Who's Who customizing in ESS

Hi,
We are using portal 6.0 SP17, with ECC 5.0 and the Web Dynpro based ESS applications.
1)
Is it possible to customize the fields that are displayed in the standard application, without Java coding ?
If not, can someone give me a hint of how to do that. Is it required to use the JDI -environment, or is there a easier way to do it ?
Best Regards,
Kristian Rantakoski

Yes....the selection, results and detail fields can all be HIGHLY customized all through the IMG in the backend system. You (or whoever is handling this) will find it under the ESS IMG section. The fields you can choose from all come from a standard SAP HR query. If you need other fields, you can create a modified "Z" version of that query and use it. Also, the fields for the detail tab will also be the ones that show up in the "Change own data" service for Who's Who. It will be confusing since the config you do in the "ITS services" section of ESS config will actually affect the Webdynpro versions too. Hope this helps!

    Hi,
I want to add a custom selection parameter to the who's who in ESS.
I've copied the standard infoset to a z-one, added siome output-fields and this works well.
But now I want to add a selection-parameter which is not included in the ldb pncp (text of the personnel subarea) and I don 't qsee how I can add this. Someone out there who can help me ?

  • Who's Who in ESS for ERP 2005

    Hi Experts,
I have done the technical configuration for BP for ESS (mySAP ERP2005) as per the link and other documents in SDN
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/f6/263359f8c14ef98384ae7a2becd156/frameset.htm
I can see the ESS Home Page in the Portal using the ESSUSER with the required authorizations.
But on clicking Who's who, I do not see anything, no iview, no error but a blank page.
The Who's Who customizing is done in backend but stilll the blank page.
    Please advise.

  • ESS Who's Who - remove link from Org Unit

In Who's Who (web dynpro version for ERP2004), I want to display Organizational Unit in an employee's detail.  I do NOT however want the link to the org chart from this field to be available.
Is there a way to remove the link from the Organizational Unit field?
If not, then my issue is that the link does not work. I get the error "Service EMPLOYEE_ORGCHART_SERVICE does not exist" when I click on a link to the org chart from who's who.  Can someone point towards some documentation on how to implement this?
Bottom line is that I either want to remove the link on Org Unit or make it work.
Has anyone had success with this?
    Thank you!

    Hi,
Please check the following in your customizing.
    1.table V_T7XSSSERRES
    Resource Key EMPLOYEE_ORGCHART_SERVICE
    Directory Path sap.com/ess~org
    Object Name Orgchart
    Window Name Orgchart
    2.table V_T7XSSSERSRV
    Service Key EMPLOYEE_ORGCHART_SERVICE
    Service Link Text Orgchart
    Service Type Webdynpro Application
    Link Resource EMPLOYEE_ORGCHART_SERVICE
    3.
Please maintain the URL of PCD page as
    ROLES://portal_content/com.sap.pct/every_user/com.sap.pct.ess.employee
    /com.sap.pct.ess.roles/com.sap.pct.ess.employee_self_service/
    com.sap.pct.ess.employee_self_service/
    com.sap.pct.ess.area_employee_search/
    com.sap.pct.ess.serv_employee_search
in the table V_T7XSSSERRES for the key EMPLOYEE_ORGCHART_SERVICE and trythe application again.
As for removing the link, that will require a modification to the Who's Who web dynpro.

  • ESS: Who's Who Authorization Checks

    Hi,
I am testing the ESS iView (tcode PZ01) in the Portal and it seems to be restricting the search results by my authorizations.  I am not getting a full list of people in the system.  Anyone know how to turn-off this authorization check?
I noticed this only happens when I changed the ESS Who's Who customizing in the IMG for PZ01.  If I uncheck the checkbox 'Output fields list', then it checks authorzations.  I'm thinking this has something to do with using the BAPI vs. using the query infoset, as the documentation states.

Old post but I have had a similar issue and it was caused by P_ORGIN
    Infortype 0105 subtype?????
Seem if the subtype is restricted then they are not displayed if subtype populated in the HR record.

