Why 'Allow Negative Stock' doesnt go with put away strategy L

Just a quick question
Why Putaway Strategy L doesnt go with 'Allow Negative Stock'

Hi,
If you enter the putaway strategy L- system will finds the next empty bin where there is no quantiy or no quant.
If you assign "allow negative stock indicator", if stock is not there (ex for goods issue / delivery) system will generate a negative stock with a negative quant.
But while placing the new stock system will them neglect the bins with negative quantity (considering as quants), it will place it in the next empty bin.
It contradicts the logicof negative stock check, so standard will not allow negative stock indicator for putway strategy L.
thanks,
JK

  • Allow negative stocks only if i have open purchase order

    Good Morning Gurus
How to to the customization for the scenario like
open purchase must for allowing negative stocks in my plant.
with out open po negative stocks should not allow.
can we config for this ????????????
    Thanks & Regards,
    Naresh

    Hi,
Why business go for negative posting, when purchase orders are open and if purchase orders are open, business can go for goods receipt as and when goods are delivered!
For special purpose, business go for negative stock posting with settings  in OBY6 t.code  for selection of check box  'negative stock permitted' in processing parameters for your company code and with setting in OMJ1 t.code for selection of check box  'negative stock' for your valuation area(plant).

  • Allow negative stock on storage location

    Dear all,
When we allow negative stock on a storage location. At posting time we have an error "deficit stock of batch assignment". Anybody got a clue of what has to be done to correct this ???
    Cheers,
    Olivier

    Dear Oliver,
    Please do the following checks.
    Prerequisites
To work with negative stocks, you have to:
    · explicitly allow this in the Customizing system for each valuation area and storage location
    · set the indicator Neg. stocks in plant in the material master record of the individual materials (storage data)
Negative stocks are allowed for special stocks if you have activated negative stocks in the valuation area and for the special stock concerned in the plant. You do not need to activate negative stocks in each material master record.
    Procedure
You can define whether you want to allow negative stock by making the relevant settings for each storage type in Customizing.
To do this, choose Logistics Execution -- Warehouse Management--- Interfaces -- Inventory Management -
Allow Negative Stocks in Interim Storage Types --- Allow negative stock for each storage type in the Implementation Guide (IMG).
When the allow negative stock indicator is set, the system lets you post negative quants to the corresponding storage type.
Additionally, you can define whether you want the system to issue an error message (E) or a warning message (W) or no message (blank) when posting negative stock. You can make the relevant setting in the activity Control of System Messages in Warehouse Management. You can determine the notification type using the parameter MSV in the user master record.
To do this, choose System --- User profile --- Own data.
Then select the tab page Parameters.
Enter MSV in the Parameters field and enter the value with which you want to group certain users in the value field (for example 01).
Choose Logistics Execution ® Warehouse Management ® Interfaces ® Inventory Management ® Allow Negative Stocks in Interim Storage Types ® Control of System Messages in Warehouse Management in the Implementation Guide (IMG).
Create a new entry with the version number (Value) you have chosen and enter the desired system reaction in the Message Category field (E, W, or blank).

  • Implications that we could have if we allow Negative Stock in SAP

    Hi Gurus.
Can I have in details the Implications that we could have if we allow Negative Stock in SAP please ?
    Thanks
    Nainar

    Hi Nainar,
Implications in the sense, if you try to issue more stock than the existing. System pop up an error message that insufficient stock.
If you activate the Negitive stock then the system allows you to issue the stock.
Ex : Suppose ur company has power cut and u use generator at the time of power cuts. Now that u use diesel for generator, if suppose u have stock physically avaliable in ur plant and u didnt enter the GR(not avaliable in system). At this point u have to issue the diesel to run generator, hence system will show you negitive stock(-ve quantity) the amount u have issued. Later when u enter GR, it will tally issed quantity.
To activate Negitive stock at plant level, follow the path
SPRO>MM>Inventory Management and Physical Inventory>GI/Transfer Postings->Allow negative stock.

