Whole machine crashing in PhotoMerge...

My machine has been thoroughly tested by Apple, Memory replaced twice. Motherboard, and processor replaced. Booted connected to known safe HD's and OS at Apple and tested. Problem still persists when trying to create the exact same panaroma. AND for the last two days I've been trying to edit an image, and the machine keeps dying on its arse when resizing objects.
Getting really fustrated! I am willing to install software or extra logging versions on my machine if it helps to identify the problem - whoever's fault it might be!
The issue seems to be linked to having 16gb of RAM. The problem doesn't occur with 8gb regardless of which SIMMS/slots I use for the 8gb.

Apple software tested the machine. Apple hardware tested the machine. They had it for 3 days. We replaced all the RAM twice - still crashes. We systiomatically swapped all the simms out - it still crashes. They replaced the motherboard. It still crashes. They swapped out the processort. It still crashes. Apple have practically rebuilt the machine. It still crashes!
Sometimes it goes straight off. Sometimes it kernel panics. It never gives a log.
The only thing that crashes it is using Photoshop. And with the set of panorama images I have, it always crashes in the same place.
We seem to have an empasse... Apple say there is nothing wrong with the machine, and that they have done everything they can bar give me a new machine. And I can't reliably use Photoshop.

  • Divide by zero crash whole machine?

    hello
    i have a little app that if i try to divide by zero, the whole machine crashes. its in a try/catch.. its part of a printing class for a tomcat application. but standalone tests showed that the same bit still causes the whole machine to crash.
    any ideas? doesnt java have a whole try/catch around its applications that even if i dont catch it, it does... and usually give you a trace about it? and on top of that, then wouldn't win2000 also catch a top level java error even if it made it that far?

    Its in a try/catch ...but what are you catching? Of course you can catch this error at runtime. Check out this example ...it catches the div by zero just fine. I don't understand why you can't control this in your program. Am I missing your point?
    public class DivTest {
      public DivTest() { doit(); }
      public double doit() { return 8/0; }
      public static void main(String args[]) {
        try {
          new DivTest();
        } catch (Exception e) {
          System.out.println(e.toString());
    }

  • Time Machine - WHOLE COMPUTER CRASHES!

    I upgraded to Leopard the day it came out and Time Machine worked like a charm. As soon as I installed 10.5.1 when the backup gets to the very end the entire machine crashes (kernel crash) and I am forced to restart my computer. If I leave Time Machine running it will crash every single time it reaches the end of the backing up process.
    Machine: Mac Mini Core-Duo 1.66
    Backup Drive: WD My Book 500GB via USB
    On another note, ever since I upgraded to 10.5.1 the firewire ports on my drive have been rendered useless. They won't work on any computer. My LaCie drive works fine via firewire so I know it can't be the computer's firewire port.
    Any help will bring much appreciation and thanks!

    I am not too sure as I am not an expert on OS, see whether you can do the following:-
    1. Change your source disk's name and make sure there is not space or /,- in between
    2. Change your target disk's name as item 1 with a different name of course
    3. disable to spotlight

  • Why does "enter time machine" crash my computer?

    The title is pretty descriptive. The "crash" is that I get the spinning beach ball of death and over the course of a few seconds my machine becomes completely non-responsive to input (keystokes stop working, then the wiggling the mouse stops working). I have do hold down the power button to reset the machine after that. Although I'm quite familiar with http://pondini.org/OSX/Home.html I don't see that anything readily addresses "Time Machine crashes my whole OS". Any ideas? Thanks!

    Here a log of what happens. I got this same effective log in two different situations: first when I ran an attempted backup, then again basically the same when I changed the computer name and tried again. That second attempt is probably pretty telling since there is no sparsebundle with the new computer name, meaning the error of "diskimagealreadyattached" cannot be true.

  • Time machine crashes macbook air 2011

    Hello,
    I'm using Macbook Air 2011 13 inches and running Lion 10.7.2
    I'm trying to use time machine on an external hard drive.
    But the time machine always crashes the whole computer while I leave the computer unattended for 2 or 3 hours. When I keep using it, it can perform hourly backup without any problem. Once i decide to leave my macbook unattended for over 2 hours, when coming back, the whole system crashes at the stage of backing up 0 KB of XX MB. I put the log below. I have changed the external driver so it is not the external hard disk that generates this problem.

    I desperately need your help. I was working on iMovie last night when the thing froze up on me. I've tried rebooting. I've tried reinstalling the apps. No change. I can play some of the files- although I can't tell which ones will play until they magically appear. I can't get into the project library or the event library. The bar that lets me scroll through the clips is gone. Even when I can get something to play the whole system crashes after a couple of minutes and generates a "problem report" that says "iMovie Quit Unexpectedly". This all started when I was adding cutaways- and one clip just would not load. After I tried several times everything froze up. Have you ever heard of something like this? Maybe I pushed a button or somehow changed a setting? Maybe some of the video is corrupt? What do you recommend?
    Thanks for any advice you can offer!

