Why are all playlists deleted when closing itunes ver 11

Since installing the latest update for iTunes, version 11, all playlist delete when I close iTunes. I have recreated my playlists six times and am now working on number 7. What's wrong? Can I save the playlists to an external drive and simply copy them back when this happens?

If you have AppleCare on your iPhone then call Apple, it's baically the only way you will get help on that front. Tell them about the issues. After a little while of trouble shooting they should pass you to a senior technician.
What trouble shooting have you done?
If you haven't done so already, Apple will request you to do it while they have you on the phone. Also, do not restore from a backup, set it up as a new device.

My suggested workaround: In Acrobat Pro, in the Page Thumbnails pane, select the pages that you want to replace then right click and select "Delete pages". Then, right-click the page just ahead of where the replacement pages will go, select "Insert pages", and follow the prompts. This is just the way I do it, not the only way.
Tiger26 is making the excellent suggestion that, prior to inserting pages, encapsulate the tags for the pages to be inserted using a Section tag. This makes the post-insertion chore of dragging the tags to their proper place in the tag structure easier.

Why are cookies not deleted when I close Firefox?

My problem is that I set Tools / Options / Privacy / History to "Use custom settings for history", and then under cookies I set Keep until: to "I close Firefox".
Yet, when I close my browser and restart none of the cookies are deleted. If I save my tabs, I stay logged in on the websites that are open on the saved tabs. But even if I close the website, and then quit. And then reopen the website after launching Firefox again, I am still logged in. Whereas Firefox is set not to remember any of my usernames or passwords, so the only way this can happen is via cookies. Therefore, the cookies are not deleted. But I can also see it in the list of cookies: it's full of old stuff.
So why are cookies not deleted despite this setting?
Firefox has beeen pretty soft on privacy lately, and frankly I don't understand why. The possibility to have history older than X days automatically deleted has also been gone for a long time, and now this cookie setting doesn't work, either.

I turned this setting on a long time ago. Basically, it's one of the first things I do after installing my OS and Firefox. So there shouldn't be so many old cookies there.
But anyways, just now I deleted all the cookies manually via Tools / Options / Privacy / Show Cookies / Remove All Cookies to be sure that all the old stuff is wiped out. And yet it still doesn't work.
I logged in to my Gmail account (the Remember Me box ain't checked), closed the tab containing my Gmail account and then closed Firefox. After that I verified in the Task Manager that firefox.exe is indeed not running anymore. So Firefox definitely shut down properly. Then, I restarted Firefox and opened a tab, entered gmail.com, and I was still logged in, therefore the cookies were not deleted.
I have the 10.1.101.000 version of ZoneAlarm, which as it turns out after googling it is indeed not the latest version (it was released in March 2012). The ZoneAlarm Firefox add-on that automatically comes with the firewall is disabled in Firefox.

Why are my playlists deleted from my iPhone?

I've had this iPhone 4 for about a year now, and during most of this time it was synched with one single computer (I manually manage my musics and videos). Recently I had to change computers, and after that I started having some trouble with my playlists: all playlists created in my iPhone (on the go) are deleted as soon as I connect my iPhone into a computer and sync it with iTunes. Any ideas on why this is happening, or how i can fix it?

I figured out why this was happening to me. I have an Iphone 5 & i sync notes to yahoo & periodically my notes get deleted without my knowledge. Here's the story, & I'll need help finding the actual feature on itunes cause I don't sync to itunes since I can't. Iphone 5's will not sync with my power mac.
- Periodically I noticed notes disappearing from my notes. Sometimes a couple notes, sometimes a lot of notes. This was frustrating. The only good part was that they all appeared on my mail account so they weren't gone forever. They were just being deleted from my notes app. I then noticed that this was only happening when I plugged my phone into my work computer to get power. Itunes would pop up & attempt to sync my phone. (I turned off auto sync in the Itunes options, but every now and then, some co worker turnes it back on. One time when I plugged my phone to the work computer & it started to sync. I stopped it, then checked my notes. It was in the process of wiping the notes. It started from the top & went down. I must of stopped the sync in time to save some of them. Now if I had to guess, there is probably a "delete synced notes" check box in your device page of itunes. That I cannot verify cause I do not want to sync my device to my work computer to find out.. Can anyone else verify this?

Why are all my apps missing in iTunes when I backed everything up to my computer?

I just upgraded to the iPhone 5 and backed everything up as required (iCloud & computer). However, all my apps are gone from iTunes and non of my apps transfered to my iPhone 5. Can someone tell me how to retrieve my all my apps?

