why am I getting this message: the item you are trying to buy is no longer available?

It appears that the iTunes and App Stores are having issues right now. Try again later or tomorrow.

The item may have been removed either permanently or temporarily between now and when you last downloaded it. There may be an problem with the App Store or your connection to it. Have you tried resetting your device by pressing and holding the Home button and power button until the silver apple appears? Try waiting a couple of hours and trying again.

App Store says update available for iPhone app. Try to install and get the message "the item you are trying to buy is no longer available" for three apps in a row. Even when I go to the specific app and press Update, the update begins to install then aborts with this error message.iPhone 3GS running iOS 5.1.1. Also very long delay typing each keystroke in this message.

That error message is usually indicative of a problem with the App Store. If you look through the forums, you'll see that a number of people are experiencing the problem. Try again tomorrow.

  • When I try to update itunes, I get this message "the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable how do I solve this problem?

I am having a problem updating my iTunes. I get a message that says "the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Can anyone tell me how to uninstall iTunes?
I get this message either when I download a new iTunes or try to uninstall it. I am using Windows 7 64.
    Thanks

I get a message that says "the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Which particular .msi file (or files) does the message (or messages) go on to say cannot be found? (Several different .msi files might be mentioned in this context: itunes.msi, bonjour.msi, AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi, etc.)

  • HT201272 I get this when trying to download anything I have bought in iTunes Store "The item you are trying to buy is no longer avalible"

All music I ever purchased in iTunes is showing up as no longer available and is impossible to download. Thing is I can still find every single one of those albums when searching for them in iTunes Store. All of them is showing up with a price tag button next to them.
Is this how iTunes Store work? The albums get removed from my account after a year or so and if I suffer a complete hard drive failure I have to purchase everything again? Sounds like a rather crap deal if that is the case...

    Same problem here.
After complete factory reset and restore with itunes cant download any of my music.
It just says The item you tried to buy is no longer available.
    How can i fix this?

  • Why do I get the message 'the item you are trying to buy is unavailbale'?

This is a new song and is listed for purchase when searching 'I Wonder' by Kellie Pickler yet it does not allow purchasing? I have no other problems with other songs.

It would be good if a message was posted on the iTunes homepage to warn that there might be a temporary problem with downloading.
Yes, I thought the same. This is, to be fair, the first time I have not been able to purchase songs from the iTMS - but at the very least, a current store "status" on Apple's part would be helpful.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

    I get message like below on each stage of the update, Quicktime, Safari & iTunes;
It's so annoying as until I update my iTunes account my phone won't sync.

Many thanks for the screenshot. (The key to these is knowing which particular .msi file is being mentioned by the message.)

(Assuming that the QuickTime and Safari messages were also citing bonjour64.msi, you should also then be good to go with those installs too.)

  • Attempting to update from 10.1 to 10.4 I get this msg: "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package "iTunes.msi".

Attempting to update from 10.1 to 10.4 I get this msg:
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package “iTunes.msi”. ?
I locate the file in "Program Files\iTunes" and change the path.  I then get this:
"The file ’C:\Program Files\iTunes is not a valid installation package for the product iTunes. Try to find the installation package ‘ iTunes.msi ’ in a folder from which you can install iTunes."
    What folder will work ???

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • "The item I've tried to buy is no longer available"

I can't download a song that is on the top 100 downloaded songs list. A message says that the item I've tried to buy is no longer available and might be located somewhere else for a different price. What gives?

Just tried to reinstall and everything went well! Problem fixed.
