Why an infocube is limited to only 16 dimensions ?

Hi,
Could any one please tell me , why an infocube is limited to only 16 dimensions ?
I know that we can only have 16 dimension all together for an infocube, but I want to know
What made SAP to limit the number to 16 ?
IS there any proper reason behind this concept ?
Thanx in advance,
Rekha

Hello Rekha,
The combination of all dimension id's ideally make the primary(composite) key of the fact table.
it seems that there is a database restriction of 16 fields to be combined to make a joint primary key.
This probably is the reason for the same.
Hope it helps..

  • Why is exposure compensation limited to +-4EV

I ran a quick test to determine whether exposure compensation worked better in the D7000 or in Lightroom. I started by taking one picture at ISO 1600 correctly exposed. I then reduced the ISO by half for the next 4 pictures ending with 100. I then loaded the pictures into LR 3.3 and adjusted the exposures of the pictures by 1, 2, 3 and 4 EV so they all ended up the same. If Lightroom was more efficient at exposure compensation the ISO 100 picture should be best. If the in-camera compensation is best the ISO 1600 should be best.
The first surprise was that the LR exposure compensation is limited to +-4EV.
The other surprise was that the ISO 100, 200, 400 and 800 pictures were indistiguishable. The ISO 1600 picture was the only one that looked different with both exposure and color being slightly off.
My tentative conclusion is that between ISO 100 and 800 LR and the in-camera are pretty much identical. At ISO 1600 (+4EV) LR is better, but that's a terribly narrow margin. You need 1-2 EV headroom to make adjustments.
I had hoped LR would have given mt a wider margin and, as it appears it would, superior compensation to the one implemented in the camera.
Yes, Yes, Yes, I know that it's probaably ACR doing it, but still!

When shooting in Camera RAW format you are retaining the full Analog to Digital (A/D) resolution, which today is 14 bits, or even 16 bits color depth (48 bits). When shooting JPEG the camera file output is limited to 8 bit color depth (24 bits). So even for 14 bit camera A/D converters we have:
This is not correct. jpeg files are gamma corrected while raw is a linear capture. Theoretically, a 8-bit jpeg in sRGB space can contain as much dynamic range as a raw file of any bit depth because of the tone curve. It breaks up quicker when you edit jpegs because you will start seeing posterization earlier because of the lower bit precision but the dynamic range is there to start with.
Jao xDL I appreciate the additional information and links you have provided, but it is probably more information (and some misinformation) than most of us can digest in one reading. Yes sRGB tone curve helps to "compress" a wider dynamic range" signal into the 24 bit JPEG space, but it still only contains 24 bits of information! My point is that when opening a Camera RAW file in LR we can use the camera's full A/D dynamic range for recovery of signal "beyond 24 bit JPEG." Today that is typically 14 bits or even 16 bits per color (42-48 bits), with even the cheapest cameras using 12 bit A/D. If JPEG has the same ability, then why are we capturing and using "larger" RAW files?
    You also say:
At a fixed exposure, you actually will want to raise the ISO as far as you can to make sure you don't posterize shadow detail in the very deep shadows because of limited bit precision left over and to minimize the read noise contribution.
People use their expensive (and inexpensive) camera gear to shoot pictures, NOT run laboratory experiments! I don't want to change my ISO setting to get the best shadow details or use Auto ISO, except for very specific shooting situations. You are parsing technical semantics, gone way beyond the original question, and are now incorrectly restating what I already said:
The bottom line is that “best practice” is to expose for the maximum highlight value, even clipping highlights when you want to retain maximum noise-free shadow detail.
This is best left to use of 'Exposure Compensation' or 'Manual Exposure' settings, and review of image histogram on your camera. Just be aware that most camera histograms are a processed 24-bit sRGB JPEG representation. Your RAW file output will actually have significantly more "highlight" range than indicated! Do a Google search on ‘Rawnalyze.’ The author has sadly passed on, but you may be able to find a posted copy of the program.
The poster asked, "Why is LR Exposure limited to only ±4 EV." You can use the Tone Curve to increase the range as suggested by Lee Jay, but then you lose the other features it provides. In light of all the technical information everyone has presented, raising the Exposure range would be very useful.

  • Why is my CS5.5 Design Premium upgrade limited to only one computer?

When I purchased Creaive Suite 5.0 Design Premium in 2010, I was allowed to have it on two computers. In January of this year, I upgraded to Creative Suite 5.5 Design Premium because I bought a new computer.
Why am I not allowed to have the upgrade on two computers?

I deactivated the product on my old computer in order to activate it on the
new. But when I went to install (set up) the upgrade on my second computer,
I was told that, althought the serial number is valid, "a qualifying
product cannot be found on this computer".
Maybe that is because I deleted to old product (CS5.0) in order to make way
for the new? (Before I did the delete I was told that there was not enough
memory on the computer to accomodate the new CS5.5.)

