Now Sun continue support of Solaris Intel, But Oracle release only 8.1.7 exist.

SymptomsWhile installing Oracle10gR2 on a Solaris 10 x86-64 server, Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) reports the following errors while checking the kernel parameters:
shmsys:shminfo_shmmax=4294967295 found no entry . Failed <<
shmsys:shminfo_shmmni=100 found no entry . Failed <<
shmsys:shminfo_semmni=100 found no entry . Failed <<
shmsys:shminfo_semmsl=256 found no entry . Failed <<
The overall results of this check is Failed.
The kernel parameters do not meet the minimum requirements
CauseOUI is looking at /etc/system to check the kernel parameter settings, but this file is not used (by default) in Solaris 10
OUI should check the kernel parameter settings using the resource control utility ( /bin/prctl )
SolutionTo implement the solution, please execute one the following steps:
1. Verify that the kernel parameter settings are correct using the resource control utility ( /bin/prctl ) and then start OUI like this:
./runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs
OR
2. Include the recommended kernel parameter settings in the /etc/system file and start OUI as normal:
./runInstaller

How to Reorganize CSM200 Shared Storage in Solaris 10 x86 Oracle 10gR2

I could use some guidance from those who are more experienced in RAC administration in a Solaris environment with ASM. I have a three-node RAC with Oracle 10gR2 instances on top of Solaris 10 x86 where the shared storage is a Sun CSM200 disk array which looks like a single disk to the rest of the world. I'm not very familiar with the CSM200 Common Array Manager but I do have access to use it.
During initial setup, I followed the Oracle cookbook and defined a storage slice for each of the following: OCR, OCR mirror, three voting disks, and +DATA, for a total of six slices. I brought up the RAC and we've used it for a couple of weeks.
This is a Dev and QA environment, so it changes pretty fast. The new requirement is to add a +FRA and to add a mount point for a file system on the shared storage, so that all three Oracle instances can refer to the same external table(s).
However, I've already used all the available slices in the VTOC on the shared logical drive. I'm not sure how to proceed.
1) Is it necessary to use the CAM to create two logical disks out of the single existing logical disk?
2) If so, how destructive is that? I don't need to keep the contents of the database, but I do not want to reinstall CRS or ASM or the DB instances.
3) Is it possible to combine the OCR and its mirror on the same slice, thus freeing a slice for reuse?
4) Is it possible to combine all three voting disks on the same slice, thus freeing two slices for reuse?

Another question: Under 10.2.0.4, is it possible for the OCR and voting disks to be managed by ASM? I know it would be possible under 11g, but that's not an option as I am trying to match a customer's environment and they aren't going to 11g any time real soon.

What you see is what happens when the Java runtime running on Solaris 10 x86 tries to load a library which is compiled for SPARC.
Because of the native parts in SAP GUI for Java, compilations and installers are required for each OS - HW combination.
The supported platforms can be seen in SAP note 954572. For Solaris only SPARC is currently supported.
Because of the effort needed for compiling, testing, support etc. it is required to focus on OS - HW combinations widely used on desktop machines and Solaris 10 on x86 currently does not seem to be one of those.

I wondering if you are trying to get the price of PE-PFISR or PE_PLS but you can try to go to http://www.hardwarezone.com.sg > price guides > Pentium 4 motherboards or you can direct download their most updated price list from hardwarezone Singapore or Malaysia.

Oracle 10(10.1.0) on Solaris 5.10 Intell

I have installed oracle 10g(10.1.0) under solaris intel 5.10,at final stage of installation, while linking the files i receive this error
error:-unable to find make utility in location /usr/ccs/bin/make
i press ignore button 4 to 5 times. then it display installation successfull.
then i started $dbca & every thing goes fine but at 12/12 step it shows a HTML page to save ,i save it but database creation does not apper. i tryed all my possible ways.
could u suggest me what i have missed.i have started installation with this command
$./runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs &

At first I need to say you did at least two mistakes.
1. You executed runInstaller with -ignoreSysPrereqs
2. You ignored the (very important) error messages
According to error message that you got I belive that your OS is missing required packages important for succesful install (probably third mistake).
To check whether all required packages are installed execute following command from shell:
pkginfo -i SUNWlibms SUNWtoo SUNWi1cs SUNWi15cs SUNWxwfnt SUNWxwplt SUNWmfrun SUNWxwplr SUNWxwdv SUNWgcc SUNWbtool SUNWi1of SUNWhea SUNWlibm SUNWsprot SUNWuiu8Install the missing packages.
Then execute (as oracle) $ORACLE_HOME/bin/relink all command.

Hardware:Sun fire V20z.
When i tried creating Database using DBCA,it was throwing lots of error.
The errors are:
1) ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
2) ORA-03114: not connected to oracle
3) ORA-27100: shared memory realm already exists.
Any help on creating a database in Solaris 10 x86 Oracle 10.1.0.3

Oracle Solaris Cluster software offers two choices of locations to host the global-devices namespace:
A lofi device
A dedicated file system on one of the local disks
This section describes the guidelines for using a dedicated partition. This information does not apply if you instead host the global-devices namespace on a lofi.
The /globaldevices file system is usually located on your root disk. However, if you use different storage on which to locate the global-devices file system, such as a Logical Volume Manager volume, it must not be part of a Solaris Volume Manager shared disk set or part of a VxVM disk group other than a root disk group. This file system is later mounted as a UFS cluster file system. Name this file system /globaldevices, which is the default name that is recognized by the scinstall(1M) commandSo:

Every node require have it's own separate slice for globaldevice.
Shared Lun can be mounted with option global for access from both nodes at same time, but it will be second step - configure data-services.

 The level of one release is different with plateform.
On the Oracle Database 10g Downloads you can find only final release, and not intermediare patch. For example, the 10gR1 for Linux x86 is 10.1.0.3, and for Windows 32-bits this is 10.1.0.2, after what you can upgrade to the last patchset.

check your /etc/system and init.ora
did you set up kernel parameters for oracle in /etc/system?
something like this:
set shmsys:shminfo_shmmax=0xffffffff
set shmsys:shminfo_shmmin=1
set shmsys:shminfo_shmmni=4096
set shmsys:shminfo_shmseg=100
set semsys:seminfo_semmni=4096
set semsys:seminfo_semmsl=4096

the interesting parameter is
set shmsys:shminfo_shmseg=100 - that is maximum amount of oracle processes system can have, if you have something like processes=150 in init.ora, database won't start.
read oracle installation manual on how to set these parameters for a particular machine and database

OCIEnvCreate function is failing with -1 return code on solaris 9 x86. The database I use is, Oracle 10g release 1. I tired to connect with sqlplus and am able to connect to dataserver. Why does OCIEnvCreate fails? Can someone help me in this regard.

There already are some tools in the App Store (eg. My Medical - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/my-medical/id347860026?mt=8).
If you mean something that would interact directly with a Hospitals main system or such, I don't know of any. There are numerous companies now selling and setting up central records systems around the country, but I don't know of any that are working on companion patient tools yet.
Some charity and non-profit companies, like MedicAlert Foundation are working on such things and may have mobile apps on their radar, as funds allow them to develop such thing. MedicAlert already offers an EMIR service online, but no standalone mobile app for it yet (you manage it via their web portal).
Epocrates (owned by Athena Health) might also have something in the works, or at least an interest in such a thing.
