Who to use Migration to keep everything on destination but id user?

Hi, Fisrt of all please forgive my english (i'm french speaking).
I have a G5 iMac and i'm waiting for my new MacBookPro. I will keep both machine. I have all my stuff on the iMac and i want to transfer it on the MacBookPro. I am on an airport network at home. So, i think, that i can't have 2 computers with the same principal user name and password on the network. So be it. But THE question is: When et how in the process do i use Migration. Can i use the initial SetUp and choose my new ID (leaving the one on the G5), then migrate all my stuff to my MacBook Pro. I know that i can do it after but is it possible to do it initially, on the first run?

If you are waiting on the Macbook Pro to arrive, since it will be a new machine you will have to go through the setup wizard. If you want everything on the iMac to be transferred to the Macbook Pro then just use the initial migration when you are first setting up the computer.
The computer when it is first being set up will ask you if you own another mac, if you click yes it will then prompt you to decide whether or not you wish to migrate information, click yes, and hook both machines up through firewire and put your imac into target disk mode ie. restart machine and hold down 'T' when you hear the apple sound. You can then migrate your account from one machine to another.
This will not only move all your files fine but should have no baring on whether or not both computers can be connected to your wireless network at the same time.
Your wireless router does not use your admin username and password on either machine to connect to the network (even in this case if one account is the same as the other), instead when both computers connect to the network they will be given a seperate incremented IP address ie. 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.3. These tell the computers apart from one another, not only this, but both your machines have an airport card built in which have their own unique number ie. Airport ID that tells the two computers apart.
Point being, migrate your user account at the initial step if you want too, this should be fine, even if your imac account and macbook pro account are a duplicate of one another, they can still both still connect tot he same network, as it is the hardware that uniquely identifies them, not the software.

Hi jenaS, sorry to hear that you're havig an issue after refresh of the system, if ur logged in using a live account it shouldnt change or remove the pin, if you are usin a local account the issue there might be in the profile on the system it might be corrupted, do you have a screen shot of the issue?

Your iphone 4 must still be logged into your icloud account. Go to settings>icloud, scroll to bottom of page and tap Delete Account. This will remove all your data from the old device but not from icloud or your iphone 5.

Procmail trouble migrating to Mavericks - everything delivered to /var/mail/ user

My old hardware died Thanksigving afternoon, so I hastily migrated to the new machine I'd already been setting up with Mavericks. One post-migration problem was that user mail was delivered into /var/mail/<username> instead of into Maildirs. mail.log said it was delivering to procmail, but that's not where mail showed up. Removing (renaming) each user's .forward and .procmailrc files fixed this at the cost of turning off procmail's automatic filing.
In the old setup, each user had a .forward file that said |/usr/bin/procmail, also a .procmailrc that started with
# This causes delivery in maildir format.
DEFAULT=$HOME/Maildir/
In each user's home directory, Maildir was a symlink to /var/spool/imap/dovecot/mail/<some long hashcode>. Back in 10.6, each user owned their mail directory and all its contents.
In Mavericks, the mail directories have moved to /Library/Server/Mail/Data/mail/<some long hashcode>. Those directories are completely owned by _dovecot. I repointed the symlinks, but wondered if the different ownership might be a problem.
One seeming bug I found was that line 45 of /Library/Server/Mail/Config/dovecot/conf.d/10-mail.conf says
mail_location = maildir:/Library/Server/Mail/Data/mail/%u
Since %u is <username> and not <some long hashcode>, I think that should say
mail_location = maildir:/Library/Server/Mail/Data/mail/users/%u
But changing it and restarting dovecot had no effect. Only disabling procmail made mail go where it should.
My bottom line question is, how can I get procmail working again?

Possibly I've answered my own question-and-a-half. My mail is being sieved. For the record:
Setting mail_debug=yes in /Library/Server/Mail/Config/dovecot/conf.d/10-logging.conf put some helpful notes into /Library/Logs/Mail/mail-debug.log. Searching for "sieve" in there revealed that dovecot was looking for per-user sieves as /Library/Server/Mail/Data/rules/<long-hash-code>/dovecot.sieve. That path was specified with %u in the dovecot config, so%u must really mean <long-hash-code>, not <username> as I thought. (That was the half-question.)
So apart from having to create those directories and populate them, sieve was already configured and running as a dovecot plugin.

