on this motherboard and after a few months of running lost a couple raid arrays of data as well.}
    failed command: WRITE DMA EXT
    ... more stuff here...
    ata7.00 error DRDY ERR

    blah blah blah.
    so now i can give you some info from the diagnosis that im doing on it, copied from a shell terminal.  Note the following metadata errors JUST appeared after i was trying to delete some files, copying didnt cause this, so it apears either something is currently degrading, or it just inevitably happened from a bad controller

    [root@falcon dev]# zfs list
    no datasets available
    i remember creating a dataset last year, why is it reporting none, but still working
    is anybody seeing any patterns here?  im prepared to destroy the pool and recreate it just to see if its bad data.But what im thinking to do now is since the problem appears to only be happening on the 2TB drive, either the controller just cant handle it, or the drive is bad.  So, to rule out the controller there might be hope.  I have a scsi card (pci to sata) connected that one of the drives in the array is connected to since i only have 4 sata slots on the mobo, and i keep the 500GB connected to there and have not yet tried the 2tb there yet.  So if i connect this 2TB drive to the scsi i should see the problems disappear, unless the drive got corrupted already.
    Does any experience in the arch forums know whats going on here?  did i mess up by not completely removing zfs-fuse, is my HD going bad, is my controller bad, or did ZFS just get misconfigured?
    Last edited by wolfdogg (2013-07-21 19:38:51)

    ok, something interesting happened when i connected it (the badly reacting 2TB drive) to the scsi pci card.  first of all no errors on boot.... then take a look at this, some clues to some remanants to the older zfs-fuse setup, and a working pool.

  • How do I hook my Keyboard up to my computer to use it as a MIDI controller?

    Ok, I'm new to MACS and new to LOGIC. I just installed logic and all of its components on my IMAC. OSX 10.6.3 Once I installed everything, I tried to hook up my electric piano to use it as a MIDI controller. Mind you, I am also completely new to MIDI. My Piano is a KORG sp-300. I used an Alesis Audio Link USB- MIDI cable to connect my keyboard directly to a usb port in my MAC. I hooked up the midi side of the connector to the midi in and out on my keyboard, and plugged in the usb side to the computer. I then went to the Audio Midi set up, and looked in the midi studio, and there was the USB2MIDI(which is associated with the Alesis cord, and not my Korg piano) and the IAC driver from MAC. I checked so that both are online, and didn't change any of the other settings. I did a test set up, but when I played notes on the keyboard nothing happened.
    So now when I open Logic, or garage band for that matter, it doesn't recognize that I have a midi controller hooked up. When I look in midi preferences in garageband, it says that there are 2 midi devices detected. In logic it says that there is no input or output.
    I read the manual for LOGIC and for my Korg, and I am lost. Korg says that it transmits on 1 channel, automatically set to channel 1 if not adjusted, and receives on 16. If I am correct, right now I am not interested in receiving, only transmitting.
    At this point, I just want to select a software instrument in Logic, play my Korg, and see notes(or MIDI data) appear in the arrange area. I don't know what's going on, but again, I am completely lost.
    Could someone please help me here? Am I missing an obvious step? Like I said, I am new to all of this, so please let me know if you have any idea how to get my midi controller to work. It says in the Korg manual that it can be used as a controller, or a multitimbral tone generator. And I did switch the Local Off.
    By the way, who would be best to call to solve this issue. MAC? Sweetwater(where I bought the Alesis cord, and Logic)? Or Korg?
    Please let me know if you have any helpful advice.
    Thanks,
    Tristan

    Pancenter,
    Thanks for the response, but I do not have a midi interface. I am using a midi to usb connector cable, thus bypassing the need for a Midi interface.
    The Mac reads the USB cable as a midi device, but not the keyboard that I am trying to use as a controller. I have tried it with my korg sp 300 and with my Nord Electro 2.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Tristan
    Tristan...
    This is what you have, correct?
    http://www.alesis.com/usbmidicable
    This from Alesis..
    "The AudioLink Series USB cable receives and outputs MIDI signal thanks to its internal interface. The USB-MIDI Cable connects plug-and-play to your Mac or PC for an all-in-one USB-MIDI solution."
    Notice, -internal interface-. What you have is a simple USB MIDI Interface. Most MIDI interfaces are USB.
    My point is (was), MIDI OUT of the Korg goes to the connector marked MIDI IN on the Alesis, those new to MIDI often get this wrong.

    Parsing Out Data From Flat File With Inconsistent Delimiters in SQL Server
    Durval Ramos: "Very useful. Good job !"
    Ed Price: "Fantastic job on the code formatting, in-depth descriptions, and robust use of images!"
    AM: "Thanks for presenting multiple approaches to solve the problem. It would be good to see a second part describing the format file."
    DRC: "This is a good article which provides different ways to import the data to SQL, But this article needs some modifications. Suggestions: • It would be helpful, if mentioned on which version of SQL server and Visual studio scenario
    was tested • We might encounter errors while using the format files, for example we get the below error if the format file doesn’t have blank space (character ) at the end of each line Msg 4862, Level 16, State 1, Line 10 Cannot bulk load because the file
    "C:\temp\good.fmt" could not be read. Operating system error code (null). • So it will be helpful if you can provide a sample format file and TSQL script along with the possible output which can be tested and compared. • The sample query and the
    format file is not yielding the right output. Screenshots shown in the article has invalid values (for example ID coulmn has invalid values). Format file need to be fixed to get the right data. • The format file under section “Files With Text Qualifiers” is
    also invalid and the data is not imported properly. • Implementation of import using the SSIS package needs more details about how to make the delimiter consistent, Attaching a sample package would be helpful. "

  • How to get new controller instance instead of a cached one?

