Why am I now unable to download app updates via iTunes?

I am unable to update my apps in iTunes.  When I log in and search for updates, the list of apps to update populates, but when I click to download the updates, I get the message regarding content for the 17+ crowd, and I acknowledge this, but the download(s) do not start.  My software is up-to-date as of today, but this problem started just before I performed the latest updates.  I can, however, update directly from my iPhone/iPad,iPod.  What gives?

hi. i had the same problem. i have had to download updates apps one by one and in this way worked. i think it's an apple store problem.
i have another trouble, if i click on "purchased" a pop up windows come up asking me the password, i type the password and a new pop up windows come up again asking me the password again and so on. i can't see my purchased apps.
note: i'm sure i have typed the password right, it works for normal download of apps but it doesn't allow me to see purchased apps.

  • Is it possible to auto-download app update in iTunes, like podcasts can do?

Is it possible to auto-download apps in iTunes, like podcasts can do?
I wish I could set app updates, in iTunes, to auto-download every hour when available just like my podcasts do. Am I overlooking some way to do this or is this really a wish-list feature?

It is not possible, I assume due to certain apps charging for updates (as will be the likely case for sat-nav map updates etc). This is why iTunes requests your password for confirmation that you want to install the update, whether it is free or chargeable.
What I would like to see is the option to reject an update! That way, if you don't want to pay to update an app, you can remove the notification spot on your iPhone and in iTunes!

  • Downloading app updates problem - iTunes 11.1

Since I downloaded and installed the new version, it keeps freezing when downloading app updates, they get so far then sort-of hang. I get no error messages. Is there a way I can stop a download and restart it?

    Hey Steve,
I had this problem as well and found a way how to solve this:
You need to reset your iPhone by pressing the Home button and the Power button simultaneously until the iPhone reboots.
After it rebooted I unlocked the phone, connected it to my PC and ran the iTunes sync without any problems.
Hope this helps with your issue as well.
    Best

  • Trying to Download IOS Update via ITunes

Hi.....I have an IPhone 4. Im not able to download the most recent IOS7.0.6 update via wireless and am trying to update via ITunes.Phone is plugged in to PC.  I have verified that I have the latest version of ITunes. However, when I go to file-devices,  Backup is greyed out and the only option is "Restore from Backup". What am I doing wrong??

    FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
    3. Repeat the process if necessary.

  • Unable to download app updates directly to iPhone

when trying to update apps from the app store directly to my iPhone, the update appears to download and go most of the way through the istallation process and then gives me an unable to download error message. I am able to download new apps directly on my iPhone without problem, but I can't update existing apps. I am usin the new 2.1 firmware, but was having the problem before I upgraded too. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There is a problem with Apple’s servers that only they can fix and the issue has been going on for several days.
According to Fly150 in another discussion, this will work.
This is a workaround only and not a fix. If you want to update the Apps while waiting for Apple to fix Updates:
    1. Go to App Store
    2. Select Purchased
    3. Select All
    4. Scroll down to find the Apps showing update
    Select update on the Apps
Hopefully the red notification number will go away after the updates are applied.
Another option is to update your apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the updated apps to the iPad.
    1. Launch iTunes
    2. Click on Apps in the list under the Library heading in the left Sidebar.
Click on Updates at the top in the window on the right
    Update all of the apps
Connect your iPad and Sync with iTunes
If you do not see the sidebar in iTunes 11 - go to View>Show Sidebar from the iTunes menu at the top.

  • Has anyone else been unable to download app updates since changing their apple id?

I've been trying to download my app updates on my phone since changing my id (as itunes apparently required) and to no avail. I have restored my phone, changed the id on my itunes store settings and still nothing but a message saying that "and apple id for username@emailaddress has already been created", umm I KNOW!! I CREATED IT!! so yeah, slightly frustrated and wanting to throw my phone at a hard surface, help please!!

I have this problem too. I've had it downloaded previously on my 1st Gen iPad, so it even shows up on my "Purchased Items" list, but no icon showing any option at all ie, Download, Purchase, Open.
Is it because the current version is not compatible with the iPad 2's latest iOS? If that is the case, isn't the App store supposed to serve the last working version??

  • Unable to download or update to itunes 10.6 on windows 7 64bit

Hi, recently I restored my laptop to the original factory settings and tried to install itunes again. However, with the link given on the apple's website to download Itunes, I only managed to download the 9.2.1.5 version even though the website stated that it version 10.6. So I installed it unknowingly that it's the old version and now I can't connect my Ipod as it requires version of 10.5 or higher. I even tried updating from Itunes 9.2 itself (by going to help> check for updates) and it even prompt me that newer version of Itunes (10.6.3) is available. So I clicked "download Itunes" and it opens up Apple Software Update to check for updates. Weird thing is, when it checks for available updates, it prompts me that "Your software is up-to-date". How can I get the latest version of Itunes? Even when I go to http://www.apple.com/sg/itunes/ itself i keep downloading the old version which is 9.2. Help
P.s i'm running on OS 5.1.1 on my ipod touch hence it requires a new version of itunes. Right now I'm running on itunes 9.2

Even when I go to http://www.apple.com/sg/itunes/ itself i keep downloading the old version which is 9.2. Help
I haven't seen one of these reported for a while. (There was a little burst of them on XP systems a few months ago, where they would keep trying to download a 10.6.1.x instead of a 10.6.3.25.)
Although you're getting different symptoms than described in the user tip, a few of them responded to the treatments in the following user tip:
"There is a problem with this Windows Installer package ..." error messages when installing iTunes for Windows
(Not entirely sure why having an ASU problem would cause the wrong version of the installer file to appear when downloading an iTunesSetup.exe or iTunes64Setup.exe from the website ... although something exotic might be happening with the installer cache, which is part of the ASU machinery.)

  • Cannot BULK download App Updates after iTunes 9.0.1 Update

I had a bunch of updates sitting there, and I decided to update iTunes before doing them. I thought that would be smart. However, after the iTunes update to 9.0.1 was complete I got this message when I tried to bulk download the app updates:
*"The information on this page is outdated.*
*Click OK to refresh the page. If you have available updates after refreshing, click Download All Free Updates."*
I don't know what "refresh the page" means; I tried restarting iTunes & restarting the computer and nothing is working. The information is not outdated, as I really do have to download all the updates that are shown. I had to MANUALLY download each update, which is kind of a pain, but at least I was able to get the updates. The "download all free updates" (for a bulk download) button refuses to work though.
Any ideas? I don't want to have to manually update each app every time if I don't have to. Thanks!

All I have to do is select Applications from the Library list - then in the lower right corner select - Check for updates - if there are any then I select Download updates from the page that comes up and iTunes d/l the updates.

  • Can't download app updates in itunes

    I'm running Mac OS X 10.6.8 and iTunes 10.5.1.
I'm able to sync with my iphone fine and access the iTunes store (although very slowly - can take minutes to load), but when I try to download updates to my iphone apps via iTunes, it can never conncet to the the store.  It just says "Accessing iTunes Store..." in the top/middle screen.  All other internet activity is fine on the computer.  Just get this "Accessing iTunes Store..." message at the top ALL THE TIME.  Please help???

I understand that your App Store does not show your app updates. Please follow the steps below to help resolve the issue.
    1. Close All Apps on iPad: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    2. Sign out of iTunes & App Stores: Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Tap AppleID > Sign out
    3. Reset All Settings: Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
    4. Reboot iPad
    5. Sign back into iTunes and App Stores: Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Sign In with AppleID
Thank you for being an iTunes store customer. Apple appreciates your business.