  • Put Away Strategy

    Hi,
    Here is my scenario:
I am using put away strategy to propose destination details. While proposing bins I need to check if there is a material already available in that bin and a Condition (date placed +1 day) otherwise another bin need to be proposed.
Could you please suggest me a user exit/badi available for this scenario? If so could you please also provide additional details how to implement?
    BR/Sanjeeva

    Hi,
Youhave use the enhancement MWMTO003 for this.
    There are 4 exits available : EXIT_SAPLL03A_001  to EXIT_SAPLL03A_004

  • Chainging Warehouse Put Away Strategy

    Hi all,
Our business is considering a change in putaway strategy because we feel our current set up doesnt suit the needs of 1 or more plants.
Whilst we have identified the more suitable setting (A change from 'P' to 'I'), can anyone advise if this can be done within an opertaional warehouse whithout any major issues?  Additionally, can setting 'I' accomodate different batches? (i.e. add stock to an existing bin ONLY if the batch number is the same)
(I appreciate everyone may have SAP setup slightly differently, but generally speaking is this possible)
Currently SAP allocates a new location each time a part is goods recipted without considering any empty capacity within an existing bin.  This is resulting in man locations per part and increased picking times.  In addition, we currently manually consolidate these bins when the staff have time, and this potentially results in human error if people miscount/mistype when moving the stock.
    Thanks,
    Stephen

    Hi Jürgen,
We have a warehouse which operates with with standard rows of bins which are handled manually.  The bins contain small/medium sized items which for the most part are not life-limited.  In addition, they will all typically have the same batch with only the small exception - and for these exceptions we're happy to have SAP allocate to a new location to keep the batches separate.  We do have pallet racking, but this is only for one row - 95% of the warehouse utilizes manual bins.
We define capacity using the appropriate fields in the Material Master where we stipulate the bin type and max qty per bin type (Warehouse Management 2).
Our Head Office warehouse uses automated picking machines and all products are handled in pallets - I believe this is why our additional UK plant has been automatically allocated the same P strategy - however, we have different requirements, and it would seem that ' I '  would suit us better. Our requirements are only simple and straight forward.
    Thanks,
    Stephen

  • Material Placememt - Put away strategy

    Hi ,
    We have a requirement like
    Suppose we have bins like A , B , C , D , E etc with capacity of 100 boxes.All are empty initially.
Now at the time of first placement (say 60 boxes) we want system to select and place material BIN A.We want system to select the same bin till it gets filled completely (i.e 100 Boxes).Thereafter subsequent placement (say of 40 Boxes) are placed into next Bin i.e B.
Now when we picked some boxes (say 80 Boxes) from BIN A.
And make another placement (say of 10 Boxes) then system should continue to place material in STORAGE BIN B ( not in Bin A), as we want placement should continue to be in SINGLE BIN till the time it gets fully filled and then should select the next Bin.
    How can we do this.
    regards
    Shrey

    Hi ,
I believe NEXT EMPTY BIN will not work for me .With said satretegy at the time of every placement system will look for the next empty bin.
While I want system to cont place material in same bin till the time it gets fully occupied even if the previous bin is empty now.
I simple words, I want system to fill 1 bin at a time time and once it is fully filled only then system should search for next bin
    Any idea

I have bins (all of them in same st section) in 425 st type for all bin types now if i try to putaway a material (having X3 in material master) where would the system look to propose a bin ? I am seeing that system is picking bins with bin type A1 and i was expecting it to pick A9 as per st bin type search (there is no bin with A0)

    Hi
    Pls check the following:-
    1. Pls deactivate the capacity check if you have activated.
    2. at most, one partila pallet qnty in addition to the full storage units.
    3. dont activate Mixed storage.
    4. It is not absolutely necessary to activate the storage unit type check, the check is executed automatically via the definition of the bulk storage area.
    5. Check for palletization data for LE qnty & controll qnty in MMR wm views

  • Negative stock allowed for a material with SDG assigned

    Hi All ,
I have raw material for which stock determination group assigned in MRP 2 view for issuing the componets .
I also marked allow negative stock in plant/storage location view .
Normally if the stock determination group is not assigned and if the negative stock allowed in plant/storagelocation is checked then during backflush though the required qunatity is not availabe then the stock will be marked in negative quantities , so that when GR happens for this material will overcome the negative quantity .
But since stock determination group is assigned , though the  negative stock allowed is checked the backlogs are created in MF47 rather making the stock of the material negative [ I assume this behaviour is because the SDG is determined dynamically ]
Is there any setting required to not sit these backlogs in MF47 when the negative stock allowed in plant/storagelocation is checked
    Thanks
    Sireesha

    Hello Sireesha,
Even I have similar issue, can you please let me know if this is fixed for and how did it work.
    Thanks

  • Why negative stock is possible for Moving avg price & not standard price?

why negative stock is possible for Moving avg price & not standard price?

