Who uses Google Analytics?

I just finally just recieved my invitation code (took a
little under one
month) and I'm wondering for the users who use this on their
own websites -
are you guys placing the tracking script on every single
page?
How well is this working for you? Do you like it?
Just some general questions before I dive into this.

  • Want to use google analytics in iweb. Possible?

    i transfered domain to .mac and had to convert site to iweb 08 from dreamweaver. is there anyway to continue using google analytics? google webmaster tools? insert any code? adsense seems to work but google informs me apple will share the profits!
    are there any web analytics tools native to iweb?

    Shiels,
    try the AddGoogleAnalytics automator script from here: <http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/automator/addgoogleanalyticsaction.html>
    Works fine for me. Even more, Henrik is very helpful in case of problems.

  • Using Google Analytics with iWeb site

    Is it possible to use Google Analytics with an iWeb site? They have code they want me to put before the </body> tag.... and I can't find that tag. How do I get the code to show in iWeb? Can I insert this with an HTML snippet?
    Thanks!

    Hello ruralart,
    After saving the automator workflow as a Finder Plugin,
    mount you iDisk in the finder (ex. click on the iDisk icon in the left pane of a Finder window),
    goto the folder iDisk / Web / Sites , select this folder "sites",
    control-click on the folder to run the “Add Google Analytics” workflow.
    Note : when you have iDisk Sync = ON, you'll see that the folder "web" is an alias so Automator will not work in this situation. You'll have to turn iDisk Sync OFF.
    Kind regards,
    Leo

  • Can I use google analytics with an Adobe media server 5 setup?

    i have an Adobe media server and were  trying to capture some metrics. Wondering whether we can use google analytics?

    Hello, I think it always been version specific, & is no longer even included...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5308
    But as mentioned there, some older versions are available, but I think you'll have to figure a way to run your version on the older OS.

  • HT2513 Can I share an iCal calendar with someone who uses Google Calendar?

    That's basically the question.  I use iCal and I want to share one of my calendars with someone who uses Google Calendar and doesn't have any Apple products.  Is this possible?
    Thanks,
    Mark

    I didn't explain correctly. Right now I share (subscribe) a calendar on Mobile Me , in addition to my own personal calendar. That shared calendar is staying on Mobile Me and I need to be able to access it once I move my personal calendar to iCloud. That is, if I use iCloud can I share calendars that are not on iCloud, but are on MobileMe?
    You can't do this: when you migrate your MobileMe account to iCloud the calendars will be transferred there and no longer available on MobileMe.
    You can share calendars privately or publicly from iCloud: private calendars can only be viewed by nominated iCloud members; public calendars can be viewed by anybody in a CalDAV client such as iCal or Google Calendar (though they are non-editable).

    I just purchased an iPad and am looking at using Google Docs... I also have a MacBook Pro and a Mac Pro... I am a college student and am interested in the syncing capabilities of Google Docs...
    How efficient is Google Docs? Pluses? Minuses? If you use it currently, would you recommend it? If not, what do you use/recommend?

  • Using Google Analytics with .Mac/iWeb

    Does anybody know how to embed the Google snippet into iWeb pages?

    Not so simple.
    Doing this will give confusing results as the widget markup is recorded as well.
    To avoid this you have to add the code post publishing and this is not very convenient for .Mac users - especially those who need blog comments etc.
    If you are using Leopard you can make life a lot easier by using this application...
    http://www.zarrastudios.com/ZDS/iWebBuddy.html
    .... and I'm sure you'll find an apple script to do the same thing.

  • Using Google Analytics with Muse site and /blog

    Hi there,
    I have a simple website that I have put together using Muse: movingpictureTV.com
    For the site I have added analytics code to pick up figures etc.
    The sites Wordpress blog is found at movingpictureTV.com/blog
    Does this mean I need separate tracking code to pick up data for the blog or will the code used on the main site URL pick up the blog traffic too?
    Many thanks for your help,
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
    Usually, when google spiders visit your site, it index all the hard coded links on the home page. However, you can add analytics code to every page. It will expedite the indexing of the pages.
    Regards,
    Aish

  • Google Analytics support

    I expect many people who create web galleries also use Google Analytics, and it would be nice to be able to enable this in the web module rather than having to add the code to the head.html file each time a new version of LR is released.
    It would also be nice of the analytics code didn't trigger a browser hit on OS/X each time an image is viewed in the web module when the code has been added to the head.html. This doesn't happen in windows, only OS/X - it's like it is evaluating the javascript in the code.

