Why Admin Acct. Sharing Applications
I have an iMac i7 in which I set up two account:
1) An administrator account which is mine
2) An standard account for my wife.
But I've noticed that every app I download is shared between both accounts (vice versa). Why is that? For example if I or her download an application like AIM or an app from the mac app store, it's shows up in both our accounts...even though me/her never downloaded it in our account. Please help because it defeats the purpose of having our own account.

If you put them in the top-level /Applications folder, they're accessible to all users. That's where all Apple apps are (and should be left).
If you put them in an Applications folder inside a user home folder, then only that user will see them.
That's often a problem, though, as many apps expect (or insist) on being in the top-level Applications folder, and either won't work or won't be updated if they're elsewhere.
Please help because it defeats the purpose of having our own account.
No, it doesn't. You can both use the same application, but you'll each have your own settings, preferences, and data associated with the app, since that's all stored in each user's home folder.
For example, that's how you each use Safari or Firefox but with spearate bookmarks, browser history, etc.

Why can I not see shared applications on iTunes on a Mac but can on Itunes under Windows
Hello
1. I have a Mac Laptop, a Windows 7 laptop and an IPAD Air. I have an application on the IPad that shares files.
2. On both the Windows and Mac machines, I have the latest versions of ITunes installed.
3. With Image and IPhoto, I can browse the Documents directory of the shared application on the IPAD.
4. On the Windows Machine, on ITunes, under the Apps section, at the bottom of the screen, I can see the shared application and the shared Documents directory.
5. On my Mac Machine, on Itunes, under the Apps section, at the bottom of the screen, I can NOT see the same shared application on the IPAD that I see on the Windows machine.
6. In the upper right corner of Itunes on the MAC it does show "1 App" but I see no way to click on the app under ITunes and to browse the shared directory on the IPad
Any thoughts on what I have to do to make the Shared App show up on the Mac that shows up on the Windows machine in ITunes?Did you put your audiobooks on your computer?
They will only be where you put them. You need to copy them from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer. -
Shared Application Tier File System in Oracle Applications R12
Hi
Recently I came to an environment, here we are having 3 nodes with Shared Application Tier File System - One is Admin & DB and the other two are Applications Nodes(Apache and Forms) with load balancing. Its a Shared Application Tier File system so APPS_TOP is NFS mounted on two Applications Nodes. But i see ADMIN Node INST_TOP is also mounted on these two Applications Nodes...Could you please let me know what for this is????? or for what reasons we can keep like this?????my question is Admin node and two Application Nodes are having INST_TOPS locally on those nodes it self,the best practice is to have $INST_TOP directory located on a each server local mount directory.
Re: Shared Application File System on Linux
other than that Why ADMIN Node INST_TOP is mounted on these two Application Nodes.you have to check with your admins who implemented initially.but best practice is to have $INST_TOP directory located on a server local mount point. -
Why server side shared object doesn't work for me ?
application.onPublish = function (client, p_stream)
var myInfo = SharedObject.get(p_stream.name);
myInfo.setProperty("live", true);
I set the sharedobject using code above,now I can publish video,but so is not set(from admin console, "shared object" tab).
What can be possible reason for this?Change your code to below and see if it works (i mean i am not saying it will work - i am telling you to just try out - if it does not work - i'll look more into details)
var myInfo;
application.onPublish = function (client, p_stream)
myInfo = SharedObject.get(p_stream.name);
myInfo.setProperty("live", true); -
Why admin user cannot create Business Rules ?
Hi All,
Why admin user can't create Business Rules. We've to create other userID and give the required roles and then we create Busines rules right ? Pls. adviceHistorically, Business rules has an internal "native" admin user. When Hyperion is externalized, this internal id can conflict with the Shared Services admin user. Effectively the two admin ids start to conflict and cause issues. There are methods to resolve this issue, but I suggest as a rule not using the admin id for business rules, therefore bypassing the problem.

Copying files from admin acct to new user acct
hello, i read in the new macworld that i should try to avoid using the admin acct as a daily user. so i'm taking there advice. the problem i have is when i create another user, its settings are reverted back to when you first installed os x. i don't want this. i tried copying my users folder from my admin acct but whn i switch over to my new user acct the settings are still set to default.
at first i put them in the shared folder with my admin acct and when i switched over to the new user that folder didn't give me access. what am i doing wrong?
thxThere is a far easier way to do this without having to move files between user accounts:
1) Go to System Preferences -> Accounts and make a new admin account
2) Go to System Preferences -> Accounts -> your original account, and un-check "Allow user to administer this computer"
All done! -
OraInventories in r12 shared application tier
Hi,
I have some doubts regarding oraInventories in r12.0.4 shared application tier
1)$ORACLE_home/inventory-->is local inventory located in evey oracle home RIGHT.
2)/r12/GOLD/inst/apps/GOLD_fbiprddb/admin/oraInventory-->it is global inventory which lists 10.1.2 and 10.1.3 homes onlyHi,
1)$ORACLE_home/inventory-->is local inventory located in evey oracle home RIGHT?Already answered this above.
2)/r12/GOLD/inst/apps/GOLD_fbiprddb/admin/oraInventory-->it is global inventory which lists 10.1.2 and 10.1.3 homes only and is located on primary application node only.so when i apply patches to these homes using opatch and oui i should apply on primary application node RIGHT?Correct (except for the global inventory which is explained in my previous reply).
3)there is another global inventory on database tier which is primary application node also path-->/r12/GOLD/db/tech_st/10.2.0/admin/oui/GOLD_fbiprddb/oraInventory which lists only RDBMS_ORACLE_HOME.So when apllying patch to RDBMS i should show this path of oraInventory RIGHT?I believe there is only one global oraInventory directory, which can be found in oraInst.loc file. For other directories, those are local inventories.

