Why a Bex stored in Excel

Hi,
Why do we store a query in a local Excel sheet?
a) is it for sending a mail
b) is it for calculation locallly when the BEx is down?
c) is it easy for calculations?
Please let me know which is correct?

Excel is designed to optimise BEx Queries used in a predefined workbook that reads and writes data through BExGetData and BExSetData

Hi Rajan,
If you open the query using BEX analyser the query will open in excel. By clicking any cell in the displayed report you can open the query designer from "business explorer" menu tools edit query the "query designer" will open.

For names to appear on the screen of the phone when calls are received, the carrier has to support caller ID, and the caller ID information has to match what is saved in the contact exactly. If this is not working, you will not see the name.
Not sure what you are asking regarding SIM icon.

BI-IP - Bex Analyser - select excel single row and aplly planning function

Hi experts,
In BI-IP (BW 7) with Bex Analyser, is it possible to select a single excel row (or a range of rows) and then apply a planning function? I know that in WAD it's possible with the binding option to select a single web item.
The purpose is to apply a revaluation factor to selected (by the user) cost elements rows in the workbook.

It is possibel in WAD to select one or many rows while executing Functions such as--Reposting; Revaluation etc.
However, you should be in a position to select the rows based on....unique identifier such as Require ID; Request #; Serial #; ....this is more so in case of multiple entries for the same cost element for different combinations.

Dashboard in BEx 7.0 Excel Analyzer

I have to develop a dashboard with 7 queries embedded in a single worksheet. All queries have output in the form of tables (grid analysis). I know, how to do that. But, is following a possibility :
1. Keeping size of each table fixed, so I can have whole dashboard in a single view (size of my PC screen) and I do not need to scroll up-down/left right.
2. When I change drill down in any query (any table in dashboard) and number of rows changes.That will change size of table in normal scenerio. But is it possible to insert scroll bars in each tables, so size of tables remain constant, even no. of rows and columns changes.
Could anyone help me on this. I can not use WAD, we dont have BEx Web.
MS Excel version is 2003.

Hi.
1. Put Analyzer in design mode, then double click on any object to open up the property screen. Disable the AutoFit on the "general" tab will stop the Analyzer from dynamically resizing the cells.
2. The feature you're looking for is also in the property screen under the tab called "clipping".

Opening Bex analyser on Excel takes long time on some client

Hi,
We have installed BEx analyser on several PC client, on my PC BEx is opening in 2 or 3 seconds, on others it can takes 30 or 40 seconds.
We have checked the configuration and the problem is the same on two PC having same parameters.
Has anyone seen this problem and solved it ???

The OS installed for everyone is XP SP2 and we are using sap logon 710 Final Release, 7100.1.3.1029 version.
Every user works on a pc with 512 Mo RAM and 2,8 Ghertz.
We try to maintain the same configuration for everyone that why I don't understand this difference when opening Bex Analyser .

BEx Map in Excel: Print only result area

Hi experts,
I am in BEx Map - Excel, and I am trying to print the result area ONLY, without key figures, legend and so on...
Print Preview in Excel shows the key figures on the left, the legends on the right and a little version of the map (as if way too zoomed out) in the middle.
I know there is a post dedicated to the "print only result area" but its solution is "web only"

Arun,
Attaching a map in BEx-Excel is different from attaching a chart. When attaching a map, you can't choose in which sheet/workbook the map will be displayed. A new sheet is automatically added to the workbook holding the BEx query, period.

Embedding Macros in the BEx web exported excel sheet

Hi all Advanced reporting gurus,
I have to embed a macro in the excel sheet, when the user clicks the button Export to excel sheet in the BEx web. This needs to be generic, it means every BEx web user should be able to avail this macro. Can any one suggest me the methods to do so ?? Its really urgent and ur quick response is awaited....

so I guess, if Office XML standards are used in BW then this tag also shld work. I read few topics on SAP ABAP class files such as ZCL_RSR_XLS_HELP_WINDOW_PRINT and it has one the method to trigger rendering of data. Can I use this class and method to send the tag values so that macro is also embedded while sending data ????