What you propose would not solve the problem I am having. I must not have been clear about it. So I will elaborate.
I have a Power PC with 10.5.8. The admin user account name is RLE 5. I need a password to log into my root user account on my Power PC.
Then I bought a used Mac Pro with a clean install of 10.7.5 and no password set up yet for my admin user account. The admin user account name is Mac Pro. When I turn on the computer it opens to my admin user account where I have access to everything.
I used Migrations Assistant to move my Settings and Users from my Power PC to my Mac Pro. That seemed to to successfully.
So I now have four users on my Mac Pro: RLE 5 (the admin user from my Power PC with the password), Mac Pro (my admin user which does not require a password), and two guest user accounts.
I turn on my Mac Pro and it opens to my Mac Pro admin user account. I don't need to sign in. No problem.
I log out of Mac Pro. On my screen are the four user accounts. I click on RLE 5 (which was my admin user account on my Power PC that I migrated over to my Mac Pro) to log into that account and it asks me for a password. I type in the password I used for my Power PC. It keeps telling me it is the incorrect password.
I cannot log into my user account RLE 5 on the Mac Pro. I am being told I have the incorrect password. I've gone to System Preferences>Accounts and changed the password. It doesn't make a difference.
Also I cannot log into the Guest User account that migrated from the Power PC to the Mac Pro for the same reason. I have also tried to change the password for that Guest User account also but with no luck.
Another interesting thing has happened. I decided to give my Mac Pro admin user account a password by going to System Preferences>Accounts. But when I do a test to sign into my admin user account Mac Pro it tells me it is the wrong password. Luckily I can reboot the computer and it opens to my Mac Pro user without asking for a password. But if I log out of Mac Pro and try to then sign back in with the password it tells me it is the incorrect password.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Backing up my MacBook Pro using Migration Assistant Issues

So a very long story short, I have to get repairs done to my MacBook Pro which was/is operating on 10.5.8. When I left my computer at the store to be sent out, I backed up my computer with Time Machine, under the impression I could just reload everything during start up. Well this didn't work, There was some kind of issue where I would select my drive and it would return to the welcome video every time. So I just set up an Admin because I was given the option of using Migration Assistant. I did so, but it seems that our of 175 GB of applications, information, setting, and files, only 95 GB would get transfered under my old username/Admin user. I went ahead and did it anyway, and it took about an hour before it said a few minuets remaining. Then about a half hour later, it said my information was transfered successfully. What's peculiar now is that a little window appeared in the Finder titled 'Time Machine Backup', and its been loading 107 GB for the past hour. I'm using USB (which I know isn't the fastest method), and it's going abnormally slow, its been roughly an hour and only 2GB have loaded.
My question is this; When all 107GBs of data are transfered, will my repaired laptop have the (for lack of a better term) memory of my laptop before the hard drive wipe?

No idea what is going on & just 2 reasons I never use Time Machine, but are you certain it's not backing up your new Drive & is actually copying from the TM backup to your drive?

I have my new iMac all set up and used Migration Assistant from my old iMac but created a new user account when I first set up my iMac and chose the do not migrate option. I didn't have the right Firewire cord so had to use Migration Assistant to transfer over after I was all set up with internet.
My new iMac is all up and running and I'd like to now migrate all my files to my Macbook Pro without doing it wirelessly (as it took over 24 hours to do last time). I'd like to transfer over files using my external hard drive.

Creating an account in System Preferences isn't the same as just putting a home folder into /Users/. The account needs to be created first.

What is the best method for moving to a new Retina MacBook Pro from an Early 2011 15-inch MacBook Pro using Migration Assistant?

I'd like to transfer all data to the new MacBook as seamless as possible. Don't want to reinstall software. Using Migration Assistant in past was successful, but I always used Firewire or Ethernet.
Apple's Thunderbolt cable is too expensive at $49. Wifi is way too slow. (Transfering my 500GBs was going to take over 100 hours.) Do I need to get a Thunderbolt-to-Gigabit Ethernet adapter and cable? That's about the same price as the Thunderbolt cable. Is transfer over USB 2 possible? Would I be better off restoring from my Carbon Copy Clone on my USB 2 external drive?
I do not use Time Machine.

That's what I used, although I already had the ethernet cable. Just directly connected both machines (after turning off Airport on the old one), no router or anything else, and ran Migration Assistant on both ends. Transfered a user account with about 30Gb data, nothing else.

Hold down Option key while clicking on menu bar and Save as will appear.

Have you set both to never sleep?
Is the source (old) Mac's software up to date (including the Migration Assistant for Mac OS X Snow Leopard update)?
Is the old Mac healthy? Have you run Verify Disk on it lately?
The estimates are wildly inaccurate under the best of circumstances. How long has it been stuck?

It would also be extremely helpful to those trying to help you if you complted your Profile so we at least know what iMac and version of OS X is installed. Click Your Stuff in the upper right then click Profile and complete the necessary fields including what part of the planet you're located.

The problem is that you try to merge different Apple IDs (your old account and your me.com account) which is not possible. Apple will not let you do that.
