Wht is the advantages of mdm

wht is the exact use for company if the implement mdm .

Hi Ganishetti,
Master data is data about your customers, products, suppliers etc.Quality of master data has an impact on transactional and
analytical data.
What MDM Does:
Aggregate master data across SAP and non-SAP systems into a centralized master data repository. Once data is consolidated, you can search for data across linked systems, identify identical or similar objects across systems, and
provide key mapping for reliable companywide analytics and reporting.
Consolidate and harmonize master data from heterogeneous systems. Ensure high quality master data by distributing harmonized data that is globally relevant using distribution
mechanisms. Allow subscribing applications to enrich master data with locally relevant information.
Support company quality standards by ensuring the central control of master data, including maintenance and storage.
Distribute centrally created master data to client systems as required using distribution mechanisms.
System consolidation from R/3, ERP and other sources
Direct ODBC system access, extract flat files, 3rd party application data, XML sources and many moreu2026
Single pass data transformation, auto-mapping, validation rules, and exception handling.
Business Users can define matching rules, complex matching strategies,and conduct data profiling
Data Enrichment Controller to use 3rd party sources.
and other partners for address completion, company validation and enriching data.
Search and compare records, identify sub-attributes for consolidation in sub-second response times
Merge records seamlessly, tracking source systems with built in key mappings
Leverage out of box data models for consolidating data
Consolidation has never been easier Extract, cleanse and consolidate master data
HARMONIZATION
Cleanse and distribute across entire landscape.
CENTRAL MDM
Create consistent master data from the start centrally.
Advantages Of MDM
End-to-end solution. The MDM system provide an end-to-end
solution that automates the entire process of managing master data from start to finish, including bulk data import, centralized master data management, and published output to a variety of media.
u2022 Database-driven system. MDM layers a thick shell of functionality on top of a powerful SQL-based DBMS so that the MDM system is fully scalable and the master data is fully accessible to other SQLbased applications and tools.
u2022 Large capacity. The MDM system efficiently manages master data repositories containing up to millions of records.
u2022 Superior performance. MDM breaks through SQL performance
bottlenecks to deliver blazingly fast performance that is measured in milliseconds rather than seconds and is literally 100u20131000 times that of a SQL DBMS alone. No other system on the market today delivers comparable performance.
u2022 Powerful search and retrieval. All of the MDM modules include
powerful search and retrieval capabilities, so that an entire repository of thousands or millions of items can be easily searched and any item or group of items located in a matter of seconds.

  • Wht r the advantages of using bdc rathan than lsmw?

    Hi , I want to knwo.. wht r the advangtages of using bdc rathan than lsmw.,,,

    Hi,
    LSMW and BDC are vastly different.
    BDC (Batch Data Communication) is a technology used for data transfer.
    it is meant for transferring data thru SAP transactions itself. when u use BDC for data transfer,
    the sequence of steps is the same as when u use standard sap transaction screens for data upload. the only difference is that u can use different options for foreground/background processing.
    LSMW on the other hand is a tool that helps migrate data from a legacy system (non-sap system ) to SAP system.
    it offers u various options to use either batch input, direct input, BAPIs or idocs.
    it involves a series of some 17-18 steps to migrate data.
    BDC:
    Batch Data Communication (BDC) is the process of transferring data from one SAP System to another SAP system
    or from a non-SAP system to SAP System.
    Features :
    BDC is an automatic procedure.
    This method is used to transfer large amount of data that is available in electronic medium.
    BDC can be used primarily when installing the SAP system and when transferring data from a legacy system (external system).
    BDC uses normal transaction codes to transfer data.
    Types of BDC :
    CLASSICAL BATCH INPUT (Session Method)
    CALL TRANSACTION
    BATCH INPUT METHOD:
    This method is also called as ‘CLASSICAL METHOD’.
    Features:
    Asynchronous processing.
    Synchronous Processing in database update.
    Transfer data for more than one transaction.
    Batch input processing log will be generated.
    During processing, no transaction is started until the previous transaction has been written to the database.
    CALL TRANSACTION METHOD :
    This is another method to transfer data from the legacy system.
    Call transaction.
    1) asynchronous processing
    2) can transfer small amount of data
    3) processing is faster.
    4) errors need to be handled explicitly
    5) data is updated automatically
    Session method.
    1) synchronous processing.
    2) can tranfer large amount of data.
    3) processing is slower.
    4) error log is created
    5) data is not updated until session is processed.
    Session method is to populate the data by filling BDC structure
    and keep as session to process from SM37 to post in appropriate Transaction.
    Call transaction method is to post the data directly into the Transaction from an Executable program.
    Features:
    Synchronous processing. The system performs a database commit immediately before and after the CALL TRANSACTION USING statement.
    Updating the database can be either synchronous or asynchronous. The program specifies the update type.
    Transfer data for a single transaction.
    Transfers data for a sequence of dialog screens.
    No batch input processing log is generated.

