  • BIOS/OS won't see 3rd HDD as non-RAID!

    This is driving me bananas.
    Mobo: P35 Platinum
    CPU: Dual Core E6600
    RAM: 2GB
    HDDs:
    2x400GB (RAID0)
    1x250GB
    Windows Vista 32
    BIOS: AMI v1.8
My problem is that since I set the BIOS to RAID, it won't see the 3rd drive (250GB) as non-RAID. Intel Storage Matrix also sees it as a RAID drive that is not working properly. Can someone please tell me how to make this stop? Thanks

unfortunately this is an issue wth all intel chipsets.  Once RAID is enabled, it is enabled to all ports.  Athough some same a seperate channel that is run through the JMicron chipset and are usually just 2 ports and they would be different colored on the motherboard.  If you have two off colored ports then put the single drive on those ports and the raid on the others.  This has been an issue for quite some time now and think Intel has finally changed it on the X38 boards now that SATA optical drives are in cheap abundance.
als, setting the third drive to a single raid trick won't work on intel boards like it does with nvidia.  Intel wants two drives or more in the array or it won't work.
You may need to pick up a cheap SATA controller card.  I bought a couple already and they were under $15.  They even have PCI-E X1 cards out now and they work for me just fine.
    good luck

ps.. I just looked up your board and it seems to have a 5th sata port that is light blue and offset from the other 4 purple main sata connectors.  Try the single drive on it, I'm sure it's designed for optical drives, but should work with your hard drive, well that is if you don't already have an optical already plugged in.
psss.. I just found this info on the board.
    • SATAII controller integrated in ICH9R and Marvell® 88SE6111 chipest
    - Up to 300MB/sec transfer speed.
    - Supports four SATAII ports and two eSATA ports by ICH9R.
    - Supports AHCI controller with SATA RAID 0/1/5/10.
    - Supports one SATAII port by 88SE6111.
So it runs through a Marvell chipset.  I didn't know they even made an SATA chip.  all I ever see was NIC chipsets.

  • P67A-G45 Raid on 2 disks plus non-raid on 3rd disk?

I have 2 HDDs I want to run in raid 0 and a 3rd SSD I want to run in non-raid.  Is this possible on this mobo?  If it is, how do I set up the BIOS because it seems to only let you choose one or the other.  My previous board, Asus M4a78-e would let you set ports 1-4 to raid and port 5 to IDE.
One other question.  I have a IDE dvd writer, is the only way to use this by using an ide to sata adapter?

I don't trust those adapters like that. Better to simply buy a new DVD/CD combo drive for $20.
This is the one I bought at newegg:

We are fellow users, we won't know why. You've checked the spam folder as well as the inbox on your email account, and if you have a rescue email address on your account then you've checked that email account as well ? If you still can't find it then try requesting the reset email again
If re-requesting it doesn't get it either then try contacting Support in your country, they should be able to reset it for you.

  • Computers can't see the disk connected to my Aiport Extreme

    Hi everyone,
I have an Airport Extreme with version 7.3.2 and I just attached a Western Digital external hard drive to the usb port in the back of the router; however, none of my computers can see the disk in the network screen nor the airport router itself. Does anyone know how I can fix this so that I can share the disk with all of my computers?
This is how my network is set up:
I have six computers connected to a Linksys WRT310N wireless router (some with ethernet cables, others wireless). Then, I have the Airport Extreme, in bridge mode, connected to the Linksys router by an ethernet cable. And the external disk is attached to the Airport Extreme.
It sounds complicated, but I talked to an Apple "Genius" a while back and he told me that only Mac computers are able to see the disk through the Time Machine program. That hardly seems right or fair to me.
    Thanks for your help!

On July 15, 2008 someone posted this: "On my air port extreme I have a 160 Gb hard drive connected to the usb. And suddenly it cant find it on my desktop. But when I go to my lap top it finds it just like that. Im runnin the airport 10/100 ethernet to my desktop and 802.11 n/g on my lap top. I tried resetting..."
This is identical to my problem, the hard disk that is connected to the Airport Extreme shows up on the old iBook but not on the MacBook Pro. Both are running OS 10.4.11. It worked fine when it was connected directly to the MacBook Pro and contains the same files it held then.
    Can anyone answer this problem?

7.1 update to IPad now unable to use FaceTime and iMessage says could not sign in check your network connection.  Why am I seeing this when I am connected?

Check Settings>General>Date & Time>Set Automatically>On. Make sure that the time zone setting is also set correctly.
If that didn't solve the problem, restart your iPad and try again. If that fails, reset your iPad and try again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Why did Adobe see fit to eliminate, "Print Without Color Mangement"?

Why did Adobe see fit to eliminate, "Print Without Color Mangement", and when are they going to restore it? None of their workarounds is really adequate when printing through a rip. Prior to CS5 it was all so simple. Now, I keep CS4 onboard just for printing. Is there actually a good rationale for the elimination of such a useful function?