Alright, your best bet might to be to use the restore from iCloud option, as it will redownload all the apps from your prior device (definitely make sure you're connected to WiFi when you're attempting to do it so that you don't eat through your data plan).
First you'll want to verify that your old iPhone 4 backup is still in iCloud (you can check from your iPhone 5):
On your Home Screen, tap Settings
Tap iCloud
Tap Storage & Backup
Tap Manage Storage
Select the device you want to manage
You should see a backup for the iPhone 4 if there is one. If you tap on that backup, it will give details such as when it was last backed up and the backup size. You'll just want to know that the last backup was able to complete. If you have the iPhone 4 backup still, then you're good to go.
If you decide to proceed with the restore (definitely your call and not mine), go all the way back out to the first Settings page.
In Settings, tap:

Reset
Erase All Content and Settings
How content is restored to a new device
When you go through Setup Assistant on a new device running iOS 5 or later, choose "Restore from iCloud Backup" and enter your iCloud account and password. You will see the three most recent backups for each of the devices on which you enabled Backup. Choose which backup to restore from.
After your device restarts, your settings and accounts are restored and Backup starts downloading your purchased music, movies, TV shows, apps, books, Camera Roll, and other content.
Note: You may be prompted to enter the passwords for all accounts enabled on your device. You may also be prompted to enter the password for for any iTunes, iBookstore and App Store accounts for which iCloud Backup is attempting to restore content.
A progress bar will appear underneath the apps that are being downloaded. To prioritize the restore of a specific app, tap its icon. Restore will attempt to download the same version of the app that you had installed previously. If that version is no longer available, the latest version of the app will be restored.

My selected playlists are not syncing from Itunes to my iPhone. As a music teacher this is extremely problematic as I use my phone as my primary music player. Anyone know why all music syncs but not the playlists?

First, you're not talking to Apple - this is a users' forum. Second, sync operations work one way - iTunes to iDevice; create and modify your playlists in iTunes, then sync them to your iPhone.

Why are all the playcounts in my iTunes library screwed up?

I've been experiencing some odd behavior with iTunes and the playcounts in my library. I'm seeing the "Last Played" dates for some of my songs actually go back in time. For example, I listened to a song on my ipod on 4/14/12 and when I synced my ipod with iTunes the Last Played date updated to 4/14/12. Then with a subsequent sync sometime later, the Last Played date went back to 3/30/12 for that song. I'm positive that I listened to that song on the 14th of April and when I synced my ipod on Monday the 16th the Last Played date updated to 4/14. However it says I last played that song on 3/30/12 in my iTunes library right now. This is true of other songs in my library and I know it's not just my imagination. Not too long ago all of my playcounts got screwed up when I synced my ipod with iTunes. Afterwards, I went to the iTunes library file in Windows Explorer and restored it to an earlier time. That seemed to fix all of my playcounts at the time but is it possible that my iTunes library became corrupted? Did the restoration of that library file ruin my library? I can't delete my library because I'll lose all of my playcounts and playlists. This is a library I've built over a period of 3 years. Someone please help!

Everytime my iphone is backed up, some of my contacts are deleted, why is this and how do I prevent it happening, how do I return the missing contacts?

If they are synced to iCloud and appear on icloud.com, they will reappear on your phone when you sign back into your account. As a precaution, you could use an app like My Contacts Backup to back them up before you restore if you wish. I would also recommend as a precaution that you import your camera roll photos and videos to your computer before restoring, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.

So the menu bar reads iChat, File, Edit, View, Buddies, Video, Window and Help
There is no Buddy List open.
There is no other window for iChat open.
In the iChat Menu you only have access to Status.
Is an item ticked in the list ?
Is this a green (Available item) or Red ( an Away one) ?
Can you access the Accounts option ? (Sitll in the iChat Menu)
Is anything in here ticked ?
In the Window menu any Logged in account should appear in the list (Between the Next Chat and File Transfer items)
It would be useful to know which version of iChat this is.
If no account is ticked (iChat Menu > Accounts) or not showing in the Window Menu, plus you cannot determine the Status and you cannot access the Preferences then you need to access your Home Folder/Library/Preferences
As the Library in the Home Holder is Invisible in Lion you will need the Finder's Go Menu > Go to Folder option (you can use it in earlier OS versions if you want)
Type in:-
~/Library/Preferences
Find the file called com.apple.ichat.plist
Drag it to the Trash and Restart iChat.
This will lose all the settings in iChat that you have changed from Defaults but there is no way around this.

They are all part of one Section. Just as you do not (hopefully) rip pages out at random from books, the pages of a Section are linked by the text that flows from one to the other.
If you want to move or delete particular page/s Insert a Section Break at the end of the page before.

First back up the registry
Go to Start > Run --> type in regedit and hit OK.
Navigate to the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\LocalSettings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify.
Delete the values IconStreams and PastIconsStream.
Open up the Task Manager, go to the Processes tab, select explorer.exe and click End
Process.
Open the Applications tab and click New Task at the bottom-right of the window.
In the message box that pops up type in explorer.exe and hit OK.
Explorer.exe will reload, and the missing icons should now be back in the system-tray
where they belong.

Never mind, got it to work. I stumbled around on Google for a while and somehow ended up reading things from the 'jailbroken' community. They had easy instructions to get out of Recovery mode. Thanks anyway though!
P.S. For anyone who experiences this, here is the fix: Hold Power and Home in unison for 6 seconds, then power on as normal.

One way this happens is when you previously synced contacts via iTunes/USB cable. If you haven't turned that off in iTunes, then you'll get duplicates from iTunes and iCloud.

Why are all paths in Clipping Masks and Compound Paths?

When I open up previous versions of Illustrator files (i.e. CS5), why are all of my paths messed up. Every object is embedded in a Clipping Mask, paths are compounded and in most cases type on a path is expanded into multiple non-editable objects. This causes complete redesign. This is terrible.

Because Illustrator accessed the PDF part of the file.

How were those files transferred to your computer? Are they on a server?
How old are they?
Which versions were they created in?
Did you already try to restart (the computer)?
Any plugins installed?