    LSMW:
    The LSM Workbench is an R/3-based tool that supports You when transferring data from non-SAP systems ("Legacy Systems") to R/3 once or periodically.
    The tool supports conversion of data of the legacy system in a convenient way. The data can then be imported into the R/3 system via batch input, direct input, BAPIs or IDocs.
    Furthermore, the LSM Workbench provides a recording function that allows to generate a "data migration object" in an entry or change transaction.
    The main advantages of the LSM Workbench:
    • Part of R/3 and thus independent of individual platforms
    • A variety of technical possibilities of data conversion:
    • Data consistency due to standard import techniques:
    Batch input
    Direct input
    BAPIs (Business Application Programming Interfaces)
    IDocs (Intermediate Documents)
    The import technique to be used in an individual case depends on the business object.
    • Generation of the conversion program on the basis of defined rules
    • Clear interactive process guide
    • Interface for data in spreadsheet format
    • Creation of data migration objects on the basis of recorded transactions
    • Charge-free for SAP customers and SAP partners

  • Advantages of MDM PI adapter oer FTP

    Hi all,
    Can u please tell me the advantages of MDM - PI adapter over the FTP apart from the discussions that are given in the PDFs .  Also Would like to know with using MDM adapter how can we route the files to respective folders which can be done using the FTP by just specifying the path in CC. How the same result can be acheived using MDM PI adapter.
    Regards,
    Vinithra
    Edited by: Vinithra Iyangar on Jun 15, 2009 5:46 AM

    Hi,
    If you have MDM at sender or receiver then MDM PI Adapter will be more useful as MDM PI Adapter enables direct communication between MDM and PI.As explained in above advantages there will be  a tighter MDM PI integration as well as message monitoring. As MDM is also a SAP's  Data Repository system(mainly used to remove duplication of data),with the help of MDM PI Adapter you can see the complete flow if the data got correctly updated in MDM or where it when wrong.If you use simple  FTP, u can see with respect to file adapter only , you need to check in MDM seperatley again for checking if it got correctly updated.

  • CCM or MDM - What are the advantage and disadvantage

    Hi
    We are planning to install a catalog but is now in doubt what catalog system we must use. We use SRM5.0 but will upgrade to SRM6.0 if we have to.
    Can someone tell me the advantage and disadvantage for CCM and MDM?
    I know that some patches will be released in MDM2.0 in December and March and this patches will give the following:
    - Approver UI in Portal 7.0 (via iViews)
    - Integration of Electronic Forms
    - Config of Column With
    - Config of Image size
    - Support of decimal quantities ?!?!?!
    - Configurable products
    - Browse categories via images
    - Customer exits in Search UI
    - Search attributes by range
    Do CCM for example support the above (except the UI stuff)??
    Usefull hints will be rewarded.

  • What is the advantage of using DataSourceUpdateMode.OnPropertyChanged for databinding winform c#

    first see my code
    public class Car : INotifyPropertyChanged
    private string _make;
    private string _model;
    private int _year;
    public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged;
    public Car(string make, string model, int year)
    _make = make;
    _model = model;
    _year = year;

    set
    _make = value;

    this.NotifyPropertyChanged("Model");
    public int Year

    this.NotifyPropertyChanged("Year");
    private void NotifyPropertyChanged(string name)

    public partial class Form1 : Form
    public Form1()
    InitializeComponent();
    BindingList<Car> ol;
    private void Form1_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
    Car carTest = new Car("Ford", "Mustang", 1967);
    ol = new BindingList<Car>();
    ol.Add(carTest);
    this.textBox1.DataBindings.Add("Text", ol, "Make", true, DataSourceUpdateMode.OnPropertyChanged);
    this.textBox2.DataBindings.Add("Text", ol, "Make", true, DataSourceUpdateMode.OnPropertyChanged);

    dataGridView1.DataSource = ol;
    private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)

    i use DataSourceUpdateMode.OnPropertyChanged for one textbox and did not use for other textbox
               this.textBox2.DataBindings.Add("Text", ol, "Make", true, DataSourceUpdateMode.OnPropertyChanged);
                this.textBox3.DataBindings.Add("Text", ol, "Make");
    when change value in one textbox the change is reflected in other textbox too without using
    DataSourceUpdateMode.OnPropertyChanged so just do not understand the advantage of
    DataSourceUpdateMode.OnPropertyChanged
    even when change data in data source by the below way then change is also reflected in all textboxes.
     ol.Where(d => d.Make == "Ford").First().Make = "My Ford000";
    please help me to understand right usage of DataSourceUpdateMode.OnPropertyChanged
    like when and where to use.
    thanks

    Hi Mou_kolkata,
    >> please help me to understand right usage of DataSourceUpdateMode.OnPropertyChanged like when and where to use.
    In my option, when the binding is first established, the specified property of the data source object is copied to the specified property of the host object. Thereafter, the specified properties of the objects can be updated either automatically or manually.
    DataSourceUpdateMode.OnPropertyChanged specifies the data source object is to be updated whenever the host object publishes a property changed event for the bound property. You could use the code below when you want the datasouce object to be updated automatically.
    this.textBox1.DataBindings.Add("Text", ol, "Make", true, DataSourceUpdateMode.OnPropertyChanged);
    You could refer the link below for more information:

    If I use the same iCloud account for my ipad and iPhone, will changes I make on one change on the other as well?  I'm not sure of the advantage of using teh same iCloud for both devices.

