Who knows the forms-migration tool "forms-stepper"

I've heard about this tool and that it analyse and migrate forms-aplications from forms 4.5 to 6i and beyond.
Who knows something about this tool? Internet-search by google wasn't successful.

.... but the xml file I'm trying to upload is only 42kb size and is provided by Oracle.Yes, I realise that. I recognise the name of the file you referred to in your original posting. We were also able to reproduce the bug using the customer file, even though the size is alot smaller than that quoted in the bug (which is the value I previously mentioned). If you have the flexibility to install 10g XE and try things out there, then that's your best option right now.
So now I'll try to install apex 4.0.x on a DB XE10g to see if the problem come from the DB XE11g or from apex 4.0.xAs mentioned in my previous post, the issue you have reported is a known database bug, and not an issue with APEX itself. The underlying code for handling the parsing of an XML file in Forms Migrations has not changed, which is how we knew the issue was database-related in the first place.
Just in case, there is no posibility of grants, rights or parameter to adapt in the DB XE11g ?No. This issue has nothing to do with grants or privileges. It's relating to a database code change in the area of XML parsing, which changed in 11.2 and introduced the reported behaviour.

Problems with importing films in iMovie11. Who knows the answer?

How can I import films from my Sony DCR-SR36 videocamera in iMovie11? I've problems with trying this. Only once iMovie recognized my camera but didn't import sound. The other times I tried I used the import function of iMovie11 and saw the several MPEG files but weren't able to import them. Who can help me out, or is it not possible in any way?

If you have access to My Oracle Support then review this note for alternatives -
How To Migrate Non-Oracle Databases For Which a SQL*Developer or Migration Workbench Option Is Not Available (Doc ID 393760.1)
For example, you could use a gateway and connect to Sybase then copy table to Oracle, but this won't do things like move stored procedures etc and you would have to move these manually.
Load the non-Oracle data into flat files and use SQL*Loader to put the data into Oracle tables. Again manual work is required for the other objects.
In Oracle 12c there will be additional features to help migrate from non-Oracle databases.
In the 12c documentation there is a migration guide:

because it give me the current directory with the form name for eg. (c:\dev6i\temp\abc.fmx) then i have to use
cur_file_name := get_form_property(:system.current_form,file_name);
total_length := length(cur_file_name);
cur_form_name_length := length(get_form_property(:system.current_form,form_name))+4;
path_length := total_length-cur_form_name_length;
cur_path:= substr(cur_file_name,1,path_length);
to get the actual path, and i dont find any function name GET_WORKING_DIRECTORY under WIN_API_ENVIRONMENT theie is get_windows_director and get_temp_directory but not the above, if you have that function then please mail me on [email protected] I also cannot use read_registry(forms_path) because in registry i have different paths.

Forms Migration Assistant - Forms Path?

I'm hoping somebody can help me. I'm attempting to use the Forms Migration Assistant and I'm having problems getting it to recognise attached libraries etc. Is there some sort of path that I can set to tell it where to look? I'm using 10gR2 developer suite and I'm using the assistant in wizard mode. I have tried setting the forms path in the registry and in the default.env file but this doesn't seem to make any difference. The only time I have had this working is if I modify the shortcut to the assistant to "Start in" the same folder as all of the libraries and forms which is less than ideal for our situation.

For anybody else that comes across this problem. Apparently, the regular forms_path should be picked up by the migration assistant however there is a bug with the GUI version of the tool that prevents this from happening. If you use the command line version then apparently the tool works fine.
However, if like me you intend to use the GUI version you can manually edit the frmplsqlconv.bat file to include your forms_path. There is a metalink note about this, the doc id is 454053.1

Experiences Migrating Tools Forms to J2EE : EVO + Exodus ADF

We are planning to migrate our 500 forms into J2EE (ADF Faces). So we are very pleased if anyone has experiences in these tools.

In J2ee it is much easier to get the 3 value of record 5 (multi row)I've not had much exposure to web-based development but I can see a number of ways that a forms multi-record block has an advantage over a tabular form on a webpage:
For data entry:
o You don't need to click a button and refresh the page when you run out of rows
o You can restrict the user to a field/record until it's in a valid state
o Records are locked instantly
o You can validate without refreshing the page
o You can commit each record automatically as it's entered/deleted/updated
For viewing data:
o You can have multiple MRBs on a page (very hard if not impossible in App Express)
o You can move between master records and show their children just by using the cursor keys
o You can access all the records at once (scrolling in a block is much friendlier than page refreshes and much more efficient than a huge iframe)
In general, navigating between records is much easier in Forms, and there's less need to reach for the mouse. Having to do a go_record to get a field value is annoying, but on the whole I don't think it's a big deal. At least in Forms we don't have to loop though a collection of records just to do a delete!
Another advantage is that Forms development requires skills only in pl/sql and the very similar forms built-ins. For an ADF application that does anything more than the wizards can create, you'd need skills in one or more of java, sql, html, css, and javascript.
IMHO the only reason to migrate away from forms is if you can't find the developers (unlikely!) or you want to open the application up to the general web without java/jinitiator in between.

Issue with the EPM migration tool.

I am in the process of migrating Hyperion Performance suite 8.5 to Hyperion EPM system 11.1.1. In the migration documentation PDF I am seeing the screen shots of navigation process. When I try to run migration uitlity tool all the screen shots matches up to objects to migrate screen after that I am supposed to get Hyperion shared services regitry entry screen, but for me utility tool is directly navigating to Hyperion reporting and analysys screen where I can enter BIPLUS entries.
With this I am not able to enter shared services registry database entires al all. Does any one encountered this error. Can you please let me know if I am missing some thing here.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Try to apply the new patch 9865650 "Patch 50". We are running 11.1.1.3 and had a similar problem. These problems are fixed in this patch.