    Hi,
    I have the following problem. I am working on a stateful mvc application. You can search for items and then click on a button which allows you to see the details of an item in a new window and it is possible to modify it.
    I use standard javascript code to open the details windows:
    window.open("item.do?itemnumber=1", "MyFirstWindow");
    This works fine. It opens the first window. The item controller is called for the first time  and the do_init method will be executed.
    Now, I open a second window with this code:
    window.open("item.do?itemnumber=2", "MySecondWindow");
    Unfortunately the framework will not create a second controller instance for the second window. It will use the already existing item controller (the do_init method will not be called).
    Now, I have two windows open which both use the same controller instance.
    So my question is: Is there the possibility to tell the framework that I need a new item controller instance for every new window?
    I already checked various official url sap-parameters but did not find anything useful.
    regards
    Thomas

    Hi,
    sorry for not answering earlier. To be honest I thought there might a standard way to get a new controller instance. But it seems that is not the case. For everybody who is interested I think I will use the following solution.
    I create a wrapper controller called itemwrapper.do. The view of this controller has the following layout:
    <htmlb:content design="design2003" >
      <htmlb:document>
        <htmlb:documentHead>
        </htmlb:documentHead>
        <htmlb:documentBody>
                  <bsp:call url     = "item.do"
                            comp_id = "<%= item_id %>">
                    <bsp:parameter name="itemid" value="<%= item_id %>"/>
                  </bsp:call>
        </htmlb:documentBody>
      </htmlb:document>
    </htmlb:content>
    The wrapper controller is called like this: item.do?itemid=1234.
    How does is works? The wrappercontroller gets a request -> it gets the itemid from the url -> it opens the view and fills the page attribute item_id. In the view the bsp:call extension will create a new item controller instance everytime a unique item_id is used.
    regards
    Thomas

    Hi thanks for the reply. We got it connected via Ethernet now. We had to
    change the IP address of "local area connection" on the computer to
    192.168.10.1 for it to see the controller. So now that it is connecting to
    the controller, it keeps saying that the drives are all disabled. I have
    one drive connected to the controller in the Axis 0 port.

    Hi thanks for the reply.  Yes I have used the ACR view to specify which inputs to use before.  I used input 0 for the positive limit, input 1 for the negative limit, and input 2 for the home switch.  However, when using ACR view the switch kept displaying that the switch had been tripped when nothing was pressing against it.  I would also try pressing on the mechanical switch to see at least if the value would change but to no avail.

  • Why is my macbook pro running slow.  It runs slow even if only one app is open, especially if it's a browser.  I don't know how to read Etrecheck, but was hoping someone who does can help me out.  Would be super grateful.  :-)

    Hi.  This is my first time posting.  My Macbook Pro with Os X Mavericks has been running super slow since before I installed Mavericks so I'm pretty sure it's not the OS that has the problem.  It runs slow even if only one app is open, especially if it's a browser, particulary google chrome.  If mail is open...forget about it, down to a crawl.  I don't know how to read Etrecheck, but was hoping someone who does can help me out.  Would be super grateful.  :-)
    P.S. - Also, it sounds like something is loose inside my mac.  How should I proceed?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Controller different Input in the same time in a real Scenario...(SIMULATION IN 2 TANKS CONTROLLER BY PCB BOARD)

    Hi! I really need help....
    I´m doing a simulation where I can controller the input and output with one external PCB, all is working properly (the communication) but my problem is, I can´t open where ever I want the different valves...I mean, I must wait until the process is finish...
    The program is working with diferents process like this:
    §Process 0:
        Programinitialization. Tanks and pipes in zero state. Control for this state with  “pump on” button.
    §Process 1:
        §State:
             “ Pump on ” button istrue: Pump 1 isrunning, andTank 1 starts to be filled with water.
             “ Pump on ” button is false: nothing happen, go to the next process
    §Process 2:
         This process is controlled from the “Control 1”button with is who control “Valve 1” for the discharge of water from tank 1 to tank 2.
    §Process 3:
          This processiscontrolledfromthe “Control 2 ”button with is who control “Valve 2” for the discharge of water from tank 1 to tank 2 if “Control 3 ” button is close or if “Control 3 ”button is open the water go out from the loop.
    §Process 4:
          This processgiveyoutheoptiontocome back totheprocess 1 ortotheprocess 2 dependingofthestate in process 3.
    So my problem is I want  run different processes in the same time, without having to wait out the current process is running....
    this look like this:
    and with the differents states...so I was trying to use a Statechart for try to improve the simulation....
    like this:
    But when I was tried to implement in labview with the statechart module i can't find the way to interconexión with this new module...
    Because i need two differents regions...but i can't use the connexion between them....
    Some new idea, help....all is welcome!!!
    Thanks in advance.
