Who updates Apple Maps data

I have repeatley updated pin locations in the desktop version of Apple Maps. At least one or two everyday and have'nt seen a single pin moved. I'm just curious to where this data goes as it clearly doesn't get read or seen

My sentiments exactly. Apple's plan was to fix all the data errors by crowd sourcing. It appears they neglected to plan for actual input from said "crowd".
I've reported errors to Google (Maps), I recieved email when I made the request and another email when they completed it.

No, the Mail program doesn't have a fatal flaw (though it does have plenty of small irritating features) - there is something wrong with your installation or configuration.
1) run disk utility and perform a disk repair (not repair permissions). Since you have Mt Lion it would be most convenient to reboot into recovery mode (command r on startup) and run disk utilty there. Disk Utility cannot repair the startup volume which is why you should restart in recovery mode. This will ensure your problem isn't a had directory.
2) create a new user account and configure Mail for at least one email account (assuming you have more). Make sure it is one that locks up. If the problem doesn't exists on the new account your problem exists in the account you use. If so, do you use any mail plugins?
3) If the problem exists in the new account start Console and look for errors involving Mail. Do you see any hints there? Don't post all the error messages but feel free to post any that mention Mail specifically.

I see Statue of Liberty fixed with correct 3D in maps app from a blog....but when I open my maps app,the statue was not fixed....I think that maps update did't came to me....I have a ipad 3 with always connected to net....how to get new map updates....I'm from Sri Lanka...

Ovi maps data update through Ovi Suite A bug?

Don't know if its a problem but the darn Ovi suite keeps prompting to update the maps data in my N97 mini even I have already done it twice. Seems like it just read and check my phone maps data and just erase everything and download all the data over again. Doesn't seems to be optimized. Should have program the updater check the data files size or date tag and just update those outdated files, instead of everything. If I have a huge maps data in my phone it'll be a loooong wait.
Anyone having the same problem?
I'm still getting prompt today to update my maps data. Doubt that nokia tech can update their maps data that fast.

When Apple update his own Maps? I live in Pakistan and using iPhone. When i search any place or direction of area Apple map give error that direction is not available in ur area also when we use find my friend application to locate our friend Apple not locate right place because area and street or not updated in Pakistan, majority of People using Apple phone in Pakistan. Most of area in Pakistan not updated in Pakistan they show only grand trunk road. Area name are not mentioned. Apple should update his Msps like a Google Maps. If any idea for updating Apple Maps plz tell me.

How can I update a location in the Apple Maps app?

The location across the road from my office building shows that a high school is there, but that is not the case. The high school has not been located across the road in over 20 years. I found this error when I was updating the location information in Google Places and thought to check the location accuracy in the Apple Maps app. How can I submit for a correction to the location info?

Apple has always included a way to "report a problem" in iOS 6 Maps, but because it does so in the context of Yelp local search information, it's not readily obvious that this button is for reporting map errors rather than just filing a grievance against a business or Yelp's data (below).

Most recent Maps data update wastes disk space

I noticed that used disk space on my N9 increased by 2GB and found that I now had these folders under cities: diskcache, diskcache_, MapLoader, and MapLoader_. I recently updated my maps and evidently the old diskcache and MapLoader folders were renamed with underscores and new ones were created, so I now have 2GB worth of the old Maps data and 2GB worth of the newest Maps data. This didn't happen after previous updates. I assume it should be safe to delete the diskcache_ and MapLoader_ folders. Has anyone else noticed this?

There's not much effort needed to find tones of threads for WP and almost none for Symbian.
There are even official video stickers of HERE Maps working on Lumia phones.
So I presume that yes, everybody is discussing HERE services round here. Why not do that for Symbian?
Besides, Nokia has made a commitment to provide lifetime voice-guided nav for Symbian devices. Without updates, the navigation is useless. If Lumia based phones are getting updates, I see no reason for us not getting them. I don't care who owns HERE (which is still Nokia, BTW). I purchased a Nokia phone.

I agree. I liked the previous map app. The version 6 app is powered by tomtom, I think. No more street view. I don't care for the new overhead view when dropping a pin. Plus, the current map app doesn't have the local points or data base that the google maps app had. Too bad I can't go back to the old map app.

How to I get up to date information in Apple Maps?

I just upgraded to Mavericks and was trying Apple Maps, but the maps are showing parks that haven't existed for 10 years, and are missing businesses that have been in my area for over 10 years?
Is there a way to get more up to date information in Apple Maps?

Not sure what you want me to say. Again, the data is as up to date as the providers have it. There's no "cache" or other function you can clear to get newer data. Why the providers, which you can see listed here if you wish:

If I update from ios 5.0.1 to 5.1.1 will I lose my map data? When I updated to 5.0 I lost all my GPSHD Motion X data - 25 Gbytes.

If I update from IOS 5.0.1 to 5.1.1 will I lose all my GPSHD Motion X map data? When I updated to IOS 5.0.1 I lost about 25GBytes of map data because Itunes will not back up my GPSHD map data.

I havn't used that app, but you shouldn't lose any data by updating to 5.1.1 from 5.0.1.
You can make sure you have a backup before updating.

is there any update regarding Apple maps from Apple...? I live in sydney. I Know there are lots of issues with Apple maps but i reported more than 3 issues and i could see there is no resolution for those issues ?

Apple does not broadcast anything. The audio encoding options selected for content is controlled by the services the content comes from. Apple just distributes content they are provided with. I am not 100% sure but I believe the current ATV only supports 5.1 so it is pretty likely 7.1 could not be supported with out a new ATV device update, and they have not updated ATV in about four years now. Starting to wonder if they are going to. They used to own this market and now have pretty much lost it. You might check Amazon Fire. I think it might support 7.1. I finally gave up on waiting on Apple and bought one and am mostly happy with it.

i would like to know, if somebody could give me a rough number of how much the Apple Maps app uses per hour for navigation ?

Apple's Maps app uses vector graphics, so it doesn't have to download data everytime your view changes, & also has an offline mode...you can download quite a large area over WiFi & then use this cache to navigate.
So, I really wouldn't worry too much about its data usage. Most tests I've read indicate it uses about 80% less data than Google Maps.
