Why can't I connect to the Internet when I'm not home

If you do not have an iPad with 3G cellular service, you can only connect to the internet when you have access to Wifi.  Wifi is not available everywhere, but there are places that do offer free Wifi service, such as Starbucks, Panera Bread, the Airport, etc.  When you are at a location which offers free Wifi access, you have to join their network, which is usuall nothing more than touching a connect option that should automatically pop up, when you open Safari on your ipad.

Also, download and open the free Adobe Reader app. Then read the Help section to figure out how to use it.

  • TS1398 Why can I still connect to the internet, but I can no longer connect to the iTunes store?

My family recently gave me an iPad for Mother's Day. It's been really awesome, but suddenly today I began getting an error: "Cannot connect to iTunes Store."
The process looks great right up to the download. Then, after the icon appears with the status bar, just before you would expect the status bar to start filling out...BAM, error!
I can connect to the internet just fine. I am able to sync via WiFi without trouble. I'm pretty sure I have tried all the troubleshooting on-and-offs. I even did a restore.
Am I missing something? Why would it work fine one minute and get all quirky the next?
Help me Obi-wan Kenobi; you're my only hope.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • Why doesn't iPhone connect to the internet when connected a computer?

Why doesn't iPhone connect to the internet when plugged into a computer that has ethernet internet connection?

Also, computers don't work that way either to share a connection like that. Just because you plug a device into a computer doesn't mean it can use it's internet connection that way.
Windows Mobile devices have been able to use their host USB cable to connect to the internet, since at least the year 2000. (And vice versa, more recently.)
It was actually a minor surprise at first that Apple didn't support it.

  • Why won't AirPort Connect to the internet?

The green indicator light is on, why won't AirPort connect to the internet? Here's my config http://localhostr.com/files/cfee4c/Problem.zip

    Hi Stress Test:
Thanks very much for the reply. I've actually sorted out the problem since posting - just a few minutes ago. I reset the AirPort and reconfigured everything in manual mode with the ethernet cord from my computer connected to the AirPort. I then disconnected the ethernet cord, rebooted the modem and AirPort, did a bit more troubleshooting and suddenly I was connected to the Internet! Still not sure exactly what I did that fixed the problem, but everything is working ok now.

Why cannot Adobe Exchange connect to the internet?  It says there is no internet connection, but there is.  I am using Dreamweaver CS6 on Windows 7 (64-bit).

I am sorry this is taking a time to do.  I am finding it difficult to find

I don't know why my Mac hardly connects to the Internet. The Internet bars are there but it does not browse, while my iPhone does.

If other Internet applications such as Mail and iTunes also don't work, run the Network Diagnostics assistant. How far do you get?

  • Not connecting to the internet unless laptop is plugged in.

This started last night. I have realized that I am not able to connect to the internet unless my laptop is plugged in. I can unplug it and run from battery and my network settings say that the Airport has a "Self-Addressed IP" and the internet doesn't work at all. As soon as I plug the laptop in to charge it, internet works again. Takes a few seconds and pages load everything works as normal. How can I fix this? It's frustrating that I need to have the charger with me. What would cause this?
    Thank you!

    this thread explains it somewhat.

  • My ipad will not connect to the internet unless the security is disabled.

My ipad will not connect to the internet unless the security is disabled. this was the diagnosis of the belkin router support tech, who spent 1 1/2 hours on the phone with me. my service provider is new -- one link. (Apple does not provide tech support to puerto rico after the 90 day free service expires.)

Read this for suggestions: iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
Especially note the section on using WEP security keys. In fact, if you are using WEP for security, change to WPA2. WEP has been deprecated by the WiFi Alliance since 2004 as insecure. It can be cracked in seconds with widely available S/W.

Alright, so I unplugged my Fios router and plugged in my NetGear router for about an hour or so. Then I unplugged my NetGear router and plugged back in my Fios router. But then, Ethernet slot on the Fios router is orange even though the wire was plugged in. However, when I switched back to the NetGear router, the Ethernet was green. Now I can't connect to the internet using the Fios router, why? BTW, I probably accidently unplugged the Fios Box but I quickly plugged it back in.
The system DHCP asigns the IP address based on the MAC hardware address of the router. If you plugged your Netgear into the ONT, and it was able to pick up an address that quick, you would need to find a way to release the address from the Netgear and unplug it quickly before it gets reasigned back to the Netgear. Or leave the Netgear unpluged for about a hour or two, then plug the Actiontec back into the ONT. It might not take an hour or two to get the new address, but it is one way to prevent residential customers from getting more than one public IP address. Or connect the Actiontec and call the Verizon FCS and have them release and renew your IP.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Airport working why can't I connect to the internet?

I am having a problem staying connected to the internet even though the airport is has four bars showing. When there is a connection I have a hard time opening more than one window. One tab will be fine while the next will tell me to check my network. Network diagnostics usually pops and I have to wait for the computer to figure out that it is connected to the internet. The last time this happen all I needed was an upgrade but this is a macbook from late 2006 so it will not accept the OS X lion uprade not enough memory.

go to applications>utilities, and make sure your wireless is showing up in the left colum. If you see it there follow the promps to set it up
