Why are Air Apps crashing my computer during installtion?

I recently downloaded Adobe Air because I wanted to test out some of the different apps for it such as Mixero and GoogleReader Air App. However every time I attempt to install an app it crashes my computer causing a blue screen. I downloaded the latest version of Air, the latest version of the Apps and I am running a laptop which has Win. XP SP3 with a Pentium4 3.2ghz processor and 1.25gb of ram. All of which is well within the system requirements, and yet I consistently get a system error that leads to a blue screen when ever and app installs to 75-80% range.
If anyone knows what is causing thing can you please share with me. I would really like to try the various apps out, but if it continues the way it is I am just going to forget it and uninstall the program and not look back.

Unfortunately, I was unable to get either RotMD or the Kongregate game to crash. If possible, I'd recommend these as bugs with crash logs if available. Here's two FAQs that go over what we'll need:

As for the choppy video, I've heard reports of choppiness when moving the mouse (bug 3364432) and we did have a bug in the past that seems similar (3210007) but this should have been fixed back in the 11.3 timeframe.
Can you try disabling hardware acceleration to see if this helps, if it doesn't, then we'll want another bug report on this issue. Please include a copy of your system's dxdiag report and an exact url to a problematic video.

Finally, you might also consider dropping back to 10.3 to see if the problems continue on an older version of the player (the latest 10.3 does have our latest security updates.)

Why are my apps crashing?

When my main QuickSilver server died, I backed up the boot drive image to a FireWire volume using SuperDuper!. Moved this drive to a G3 iMac and, as a precaution, ran the X Server 10.4.3 Combo Updater on it, repairing permissions both before and after. The iMac has 768MB of RAM.
It boots and mostly works OK, but I'm getting weird app crashes. For example, just launching TextEdit opens a new window then about 5 seconds later it just quits with this crash log:

Other apps like OmniOutliner and MS Word seem to be OK. What the heck is going on here?

Have discovered another, non-Apple app that crashes on launch: MacJournal. So it and TextEdit crash on launch, and Mail crashes when it tries to create a new message. In all cases, the crash happens when the app tries to open a new window for editing, and the crash logs for all 3 are identical.
Since the last recognizable call in the crash log is to _launchSpellChecker, it's been suggested that the problem could be a corrupted User Dictionary (it has to be something in this user's environment because the problem doesn't occur for other users).
I've searched everywhere I could think of for User spelling dictionaries or any other user document opened by the spell checker, and I can't find anything. Any tips?

Ok so..i've had this 4th generation iPod touch for 2 years this december. It has been the most amazing device for me for quite some time. However, lately over the past few months it seems to be failing. Quite a few of my game apps and other general apps period, crash fairly often..some more than others, and it's getting frustrating. I still have 16.5 GB of free space on the device, so I know that's not a problem. Both online and offline apps crash. I've been thinking of completely resetting my ipod to factory hopeing maybe that would work. However, I don't want to lose all my my music..saves..apps etc. and have to redownload and instsll everything for no reason at all. So i'm hopeing that maybe someone out there has a good solution for me on this topic. Appreciate future responses!~

Some apps may require update to resolve the crashing problem, You an try:
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

Why are my apps crashing after shu-down was made on my iPhone?

My e-mail was refusing to load, so I shut my Phone down hoping that it would fix itself. My mail did work after that, but ever since then, my apps aren't even letting me go on to them. I tap the icon, and the app just crashes. I don't know what to do!!!

For example the app Modern Combat 4 says it should only be 1.58 GB on the appstore but when i go into settings>general>usage it says it takes up 2.0 GB.

Because you see the file size of the compuressed file. The file gets expanded when installed and that takes up more space. Also, data is kept in the app.

Nobody here can answer that question. We don't know what you did exactly step by step.They should not disappear when you update iTunes or the iPad iOS.
If they are still in your iTunes library on your computer - sync them back to your iPad.
If you did never transferred them from your iPad to iTunes, download them again in the App Store. Tap on the purchased tab and all of your apps should be in the resulting windows. Download them again. You have to use the same Apple ID that you used to buy them with originally, but they will be free downloads.

What causes an AIR app crash (non-error type)

Pretty general question, but I'm curious as to what I should be looking for if...
- I randomly get the Test Movie Terminated message when compiling or running a desktop AIR app from Flash Pro IDE
- the installed AIR app crashes/terminates randomly from no apparent reason?

no, (and going over budget wouldn't crash flash). going over budget means flash is not able to maintain the targeted frame rate. go over budget enough and you'll see your display stutter instead of maintain smooth animation. that's not relevant to a data app and not relevant to a crash problem.
you want to check the memory use and see if it is relentlessly increasing as you use your app. in particular, what's scout tell you when your app crashes.
My project isn't frame really specific - ie there's no animation or frame reliant graphics in particular. It's a data based app.
Does it just mean that my display will slow down if I'm jamming more processing in that a frame can handle, and should I be worried about it if my display isn't particularly important?

Plug in your iPhone to iTunes on your Computer, let it sync the games onto the Computer, then plug in your iPad and go to Apps in iTunes and select the apps then apply and it will download them to the iPad :)
If you have trouble when in Apps in iTunes on your Computer, it will say iPhone and iPod touch Apps. Hope this helps!!

Hi The next thing to do is to Restore back to Factory Settings this will get rid of any bugs . After Restore use same Apple ID /Password then you should get all your Apps & data back If you still have this problem make an Appointment at Apple Store . Cheers Brian

Same problem here. Not able to update any apps or to download new purchased music. Doesn't work on iPad, iPhone, or iTunes. Tried with 3G download rather than wifi on the phone and iPad. It still hasn't worked. I changed me credit card, but without success.

I am equally disappointed by the lack of Android support.
Just a guess as to why there is so little support for Android ... I'd bet that Adobe is slow to release Android apps because Android is fragmented with a very broad range of versions out there. Even if Android device owners want to upgrade to the latest version of Android, they usually can't get an upgrade -- this may be a problem with the device manufacturer (there are many of them), a mobile carrier or even Google.
iOS devices only have 1 company involved in the update process: Apple. Since iOS is a closed platform - controlled by 1 company who pushes identical updates to most devices - it is a lot easier to maintain a reliable app for iOS users.
I don't want to switch to iOS devices, but I may have to until Adobe steps up its Android development.