  • Who's Who: How to refine employee search using customer defined indicator?

    Hello,
It is possible to refine employee search using status indicator STAT2 (Employees' Employment Status). I would like to refine employee search using e.g. Customer defined status indicator STAT1. I created an entry identical to STAT2 but with STAT1
in view V_T77S0 but it did not help at all.
How to refine employee search using customer defined indicator or any other info
    from infotype 0000 or 0001?
    Kind regards,
    Pawel

    Hi
This could be done using the infosets provided in who's who customization screen.
    Pl go through following help.
If this helps, pl do reward.
Who's Who (ESS): Selection and Output
In this activity, you can change the fields for selecting and outputting data for the Who's Who service. The fields of the underlying InfoSet Query are available. Note, however, that text fields cannot be used for data selection (with the exception of the fields Organizational Unit, Position Name, and Job Name).
    You have the following options:
You can specify the fields for selecting an employee.
You can specify the fields for the hitlist, that is, the list of all employees who meet the selection criteria.
You can specify the fields for the detail screen for a selected employee.
All selected fields are automatically transferred to the service in the sequence you chose and are then available for selection or output.
    Standard settings
The standard system contains an InfoSet for the service. It contains default selection and output fields.
    Activities
    1. Check whether the default settings fulfill your requirements.
    2. If you want to change the default values, proceed as follows:
    a) Choose the relevant tab page and remove the indicator in the Use default settings for group box.
To change the selection fields, choose the Selection Fields tab page.
To change the fields of the hitlist, choose the Output Fields List tab page.
To change the fields of the detail screen, choose the Output Fields Detail tab page.
    b) If you want to delete a default field, select the field in the relevant tab page and choose Delete Line from Display Table.
    c) If you want to add an additional field from the InfoSet, select the field in the Fields in InfoSet group box and choose Copy Entry from InfoSet Table. You have two options:
You select an existing field in the tab page and choose Insert Entry in Display Table. The system copies the InfoSet field and inserts it above the selected entry.
You select the blank field at the end of the tab page and choose Insert Entry in Display Table. The system copies the InfoSet field and inserts it at the end of the tab page.
Note that the sequence of the fields in the tab page determines the sequence of the fields in the service.
The selection screen fields are laid out according to the following pattern (maximum of 4 rows and 20 fields):
    1 I 2 I 3 I13 I17
    4 I 5 I 6 I14 I18
    7 I 8 I 9 I15 I19
    10 I11 I12 I16 I20
The fields in the detail screen are laid out underneath each other for a maximum of 20 rows, while the fields in the hitlist are laid out from left to right for each row, for a maximum of 20 fields.
Note: You cannot select by the Employment Status field (P0000-STAT2).
    d) If you want to add a new field that is not in the InfoSet, you have to create a new InfoSet. You then assign the required field to the new InfoSet. Then select the new InfoSet in the InfoSet field in the Parameters group box. Proceed as described above to add the field to the relevant tab page.
For information about creating InfoSets, see Specify InfoSets for Interactive Employee Selection in the IMG for the HR Information System.
Not the SAP naming convention for the standard InfoSet: /SAPQUERY/HR_XX_PA_ESS
The country code "XX" stands for "international." The InfoSet itself is in the global area (cross-client). You can create customer-specific InfoSets by copying an existing entry. Take account of your  customer namespace and set the relevant country code.
Note: The Personnel Number field (P0000-PERNR) must not be added to the InfoSet. If you want to use the personnel number, use the P0001-PERNR field, for example.
    e) In the Sort field of the Output Fields List tab page, you can specify the sort sequence in the hitlist.
Example: You have selected the Last Name and First Name fields for the hitlist. You want the hits to be sorted first of all by the employees' last name, then by the first name. You therefore enter 1 for the last name and 2 for the first name in the Sort field.
    f) Once you have completed your modifications, choose Check Display Table. If the check was successful, choose Save to save your changes. If inconsistencies were found during the check, a message in the relevant line notifies you of them.
    Further notes
In certain circumstances, runtime issues may occur, especially in data selection. If they do, set the Selection Fields indicator in the Use Default Settings for group box. This deactivates the use of the InfoSet Query; instead, the system uses the BAPI_EMPLOYEE_GETDATA method.
You can switch the hitlist and the detail screen to the BAPI_EMPLOYEE_GETDATA method by setting the Output Fields List and Output Fields Detail indicators.
Note that by setting an indicator, you restrict the field selection in the relevant tab page to the interface of the method.
If, in the initial screen, you enter a country for which values have not yet been defined, the system automatically creates an entry that sets all indicators in the Use default settings for group box. You can then edit the entry to suit your requirements.
You can specify whether you want employees' photos to be displayed in the service in the IMG for Employee Self-Service under Determine User Options.
If this helps, pl do reward.