    Hi,
Negative stock is available for both MAP as well as Std. price.
    Eg.
    MAP-->
    1. Mtl with MAP 1 Rs/pc & stock of 10qty.
    2. GI done for 15 pcs. Each pcs evaluated with 1Rs (MAP). Stock value reduce by 15Rs. Offsetting entry takes place in consumption account of 15Rs. The stock and stock value is -5 each.
    3. Post GR of 10pcs with PO price 3Rs/pc.
Now GR/IR should credited with 30Rs.
Negative stock (which issued) with 1Rs. But incoming mtl. is of 3Rs/pc. So difference of 2Rs for Qty 5 (Neg. stk) of 10Rs. will posted to Price Difference account. And remaining 20Rs posted to stock account.
Std. price.--> step 1,2 remain same
    3. Post GR of 10pcs with PO price 3Rs/pc.
Now GR/IR should credited with 30Rs.
Durin GR Stock account posting will be 10Rs but due to negative stk value the net stock value will be 5 Rs. Remaining 20Rs posted to price difference acct.

  • Why negative stock inventory still can post A/R invoice

    Hi,
I don't want to post A/R invoice, when negative stock inventory of the item.

Already set the below settings in the SAP:
    1)  item master data - inventory data - tick Manage inventory by warehouse
    2)  System initialization - Document setting - general - tick block negative inventory by Item stetting
Still I can post the A/R invoice, when no stock ( It's allow negative stock inventory)
    Using : SAP B1 ver 9.0 PL 10.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Siva.

    Hi
So Sivakumar, did you post that AR Invoice?
    Also check this
In order to block negative inventory for each warehouse, the following settings should be made:
    1. Go to Administration -> System Initialization -> Document Settings -> General Tab, make sure 'Block Negative Inventory' is checked.
    2. Go to Item Master Data -> Inventory tab, make sure 'Manage Inventory by Warehouse' is checked.
how can we block negative inventory ?

  • Negative Stock in MB5B

    Hii,
When i execute the mb5b for stock on posting date system is showing the negative stock.
    For Eg:
Stock of one material is showing me as -50 No's as on Posting date 10.02.2008
    In MB51
    GR 101 for 100 No's on 29.02.2008 with Entry date: 29.02.2008
GI 201 for 50 No's on 10.02.2008 ( it is showing me as -50 No's but stock was not there at material level on 10.02.2008) with Entry date 01.03.2008
User has changed the posting date as 10.02.2008, which the entry date is 01.03.2008.
So, System is not considering the stock when it was received. In case of non batch managed materials why system is behaving like this ??
Is there any standard feature to control it ??
    Please suggest!
    Kumar

    Hi,
Whatever example u have given is nothing but a negative stock.
In SPRO-> Financial accounting> Global settings, there is setting for company code where we can decide whether to allow negative stocks or not by selecting the block.
In that if we select it, then we can issue the material before receiving it.Ultimately it will show negative stock. And as soon as you receive the material, it will become positive.
I've tried my best to explain, try this.
    Reward points, if found helpful.

  • Material showing negative stock

    All SAP Gurus,
For one the material system is showing negative stock.
We have checked the material master record for this material, but the tick for 'allow negative stock' is not active for this material.
We have also checked the settings in OMJ1, there also 'Allow Negative stock' is not ticked.
Why this problem may be arising?
    Regards,

    Hi CBaba,
    Thanks for the reply.
    I'm talking about IM.
I have checked those settings, but ther is no problem with it (no tick in negative stock).
But system is showing the negative stock, on back date (not in todays date).
    Where may be the problem?
