Why am I not allowed to use my prepaid gift cards to buy OS X Mountain Lion?

I am having problems installing the new software, it just sends me to the billing page. Is it because I live in Canada?

When I click on buy app this pops up
So I type in my password and it directs me to this page
And it only allows me to pay only by credit card and not giftcard....what should I do?

Why Can't I use an Apple Gift card to buy an ipad!?!

So, I received an apple gift card for graduation from college. It was $500 and I wanted to use to buy an iPad.
The person at the apple store said I was not allowed to use a gift card to pay for more than %50 of an iPad.
My question is...WHY? They got their money when someone purchased the gift card, what does it matter?
I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this issue, or knows why this is apple's policy. It just doesn't seem to make sense to me.

That is a very, very big assumption.
Apple could simply check the gift card and see if the purchase of that card was valid. They would have to Do that anyway to verify the amount on it anyway.
Not wanting to pony up the cash could be a sign of naughtiness.

I have a prepaid gift card and iTunes will not accept it as a form of payment to pay a balance that I owe. Why won't they appect this card?

iTS quality has been horrendous this past month, but it's not the fault of the Advisor's, this was Apple's shots.
Now, standard gift cards (iTS family of stores) should work without a problem. It seems you are trying to use something else? Keep in mind you cant use a GIFT to pay for a GIFT.
If you say you have a balance that you owe, then it looks like you're probably standing in bad credit as it is with the iTS.

You might not be able to use your credit if you see a message that your credit is temporarily unavailable. You can try again later.
You can use store credit to purchase items until the credit is gone. See how much credit you have left.
Your iTunes account can have gift certificates, prepaid cards, allowance credits, and free song credits at the same time. Learn how your purchases are billed.
You need a credit card to purchase an iTunes Gift online.

If you've redeemed the card into your account then you should be able to buy items where you use that account - so your iPod or computer's iTunes

TV programmes can't be redownloaded in all countries (and even where they can be there is no guarantee that they will remain in a country's store for future redownloading) so it may be easier to do it on your computer's iTunes and then sync them (and so that you can take a backup)

Ok, I have been on the phone twice now with customer support, all I want is an alert sent to my IPad for data usages !
I want an alert sent to my iPad, or my phone, they can not, or will not do it? My phone is through at&t, Verizon will not except any phone number that is not a Verizon! WHY? my iPad is through Verizon, I know they can send alerts to the iPad, because they did it, they sent me a new password through an alert? I went over on my data plan because I did not get the alert in time, it was sent through email, a day late! Also, i asked about being able to serf the Internet and talk on the phone on Verizon, I was told that only 4G devices are capable, Wow,! I have been able to to this with my AT&T iPhone 3Gs from day one. I am now rethinking if I want to switch to Verizon? Is AT&T really that much more advanced?

Only on the ipad 2 has the reminders i was told. Can u get my verizon app in the apple market? I did that for the iphone4 verizon. U can always sign in my verizon on ur ipad. Even if u switch to get a phone with verizon the ipad is on a different #.
