Why are acrobat updates not delivered via creative cloud?

Can anyone enlighten me as to why Acrobat updates such as the May 13 security update are not delivered via the Creative Cloud application? My CC app says my installation is up to date yet I keep getting a pop up in my Win 7 notification area from a separate acrobat updater app that wants to install an update. This is potentially confusing for users. In fact, it makes no sense at all. Why not have the installation files and the updates delivered through one interface. Or at least show the app needs updating in the CC app.
Overall, I find this disappointing and not very well thought out by Adobe. I won't even start on all the CC installation problems people are having.

Hi CJ E,
Acrobat updater technology is different to that of Creative Cloud.
Our engineering team are working to integrate the updates along with CC App in the near future.

  • Update is taken via creative cloud

    Hello,
There was a pending update that I had not done. When I took the update it installed the creative cloud, then I was asked to login and then I was able to take the update for that software.
I have not signed in for any creative cloud membership. Then why are the updates been taken via creative cloud.
I am confused. Will all the update be taken via creative cloud. What abou the update manager, will it no longer exists.
    Kindly suggest.
    Thanks.

    HI Swajeet,
if you have a Perpetual License for the Software then Creative Cloud Desktop App will only install lthe Perpetual Software Updates not the cloud ones. All the future upates will get installed using Creative Cloud Desktop Apps.

  • Newly installed Acrobat will NOT open from Creative Cloud app on Desktop using Windows 7 Pro - what's the problem?

Newly installed Acrobat will NOT open from Creative Cloud app on Desktop using Windows 7 Pro - what's the problem?

the cc desktop app is used to install and update cc programs (and a few other thinigs).  but that does not include 'opening' the installed programs.
click your start button or your program files directory to find the acrobat executable to launch acrobat (and any of your other apps, adobe or otherwise).

  • Update Photoshop CC6 via Creative Cloud - errors - PS settings not updated - updates not done

I have now tried for hours to update the Photoshop CC6 version via Creative Cloud application and it fails permanently.
At the beginning both applications (Bridge and Photoshop) failed (error U44M1|210). Installing the manual patches and Camera Raw 8 manually helped in the case of Bridge and Photoshop (partially).
Now there are 2 more elements which are not updated and fail
    a) CSXS Extensions 4.0.2 update.
    b) Dynamic Link Media Server - Update 7...
With this strange issue I got another strange behaviour of Photoshop.
I cannot update my settings in Photoshop and even not doing so, it shows - as soon as I close the program - the following message (Sorry, in German):
It looks like the program cannot save any "setting" files on my machine (MacMini, OS 10.9, 16GB) and tells me always that I would not have any permission to write on the file. Which file????? If I would know which file I could at least change the permission settings there. Does anyone know which file in which folder need to be changed?
    Thanks
    Marc-Oliver

  • Why is Acrobat XI not Included in Creative Suite CS6?

Our company has just purchased Creative Suite CS6, eLearning Suite CS6, & multiple copies of the Technical Communications Suite V4 (just released). None of these expensive packages include the new Acrobat XI, not even the Std version. In addition, PhotoShop has been removed from TCS V4, where it belongs. I see this as a callous marketing policy by Adobe to force companies to buy multiple product suites, or at least extra (expensive) essential programs (or be stuck with legacy programs). Even the so-called Master Suite CS6 does not include items in TCS. When you add the incredible cost of EU versions of Adobe products wrt to US prices, it is no wonder that customers are moving away from Adobe, or at least not upgrading as often as they used to.

    Good day gzhtub,
Acrobat XI was announced today, but still hasn't shipped.  The ship date is still a few weeks out.  That said, CS6 will not include Acrobat XI.  However, Creative Cloud subscribers will have access to Acrobat XI if they would like to install it.  Per the Acrobat XI FAQ:
Which version of Acrobat is available in the Adobe Creative Suite® editions?
Creative Suite 6 and CS5.5 editions include Acrobat X Pro. Acrobat XI Pro is available through Adobe Creative Cloud™, which provides access to the latest versions of Creative Suite applications on a membership basis.
I can understand your concerns as it relates to the TCS products and the Master Collection.  The best way to influence change on that front is to provide feedback directly to the product teams via the Feature Request form.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

  • Acrobat XI install problem via Creative Cloud

I am a member of Creative Cloud. My CC app says Acrobat XI is installed and up to date. Yet in reality I only have Acrobat X in my applications folder, Acrobat XI is nowhere to be found. I need Acrobat XI, the CC installer is obviously confused. How can I get the CC app to get it all correct?