How to delete current owner/admin account and create a new owner/admin acct
I am the owner and only user of my G5. I've owned it since 2007 when it was new.
I need to delete my current account and establish a new owner/admin account. When completed the new owner/admin account should be the only account on the machine.
Can anyone offer some help.
ThanksHere's the deal..
I own a software titled "Kinemac". It's a 3D animation software which creates QT movies to import into Final Cut Pro. I've had the software since last April and about a month ago, all of a sudden, the program would no longer open. I contacted Kinemac's Support. They said my computer had apparently been "banned" by the software. (Maybe it saw the computer as trying to pirate the program.?????)
I tried downloading a new copy of the software, reinstalled, entered serial#, etc. and still would not open. There was no crash. It just would not open.
Kinemac said its only way to correct the problem was to enter into a screen share with iChat. I tried for 20 minutes with them to establish screen share with no luck. We could "chat" but not screen share. So, I came to the Apple Discussions pages on iChat and spent about an hour with a Discussions' User on iChat with NO luck there either. I gave up on iChat. Not certain I wanted someone unknown on a screen share anyway.
Which brings us to this point. Kinemac says I can also add a new Admin Acct. Delete the current Admin and then rename the new user with the old user's name. I frankly don't want to mess around doing that but apparently there's alternative for Kinemac. So that's why I'm seeking info on how to do it. I really like the software and want to rectify the situation.
Hope this explains the situation. Thanks. -
I already subscribed for Rights Management, why can't I sign in using Microsoft Right Management Sharing Application.
Ayman SalehHi Ayman,
I see you have asked a similar question as me. My post is below:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/de1ff57b-34a0-4970-b9e4-cd9854fc0772/rms-sharing-app-configuration-fails?forum=rmscloud
I have included details of the
aadrmprep_silent.log as mentioned by Eddie for my issue.
Would be good to see if you have the same issue as me.
Eddie - I have Windows 7 SP1 already. Do you have any other suggestions for why this
error might occur?
Thanks. -

I installed Firefox on laptop under Admin acct--now I can't access it from std user account
I installed Firefox on a laptop under Admin acct--now I can't access it from std user account. If I installed Firefox onto the laptop under the Admin account, why didn't it put a desktop icon on the std user account also? I don't recall ever having this problem on an any other computer I've had. I have already tried looking under the program files folders for a Mozilla folder while logged into the std user account-- there is no Mozilla folder to be found. Also, when I try to install Firefox on the Std user account, the parental controls keeps me from doing it. I have went in and added the Firefox install web link as an allowable website under the parental controls, but it does not help. Please help me figure out how to get Firefox installed on my std user account.

Shared and non-shared application file system in R12
Hi,
We have a oracle apps 11.5.10.2 on mutli node architecture with node 1 hosting DB,CCM and admin while node 2 hosting Form and web servers on Windows 2003.
Some of our Products are in Shared status(Installation) like AD,AU etc and I found that R12 currently does not support the shared file system infrastructure on application tier server nodes running on Windows platforms
Metalink note:384248.1
what will be the impact of this if we plan for R12 upgrade?
Thanks!
ShekharHi Shekar,
<p>
I'm slightly confused by your question. Shared application tier file system isn't supported on Windows platforms in 11i, either. From Note 233428.1: <br>
<blockquote>
The shared file system infrastructure is not supported <b>on application tier server nodes running Windows platforms</b> or using Oracle9iAS releases earlier than 1.0.2.2.2. Application tier nodes must be running on the same operating system to implement a shared file system.
</blockquote>
<p>
Are you perhaps referring to the licensing status of your Applications products (i.e. either Installed, Shared, or Not Installed) from the Installed Products report in OAM? If yes, then this should have no impact on your upgrade to R12...those statuses should remain the same when you upgrade. "Shared" in this case relates only to the licensing status of the product, implying that the product is not explicitly licensed (i.e. Installed status), but its functionality is required for used with other Installed products.
<p>
Regards,<br>

View Objects in the shared application module is not refreshing
Hi ,
I have view objects defined shared apps module. This view objects are used for creating lovs which won't change very frequently. I have set the AutoRefresh=true for this view objects. I do have a UI to update the underline table for these lovs. The view objects defined in the shared application module is not getting reflected even I add a new value in the database. Is there any way to refresh these lovs as soon as its added to db?
Thanks
SuneeshI will explain my scenario ;
I have a view object(ViewA) where I have defined many LOVs for different attributes. Thes LOVs are using the shared application module's view object (shared_view1,shared_view2...etc) as List DataSource. Where exactly I need to set the auto refresh property=true. Currently I have set all of my shared apps view objects's(shared_view1,shared_view2...etc) autorefresh property=true.Do I need to use the autorefresh =true in the ViewA ?
What is the concept of autorefresh=true ? Wiill it refresh automatically the view object nexttime i am accessing the page after the db inserts ? Is there any time delay there ? if there is it something configurable ?
Thanks

Since all administrator account was disabled in your system, there is no way to run a program that need admin rights.