Do I have to do anything special to do this?

BEx Not Reusing Excel Sessions

Since installing SAP_BW Support Package 19, I have a problem when trying to run more than one workbooks in BEx Analyzer. The first workbook opens OK, but subsequent workbooks give the following messages:

On the front-end, I have Support Package 8.
I can open multiple BEx workbooks through the BEx add-in menu. It is only when I open them from SAP GUI that I get the error.
I looked at note 1152929, but that was for up to Support Package 17.

Yes, we are using 7.x Frontend Patch 800.
I had been working with workbooks and queries that had been migrated to BI 7.
I do have some 3.x ones that I work with occassionally. I just tried a 3.x as the second workbook and got a slight different set of messages:

Poor performance of BEx Analyzer in excel 2007

Hi all,
after upgrading my office to version 2007, BEx Analyzer runs very slowly. The query is executed fast at the server but the excel visualisation of data in the workbook takes a lot of time. There is no problem on other computers with office 2003.
I have gone through all the notes but couldn't find anu solution.
Do I have to disable something in excel?
The performance doesn't have anything to do with my system spec (IBM T61 with 3 gig of RAM).

We are getting similar issues excel 2007 takes ages to visualise the results of the bw query compared to excel 2003.
It is particularly an issue on very large excel files 10MB+.
I dont think many business have gone for this combination so far, the response I have from SAP is that it is a microsoft issue.
No resolution so far other than to put users back to office 2003.

BW BEx and MS Excel 2007 runtime errors

Seeking help for the following situation...
Runtime errors using BW BEx versions 3.1 and 3.5 with MS Excel 2007 (virtual installation):
1. BEx OLAP functions for active cell (properties) generates a type mismatch error (run-time error '13') and disconnects query from BW server.
2. Queries cannot be changed due to an out of memory error (run-time error '7') and subsequent endless loop.
Current SAP GUI for windows:

Why recompiling a stored procedure would change returned data?

We have a web ASP.net application and Oracle database. Everything was working fine for at least last 5 years and now we can't figure out why
our stored procedures no longer work.
Here is what huppening
On our Oracle database if we do SELECT * FROM web_usertable we see every user who can ‘access’ the our system via website.
user1 is me
583 user1 null John q us 0 02 605
670 user2 null Ed Black us 0 02 693
Information about me and user2 is in the Oracle.
The only difference is that I have been in the database for years and user2 is for about one month.
When I go to the website and ‘enter’ ... Website is calling USP_GETUSERPROFILE that returns all my data. Everything works fine
When user2 performs exactly the same task no data from Oracle is being returned. (Why NOT??? Data is in the Oracle Table)
Order of things doesn’t make any difference: I can go 1st and everything would work ... then user2 and his data isn’t working OR he can go 1st and nothing being returned and I go 2nd and everything will work for me.
Here is what we found and it is only one of many ways we can reproduce this problem:
I go 1st and everything would work (We know that code and Stored Procedure is working) user2 goes 2nd and no data is returned (Something is wrong)(Why NOT??? Data is in the Oracle Table)
Without closing any windows or restarting any application or IIS or any other actions … if at this point we simply drop and recreate USP_GETUSERPROFILE all user2 data immediately comes back.
This issue is not only occurring with user2 data. It appears that any recently added user has this problem.
It also isn’t limited to the USP_GETUSERPROFILE procedure we found other instances when recompiling a Stored Procedure solved a problem.
We don't even know where to look. We also suspect that it might have someting to do with .NET because some other stored procedures in our applications being executed by C++ code don't have this problem.

Storing Word, Excel, Image files in Oracle 8i database

How do I insert MS Word, MS Excel, and image files in Oracle 8i db. Do I need to use Developer Forms for using this functionality. If I am trying to insert data in Oracle through Java Servlets, what SQL should I use for inserting BLOB/LOB in Oracle database.