If you do not want to keep Acrobat X, you might uninstall it and see if you can install XI. You might try to run the Acrobat Cleaner tool that shoudl wipe all traces of Acrobat (assuming you are on Windows).

  • Wow, why does Creative Cloud suck so bad?   Why are there no FAQs in the Creative Cloud FAQ?

I am new to Creative Cloud.   I found some PSD event poster templates on line and I would like to be able to download some of these templates to create event posters.   I have modest goals.
    1) I found a link on the Adobe site for $9.99 monthly fee for photoshop + lightroom.   ok, seems reasonable to spend $10 for a month to see how it goes, I think
    2)  Once I get my CC account set up, there is no upgrade option or the $10 / month deal... only options are more expensive than $10 / month... but I can try it free for some time... ok I'll do that.  Hopefully, I will be able to do what I want to do with the free services?
    3)  Install create cloud app on my computer
    4)  click on install photoshop...   after 20 minutes only 3% downloaded.   darn!   Looks like I am not going to be creating any flyers tonight!
    5)   Is there something wrong?   Maybe I have done something stupid (I mean besides signing up for CC)... lemme check the Creative Cloud FAQ.   Oh!   There are no questions in the Creative Cloud FAQ.   Excellent...
It takes a special kind of talent to transform a potential customer who knows nothing about a product and turn that customer into a hater in one evening.
I just want to say congrats!

That's the page from which I started this troubled journey.  I clicked on "purchase"  and since I didn't have an account yet, it took me off to some other page to create an account, verify my email and all of that and then finally to a blank page... seemed like there was some delay from the time I created the account until the account became useable.   In the meantime I was continuously directed to a blank page every time I tried to log in.   After some time I was able to look at upgrade options, but the $10 offer was not one of my options.   Now, if I go back to the original page which had the $10 option and click on purchase, it seems like it is giving me the option to purchase.   The whole process seems very poorly designed and poorly executed.   Does the software work any better?
In any case, what I am looking to do is download some of the cheap or low cost event poster templates on the internet and edit them to create my own event posters.    I am not sure which Adobe application I need to do this.
Here is an example of the template
    thanks,
    David

  • Acrobat updates always lag in Creative Cloud

Why is it that you can come in this forum an clearly see that there has been a legit update that you need to download, and it is NEVER reflected in the Creative Cloud Pro version.
    Sadly inconsistent.
So instead of updating all apps in in cloud package you ordered, you get different messages to update outside of it and different from it.
    Really?

I don't have a clue. Maybe someone in the CC forum might have an idea.

  • Lightroom 5.2 update not available in creative cloud?

I'm waiting and waiting for creative cloud inviting me to update to version 5.2 but the status stays "up to date"
Someone else having the same problem?
When opening LR5, there's a mention for updating to 5.2.
Should I use that? Won't it mess up my creative clouds app status?

  • I am fed up with how difficult it is to update my apps via Creative Cloud!

Even this whole process is a pain in the butt! Why can't this whole process be streamlined and work like it's promised it will!!!?

Max I am sorry you have been facing difficulties applying your updates.  Do you have any specific error messages which you are receiving when attempting to apply the updates?
If you have not done so already I would recommend reviewing your installation logs to determine the exact error you are experiencing.  You can find details on how to locate and interpret the installation log files at Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cs5-cs5.html.

  • TS1702 Why are my apps not updating

Why are my updates not working for my apps.

Unless you're using iTunes on your computer to update, you should update only one app at a time.  If you have a bunch of apps in "Waiting" state, click all them to get them to "Paused".  Then, one at a time, click one to get it to Downloading, then Installing, and finally Open.  Then repeat on the next app, etc.
