Who knows oracle application's history

Hi,
I like to know the history of oracle application(s), does anyone know or have a link?
Some employers are looking for application administrator with 10+ years experience, I just wonder whether the application itself has 10+ years history or not :-)
i.e.
appliaction 11 released in 2004 etc.
many thanks.

this link has the Apps history interspersed in it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oracle_Corporation#History

  • Is there an Add On that automatically stores history to a file? Even if the history has been manually "cleared" via the pull down and dialog box? I need to monitor the history on my teenager, who knows how to clear history.

I know this might be considered "stalking" to a certain degree, but I am interested in my teenagers internet safety and an Add-On that can help parents would be great...

This is probably a loosing battle. Next you will need to ensure the teenager can not make a new profile, install another browser, or use a totaly different OS from other media. Once you have done all that you are unlikely to prevent internet access from mobiles internet cafes and friends devices.
I am sure others may make suggestions, but simply installing spyware is not likely to be the best philosphy.

  • Screenshots in cover flow of Safari history are empty. Why? Who knows?

Screenshots in cover flow of Safari history are empty. Whereas all history is visible. Why? Who knows?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • How to know current form name in oracle applications 11i.

    Hi all,
By clicking on Help menu-> About Oracle Applications, it will display environment variables info, and current form info, on which we r working.
I want to know from where this information is coming,
Where oracle applicaitons will store this information.
Is there any database table which regularly updates the current form info.
Or is there any log which contains info about current form name.

    Hi
For viewing this information you need to read system administration guide , Go through this pdf file

  • I need to know the department column in Oracle Application

    Hi there:
Can somebody tell me how can I get the employee department information from oracle application.
I need to know the table name and column name.
    Thanks and regards,
    Zeeshan

I think this is not the best forum, to ask such a question. One that deals with Oracle Applications would be better suited.
Maybe have a look [url http://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=410]here. Not sure if it is the right one.

  • Anybody know an applications who can "Shake Hand" to others IPhone

I want to know if anybody know an applications who can send signal who can shake Hand to other IPhone near me. They have that on Palm Treo and other phone.

A very naive response Krowe. I assume you mean on WEP, rather than WAP.
I think you're missing the point, which is that the iPod Touch does not do as it promises.
Apart from that, you can if you wish, leave your router on WEP security and run the risk of not only having your network compromised and having data intercepted - you don't need to be a secret government agent/spy/renegade/software pirate/convict on the run to be using passwords on various sites for various reasons or storing sensitive information on your PC - but also somebody else using the bandwidth that you have paid for, to do whatever illegal activities (send Spam mail, use stolen credit cards, etc) they wish with an IP address that can't be traced back to them. The IP address is unique and assigned to your connection, once a hacker is on your network he/she has as much control over your PCs as you do.
WEP is not secure (try googling for "hacking wep") and just because I use MAC filtering doesn't mean somebody won't be able to access my network. A hacker will be able to detect what MAC addresses are registered and then use one himself.
Why do you think the WPA protocol was developed?
Anyway, all of this is besides the point. I am not prepared to weaken my network security - all I want to do is get mt iPod Touch working with WPA encryption.

  • Discoverer Plus associate with the Oracle Application Server Infrastructure

    Hi Everyone,
I just install the Oracle BI (v 10.1.2.0.2) into my 2003 server so I could use the Discoverer Plus and Viewer. This is a stand alone BI installation (I guess, I have little knowledge about Discoverer plus or Oracle AS).
My question is how could I connect the Discoverer plus to my ODS database, so I could create report or view report.
and where to find the Oracle Application Server Infrastructure (or How do I know I have the Oracle Application Server Infrastructure?)
I read the Oracle BI Discoverer Configuration Guide, and it tell me to associate the Oracle BI with the Oracle Application Server Infrastructure to deploy the Discoverer. so I went to the BI Application Server Control page, the Infrastructure section, the Identity Management to configure the Internet Directory, so I could I have the public connection, but it didn't work.
Also do I real need the Oracle AS Infrastructure to make the Discoverer Plus work?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Kevin,
Oracle AS Infrastructure is needed only if you are implementing SSO for Discoverer or using Public connection .
Else only Oracle AS Middle tier is sufficient to work with Discoverer Plus .
Regarding "how could I connect the Discoverer plus to my ODS database, so I could create report or view report"
You need to create the End User Layer (EUL) and then grant privilege to the EUL to users who will be creating the report .
    Thanks,

I'm going to guess and say that you are using Developer Suite based on your reference to port 8889. Assuming this is true, did you start OC4J? If so, a DOS window will open - do NOT close this window as it will terminate OC4J.
Also, what happens if you open a browser and enter the Forms URL directly?

