  • If I buy motion 5 will I get the upgrade to version 6 for free?

Motion 5 was released in 2011 and I suspect that a new version will be coming in the next few months. Does apple have an upgrade policy? Will I get Motion 6 as a free upgrade if I purchase Motion 5 now?

Apple stated at the release of FCPX that it was pursuing a modular development scheme.  Like a DSLR, you buy the body, then only the accessories that you need.
Have you seen mObject for Motion?  SliceX? TrackX?
FxPlug has been updated recently and offers so much to third party develpers to so things that Apple hasn't the time for.
And AE doesn't let you create your own plugins for PPro without learning to write code.  Motion does that for FCPX, and it is POWERFUL!  Show me any other NLE that has this much grass roots power.

So, do it, or get off the pot.

Anyone know when the X300 will get the faster processor like the X200?

Given that the X300 is still fairly new, I would doubt a product refresh or update anytime soon.

  • When will I get my pre-ordered Verizon iPhone 5?

I was the FIRST person to pre-order a black 64G at BestBuy. Does this guarantee that I'll receive it on the 21st?

I doubt that there is a guarantee of any kind.
Ask Best Buy when you will get it.
No one here could know such a thing.

  • Will I get nano sim with my iPhone 5?

Do iPhone 5's purchased from apple come with a nano sim or do I have to get this from my network supplier?

I've got my pre order in from apple online store & went into 3 store yesterday to check about nano sim. They handed one straight over after scanning it in & taking my number for free as already had contract. They said it would be swapped over in 24 hours. They also gave me a nano to micro sim converter so it would work in current phone. I suggest going to your network provider before Friday and the queues to get it like me

  • How much will it cost to upgrade an iphone 3gs to an iphone 4 unlocked

So i got an iphone 3gs earlier unlocked... and i want to know what are the requirenments to upgrading to an iphone 4 or and iphone 4s... i got my 3gs off of a friend and i was wondering if i could trade it for an iphone 4 or 4s... my iphone has a cracked screen.. speaker kinda bad... please i need help... i really want an iphone 4s... Replay soon

The unlocked iPhones are sold out of contract meaning you pay full retail price.  iPhone 4S starts at 649-849 depending on the 16GB, 32GB or 64GB.  To get them at the 199-399 price, you'll need to sign a 2 year agreement with AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint.
There are online sites who will give you cash for your broken iPhone, but dont expect much.

  • Anyone know how to reach someone in customer service who will not out and out LIE to us?

Just so frustrated right now... in the near week since my husband's iPhone was stolen, we have spoken to four different reps and three so-called supervisors. Each one has either made the problem worse or actually lied to us. Does anyone know how to reach someone at Verizon who will help us? We have three iPhones with Verizon and are ready to leave for AT&T.
So far, this is what we've had:
    1. As we were tracking the phone with the police to get it back, Verizon tech support advised us to wipe the phone because we'd still be able to track it. WRONG. Phone lost forever. Verizon clearly does not understand what "wipe" means on MobileMe. What they should have said is, "We don't know for sure, so don't wipe it."
    2. Rep transferring my husband's phone number to a backup handset transferred MY number to that phone, deactivated MY iPhone and reported it as stolen. When they were trying to fix it, we were assured that our unlimited data plan would not be affected. WRONG. Reps are now refusing to give it back.
    3. Next rep advised us to get insurance on the phones because if anything happens, they are replaced for free. WRONG. $199 deductible, which we found out from the next rep.
    4. The supervisor we spoke to yesterday said she would pull the tapes from the call center, review them to make sure that IT gave us the wrong information, and then call us back the next day with a discounted rate on a new iPhone. She gave us her name and direct number... both of which were bogus. The number goes to a media specialist at some public school. Subsequent reps have told us that there is no way anyone at Verizon would say that.
    5. We have been promised three times that a supervisor would call us within 24 hours... almost a week later, no calls from anyone.
So if anyone has any leads on how to speak to someone who will make this nightmare go away, please, please, let me know. Thank you.

The point of this board, being a peer to peer forum, is so that people can learn how to resolve issues that others have already gone through. Please let us know how it was resolved so that others in the future with the same issues can be assisted.

  • Will E61 get a new firmware?

Will E61 get an upgrade. Lately I feel that everybody is using N95's and they are getting all the attention.
I would really like to see demand paging and variable frequnecy on my E61. E61 is still a solid and extremely useful device (having a keyboard and landscape screen makes for a great ssh/vnc platform for quick fixes on the go
Is such an upgrade coming or I should think of an upgrade ?
    thank you.

