Why am I seeing iCal invites to other peoples calendars after updating to Mavericks?

After my upgrade to Mavericks, using iCal 7, I am now seeing many invites that are to calendars I subscribe to (i.e. not my calendars) - even though these calendars are just being shared as "Public" and not ones that I should be able to edit.
Note: Clicking on Accept, etc on these invites does not accept the invite in other people's calendars.

After many months of talking with Apple Support, their engineers and multiple periods of the issue being escalated, Apple have now practically given up saying it's a bug (nice). There may be a clue where Calendar users who do not use an iCloud.com email address for their Apple ID may be initiating the error. With multiple users like this, it propagates through my Calendar into many invites to events that are nothing to do with me in the drop-down box from the top-left of the app (even though I get the correct number showing up next to my calendar title in the left-hand list).
Phhh... Exchange Server here I come, unless the next OSX fixes it (as it was all fine before Mavericks)

Lena the only previous e-mail message was on Tuesday Dec 30 which stated…..
Lets get your Caller ID to work as it should! I will send you a private message so that we can better assist.
This e-mail states  that another ‘private message’ presumably via e-mail would be sent/received but I haven’t received anything else from an e-mail perspective. Presumably it is just a matter of navigating through a low number of settings to get to the caller-id option.
    Thank you,

  • Why is my battery draining so quickly after updating to Mavericks?

Why is my battery draining so quickly after updating to Mavericks?

    1. Check the cycle count of the battery. It may be due for replacement. If the power adapter is connected almost all the time, the battery may need replacing even though the cycle count is not too high.
    2. Follow these instructions, or these for OS X 10.9 or later.
    3. You can also try resetting the SMC.
    4. Make sure your system is up to date in Software Update.
    5. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service center.

I updated my iPhone 4 over wifi and it went through the process fine, until it switched back on and now refusese to recognize my sim card!
    Any ideas?

Usually this means the phone was previously jailbroken or hacked to unlock it from the carrier it was locked to, and the update re-locked it to that carrier.

After updating to mavericks I have to constantly enter my apple ID for mail, iBooks, iTunes and many other applications that used to be part of my keychain. How can I get my apple ID log-in to work again?

Several times I've re-entered my passwords under Preferences/Internet Accounts/iCloud and it won't save since I've installed Mavericks.  Also, the iCloud icon in the left column in Preferences/Internet Accounts/iCloud is greyed out but allows me to click on it to set-up.  When I click on iCloud the password is filled out but the "Enable this account" check-box is not checked.  I check it, and all seems correct.  The icon is no longer grey, the password is correct, the "activate this account" check-box is checked.  Then, when I launch mail, notes etc. I'm still prompted to re-enter my apple ID.  The log-in loop continues.  For years my keychain has worked perfectly.  What has changed in Mavericks?

Sometimes it is fruitless to try to "fix" a broken account on an iOS device. I would delete the account on both devices and then configure the account again from scratch.

  • Unable to see ical invitation replies

Our household uses multiple Apple devices that are linked to my credit card for payment with ITunes, ICloud extra storage etc.  Our family typically sends invitations to one another from iCal to our respective iCloud addresses.  This entire process worked flawlessly until mid October when my wife, daughter, sons, etc. received invitations from me and replied.  Their devices are showing they replied, but my iCal shows them as not replying and leaves the appointment grayed out in iCal.  What is peculiar is that that there appears to by no rhyme or reason why this happens, but it was not long after we upgraded all of our machines to Mavericks.
    Thank you.

An error in my posting: I do not see my appointments.

  • HT3819 why cant i see my shared button on my itunes after i sync my acounts together?

why cant i see the "shared" button thing when i sync my itunes together?

Whats happened then is iTUnes basicly "Copied" its empty library file onto the iPod. When you connect the iPod to iTUnes it copys music over AND the library/database iTUnes has. Id say the music is there, but the iPOd Library hhas no "Link" or "Direction" to ponit to these files so it shows nothing.
The only option you have now is using yamipod http://www.yamipod.com/main/modules/home/ and seeing if it can recover these songs for you off the ipod. Read the "docs" on yamipods home page here to learn how to use it and what feature you need to use to recover off the iPod (Like Find lost music and repair iPOd) http://www.yamipod.com/main/modules/docs/
If it can not recover songs off the iPod, and you have no backups made, your going to be VERY limited in your options. you will have to "Re" import all your CDs. All songs you bought online you will have to email apple and see if they will offer a "Re" download of them. Keep in mind there under NO obligation to do so, but most have had success in emailing them and getting an offer to redownload songs they bought and have not be modified on the store. here a link to email the music store if you need to as a last resort http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/musicstore/download/
To backup music once you recover everything you can go here and follow steps http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/musicstore/backup/

