Why am I having lines/borders appearing around my placed Illustrator images in my Indesign Document?

After I save my InDesign Document and close it... When I open it back up again. There are borders around all of my Illustrator placed images.
I can't seem to find out what is causing them or how to get rid of them.
When I am working on the file with it open they are not there.. it's only after I save, close and reopen.
What the heck????

Thanks for asking Will....
I've gotten so confused with back issues of the file....saved in InDesign CC that I just started over..
Was simpler to do that than to try to fix the one I was working on.....
But while I have you trying to help me..
Could you tell me how to set the document setup for a new document in InDesign CC to inches?
I tried going into the preferences.... it's not there.. Looked through all of the preferences.. still can't find it.
The documents I'm working on are 47" x 28" or thereabouts and I am having to go back to InDesign 5.5
create the document there then open it in InDesign CC to have it the right size.
Thanks for your help!

why do I keep getting an error "insufficient data for an image" when opening a document in Adobe Reader XI 11.0.06

I am also having this problem, especially with scanned documents. Since I need to download scanned documents in my work this is a big problem!Sometimes I can read but not save the document, sometimes one or two of the pages will be blank from the start. I have the latest version of Adobe Reader XI (11.0.10). I tried reducing the page zoom, a suggested workaround on this page: Acrobat: “Insufficient data for an image” error after updating to 10.1.4 or 9.5.2,  but that did not help at all. FWIW I use a Windows 8.1 PC with 4 GB RAM. I usually download PDFs from the internet using Firefox.

  • In Reminders on IOS7 on IPAD a Black Line has appeared around line 17/18. I cannot enter more lines after this

A mysterious Black Line has appeared in one of my Reminder sections on the Reminders App on Ipad 4. It is around Line 17/18.
It does not at the moment appear on my iphone using the same app
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I have the same problem, and have for many mounth now, searched for an alternative til iOS Reminders which can sync. to Exchange, but we cannot find one. We use Tasks in Outlook very much.
We have several iPad's with the problem, and we can not solve the problem.
Apple will NOT listen to us, they just say we have to restore the system, but it does not solve the problem!!
    Very frustating.
Now the Microsoft Surface 2 look, like a good alternative, and we will go in that direction. We cannot live with thi issue.

  • Grey borders appear around inserted photos in videos

    Hi,
I have Adobe Premiere Elements 10 and am quite new to video editing. I am creating a video of myself talking against an infinity white background. I'm trying to insert some excel charts next to me talking. I've turned them into photos (JPEG). However when I insert the photo into my video, clicking no to 'video merge' a thin grey border appears around the photo. I've checked and this is not there in the photo. It also appears if I leave the photo in photoshop format. Is there a way to not have this border? Let me know any important details I've missed off.
    Many thanks,
    Laurie

Thanks for the follow up. Glad that the cropping suggestion worked for you.
For your convenience, the following is a copy/paste of the Announcement at the top of this forum. All the details of the Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA GeForce Roll Back are included
Announcement: Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA Video Card Driver Roll Back
    Hide Details
If you are a Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card and you are experiencing Premiere Elements 10 display and/or unexplained program behavior, then your first line of troubleshooting needs to be rolling back the video card driver version instead of assuring that it is up to date.
Since October 2013 to the present, there have been a growing number of reports about display and unexplained workflow glitches specific to the Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer has a NVIDIA GeForce video card. If this applies to you, then the “user to user” remedy is to roll back the NVIDIA GeForce video card driver as far as is necessary to get rid of the problems. The typical driver roll back has gone back as far as March – July 2013 in order to get a working Premiere Elements 10. Neither NVIDIA nor Adobe has taken any corrective action in this regard to date, and none is expected moving forward.
Since October 2013, the following thread has tried to keep up with the Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA reports

  • How to erase thin white line that automatically appears around edited figure in image? (CS6)

A thin white border around the figure that I had edited appeared out of nowhere. I was able to erase it before editing the background but now I can't erase it or remember how I did that.
Does anyone know how to get rid of this line? If by setting the eraser color to the background color, how do I do that? As I get rid of the line, I'd also like to refine the figure's outline so it becomes cleaner.

Can I assume by "had edited," that you had someone else edit the image for you? If so, they need to create their mask selection one or two pixels inward from the edge of the figure, preferrably at a higher resolution than your jpeg.
If the document is multi-layered, you "could" use the eraser tool and manually erase the line on the figure layer. This is tedious compared to other methods. If the document is already flat (one layer) and you want to do it this (tedious) way, you should rather choose a small paintbrush (instead of the eraser) with the background color. Again, if the figure and the background color are not on separate layers, a better way might be to select the background color (magic wand tool or Select>Color Range...) and then Select>Modify>Expand 1 pixel, then fill with the background color. Better yet, learn about Refine Edge... to get a better selection and do the same thing.
None of the above methods is the best way, but only mentioned if the document is not multi-layered (with the figure on one layer and the background on another).
Other than those "simple" methods, to get a really good knockout selection, use the path tool and "draw" the edge of the figure, one or two pixels inside the figure, and use that as your selection, and make a layer mask of the selection, showing the selection, which will cause the background to be hidden. Then on a layer underneath, you can fill with any color. But if you had someone else do this for you, they should have known to do that way in the first place.

  • Powerpoint to PDF conversion leads to dark borders appearing around images in the pdf. How do I fix this?

Hi, so I'm doing a batch conversion of powerpoint presentations to PDF. The originals have icons with no borders around them, the final product has borders around all the images.
Is there a bunch of settings that I can change so that this doesn't happen?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
What is the version of PowerPoint and Acrobat you are using?
Please make sure that you have updated the Acrobat to its latest version. Go to Help -> Check for Updates.
Also, try printing the PPT to Adobe PDF printer and then check the issue.