  • Limitation that only 1000 records can be included in the "IN" clause

In RapidSQL we have a limitation that only 1000 records can be included in the "IN" clause - is there a way to give more than 1000 records so that it will reduce the execution time.

Why do you need to list more than 1000 individual items in the first place? That's generally not a good way to go about building a query.
You can always include a query that returns as many rows as you'd like in an IN clause, i.e.
    SELECT *
      FROM some_table
WHERE some_column IN (SELECT some_column FROM some_other_table)So if you throw the thousands of values you want in the IN list into a table, you could then query the table in your IN clause.
From a performance standpoint, of course, you may also want to look at the EXISTS clause depending on the relative data volumes involved.

  • Why OS X is limited to FAT16

I tried to format an SD card for a camera with OS X and it seemed to be fine until the card was used in a camera. The camera can only read FAT32 partitions. Why is OS X limited to FAT partitions? Does Microsoft have control over FAT32? The limitations with FAT is a max of 4GB partitions. It's just inconvenient having to format SD and CF cards in the camera or within Windoze. Am I doing something wrong and there is actually a FAT32 partition within DIsk Utility? So far I haven't seen any evidence that the Disk Utility goes beyond FAT (FAT16).

Disk Utility framework is capable of any msdos fat format, but unfortunately, the GUI version
doesn't give you many choices, and what it decides should be the right format can be wrong.
This, of course, leaves you little choice but to use the command line (Terminal.app) to do it, or
purchase a third party Disk Partitioning Utility, such as iPartition.
There is a third option, use windows to do it, if you have boot camp installed or a virtual machine
    client (Parallels, Fusion, etc.).
The Terminal command format is as follows:
    diskutil partitionDisk <device> 1 MBRFormat "MS-DOS FAT32" <volume_name> <partition_size>
    where:
<device> = BSD name of source disk, example: /dev/disk4 or
    volume mount point, example: /Volumes/SD
<volume_name> = whatever you want to call it!
If you use spaces, enclose the name in quotes.
    example: SD or "My SD"
<partition_size> = floating point numbers followed by a
    letter or percent sign
    Examples: 1G (1 gigabyte), 1000K (1000 KILOBYTES), 5.5M (5.5 megabytes),
25.4% (25.4 percent of whole disk size).
    example:
    diskutil partitionDisk /Volumes/SD 1 MBRFormat "MS-DOS FAT32" "My SD" 100%
    partitionDisk device [numberOfPartitions] [[APM]Format | [MBR]Format |
    [GPT]Format] [part1Format part1Name part1Size part2Format
    part2Name part2Size part3Format part3Name part3Size ...]
    in terminal run command:
    man diskutil

  • When importing RAW files in Photoshop why does camera raw 8.6 only import 1 size?

When importing RAW files in Photoshop why does camera raw 8.6 only import 1 size from canon 5d mark iii, in older versions I used to be able to import the files as larger images. It use to have a number of options for the images size. The option now is smaller than the maximum size used to be.

You know what - I'm sorry
I'd had a crazy long all-nighter session sorting out images for a client, then decided - when I should have simply gone to bed - to set up the new photoshop. At the very start I made a silly mistake, tried to sort it out then decided to call it a day, responding to your remarks with the problem still in my head but feeling more and more tired.
Responded again to your comment earlier with the problem still in my head but not in front of me on the screen - however with a fresh head I just turned it all on, opened up PS and today could instantly see what was going on - Oops!
Thank you for being patient with a sleep deprived photographer who must have been getting annoying yesterday

  • Why Does Premiere Pro CS4 Import Only 10 Seconds Of Layered Photoshop CS4 .psd??

Why Does Premiere Pro CS4 Import Only 10 Seconds Of Layered Photoshop CS4 .psd??
I have a 24 second clip I layered in Ps and when I import the psd into Pr THE SEQUENCE IS ALWAYS ONLY 10 SECONDS!
How can I change this?  Why does this happen?  I really need to know as soon as possible.  I have a video project due this Wednesday (granted it's for an AV class where I'm just learning Pr.  But I can learn VERY FAST!)
    Thanks for your help.
    --OSXniCKels

Just in case I wasn't clear in my last line "just Click-drag on the Tail of your .PSD to set the desired Duration," once you have Imported your .PSD (as Footage), just drag it to the Timeline, Click-drag on the right-hand margin (the Tail) and stretch out its Duration, as is required.
Now, if you Imported as a Sequence, open that Sequence's Timeline, and do the same.
I normally will set my Edit>Preferences>Still Duration to about what I think will be applicable, do my Import, and then with the Info Panel handy, just alter the Duration to suit.
    Good luck,

  • Why 11gR2 scan have limited maximum to 3 ips

    Hi,
I am not able to get the answer that why 11gR2 SCAN has limitation to have min 1 and max 3 virtual IPs. As it's not dependent on number of nodes in ths cluster, any idea what's the logic behind it .