  • Send iCal alarms to other people's email addresses

other than adding other peoples email addresses to my card, is there a way to do this? I want to be able to send email reminders to client appointments that I have scheduled in iCal.
    thanks,
    bl

I'm sorry that I dont know how to do this, but, I am wanting exactly the same feature.. I'd like to be able to just type in an email address for who the reminder should be sent to. This way, if I want to sent to myself and a client, then I can set up two alarms, one the standard way (to my email) and another email alarm (at the same, or a different time) to a clients email address.
I'm wondering, if it can't be done as a standard iCal feature, maybe the user of Apple Script might do it? There's an option to Run Script as an alarm category. Selecting this brings up a file browser to select the script you want to run. So I wonder, does anyone know how this could be achieved using Script maybe?
Or failing that, is there an Add-on that's already been written to iCal? I can't seem to find one, and I'm guessing that because Ferd II has replied with an "I dont know how" answer, then perhaps there's no real solution... haha, I see Ferd II that you're a frequent and knowledgeable iCal poster in these forums!
Fingers crossed we find a solution...

  • Cannot put iCal invite onto my Exchange calendar

    Hi there,
When I receive iCal invites and double-click them to open via iCal, they are always opened in my "Home" calendar under "On My Mac."  I can't move the invite to my Exchange account.  I've tried to delete all the folders "On My Mac" to no avail.  Is there anyway to automatically put invites onto my Exchange calendar?
    Thank you!
    Davy

It was my fault, because this problem really a Kerio Mail Server faliure!

  • ICal invite to a specific calendar

When accepting iCal invites (a .ics file) iCal places it in my Federal Holidays calendar. How do I switch it to one of my calendars? I can click on the event, and the the pull down menu is there to change the calendar, except I can't! iCal4.0.4/OS10.6.8

    3.0.5 (1270)
Just to check I wasn't going mad, I just did this:
    Opened GCal in Safari.
Created a new calendar: "Test Calendar"
Started Calaboration. Selected only the new calendar
    Closed iCal when prompted
Opened iCal and after the (rather alarming) 'upgrading calendars' message I had GOOGLE:TEST CALENDAR with Test Calendar listed under it. (This can also be seen as a CalDAV account in preferences.)
Right-clicking on the calendar name, I get "Show CalDAV Queue" as the first item.
Are you using a different version of iCal? If not, perhaps you would be best advised to go into iCal Preferences, to delete the CalDAV account and start again?
Edit: Just noticed you are running the same version, but advice still stands.

  • Can no longer see usage details of other phone lines since updating mobile app

I just updated the My Verizon Mobile App on my Galaxy Nexus. Since the update, I've lost the ability to see usage of 2 other phone lines I have on my account. Before the update, it was simple to see usage details of each of the 3 lines on my plan. Since I pay the bill and monitor usage, this was the app's most important feature to me. I've tried every menu option and usage detail button but cannot see usage details other than that of my own phone. Is there a way to see usage of other phones as was easily done before the update?

The primary account issue is likely the problem. My line was the second to be added and is not the "owner account" on My Verizon. I will call and get that changed when wait times are not usually long as I was just warned by the recorded message that answered my call to 611. It must be a change with the update as I was able to see other lines before. Thanks. PS. I submitted this question to Verizon thru their website as an email. I did get a call today that went to voicemail and ironically the connection was so bad I couldn't get the call back number from the agent that was nice enough to call.

  • Why do I get "iCal can't read this calendar file. No events have been added to your iCal calendar." when I am trying to sync an Apple Workshop appointment?

I made a reservation for an Apple store workshop, but when I try to open the download in iCal (Lion) , I keep getting an "iCal cannot read this calendar file." message.  Very frustrating.  Any insights would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Greetings,
What version of the Mac OS and what version of iCal are you running?
Are you using MobileMe calendars (or any other server based calendars like Google) in your iCal?
While you answer those questions you can try the following troubleshooting:
    1. First make an iCal backup:  Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal 1 at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
    2. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
---NOTE: Removing these files may remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
Once the computer is back up and running open iCal and test.
    Hope that helps.