Adobe was forced to remove the NCA mode because the current OS X Mac print pipeline and print drivers quit supporting it. Photoshop CS5 & 6 and LR 3 & 4 can't send unmanaged data to the Mac pipeline; it'es either application managed color or printer managed color and iehter case, the data gets modified by the pipeline–which means the current apps can't send data with NCM.
The printer utility can do a workaround to do so.
Note, this isn't yet an issue on Windows but for cross platform uniformity, it was removed there as well. So, if you want to yell at somebody, go yell at Apple...
And no, it ain't coming back...

  • HT201317 why cant i see my photos

why cant i see my photos when i log onto my icloud account on my pc

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Photostream only syncs photos over Wi-Fi, make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi to begin with.
Photostream only syncs when the camera app is closed, ensure it is closed.
Photostream only syncs when the battery is above 20%, try recharging the device
Try disabling photo stream on your device (settings > iCloud), restarting your device and then re-enabling photo stream.
If this doesn't help you may need to reset photo stream. You can do this at icloud.com by clicking on your name in the top right corner and then the advanced settings in the pop-up dialogue box that appears.
Note: disabling photostream and re-enabling it will result in any photos that are currently in the photostream album on your device, that are older than 30 days old, not being added back.

  • Unable to see Member disk in ASM

    Hi all
I am having standalone(NON-RAC) box with Linux AS3 (Kernel Ver. 2.4.21.4) and oracle 10G installed on it. It is having one database as ORCL. Now i wants to configure ASM on it. For that I did the following activities.
    mkdir -p /u03
    mkdir -p /u03/asmdisks
    dd if=/dev/zero of=/u03/asmdisks/disk0 bs=1024k number=100
    dd if=/dev/zero of=/u03/asmdisks/disk1 bs=1024k number=100
    dd if=/dev/zero of=/u03/asmdisks/disk2 bs=1024k number=100
    dd if=/dev/zero of=/u03/asmdisks/disk3 bs=1024k number=100
    chown -R oracle:oinstall /u03
    chmod -R 777 /u03
Then i chose to create the database through DBCA. Where i gave database Sid as ASM and selected AUTOMATIC STORAGE MANAGEMENT for the storage. In the parameter of asm instance i set the parameter asm_diskstring as */u03/asmdisks/*'
ASM Instance gets started with this as when i do "ps -aux | grep +asm" then it shows the ASM processes.
Now when i create the diskgroup as DGROUP1 with normal redundancy, I am not able to see member disks which i have defined in ASM instance parameter "asm_diskstring".
Is there any need to install ASM libraries on OS or any special service should be started on the OS?
Kindly Help as i am struckup in this past 5 days.

Two issues come to mind. Invallid discovery string - which means that ASM fails to see the raw disks. Or incorrectly configured raw disks.
My guess is the latter. Those "devices" that you configured as ASM devices do not sound valid. They have to be dinkum raw devices - they cannot be binary files on a cooked file system. Unless I'm mistaken? (I cannot recall seeing any cooked files as ASM devices option when I did a couple of ASM installs)
Okay, not close to my Linux boxes to check so the following is frrom memory. The last ASM install I did on Redhat was to create an actual raw device use an unformatted partition (e.g. /dev/sdb1) using the raw device Linux command. A file called /etc/sysconfig/rawdevices was created. At boot time the raw devices are mounted in /dev/raw something or another. These devices are then chmod'ed so that the oracle o/s user can access them.
The ASM discovery string is then set to /dev/raw whatever to pick up these raw devices.

  • When I select an image, why do I see a grey warning triangle and black screen?

When I select an image, why do I see a grey warning triangle on a black screen?  I can see the image in the Event review, but it won't let me see it independently.

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • OVS not seeing SAN disk (Netapp)

I have setup Oracle Virtual Mananger v3.1.1 on Oracle Linux with Oracle 11g standard. I have then created two OVS servers (HP DL380 G6) v3.0.3. I then discovered them ok on the OVM. I have created two SAN disks on our Netapp and presented them to both servers over fibre. I was able to see both disks from both servers, setup the server pool, add both servers in a cluster and then create a VM on one of them. So all ok so far.... Next I reboot one of the servers and it struggles to get back into the cluster. I can see that they are not picking up the SAN disks for ages after the reboot, in which case it cannot join the cluster. If I ssh onto the server and look in /dev/mapper the only file there is control. On the server that hasn't been rebooted for ages I can see both SAN disks. If I do service ovs-agent restart a number of times it then adds one of the SAN disks in but by then I cannot connect to the cluster. I have tried all sorts of things looking on forums. Can someone please help me please before I start from scratch and recable using NFS presented storage and try again. Has anyone else had this?

Hi, thanks for your input. At the moment one of the drives has come back (poolfsmnt) but not the storage mount. I have ran the fdisk -l and the results are below... I do have multiple paths but I only put the second fibre cable in each ovs due to the problem I was having, and that made no difference.
The disks I have created are a 100gb for the pool and 1tb for the storage...