  • SQL types over PLSQL types while using Oracle Applications adapter in BPEL

Use SQL types over PL/SQL types while using Oracle Applications adapter
    in BPEL/ ESB
This document will be focusing on Oracle Applications adapter. However Database adapter is much like OA adapter (even OA adapter uses DB Adapter), so the readers who are interested to explore DB adapters, can relate things with this document and go further as well.
Some Guidelines for writing PL/SQL APIs for OA Adapter
As we know when we create a partner link from the OA adapter wizard it sometimes writes some wrapper script supportive to the OA Adapter WSDL which contains below
    * Object type for PL/SQL RECORD
    * Nested table of the given type for PL/SQL TABLE. For example, the nested table of NUMBER.
    * INTEGER substituted for PL/SQL BOOLEAN
    * Wrapper Script for converting above three set of data types . (PLSQL to SQL and SQL to PLSQL conversion functions)
In runtime this wrapper script for converting PL/SQL to SQL and SQL to PL/SQL is an extra overhead.
So the first advice would be to avoid the use of the below as parameters of PLSQL API being called by OA Adapter.
    * PL/SQL RECORD
    * PL/SQL TABLE. For example, the nested table of NUMBER.
    * PL/SQL BOOLEAN
In other way we can say we should try to use only SQL data types in arguments if we are planning to call any PL/SQL API from the OA Adapter.
If the requirement is to use a table or record uses the Object type. In place of BOOLEAN better to use VARCHAR or INTEGER what ever fulfills your requirement. Following this guideline we can reduce a huge number of Line of codes to be run each time the adapter being called.
Generally, Oracle E-Biz standard APIs use PL/SQL record types and table types so when there is a requirement to call these API’s from OA Adapter (this is a common requirement in development), and if we directly browse the API in OA Adapter Configuration Wizard and create the partner link, again a huge number of code is written by the wizard in the wrapper script (a number of extra mapping of fields which are not being used in the interface).
In this case better would be to create an Object type with only the required fields which are being used in that call and use them as parameters for the PLSQL API.

  • Informations about Oracle Application Express

    Hello,
for my company I have to do a complete comparison of four tools which can be used for creation of GUIs:
    - Oracle Application Framework
    - Oracle Forms
    - Oracle Application Express
    - Microsoft .NET Framework
Here in this topic I search for some facts about the ApEx:
    - How does it work (language, tools, ...)
    - Performance vs. the other three
    - Integretation into E-Business Suite
    - Possitbilites of the GUI
    - Screenshots, Links, etc.
    thx a lot

The goal is to build a GUI where you can handle Tabledate, etc. Well you can certainly very easily do that with APEX.
As for the disadvantages/advantages, what I would suggest is -
    Option 1
    Use -
    1) OTN (plus other Vendors websites)
    2) OTN Forums/Google Groups etc
    3) Google to find other sources (but with extreme care to validate/verify your sources)
To research the information on your own. Unless you have experience of the products yourself, then this area is fraught with potential problems, as you are effectively quoting information that you have not verified yourself (hence the need to be very satisified that you trust the source of the information).
    Option 2
Contact a respective expert in each of the technologies asking them to cite advantages and disadvantages of the tool they use.
Again, there is a potential for 'bias' here, so you need to make sure that your 'source' is objective enough to be able to provide realistic disadvantages of the tool (at least in the context of your question)
    Option 3
By far the best option in my view -
Try and find someone who has used both/some/all of the tools you're trying to compare. Once again it needs to be someone who's opinion you can trust (otherwise what is the point?).
The most difficult thing about having 2 people comparing products A and B, is that the person extolling the virtues of product A might not know that product B actually makes certain things easier and vice-versa. By having someone who has used BOTH products discuss the pros and cons then you get a much more 'real-world usability' view of the benefits and drawbacks.
Just my thoughts, hope they help.
    John.

  • Very very urgent Discoverer reports for non oracle applications

    Hi,
My client is using discoverer 10g with R12.He is using different non oracle applications like BRM Application (database is oracle only) for that they wants to develop discoverer reports. It is possible to integrate with non oracle applications with discoverer.
Can you please suggest me.It is very very urgent.
    Thanks & Regards.

    Hi
You're really not supposed to manage a non-Apps mode EUL and an Apps mode data within the same URL. Having said that, I have a hunch you just might be able to do it and there are 2 ways. You can either make the data available to user who login using E-Business Suite credentials or you can make it available to users who have database credentials. The first one is straightforward and you do it just like any other data. Let me give you some hints regarding the second method.
First of all I ahve not personally tried this and you may find that because Discoverer was initially set up in Apps mode that somewhere down the line it will make the suers connect this way. However, the following is worth a try.
I would a new schema in the Oracle E-Business database to manage the link to BRM and create a database link from this user to a user in the BRM database. You will also need to create user accounts within the database for anyone who needs to login and run BRM reports.
Next, I would create views in this new schema pointing at data across the BRM link, thus allowing Discoverer to think these are local objects.
In Discoverer Administrator, you would need to log in to Discoverer using the owner of the EUL - NOT using SYSADMIN or any of the other E-Business Suite accounts. You should log in with the Oracle Applications checkbox unchecked. You can now create new business areas on the BRM data. You should also be able to assign users to Discoverer privileges and users to business areas.
Using the same URL you would have Apps users connect using the E-Business Suite item on the drop-down for logging in and you would have BPM users choose the Business Intelligence Discoverer item.
Let me know how you get on
    Michael

  • Oracle Application Hardware Migration using Acronis

    Hi,
I’m an Oracle Applications DBA and would really appreciate some other DBA input on the following question.
I have a customer that uses Acronis to backup, restore and image Oracle Applications. Their current instance (11.5.6) is running on really old kit. As a test the windows guys have restored oracle Apps onto a brand new server and started the services. This has worked, which is to be expected (that’s what Acronis does).
My question is “Does Oracle support this method of hardware migration using Acronis”. My understanding is that for hw migration either autoconfig or export+import were the only Supported options.
I know that 11.5.6 is unsupported and come to mention it so is their OS and the fact that they use images as clones. This aside I would be interested in other opinions on weather Acronis is strictly for restoring/imaging a duff system or in fact weather it would be supported by Oracle for Hardware migration. ( With some reasoning please).
I have checked metalink with only one hit (643276.992) but this does not directly answer my question
Thanks in advance to anyone who can reply to this.
    Cheers
    James

Yes you will be able to do that (migrate/upgrade your 10g Forms & Reports applications to 11g Forms & Reports) and deploy on Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g.
Note that FMW 11g release having Forms & Reports is not yet out. I am not sure about the exact time frame but it is expected to be out sometime this calendar year.
    Thanks
