Why apps don't need to be granted for synonyms of packages and procedures?

Normally, When a user create a synonym of other schemas' package or procedure, it requires to be authorized to execute via 'grant' by owner before the user can call it.
But on one of our environment of EBS 12.1.1(vis), apps user don't need to be granted. Just need to make synonym and then can call the synonym. while on another environment of EBS 12.1.1(product), it still need to be granted. I notice that apps user in the two diffierent environment has many different database roles. Is any role associated with this? Does anybody know the reason?
Thanks in advance!

  • Please explain why i don't need virus software

    I'm new to this MAC thing (used Windows since Windows 2 and finally got fed up with MSFT - I can prove it as a significant contributor to my accelerated loss of hair)......and I've always spent $180+ each year to protect 3 computers with anti-virus, web security software. Why don't I need it with a MAc. hey...I'm not complaining...don't get me wrong...I'm just not clear as to why I don't need it, and at the same time would like to protect the investment we just made by converting the whole house to Apple (2 Macs, 1 Macbook Pro, 1 AirPort). Thanks

    It's very simple, two-part answer, IMHO.
    First, there simply aren't any Mac viruses. None. Anyone who claims that there are is doing one of several things: 1) lying, 2) confusing viruses with less dangerous kinds of malware, or 3) talking about ancient Mac viruses from a decade or more ago that cannot possibly affect any modern Mac.
    Second, there are a very small handful of Mac trojans. (If you aren't familiar with the terminology, a trojan is a malicious application that fools you into installing and running it by pretending to be something that people with limited judgement would want, like illegal "free" copies of commercial software or "video plug-ins" for viewing supposed video on p0rn sites.) However, Snow Leopard includes protection against those trojans as part of its quarantine function. If you've ever seen the "This application was downloaded, do you want to open it?" message, that's the quarantine. If the application were a trojan, you'd get a message warning you that opening it would damage your computer.
    It's important to note that some applications may bypass quarantine, such as some torrent software, giving trojans a back door to sneak through. For this reason, among others, I would recommend against ever running torrent software. As long as everything you download goes through quarantine, though, you should be safe without AV software.

  • Ever wonder why carriers don't send text usage alerts for your minutes?

    Ever wonder why carriers don't send text usage alerts for your minutes? They do it for data but not minutes.

    I don't know about anyone else but I check my usage almost every day. If you're with AT&T you can download the "my AT&T" app that will allow you to check your minutes and data usage. You can also send a free text to *MIN# and *DATA#, and you will get a free text back telling you how many minutes and how much data you've used (as someone else has already said). I'm sure Verizon has a comparable service. These days I'm checking more for my data usage than minute usage, as I have a considerable amount of rollover minutes built up with AT&T. I'm on wifi most of the time but I still like to keep track of the data, just to be sure I'm not going over.

    There is no featured tab in my iTunes store. . . and everywhere it shows me signed in. I had downloaded an app for my mother on HER ipad, and that is the only app I have done for her. It shows up on my phone, and now I cannot update any of my apps. I uninstalled that app on my phone, but when I want to update ones I have installed on my phone with my appleid, she keeps showing up.

    Let it alone. No one can tell how long it will take as that is a function of your data.

    The old rule of thumb was to keep 10-12 GB free. Any lower than that and you will start to have trouble. I was very close to that for a long time and never had any complaints. Now, Lion "encourages" 20% free space (on my newer 250 GB drive) so I try to keep it with more than 50 GB free.
    Do you still have the original memory in that machine too? The metal plate you have to remove in the battery compartment also provides access to the RAM. Your machine will take 2 GB of RAM, possibly 3. You definitely want to max that out too.
    Regardless, you definitely need a new hard drive. When Apple switched to PC components, they had to take a quality hit. These 2.5" notebook hard drives are not very reliable. I'm surprised your hard drive hasn't died by now. I usually get a new hard drive with every major OS upgrade. A $ 50 investment every couple of years is no big deal.
    Unfortunately, you (and I) suffer from being an early adopter in 2006. Those 32-bit machines only accept 2 GB RAM (maybe 3) and are only 32-bit so they can't be upgraded to Lion. Because of this limitation, you won't see as dramatic an improvement as you would with a 2007 machine. If you run more than a couple of applications, your hard drive is always going to have to be doing some VM work. My 2006 machine has even lost its bluetooth. I gave it to my brother. My very similar 2007 Macbook is still running great.
    So, you must get a new hard drive because your old one is likely on death's door. If you don't have at least 2 GB - get it. If you can't afford a new machine, you might want to consider an SSD. That might help mitigate your RAM limitations. You can spend from $ 100 to $ 350 and get a dramatic speed improvement.

    Why Apple don't fix half year serious problem with HD3000 drivers, Lion and Adobe products? Doesn't Apple really care about advanced users?
    I have Mac mini and Macbook Pro 13". Bouth with HD3000. And I can't work at all. With Snow Lepard I had no problems. It's tiny problem in code. And such pain for lots of users!

    If you have a problem with Adobe products, voice your issues with them.

