Why am I getting duplicate e-mails?

When opening e-mails on my iPhone, I find that I frequently see duplicate e-mails. This is not the case when I check mail on my iMac. It primarily happens when I receive e-mails from companies, not the individuals in my address book. I know it is not due to sender error, since I just sent myself an e-mail from work, and it shows up twice. Anyone know a fix for this?

This very same problem began for me today.
I had not seen this happen, but today, every new mail item from the AOL account appears in duplicate.
None of my other mail accounts do that -- just AOL. I had Entourage check the same AOL acount and it only grabbed one copy of each message, so this seems to be an iPhone-AOL thing.
Beyond that, I haven't figured out the fix, but I wanted to let you know that there's at least two of us with duplicate messages.

Do you see duplicates if you setup mail on your computer? This will help isolate the problem a bit, to find out if it's just with the iPad.
And, what server settings are you using for your hotmail account? Don't include the username/password or email address.

The messages says that I need to write my serial number, Does this mean I just got a message from a hacker who wants to hack my iPhone or does this mean Apple is really offering me this?.
Please somebody reply I have no idea why would apple send me this message, and it tells me that the sponsor was from the CEO of Apple (Steve Jobbs).

junk / spam - use your mail program's filters
keep one for private/personal and another for more business type
you send an email to someone who does have a problem or is auto-responding that in the past there were rogue email virus that would "collect' all the addresses in someone's address book.
now you have Facebook Twitter and others asking (and in some cases not even asking!) to "scan' (and store) your contacts - and then match your Fb 'friends and family' against.... theirs, and so on down the line. A diagram of social relationships and interactions. it gets to "6-degrees of Kevin Bacon" around the world.
Just send and add to junk filter. If it isn't YOU or from your contacts, put it in junk folder and go through.
Email is one place where there might be some value in 3rd party utility. Sometimes your ISP or email host will provide a way to pre-filter before it downloads. If junk, don't download, do not allow html, do not download images - they can come off web servers and tell that the email reached a real person and the IP address.

Why am I getting duplicates

I am getting low resolution duplicates, 3MB file with a 2Kb duplicate. I have done nothing to cause this. Why is this happening? I am using Elements 6.
edit: I have just noticed that the duplicate files have a name very different than I am used to . The name is a string of 13 numbers.
edit 2: OK, problem solved. For some reason my DroidX phone is deciding to produce thumbnail files for some of my pictures and then the original and the thumbnail is downloaded by Photoshop Elements producing duplicates.

You are not getting duplicates of all your photos in iPhoto - you are looking into the iPhoto library using the finder - you should not use the finder with the iPhoto library - you manage the iPhoto library using iPhoto - any deletions, changes, edits or other modifications to the iPhoto library done with the finder risk corrupting your library database and losing data
iPhoto has a database structure and has at least two versions of each photo in the library (an original and a thumbnail) and if you edit a photo there will be a third version - the modified version -- these are not duplicates and none of them can be safely deleted

Why do I get duplicate pictures when I download from my iPhone to iphoto

Ever since I upgraded my iMac to Yosemite, when I sync my iPhone with my iMac and iPhoto. I get duplicate pictures in my iPhoto. I have to go in and manually delete the duplicates. Does anyone know why? Is there a setting that I can adjust so that I don't get the duplicates?

You can consider to use Firefox Sync to sync all the profiles.
You can do a custom install of each version and install each version in its own program folder.<br />
Safest is to modify the desktop shortcut and add -P "profile name" to the command line to start each version with its own profile.<br />
Be careful with clicking a file in Windows Explorer to open the default browser, so make sure to select the correct profile in the profile manager and check the don't ask setting.

WHy do I get this message "MAIL 1,522 notifications" ??

I'm regularly getting these crazy mail notifications, such as the one below— "MAIL 1,522 notifications" —in the upper right of my screen. I have an Air with 10.9.2 OS.
This has been going on since the last upgrade, and I get the messages several times p/day, usually there is no mail, much less thousands of new notifications. WTH?

One other thing to try is Check for new messages and set it to Manually.
Failing that, you can disable the notifications altogether in System Preferences/Notifications /Mail

Why do I get duplicate events in iCal when I input them on my iPhone?

Every time I add a new event on my iPhone (as opposed to my iPad or desktop) I get a duplicate entry. This started to occur a few days ago for no apparent reason. This does not happen if I input the event on any other device.
Is there a way to solve this?

This happened to me and finally figured out what the problem is I think. I have MobileMe syncing set up on my iPod Touch and also had set in iTunes to do syncing to the iPod Touch - so one set was coming from MobileMe and another was coming from iTunes on the Mac that the iPod Touch hooks up to.
So I turned off the Syncing in iTunes and now I only have one set of things on the iPod Touch.
I think the reason for this duplication is that even without MobileMe you can keep the Mac and the iPod/iPhone/iPad in sync - the problem seems to be when you do have MobileMe that you probably don't want to have devices be syncing to both MobileMe and to the Mac as well.
To disable the iTunes syncing go to the "Info" tab and deselect the checkboxes for "Sync Address Book Contacts", "Sync iCal Calenders" and "Sync Mail Accounts". Bookmarks can only be synced with MoblieMe since there is no option for this in iTunes. I also have checked the "Sync Notes" checkbox, but not sure if I should have this checked or not. I don't have two duplicate sets of Notes on any device, so for now am leaving this as is.
I think Apple should fix this problem as it seems like a common complaint.

do you share your apple id with your family members? IF so that is the reason why you are seeing each others imessage.
You can share apple id for music and apps, but should have separate id for imessage/icloud/facetime.
To resolve the issue go to all the devices - settings - message - send&receive - remove or uncheck the apple id.

Why do I get duplicate playlists on my iPod nano?

If I add a song to a playlist on my Nano and then sync my iPod with my computer, it creates a duplicate playlist. This seems silly, a duplicate playlist just because I added 1 song. Why doesn't sync just update the playlist in ITunes with the new song from the playlist on my Nano? I've been poking around the settings and I can't figure it out. Any ideas?

Why do i get duplicate notes?

For some reason i have duplicates of my synced notes on my iPhone.
Even my mac only displays 1, but my iPhone can show up to 4 duplicates.
It makes it complicated working out which one to delete from my phone without worrying if I'm going to delete the original on iCloud.
I definitely only have iCloud on for note syncing, my other accounts in mail/contacts/calendar have notes sync off.
Any ideas what i can do as its super messy?

it happens to me sometimes, i think that is a problem of syncing, I cannot tell you exactly what to do but try not to close notes straight after you changed things, give it time to sync.
and also check iCloud.com see if there are duplic there.