  • Who's who Infoset : Adding a custom infotype

    Dear Experts,
I am in need of your valuable input on Who's who.
Can we include custom infotype (9000) fields to the infoset (by coping into a custom infoset)?
What is configuration needs to be done on portal side to enable the additional fields.
I know to add / remove the fields which are already provided ( from infotype 0,1,2,105 and 32)
    Awaiting your response.
    Cheers
    Jay

    Hi,
Yes you can surely include your custom Infotypes in the Infoset for Who's Who.
There is no need for doing any Java customization unless you want to have a hyperlink and other kind of things for the additional fields.
If you want to show some content from the custom infotype and have a hyperlink to take you to some other location or application in that case you need to do the Java changes.
In all other cases change in the config will suffice.
In the ECC system go to t.code SPRO
Navigate to Personnel Management - Employee Self-Service - Service-Specific Settings - Address book - Who's Who - Who's Who (ESS) : Selection and Output - select the country and replace the standard Infoset with your custom infoset.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers-

  • ESS - who's who  (Address book)

Configuring ESS - who's who --> selection and ouput .. I save the changes,
it does not ask for any transport request # .. just saves it.. how can I do an SCC1  to the test client.. Now in the test client , I am able to make changes (other config changes are not allowed) to the same IMG node.. and I am able to do what i want to.. but eventually how will this go to Q or P without a request #
Has any one come across similar situation ?

    JM -
See SAP NOTE 216115 – Transport of ESS Who’s Who Customizing.  The automatic transport request for the Who’s Who configuration has been deactivated by SAP.
To transport this section, manually generate a transport for table T77WWW_WHO and also SM34, HR_SELECTIONS.  I did this at my previous client and still only the selection screen was transportable.  Maintaining the fields for the Hit List screen and the Profile Detail screen was still a manual process.  Same with the checkbox settings for 'Maintain ESS Settings."  We included these maunual settings as part of our cutover plan.  Not sure if SAP has updated or issued a subsequent note.

  • ESS Who is Who default address

    Dear Guru's
For our customer we are looking for an option to view a default address subtype in the output from Who is Who. I have two questions:
    1. We use our own infoset with infotype 0006 for addresses. Our customer however uses multiple subtypes in infotype 0006. They want to show a certain subtype default in the output results without  selecting this subtype using the advanced search option.
    Is this possbile?
2.Also using our own infoset. The outputresults in the Iview don't seem to match with the records in te backend. For example:
    infotype 0006 consist two records:
    record 1:
    P0006-BEGDA= 01.01.2011
    P0006 - ENDDA = 31.12.9999
    P0006-ANSSA = 1 Permanent residence
    P0006-STRAS = x
    P0006-HSNMR = x
    P0006-PSTLZ= x
    P0006-ORT01 = x
    record 2:
    P0006-BEGDA= 01.01.2011
    P0006 - ENDDA = 31.12.9999
    P0006-ANSSA = 6 nursing address
    P0006-STRAS = y
    P0006-HSNMR = y
    P0006-PSTLZ= y
    P0006-ORT01 = y
The output in the Iview using the infoset and filling P0006-ANSSA in the advanced search option with 1 shows for example
    P0006-ANSSA = 1 Permanent address (record 1)
    P0006-STRAS = y (record 2)
    P0006-HSNMR = x (record 1)
    P0006-PSTLZ= x (record 1)
    P0006-ORT01 = y (record 2)
Is this a problem with FM BAPI_EMPLOYEE_GETDATA ?
    Help needed.