    No, it only mirrors changes to synced data.  This includes mail, contacts, calendars, reminders, safari bookmarks, notes, iWork documents and data, and photo stream photos (assuming you choose to sync all this data).  Changes to iTunes data such as music, apps, podcasts, etc., are not synced using iCloud.  In your example, if you delete an app from one device it will remain on the other until deleted there too.

  • What is the advantage of using IB to create XIBs/Class Objects over coding?

    Hi all,
    I hoping someone can provide me some pros and cons as to when I should use IB to create XIBs and/or class objects as opposed to directly coding them.
    For example, if I choose Apple's Template for creating a Navigation Based Application (cocoa touch), the project creates two NIB files - MainMenu and RootViewController.
    However looking at one of demo apps SimpleDrillDown, it does not have a RootViewController XIB and instead creates it via code.
    Another example from the same two apps is that the template generates a "Navigation Controller" class object in the Mainmenu.xib. SimpleDrillDown does not bother with this in the XIB, but uses code to generate the controller:
    - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application {
    // Create the navigation and view controllers
    RootViewController *rootViewController = [[RootViewController alloc] init];
    UINavigationController *aNavigationController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:rootViewController];
    self.navigationController = aNavigationController;
    [aNavigationController release];
    [rootViewController release];
    // Configure and show the window
    [window addSubview:[navigationController view]];
    [window makeKeyAndVisible];
    as opposed to the template which only needs this:
    - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application {
    // Configure and show the window
    // Navigation Controller is defined in MainWindow.xib
    [window addSubview:[navigationController view]];
    [window makeKeyAndVisible];
    So what are the advantages of each approach. Why does apple suggest one approach and yet all its demos use another.
    Any thoughts, answers gratefully received.
    TIA, Michael.

    You can do whatever you're comfortable with, but most of the best Cocoa programmers--the ones on the Mac, I mean--recommend putting everything you can into Interface Builder.
    It's a little like the difference between writing a program to do a bunch of financial calculations and using a spreadsheet. Yeah, the program can do everything the spreadsheet can--and more besides--but you'll find it far easier to create, use and modify the spreadsheet.
    Interface Builder takes away a lot of completely meaningless choices ("What order should I create the objects in? How should I name the variables? How should I create their frames? What order should I set the attributes in?"), leaving you with an interface optimized for creating and arranging objects, and allowing your code to focus on what you really do need to think about--your application's logic.
    (By the way--part of the reason Apple's demos don't all use Interface Builder is that the very first SDK releases didn't have it. Back then, you had to create all your views programatically. Believe me, I have no wish to go back to setting autoresize masks manually. Now get off my lawn, whippersnapper.)

  • What is the Advantage of creation of user group through SUGR?

    Hello Masters,
    As per audit requirement I have maintained user groups for different sets of users through SUGR, but I am not getting except differenciating users (based on group), is there any other advantage? Can we assign role to a user group instead of assigning to list of users  or can we do any mass changes to an user group by giving only user group name.
    Regards,
    Nilutpal.

    Dear Neels,
    Apart from maintaining user group for Differnciation purpose you can also take the advantage on the following sectors:
    1. Follow the http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/ce/17533e5ff4d064e10000000a114084/content.htm link . From this you will come to know the use of user group in the authorisation area.
    2. User Groups also allow segregation of user maintenance, this is especially useful in a large organisation as you can control who your user admin team can maintain - an example would be giving a team leader the authority to change passwords for users in their team.
    3. The authorization user group is used in conjunction with S_USER_GROUP authorization object. It allows to create security management authorization by user group. e.g. you can have a local security administrator only able to manage users in his groups, Help-Desk to reset password for all users except users in group SUPER, etc...
    In case any issue, please feel free to reply.
    Regards,
    Nilutpal.

  • What are the advantages of compressor and it it even necessary

    what are the advantages of compressor and it it even necessary?

    Necessary for some and not for others – probably a large majority – who can by with the presets avalaible in FCX.
    The users who need Compressor are those who want to control the parameters of the encodes to get the best possible trade-off between file size and quality. Or those who want to do things like standards conversions, complex frame speed changes, better re-scaling capabilities, de-interlacing, re-interlacing, output formats beyond which are available in FCX, chapter markers for DVD and Blu-Ray authoring, batch conversions for multiple purposes through droplets, access to clusters for faster rendering.

    What are the advantage of using a passive monitoring technique

    Hi Plawansai,
    I saw your question that is still unanswered.
    I believe an advantage of using a passive monitoring technique is that it won't interfer with live traffic, as it does not inject traffic into the network or modify the traffic that is already on the network.
    One drawback anyway, is that post-processing time can take a large amount of time with passive monitoring!
    A combination of the two monitoring methods seems to be the route to go.

    The slower the speed, the fewer burn errors (or, in other words, you'll burn fewer "coasters"). I've always tried to burn at a slower speed, i.e. 2x - 4x. I'd rather wait a few minutes more and I've never had any burn errors.