  • Heading wraps to 2nd line, but why data of 2nd line heading appearing in next page

    Hi,
Im generating a matrix report which has dynamic heading. When the heading extends the page, it wraps to next line(2nd line). But the data corresponding to the 2nd line of heading is being displayed in the next page.
I wanted a solution to display the data of the 2nd line heading to appear just underneath the 1st line data.
    Thanx in advance
    Regards
    Thobula Ramulu Rakesh

I'm assuming you only have one across repeating frame(?)
You will need to make the field that contains the heading in the across repeating frame large enough to contain the two rows you require.
Reports doesn't support expansion of the matrix column headings by default. If you have a definite requirement for the expansion to be dynamic (ie: push the matrix down), you can add another across repeating frame above the across repeating frame of the matrix and base it on the same across group. However, this can be tricky both to create and maintain.

  • Why does a weird line keep appearing on my iPod touch screen?

I have recently got a new iPod touch and sometimes thin vertical lines appear on the left side of the screen like a margin. It's usually just one line but today there are 2 and occasionally 3! They are not there all the time and when they are the colour of them changes depending on the background! I've tried restarting and resetting but it's still there! Does anyone know what this is?

Try a restore. If it is still there, you most likely have a hardware issue on logic board. Contact Apple and they will replace.

  • Printing front panel of VI - no borders appear around the indicator box values

    Dear readers,
I am using Labview 6.1 on a pentium PC with adequate memory etc. I've been trying to print out the front panel of my VI using a postscript printer and the post script printing options available in the Labview. I notice that the printed front panel doesn't show the rectangular borders that is supposed to surround the values contained in indicators and controls.
Apart from this problem, everything looks good, such as it prints out in the way that I want...with nice white background to not waste ink.
Could someone please advise me on what options to set up in order to print the borders around the indicator box values? Thanks very much for any help.
    I noticed that for
an older Labview for the apple Mac, namely Labview 4 for the Mac, you can just print the window of the front panel and everything comes out wonderful....you get the borders around the indicator and control box values.
    Thanks again.
    Kenny Leong

    Hi Mike!
Thanks for replying to my post. Greatly appreciated. Is it possible to set the colours for the indicator edges? I'll attach a screen capture of my front panel, and also a digi-pic of the print out. The printout is ok except there's no borders around the indicator values. I printed it out on a hp laserjet 6MP printer as well as on a hp 4050 printer and the printed panels have no borders around the values. I'll attach my front panel vi too. Thanks a lot Mike.

  • When I apply redaction, a white line partially appears around redacted area

I’m hoping you can help me figure out an issue. I created a redaction action wizard in Pro X (Windows 7 Ultimate) to change the name of the month for 280+ client reports. I use a new copy of the master file each month (the month always being redacted is "september", the month with the most characters).
The problem is that when I redact on a color background (using the matching color overlay), I get a fine thin white line that goes only across the top and right side of where the redaction box was (see below). Nothing across the bottom or left side – pretty close color match. The original files were created in Illustrator CS5.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you. I figured it out right before I heard from you.  Running the OCR before the redaction made it work correctly.
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question.
    Make it a great day.

  • White fringe appears around text in exported images?

Hey all, I'm having some problems when I export an image that has no background and antialiased text. No matter what format I save it in or in what way I save it (Save for web and devices, Save as), this white outline always comes up. However, in photoshop, I never see this.
Below is an example, where on the left is a screenshot of the image in photoshop with a black background layer underneath it, and on the right is the .PNG after export with a black layer underneath.
    http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/4483/whitefringe.png
Can anyone explain why this is happening and how to fix it?
    -Trey

It is PNG 24 you're using, right?
You actually appear to have a light fringe in both cases in the 'a'.
What layer styles do you have active?  I 'm thinking you may have an "inner glow" effect active.
I'm just not seeing the fringe that you are when I mock up what you've done, but I'm just guessing at the effects you've used.
Can you post a small PSD with these fonts in them?
Here's the PNG from the above:

  • How can I get text to appear over my placed or pasted images in InDesign CS6?

I am new to InDesign and am having a few issues. I have a basic template for a site that I have built in Illustrator. I have placed the design into an InDesign document (I have tried both copy/paste and the Place feature). When I try to use InDesign to overlay text on top of the image, it shows up fine whenever I export to an image file. However, when I export to HTML, the text gets pushed directly underneath the image in web browser (it's visible, but shows on white space below my desired template). Is there any way to fix this? I have already tried enabling "Ignore Text Wrap" on the text frame and the text itself is set to the front of the document. Thanks!

InDesign is not a web authoring tool. If you’re expecting text to simply overlay a graphic in export HTML from InDesign you’re going to be highly disappointed.
I’ll make the assumption you know nothing about web authoring tools and HTML/CSS. I suggest you look into Muse.

  • Strange lines appear around transparent PNG's when document PDF'ed

    Hi
I have inserted some transparent PNG images into my Pages document, and they look fine on my screen, and they also look fine when I export to PDF and view in Preview.
However, if I view the PDF in Acrobat (or send it to a Non-Mac user and they view it in Acrobat), there are thin lines around many of the PNG images, which make them look ugly and sloppy, and very un-Mac-Like! Any ideas why these lines are appearing and how to prevent them?

    Hi logree
    Welcome to the forum.
My guess is that it is showing just the edge of the masked background used to hide the alpha channel background of the .png.
This happens I think, because the postscript mask may be centred on the outside rows of pixels in Acrobat, with half the pixels still being revealed.
You can try masking in Pages' instead:
    +Menu > Format > Instant Alpha+
or try a Photoshop file with transparent background, to see if that eliminates the problem.