    Hard to say.
Now there is E61i in the wild.
On the other hand, the actual firmware of E61 is very stable.
The only thing that could be improved for E61 is the active standby screen - more customizable.
Maybe Nokia will think to us too...

  • Upgrade to New iPhone from 4s

Is there a way I will be able to upgrade to the "iPhone 5" when I'm under a 2 year contract with a 4s?

But can I buy it a full retail price from Verizon? or would it have to be from somewhere else?
Also, how would I swap my phone line to the new phone?

  • I have read that new purchases of macbook pro will get free upgrade to LION OS. When and how do I go about this?

I have read that new purchases of macbook pro will get free upgrade to LION OS. When and how do I go about this?

    http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2011/06/06lion.html
The Mac OS X Lion Up-To-Date upgrade is available at no additional charge via the Mac App Store to all customers who purchased a qualifying new Mac system from Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller on or after June 6, 2011. Users must request their Up-To-Date upgrade within 30 days of purchase of their Mac computer. Customers who purchase a qualifying Mac between June 6, 2011 and the date when Lion is available in the Mac App Store will have 30 days from Lion’s official release date to make a request.
Currently that's the only information available. I suspect more will be posted as we get closer to launch.

  • Where can I get in touch with someone at Telstra who will give me answers to what I actually ask?

I'll do my best to keep my well trodden story short, but I need ADSL at my premises, I have been trying for well over 10 years for this to happen, as well as my neighbours have been trying as well. As you can imagine I am at my wits end, every single person I ever get in contact with from telstra all tell me the same answers, but they aren't to the questions I am asking. Simply put, over the years i have been told:a) I live to far away from the exchangeb) there is too much interference in the linec) you are on a pair gain and can't be taken off it (I no longer get this reason, Telstra insists that I am not on pair gain but I really really think we still might be, as this property was only ever meant to have one phone line, however now there are two houses on it, plus a 3rd line was put in for a granny flat when my grandmother lived there (she has long since passed)  Why i don't accept these answers is that on the road i live, companies and private homes can get quite a good adsl+2 connection. At one time they could not. But an upgrade to their line occurred many years ago, and then they could get ADSL then ADSL+2. Meanwhile my side of the road haven't seen any such upgrades. All the houses on this side of the road have home phone line problems. My grandmother had the hotline number for emergency/disability/priority service on speed dial she used it so often. I ended up just cancelling my landline altogether because i was tired of paying for a sub par service that always had faults and popped and crackled and hissed and completely died any time there was rain. My parents who live next door to me still have their landline, but as they are getting more and more used to mobile phones are realising without a fixed line broadband service, the fixed line phone is getting less use and just a burden to have, with all the same problems I used to have. In fact, they can't even get the caller ID function to work on their phone due to the "interference", which is line neglect and degredation, and in need of replacement just like the other side of the road, but we keep getting the excuse "we live too far away from the exchange". It's a lie. A blatant lie and I don't accept it. I accept that we are on the edge of where adsl can extend to, and that we might not get blisteringly fast speeds on it, but when someone, one of my friends, who lives almost directly accross the road from me can play his online games, and watch netflix at the same time, being told I live too far away is just not acceptable.  Here is an image from ADSL2Exchange of my location to the exchange. Yes, I know that my line doesn't go as the crow flies, but...  in the picture below, the red dots from top to bottom represent my parents house, then my house, then my neighbours house, then another neighbour who all get told the same lies, and who all put up with the same troubles. The blue dots are the places where ADSL is available, from top to bottom are a private home where my friend lives, a way back from the road where the cable lies mind you, who has adsl. Under that is another private residence with broadband. the next one is a industrial shed and office, where another friend of mine was managing a contracting business and they set up temporary shop there, was told they could get broadband, but they were only there for 4 months so it wasn't worth it. The big yellow dot represents a whole host of industrial sites, grain storage, recycling, and much more of it is getting developed into an even bigger industrial area. A lot of it would be further from the exchange than I am, yet these giant companies wouldnt be operating there without fixed line broadband.  My last dealings was with Telstra Country wide, who I sent through these photos, explained everything we had been through, and what we wanted, which was answers to why we can't get it, because its NOT distance, as people just as far as us and some even further can get it, so saying that is a lie, and NOT interference, because the interference is how badly the line is degraded, if that is the reason, then it should be fixed right? And above all else, the main question we want answered is, what would be the cost to me personally, or a joint cost between me and the neighbours, of getting it, either by patching in to the good almost new line accross the road, or whatever else that may need doing? We want to know, I don't care if its well out of my price range, but we want to know what the cost would be, and how we could go about getting it done. Also we really desperately need a line technician out here to double and triple check that there is no pair gain system in place. We don't want someone just checking data on a computer, we need someone to see the mess that was made when these extra lines were put in at this property.  But what answers did we get? It is unavailable to you.  That is all we got. No questions answered, no people sent out. We may have well been talking to a sales rep. Its just the same thing over and over, almost politician speak. We are getting answers, but not to the questions we are asking. There are 4 houses here in desperate need of them. All of us are small business owners who are tired of resorting to paying the extortionate prices for wireless broadband, where even if it wasn't already so much more expensive than fixed line, the data cost can send a business broke, but the 4G reception is sketchy at best. 3G is not too bad, but anything involving sending high data traffic, is pathetic. I know we are only 4 residences, and the cost of repairing the line to usuable might outweigh what you reap back any time soon, but lets face it, the NBN isnt coming here any time soon. If ever. We are always overlooked with everything, even as a town. Narrabri is the major town, the centre of many smaller ones surrounding it, yet Telstra install 4GX coverage to Wee Waa and Boggabri around it and leave the major town out? So yes everything is very frustrating, and I want someone with a clear head and the knowledge and power to at least organise some line techs for a meeting with us, and a possible pair gain removal, and after that, outline us some costs, no matter how dramatically huge or surprisingly small they might be, to get this matter of our bad line fixed, replaced, or patched in to the good new cable across the road. I'm not giving up. We are taking this to our local state and federal MP's, one of the neighbours of mine on the map is a Councillor on the Local Shire, there will be a lot of heat on this issue.  Or maybe there is a new and different solution to the problem that we haven't thought of besides hoping for a tornado to lift all our houses and land them on the good side of the road.  So who do I talk to? who do i get in contact with to have my questions answered?