    I have tried all the above and nothing seems to work. Any other suggestions?

    old machine crashed. how to deregister adobe acrobat on old machine?

    You can't if you don't have physical access to it. Just install it on the new machine and if you have problems with activation call the number for your country and explain the situation to them. They should be able to help you out with it.

    I was running Lightroom 3.6 with the OS Windows XP (Sp3). The whole system crashed, I am unable to recover the serial number. I then upgraded my OS to Windows 7 (x64) and down loaded Lightroom 4.4, I wanted to buy a licence so I then upgraded to Lightroom 5, now when I try to register I am asked for the original licence/serial number. Where do I go from here??????

    If you upgraded from 3.6 to 5 (you didn't indicate buying 4.4) then you will need the serial number from 3.6 in order to be able to use 5.  If you did not keep a record of it there is a chance it might be available thru your Adobe account online, but if not, there is likely not much you can do except to return the upgrade and purchase a full version.  Try contacting support using chat and explain your situation to see if they can help.

    If you did purchase 4.4 then that should be sufficient to use to activate 5.
    I can never be sure what goes on with Lightroom, and the Adobe site (even when it works properly) makes finding information about products difficult these days so I am at a loss to confirm anything I say.

  • 9.1.1 Time&Pitch Machine crash

    Running L9.1.1 on an iMac Core Duo w/Snow Leopard 10.6.2. With or w/o plugins loaded, Time&Pitch Machine crashes out to desktop when entering numbers from either keypad or alphanumeric keys. Deleted all plists w/o change in crash behavior. Also no change after creating Empty Project w/single audio track, mono or stereo. Can't find any reports of this crash in other forums. Otherwise 9.1.1 is stable. Thanks for thoughts on this possible bug.

    hmm I was fortunate not to have this in 8 or 9.0.2
    but this is a definite/repeatable bug in 9.1.1 which causes crash
    sample edit window
    then select time and pitch or any Factory menu items
    on exiting window or pressing screen set 1 key command crash happens evey time 1 track of audio no plugins
    cannot work with 9.1.1 as a result
    and you didnt fix screen set/display text only jumping window bug anyway, even when you said you had on release notes!!

  • Time Machine Crash  along with death screen

    Ever since I did the 10.5.2 update Time Machine crashes, ejects my hard drive, and I keep getting the gray death screen to restart. I turned off Time Machine but my HD keeps getting ejected and still having the restart issue.
    I'm running a Mirror face G4 and have NEVER had a problem before, so this is very irritating.

    Hi there,
    Thanks for your posting - I followed the links in order to try and find out why my disk image may not be working properly.
    I backup my MacBook to an internal slave drive on my G4 using Time Machine. It was working fine for a month but has suddenly given me Kernel Panic so from these posts I assume that to mean a corrupt image. I tried running Disk Warrior on the image. It found a HUGE number of errors. Pretty much every file in the volume was repaired for "Extended Attribute". However, unfortunately Disk Warrior gave the following message:
    DiskWarrior has successfully built a new directory for the disk named "Backup of JowieBook." The new directory cannot replace the original directory due to a Mac OS services failure.
    Try rebuilding again. If this problem persists, please restart from the DiskWarrior CD and then try rebuilding again.
    Hmmm, that not good. I haven't tried restarting from the CD because I don't see much point - the image isn't on the boot drive, it's on a slave. I checked the volume read/write status as suggested and this is the result (abridged):
    image-path : /Volumes/Lemon Jelly/JowieBook_0016cbcc5f19.sparsebundle
    image-type : sparse bundle disk image
    writeable : TRUE
    autodiskmount : TRUE
    removable : TRUE
    image-encrypted : false
    So I'm pretty stumped. Shall I just run it again? Here's the chmod status of the volume:
    drwxr-xr-x 6 jowie jowie 510 Feb 20 22:30 Backup of JowieBook
    I'm not very good with Unix but that looks okay to me... So I'm a bit stumped. Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

  • Time machine crashes after Yosemite upgrade

    I recently upgraded to Yosemite 10.2.2. on a mid-2010 MacBook, but am having problems backing up using TimeMachine.
    I can access my past backups, which is good news, although I need to select one of the disks being backed up in the left column of the finder window (if I just select my username it doesn't seem to work). However, when I attempt a backup the computer crashes during the beginning of the backup process ("Processing backup").  I don't get any particular error message when Time Machine crashes, the computer just restarts and sometimes I will get an error message once the computer has finished restarting indicating that the computer restarted because of a problem.
    I back up onto a non-Apple (Seagate) connected to the WiFi network drive, which has been working well for about 6 months under the previous OS.
    Anyone have any thoughts on this? I've run the disk utility to repair disk permissions, removed the network disk as backup then re-added.

    And here is the Problem Details and System Configuration in case its helpful:
