  • Happy Birthday Acer Community!

Well its been one year since we launched the Acer Community and what a year it’s been!
As I said last November, this is truly a global Community, our members now come from over 200 countries!  Check out the map below which graphically shows where our Members are visiting from.
Acer Community's first year was all about expansion.  In order to reach more Acer customers, we added German, Spanish and Portuguese communities to our English community.
We launched our Knowledge Base which now is getting huge hits each day.  Its a great place to look for answers to common questions.
Acer Community is also on Facebook! Yes you can read, reply and start new forum topics right from our english Acer facebook pages.  Visit https://www.facebook.com/AcerUSA/app_384701878271850 to check it out.
And finally we added Ideas.  I personally feel this is the most important expansion we put in place this year!  The reason is simple,  Acer Community discussion forums and knowledge base are focused on support.  Ideas gives us the oppurtunity to get closer to your expectations.  How should Acer change, adapt, excell?  It allows us to talk directly to you and consider your needs and desires for future innovations and services.
Yes, its been a great year.  Year two will see our focus shift to content and making Acer Community not only a great place to get support but a fun place to visit.  I’m working to bring contests, polls, expert interviews and blogs that are educational and fun to read.
But in the end, a community is made up of its members.  That’s what this celebration is all about.  As a member, you have access to thousands of Acer owners, most of them happy to help you or just chat about shared interests.  Happy Birthday Acer Community!

    Happy Birthday, Acer Community!
And Best Wishes to all of our Community Members and ACEs who have made it a success!

  • "Happy Birthday" calendar event virus?

I have an event called "Happy Birthday" on my actual birthday in September on my iPad calendar. Somehow, it's growing. I know have 25 events on my calendar on the same day and a new one appears each time I check.
It says its from "Contacts" with an email of a bunch of letters and numbers then @virtual.
I can't delete these events. I also don't want to remove this calendar as it's got too much work-related events.
I've also just noticed it's done this on 2011 and 2013 but no other year.
Is this a virus? Can anyone help get this removed?

    Hi guys,
I think I've found a solution. I went to https://www.google.com/calendar/iphoneselect and turned off the contacts birthday calendar from syncing. I then went into settings for my calendars and turned them all off as well as my contacts. I then checked the contacts had been deleted from the device and the calendar was also gone. I then closed both the calendar and contacts apps, and then turned the calendar and contacts back on in the settings app. Duplicates are now gone!
Hope it works for you as we'll. even if you don't show a birthday calendar go ahead and update the I formation at this link and it may still fix the problem. My friend did have the calendar but repeated birthdays were still gone once she updated at this link.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BUG 3169222!!

    Dear Bug 3169222,
today is your second birthday and I wish you a happy one!
We created you two years ago. Since then, you cost us a lot of time and money, it's true, it' true. We created memory leaks and we had to buy profiling software since we cannot use the OJVM because of you.
However, we simply cannot imagine a JDeveloper version without you.
Oracle decided to fix you in a version after JDeveloper 12, so you can rest easy.
We will have many more years together, and many more birthdays to celebrate.
All the best from all of us here.
    Sascha

And probably one of the reason it is in this state is
that there is no test-case that allows us to
reproduce. We uploaded a test case alright. I cannot tell you the TAR number, since I cannot search for TARs older than 365 days. If we had not provided a test case, it would not be a bug, wouldn't it. Oracle Support just lets those TARs bounce as we all know.
The bug not only applies to JIntegra btw, it also affects software modules running other JNI-using software (like our Morena TWAIN library). Probably it's the combination of JNI and obfuscated Java libraries that OJVM cannot handle.

Hey, I almost missed it.  Photoshop is/was 25 years old on the 19th February 2015.  There's a pretty snazzy account page (that I have not explored yet) and news reports all over the web.  Happy birthday Photoshop and to everyone who makes it such a stand out product.  It's coming up to 11pm on the west coast, so I guess the boss has taken you all out to celebrate!

    frank,
every negative experience is an opportinity to learn.   deleting or moderating these experiences would be turning away the chance to learn.   as long as users follow the participation rules, we allow even the most negative posts to remain.
as you said, forums are inherently negative by nature as users typically come here to solve a problem.   those of us who try to solve the problems are in the minority.   we certainly appreciate users such as yourself who voluntarily return to the forum to help out, especially those who initially came here to solve a problem themselves.
    thank you as well.