anything over 4KM and usually the loss is that high that an ADSL connection is not sustainable, it is possible that the people on the other side of the street are on a RIM/TOPHAT which is ADSL/2+ enabled, but it really does depend...
If the landline has had ongoing faults and issues the chances are that even if it could be provided that there would be huge speed issues because of the fault...
If you are having signal loss so great that it is affecting the landline service by itself then the chances are that the same interference would be so great as to make the loss of speed so high that Wholesale would not bother to allow it to occur in the knowledge that it will cause more problems then it would solve...
If you are 4.2KM from the exchange as the crow flies then it will be higher again in cable length... again making it quite possible that it is quite largely that you are too far from the exchange, especially when you mix in the distance and the loss of signal which your parents already experience on their phone service...
If the estimated speed is below their minimum speed they will just not provide it... because it is better to not provide it then to have people (not saying you but there are people who would) complain and complain that it is too slow... so they don't bother...
If you are on a RIM which is not ADSL enabled, it is likely it would need an upgrade before you could connect and the random and sporadic nature of the NBN roll out has made it somewhat unviable for any of the ISP to really invest into their own networks... so they haven't been doing any major upgrades...
But about the best you could do is to place an order, once that is declined you can raise it will complaints, however if it can't be done, it can't be done and they might not be able to do much to help.

  • I have a MacBook 5,1 (13.3" aluminum from 2007 or 2008). Automatic updates will only let me get to OSX 10.5.8.  Can I upgrade to Snow Leopard, Lion 10.6 or even 10.6.8?  Also, will I have any issues with my iPhone if it's updated to iOS 7.1?

The 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD is in the Apple online store. You can get it for $19.99. You will need to be running 10.6.8 to access the App Store to order Lion or Mountain Lion. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    System Requirements for 10.6:
Mac computer with an Intel processor
    1GB of memory
    5GB of available disk space
    DVD drive for installation
Some features require a compatible internet service provider: fees may apply.
You can upgrade direct from 10.6.8 to 10.8 Mountain Lion without going through 10.7 Lion with the Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody. The Model 5,1 will probably run 10.9 Mavricks when it comes out.
10.8 Mountain Lion is a download from the App Store, the price is $19.99.
Mountain Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly.
As for third party programs see this list for compatibility with 10.8 http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Also Mountain Lion doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Mountain Lion.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors in 2006 they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications.
