Why am I seeing ios 6.1 beta 4 when I do a software update?
I have been trying to do an over the air update of my iOS on my Verizon iPhone 4S from version 6.0.1 to 6.1 and everytime I go into Settings -> General -> Software Update, I am only offered iOS 6.1 beta 4. This is a work phone, so I really don't want to put a beta version of the OS on my phone. I didn't have this issue on my 4th gen iPad when I tried to update last night.
I have the same problem with an iPhone 4. I am not a developer and I certainly don't want to install the beta version. Reseting the phone did not help.

You can't resolve the issue, because the original iPad can only be updated to iOS 5.1.1 and no further.

Because that is not a feature of the iPhone (or of most phones). If someone does not answer when you call, it means they do not want to or cannot talk to you at that time. They could be on another call or they could be simply busy doing something else. Why does it matter which?

My iPhone 4S had the iOS 6 update and I have been trying to download all day but it won't work and now when I go to software update of says iOS 5.1.1 is up to date. And I cant restore my iPhone becuase when I go onto iTunes it says that it can't find my iPhone. I have tryed to download the most resent iTunes because I went to apple website and just hit download iTunes so I guess it's the most resent version and I don't know what to do. Should I go to an apple store?

Go to Settings > General > About and see what iOS version you are running. If it is lower than 5, you won't find the software update button. It was added when iOS 5 came out. The current iOS is 5.1.1. To update to the current OS, you'll need to connect to the computer you sync with (this is important - do not connect to a computer you do not sync with as you will lose you apps) and update the software in iTunes. Once you have updated to the 5.1.1, the software update button will be in Settings going forward. Make sure you have a lot of time. Updating from below 5 to 5 or higher is a somewhat lengthy process.

I'm so disgusted! I just realised I will lose the photos of my daughter's birth... And why??? because I pushed a stupid button for a software update???? Apple,..I need a solution. I haven't paid this device to have this kind of issues.
My Iphone is still in the recovery mode and I don't know if there is a way to restart it without losing my photos? I made the last backup months ago...:(((I'm a little confused. At what point did the phone go into Recovery mode? Did you just leave it alone for awhile after you clicked the update button? I just updated my phone, and after the initial download, the phone restarted itsef a couple of times, installing the update in the process. When you do an update, you need to leave your device alone until it is completely done.
As far as your photos go, sorry, but if you have not backed them up, and you are truely in Recovery mode, then you won't have any way to restore them.
Are they in your Photo Stream in iCloud by any chance?
If not, and you have to do a Recovery, then you won't be able to restore them from a backup.
But if they were so important, why wouldn't you have backed them up?
You cannot blame Apple for this. What if your phone had been stolen, or you had lost it? You would be in the same boat - you would lose your photos.
So, two things:
Are you sure your phone isn't just completing the update? Have you let it do it's thing for 20 or 30 minutes? If not, leave it alone and see if it is in the same condition in 30 minutes.
If you have, then determine if you have those photos in your Photo Stream. If you do, then they should still be there when you restore your device and sign back onto iCloud.

What version of the iPod touch do you have? iOS 7 only works with 5th Generation.
The Apple servers are slammed right now with iOS 7 downloads AND activation requests.
Be patient and try again later. -
why is it when i download the software update for iphone an error pops out when downloading is finish and processing file is being done...i've already tried several time but still the same result.
Disasble the computer's security software during the download and update.

I Tried for three days to download iOS 6 and kept getting error 1403. I finally went to the apple store and they couldn't figure it out either.
I finally got it to download and all I did different from the other 100 times was I went into settings and on the Bluetooth setting I put NO. Not sure if that's what did it but that was the only thing different that I did. -

You update via your computer's iTunes, the Settings > General > Software Update option only appears when you have iOS 5+ installed.
Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases on iTunes 11). You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
Then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes (on iTunes 11 you can enable the left-hand sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC), and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button

If you mean in Dock then you have moved the Safari application or the application is missing as in deleted.

Because that is how all iOS upgrades are done. The device must first be erased. If you don't like the inconvenience then you are free to do nothing or continue to complain about it. It's your choice.

So I bought a Powerbook G4 from a pawn shop and yes, I did check to see if it was still good. everything works fine but I need an update because I have OS X 10.3. So I connect to the internet and then I click on ''Software Update'' and I wait. But then a message opens saying ''An error occurred while checking for updates'' And I don't know why. HELP!!!
Something temporarily wrong with your internet connection?
Be aware that this is a very large file to download, it needs a strong consistent internet connection.
Have the iPhone on the charger cable too.
In the meantime read the threads in this forum about the visibility item and some other possible issues on the 4 and 4S (although a large number of people have these issues, it is still a minor percentage, but anyhow, be aware). -
When I'm restore my iphone 4 ios 6.1.3 itunes showed an error you iphone can not be restore at this time because the software update server is not contacted or temporary unavailable.
Probably because the phone was hacked to unlock it. The update has re-locked it. You'll have to contact the carrier it's locked to and see if they will unlock it for you.