  • Looking for software that allows you to make "who wants to be a millionaire".  Must be able to put in your own questions and HAS to be for the Mac.  Help!

I am a teacher who would love to create the game "who wants to be a millionaire" with my own questions.  I would use this for test reviews.  I can't not find something for the mac.  It is out there for the PC, but my class room is mac based.  I can't use anything that will allow me to run the mac in windows, either.  Anyone know of a software that will allow me to input my own questions?  Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

You may possibly find something here:

  • Happy Birthday iMac

This month is the 10th birthday of the iMac! Wow, has it been that long since I stood out front of my local Comp-USA waiting for the truck to arrive with the first of the beautiful bondi-blue all-in-ones?
I had been looking for an alternative to Windows for quite a while. At the time, my PC was actually running OS/2 Warp. A wonderful OS but there wasn't much you could do with it aside from the built in IBM Works suite and a pretty good version of Netscape. I was sick to death of Windows 95 and it's bugs.
If I remember, my iMac came with System 7.5 or 8. The difference between Mac OS and Windows was night and day. It actually worked and it worked intuitively. No more hoops to jump thru just to get a file copied or converted. I was hooked from day one.
Since then, I've had a Strawberry iMac, a G3 Graphite SE slot loader, a G5 flat-panel domer, and now an Intel Core 2 Duo. My original Bondi took a lightning hit thru the modem, so I sold it as a kid's computer. The Strawberry gave up just after upgrading it to OS X a few years ago. The Graphite lasted for almost 5 years of constant use before the power board failed. The warranty on the domer just expired but it's still going strong, and I love my Intel iMac.
So Happy Birthday iMac! In the last 10 years, you've established a new standard for computing and every year you keep pushing the bar higher. I believe the next 10 will be even greater.
And here's an ATABOY to Steve Jobs too

    Happy Birthday iMac!
My first was a 1999 Grape iMac DV (the colour has stuck on me even since!) which got me through university, that, my iMac G4 20" and 2.8GHz Core 2 Extreme are all going strong and all wonderful.
    cheers

  • This is for people who wants to mirror all they apple devices when they travel.

this is for people who wants to mirror all they apple devices when they travel and don't want to unplug everything from the apple tv and take it with them, you can get the amazon fire tv stick and download an app called airplay upnp or the reflector app and mirror all of your apple devices to it, it is great for traveling easy to setup and move around, for example if your traveling and want to use it in the conference room and then want to take with you back to the hotel for the night and plug it in and keep on doing that routine.
it will be great to use hopeful until apple comes out apple with their own apple tv stick

The Verizon DVR is admittedly not the sharpest box on the market. I admit to giving up on the multi-room DVR product, it just never worked satisfactorily for me.
Hopefully features/functions issues  will improve in the near term with the Cisco/Scientific Atlanta box that obviously isn't going to make Q1. I admit I have ceased  holding my breath. Something does have to happen fairly soon because 160gb drives are literally going out of production.
You do however make two statements that incorrect. Current TiVO's only need 1 cable card, since the standard cable card today in Verizon's stock  is the M-Card. You also have the option with TiVO of paying either an annual fee, or a one time fee, both of which are lower in the long term than the month to month fee. Alternatively you can by the Moxi DVR, and it includes lifetime service in the purchase price.
While in theory a truck roll costs $79, in practice if it is for a Cable Card install, it is free (I think  FCC regulations preclude the charge).
Apparently there is nothing in Verizon's order processing system that tells reps that there is no charge for Cable Card installations, so they often quote the $79 fee because that is the standard charge for technician to come out. As far as I can tell (and there have been lots of posts about cable card installs), no one has in fact been charged the $79 fee..

  • Happy Birthday Mac!

Sorry, can't help myself. Mac is like a friend

Did you set some birthday candles around your Mac buddy
& sing some songs of love, such as Happy Birthday to You! ?
Or take it out for a night on the town, or a nice drive to view
the out-of-doors, so it could sleep easier on dreary nights?
I could almost visualize a summer camp out with several
old Macs sitting semi-circle around a night camp fire...
with a rosey glow on their faces, as if laughing or on some
off-brand of moderately ineffectual anti-viral champagne.
We think they think -- but do they really dream?
    Good luck & happy computing!