    hey-- I just successfully created an Experiment and updated my settings in GA to redirect users 100% of the time and I saw it working 100% of the time.  When setting up your experiment everything validated correctly?  For me I got a weird cookie error when trying to validate the experiment and it was because I was using the "_setDomain" variable in my regular GA code on my site so if you are using that variable in your normal GA code then check to see what the value of "_setDomain" is (like www.yoursite.com) and then to revalidate and fix this error you have to add a line ABOVE where you put the experiment code:
    <script>
    _udn = "www.yourdomain.com";
    </script>
    Once I fixed that cookie error it validated and it was working fine on my end.  If you have no validation errors then you should update your experiment quickly to 100% of the time to truly verify that its working and then set it back to 50% or whatever value you prefer.  If it is working you might even be able to tell in your Experiment reports screen as well.
    Good luck.

  • Tracking with google analytics

    We have a desktop app we have built with air, and the client
    has requested usage statistics to see how much people are using
    it... What I'm wondering is what is the best way to monitor the
    usage? We already use google analytics on their website... I'm
    wondering if we can use it from inside the AIR app as well. If so
    how would you go about doing that?
    I thought about loading an external web page off the web
    server that had the analytics tracking on it and displaying that on
    the app somewhere... What would that show up like in google
    analytics?

    Hi p-dog
    I am Paul Sanderson - the creator of Air Analytics: http://www.airanalytics.net/
    Air Analytics is a native Air Flex/Flash solution built from the ground up that gives you rich insights into your applications, use, installs, versions ect.
    I would love for you to try out and use Air Analytics.
    If you go over to Air Analytics and register I will activate you and you can start trying it out.
    This also goes for everyone else in this forum who would like to give it a go.
    Thanks Paul

  • Iweb'09 blog comments and google analytics

    My apologies if this has been asked before.
    My blog no longer allows comments. This occurred when I used the Automator program to add google analytics to my site. The good news is that google analytics does work. I host the site on mobile me so I have 2 questions
    (1) Is there a way to get google analytics to work and allow blog comments within a moble me hosted site?
    if not, how can I remove google analytics to restore the blog comment capability and is there a monitoring package available within the mobile me world?
    thanks

    I had the same problem. From the little research I've done it appears that you can't have the comments on and run GA at the same time. I have seen some messages on here that claimed to move a picture on the pages that had comments in order to restore the ones that were lost. I didn't have any luck with it.
    Here's and interesting site that references it in the comments section.

  • Google Analytics Automator breaks iWeb blog comments

    Hi
    I added a blog for our Small Business site that I created with iWeb. We used Google Analytics and the Automator script add the HTML snippet to track visits on our site. Since I added the blog I realized that after running the GA automator script the "Add a comment" link disappears.
    Kinda defeats the purpose of the blog. I have to choose between tracking how many visitors have been on the blog, or visitors posting comments, but I can't have both. How can I fix this and track how many visitors were on our site, and have a blog where visitors can leave comments? Any ideas and solutions would be most welcome. Thanks,
    Zoltan

    Unfortunately, as you have discovered, inserting Google Analytics into your site requires post editing. This means that you cannot just publish directly to MobileMe from iWeb - to insert the analytics you need to publish to a folder, insert and then place the Blog directly on your iDisk - unfortunately, this way you loose the features that your iWeb blog provides when published directly to MME - i.e. Blog comments.
    Do you have an ordinary website too or is it just a blog? If you have an ordinary website, what some people do, including myself, is set up a blog with WordPress, E-blogger, or http://www.posterous.com and link to it from your iWeb site.
    If you are just after setting up a blog on its own without a site, then I would suggest you look at http://www.wordpress.com, http://www.eblogger.com or posterous (link provided). You can set up a blog with any template you like and can add entries on line at any time, rather than being limited to updating with the domain.sites file as you are with iWeb.
    In WordPress, you can also add as many pages as you like, so you can effectively have a website as well as a blog, so the other alternatives might be a better bet than iWeb and I think they have their own built in analytics too.