have you made your custom infoset and a query and select those fields which you need to be shown?
    Note that
We can only restrict with the query which is based on the infoset.
In the case of who is who, the query is designed based on selection of
selection fields, output fields & output field list.
We can create infoset query based on subtype field of IT 6 but we cannot
    restrict it to subtype.
I suggest that you use BAPI method for creating search for Who's Who .
You may need to write your own BAPI.

  • ESS Who is Who - Add search criteria

    Hi all,
I have tried searching the forums, but can't find an answer for my problem. I want to add an additional field to the search criteria for the who is who iview.
I am able to change the advanced search, but I want to add a search criteria on the first screen. Changing the service for the adress book (Employee Self-Service -> Service-Specific Settings -> Address Book -> Who's Who -> Who's Who (ESS): Selection and Output) does not change this first screen.
Anyone know how I can make this change?
    Thanks in advance.
    Kind regards,
    Marlies

If by selecting fields you mean in the Who's Who (ESS): Selection and Output, then yes.
I have there available 3 tabs, none have the default settings.
First tab I can set the selectionfields, but when changing/adding a field here, my "simple search" does not change. The changes here are reflected under the advanced search, which is nice, but not what I want.
I simply want to add 1 additional field to the first search screen, so the user does not have to always use the advanced search option.

  • Who's who as WDA ESS?

    Hi there,
I am a brand new IDES Enh. Pack 5 system that I am trying to convince to show me how the Who's Who employee self service works. Today we have a system with Enh. Pack 3 with all our employee data loaded, but we have not configured employee self services as we do not have a java based system to deploy it on.
As a proof of concept and to convince the correct people that we need to upgrade to Enh. Pack 5 sooner rather than later I would really like to be able to show a demo of the Who's Who application. But how can I demonstrate it? It seems like the IDES system has a number of employees defined in client 800, so the question that remains is only what type of configuration is missing. I have already googled quite a bit to try to find a configuration guide or a how to, but all the documentation that I can find relate to the java version of the ESS.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
    Anders

You have to Java version, as this WHOs WHO is not yet available in WD ABAP , it should be in EHP6
    Please refer the above forum
Yes this is not available, only in add on you have it
In Enhancement Package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0, we have not delivered
Who's who and Org Chart applications based on Web Dynpro ABAP.
You can continue using the WebDynpro JAVA applications, for

  • Who's who ESS portal - How to customize the way it's displayed?

    Hi everyone,
I'd like to make a structured list of fields with titles.
Do you know know if it's possible to customize parts in the "output fields detail" view of the who's who.
In the standard view there are two main sections, one for data from OM and the other for PA. Is there any way to change it through the SPRO transaction?
If it's not possible to do it, would it be possible to do it by an easy programming?
    Thank's for your help.
    Aurelien and Michael

    Tank's for your answer.
I think that's what we did...
It's quite hard to explain our problem:
We have exactly what we want about datas we're returning and names  associated, but we would like to display it in a structured way.
    For exemple, we currently have:
Service (standard title, we didn't choose it):
    Organizational Unit: XXXXX
    Others (standard title):
    Data 1: YYYYY
    Data 2: ZZZZZZ
    Data 3: WWW
    Data 4: KKKK
And we would like to have:
Structure (specific title, we wanna choose it):
    Organizational Unit: XXXXX
    Data 1: YYYYY
Blah Blah (specific title, we wanna choose it):
    Data 2: ZZZZZZ
    Data 3: WWW
Personnal datas (specific title, we wanna choose it):
    Data 4: KKKK
Do you know if it's possible with customizing?