    Hi Rajeysh,
Thanks for sharing such a valuable link, but still i did not get my answer why scan VIP it limited to max. 3. Why not it 4,5,6 or some other number ? why it is 3 ?Why not do the same question differently.
The Clusterware need more than 3 SCAN IP to provide high availability and load balancing? If you understand the concept and role of SCAN I believe you will know the right answer.
For all SCAN Listener going down is necessary to fails the three nodes where are registered SCAN Listener at the same time. Even if this happens, the CRS should take less than one minute to register the the SCAN Listener on the nodes that remain active. (SCAN is a small piece of a large system that is already prepared for failures)
Remember that SCAN IP does not establish connections with Oracle RAC, but manages and redirects connections to the nodes of the cluster. The connections are established using the Virtual IP (VIP). This means that if you stop all SCAN Listener/IP all connections that are already established are not affected, because they are using the VIP.
Oracle version 11.2 use up to three IP, because the engineering team studied and understood that to ensure high availability and load balance is necessary 3 SCAN IP. (just it)
It may be that this will change in the future but for now understand that 3 is enough to guarantee Grid Computing.
We could ask another question, how many DNS servers (cluster / failover) you have in your environment to provide HA. If your answer is up to three nodes, what happens if the three DNS servers fail at the same time as it is a point of failure (SCAN/VIP works with DNS).
This type of question leads us to Grid Computing.
One way to think about grid computing is as the virtualization and pooling of IT resources—compute power, storage, network capacity, and so on—into a single set of shared services that can be provisioned or distributed, and then redistributed as needed.
Just as an electric utility uses a grid to deal with wide variations in power demands without affecting customer service levels, grid computing provides IT resources with levels of control and adaptability that are transparent to end users, but that let IT professionals respond quickly to changing computing workloads.
The entire infrastructure must be prepared to support failure. If your environment is designed to support multiple types of failures you will see that IP Scan 3 is enough.

Why is the Beats Music app only available on the 3rd Gen Apple TV? This is very irritating.

Apple TV 2 has reached the end of it's iOS updates. there really won't be any more and the focus will be mainly on the Apple TV 3.
You can sell the ATV2  for a few hundred dollars on eBay because the ATV2 is special in a way that I can't mention here. Use the money to buy an ATV3.
I am in no hurry to do so myself and will continue using my ATV2 for some time.

May be you have turned the DO NO DISTURB in your iphone settings.
    Check as below DND settings
    Settings>>Do Not Disturb
If you are iPhone is on version iOS 5.X there was a bug which does not let the DO NOT DISTURB function properly.
SO, its better you to latest iOS version 7.0.4, no other versions of iOS are signed by APPLE hence forth.

  • Why doesn't "Elements 10 Editor only" allow the use of Nik Software plug ins??

I was very excited yesterday when I noticed in the Apple App store that a version of Elements called "Elements 10 Editor only" was for sale.  Since I never use the Organizer this is perfect for me.  Unfortunately, it will not allow Nik software plugins to be installed.   There is no "plugins folder" included.  In every other way the "Elements 10 Editor only" version is wonderful.  Loads fast, runs clean and fast and is just a wonderful product, and something I've been hoping would come along for years.  I can't believe Adobe didn't allow for the use of plug-ins.  Looks like I just wasted $80.
Any suggestions or work-arounds to allow plug ins to be used?

Thank you, Barbara! I spent considerable time today on the phone with Nik Software.  Both Viveza and Color Efex will work on the full version of Elements 10.  NOT on the version "Elements 10 EDITOR ONLY".  The reason is because Adobe did not include a plug in folder when they released Elements 10 EDITOR ONLY.  Thanks, Barbara for the screen shot..however, the Editor only version has no folders at all!!!  It's really strange.  Why would Adobe release an Editor Only version of Elements that doesn't work with plug ins?  I allowed Nik Software techs remote access to my Mac, and while version 9 has the same folder breakdown you provided, this Editor Only version of 10 has nothing except the application icon!  You have been wonderfully helpful as usual, Barbara, thank you very much.  It looks, though that I just wasted $80.  Oh well, back to PSE9 !
Here's an update....using your method..I was able to find a folder for plug-ins within the program file.  Used it to try and install Viveza and Color Efex, but Adobe says it "does not accept that type of file".

Why has the Tecra M11-11M only got the 32-bit version of windows 7 and not the 64-bit?
Surely the i7 and 4gb can cope with the demands and the 64-bit version would allow more efficient use of the computing power.
    Many thanks,

Good question but Im afraid only Toshiba marketing division has right answer to your question.
I just presume they create own decision based on market research.
You can try to install own 64bit version if the drivers, tools and utilities are available.