  • Why CBO don't use function-base index when I use like and bind variable

    Hello
    I have litle problem with function-base index and like with bind variable.
    When I use like with bind variable, the CBO don't use my function-base index.
    For example when I create table and index:
    ALTER SESSION SET NLS_SORT='BINARY_CI';
    ALTER SESSION SET NLS_COMP='LINGUISTIC';
    alter session set nls_language='ENGLISH';
    -- DROP TABLE TEST1;
    CREATE TABLE TEST1 (K1 VARCHAR2(32));
    create index test1_idx on test1(nlssort(K1,'nls_sort=BINARY_CI'));
    INSERT INTO TEST1
    SELECT OBJECT_NAME FROM ALL_OBJECTS;
    COMMIT;
    When I run:
    ALTER SESSION SET NLS_SORT='BINARY_CI';
    ALTER SESSION SET NLS_COMP='LINGUISTIC';
    SELECT * FROM TEST1 WHERE K1 = 'abcd';
    or
    SELECT * FROM TEST1 WHERE K1 LIKE 'abcd%';
    CBO use index.
    PLAN_TABLE_OUTPUT
    SQL_ID 4vrmp7cshbvqy, child number 1
    SELECT * FROM TEST1 WHERE K1 LIKE 'abcd%'
    Plan hash value: 1885706448
    | Id | Operation | Name | Rows | Bytes | Cost (%CPU)| Time |
    | 0 | SELECT STATEMENT | | | | 1 (100)| |
    | 1 | TABLE ACCESS BY INDEX ROWID| TEST1 | 2 | 98 | 1 (0)| 00:00:01 |
    |* 2 | INDEX RANGE SCAN | TEST1_IDX | 2 | | 1 (0)| 00:00:01 |
    Predicate Information (identified by operation id):
    2 - access("TEST1"."SYS_NC00002$">=HEXTORAW('6162636400') AND
    "TEST1"."SYS_NC00002$"<HEXTORAW('6162636500') )
    but when I run
    SELECT * FROM TEST1 WHERE K1 LIKE :1;
    CBO don't use index
    PLAN_TABLE_OUTPUT
    SQL_ID 9t461s1669gru, child number 0

    Predicate Information (identified by operation id):
    1 - filter("K1" LIKE :1)
    What should I change to force CBO to use index.
    I don't wont use index hint in query.
    My oracle version:
    Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production
    PL/SQL Release 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
    CORE     11.2.0.1.0     Production
    TNS for 64-bit Windows: Version 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 11.2.0.1.0 - Production

    OK. But why if I create normal index (create index test1_idx on test1(K1)) and return to default nls settings this same query use index.

  • HT1665 I need a charge cord for my iphone 5 and no one in Colorado has one! Where can I get one today?

    Where can I get a charge cord for my Iphone 5 in Colorado?

    They are free at Corporate Verizon stores; retailers usually charge for them.  You also can call Customer Service and have them send you one.
    And you don't need a SIM card to activate an iPhone 4S on VzW's network.

  • Problems with upgrading my iphone to v6 - I am not happy!  It deleted all of my apps, so I had to reload them.  Now many of the apps do not work - they keep asking for my apple ID and PW but then never open.

    I kept getting reminders to update my iphone to v6, so I did so and I am not happy!  It deleted all of my apps, so then I had to reload them.  Now many of the apps do not work - when I try to open them they keep asking for my apple ID and PW and when I enter this it just goes away and never opens.  Anyone else had this issue?

    Happened to me once awhile back. The exact same thing. What I did to get everything working again was open up itunes on PC and click on "Apps" section (not the one in your iphone section, but the one in the "Libraries" section near the top). Then proceed to totally delete all of the apps that aren't working (if it asks if you want to send to recycle bin click yes). Re-sync phone, which will remove them from the phone. And, finally, re-install them. It was a pain, but the only thing that worked. Hope it works for you. Good luck!

  • I need a zoom lens for shooting sports morning and night

    I need someone to help me selecting a telephoto zoom that will help me to get sharp zoom images for football matches morning and night time. I have a Canon 50 D and normal Canon 55-250 IS zoom also I have Canon EF 50  f/1.8 II lens in addition to Canon EFS 18-55 lens.
    I am not a professional photographer and would like to get one with a reasonable price

    Because you will be shooting sports with a fast shutter speed to freeze the action, Image Stabilization is really not needed.
    Using 2.8 instead of 4.0 will double your shutter speed from 1/250 to 1/500.
    Buying used lenses can keep the price lower and the cheapest f/2.8 lenses are:
    Sigma 50-150mm 2.8   $500 Used Sigma 50-150
    Sigma 70-200mm 2.8   $512 Sigma 70-200 2.8
    Canon 70-200mm 2.8   $1000 Canon 70-200 2.8 (non-IS)

  • Do you need a sim card for the iPad 3G and when I try to download something from the app store my screen has a black box appear is that normal and why is this happening?

    My app store does not let me download things , when I sghn in a black box appers , also does a iPad 1 3G need a sim card to download apps ?

    You posted in the iPod Shuffle forum; it might be best to post in the iPad forum, as I was a bit confused at first. Anyway,
    It doesn't need a SIM to download apps if you have Wi-Fi. Can you describe this box a little more, or better yet, screenshot it?
    Taking a Screenshot:
    Quickly press then release the home and power buttons at the same time.
    Get the photo on your computer and upload it here.
    If you don't want to do this, can you describe it a little more? When you say "black box," I'm guessing it's an outlined box that appears around any item that you tap on. Is this correct? If so, it sounds like VoiceOver was enabled. See:
    Turning VoiceOver On or Off

    Is there a serious reason for shuting down the apps section in Spotify. I am sad because I have to sign up to third party tools to do easy things like shaking a new playlist or some other easy stuff like that. Will apps be back later this year or is the apps section not alive anymore?