  • Google Analytics breaks iWeb blog comments

    Does anybody know a workaround for Google Analytics' breaking of iWeb blog comments? Apparently, from some posts I've read, StatCounter and other traffic stat services break iWeb blog comments, too... so it's apparently an iWeb issue rather than a Google Analytics issue. FWIW, I'm publishing to my MobileMe personal domain. Thanks in advance!

    I found a decent way of adding Google Analytics to all pages, without using HTML Snippits (which cause analytics to track those odd page names like widget2_markup.html), that doesn't break MobileMe comments, and doesn't require any post-processing of your iWeb site. Just Publish and go! Open up your iWeb app bundle, and drill down to Contents/Resources/Scripts/Site. Open up the file iWebSite.js in TextEdit (or your favorite text editor), and paste the following at the bottom of the file:
    // Begin Google Analytics
    gaTrackerId = 'ss-ddddddd-d'; // insert your tracker id here
    document.observe('dom:loaded', function() {
    var gaJsHost = ( ('https:' == document.location.protocol) ? 'https://ssl.' : 'http://www.') + 'google-analytics.com/ga.js';
    var script = new Element('script', { 'src': gaJsHost});
    var gaTrack = function() {
    if (
    !script.readyState
    || /loaded|complete/.test(script.readyState)
    var pageTracker = gat.getTracker(gaTrackerId);
    pageTracker._trackPageview();
    script.observe('load', gaTrack);
    script.observe('readystatechange', gaTrack);
    document.body.appendChild(script);
    // End Google Analytics
    Credit to this solution goes to this blog post. I got the idea to find a way of using Google Analytics in Prototype (since iWeb sites use the Prototype JavaScript framework) and found that blog snippit.
    And yes, since this is editing the iWeb application bundle, you may need to reapply this hack if/when iWeb is updated. Hopefully though, some enterprising iWeb engineer is reading this and will add proper Google Analytics support to iWeb for us.

  • Data tracking with Google Analytics

    Hi
    Can I use Google Analytics with iweb?

    Yes. You can add it to each page using iWeb SEO which requires it to be reapplied each time you edit a page.
    You can also add it an HTML snippet which is a one time application. However, the snippet requires a bit more effort up front. Wyodor posted detailed instructions on how: IWEB : ADDING GOOGLE ANALYTICS WITHOUT EDITING THE WEBPAGE.
    Have you looked at the information that you can get about visitors by using a counter from StatCounter.com. It's quite comprehensive and much easier to add to each page.
    Click to view full size
    Old Toad's Tutorial #13 - Adding a StatCounter as an HTML Snippet describes how to add the counter.
    I've used both and find the info from StatCounter more complete regarding visitors.

  • Why do Google Analytics and Sharepoint give difference in numbers?

    Hi all,
    We are using Google Analytics with our Sharepoint Intranet portal. Just recently we’ve decided to compare the numbers with the real server logs as the numbers from google where a little bit suspicions. After some data analyzing, it looks like the numbers are totally different, and my boss is not believing and numbers from google analytics now. The problem is that we are using google analytics on our website as well (hosted in different place and based on different CMS though), but because of the differences in Sharepoint my boss is questioning the numbers for the web as well! Is it possible that the Sharepoint here is the problem and google analytics is not working properly with it, because I don’t know – the way it is structured, caching servers, etc, not sure. Please, could you explain that a little bit to me if you had similar experience or might know what it works like that.
    Thank you very much in advance for your help.
    stone28

     Google Analytics Tracking Code is executed (behind the scenes) in the client's browser and if that can access the Internet to register the hit on the Google Analytics server, GA should collect the Intranet traffic just fine. I can't see why the GA script will not fire if someone visits that page.
    If you have one HTML page with no images or external files called from it like stylesheets or javascript this will be one line on the IIS log each time it is loaded. If you have an HTML page with an external stylesheet and 3 images this will be logged on 5 lines in the log file each time the page is requested because you are requesting 5 files from the web server. Usually your statistics software will filter out all the requests for images, stylesheets and other files and just look at the pages that were loaded because we usually don’t care how many times the logo on each page was loaded.
    When you type in a URL to a specific page on a sub site that folder hierarchy and file doesnt really exist in the physical file system. What happens is the request is intercepted by SharePoint/WSS and routed to a DLL that renders the file from another location (a ghosted page) or renders the page from the SQL database (unghosted page). So your IIS logs are going to contain a whole lot of requests for DLLs like owssrv.dll.
