Why are applications quitting

I have Microsoft Office for MAC 10.0.0 (2001) installed. The other day, all applications in this package ceased to open. When I click on the icons for any of the applications, I get a message that the application "has suddenly quit" but that the system and other applications have not been affected. If I try to open the application in Finder, I get the same response. However, I can open an existing word or excel document and then proceed to create a new document once the application is open. Why can't I open the application directly?

Usually some update from another app is blocking any subsequent patches. The general cure is to run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool, let the application manager reinstall and then let it try to update each application at the same time to prevent those version conflicts...

Possible reasons why AIR application quit unexpectedly?

My application often quits unexpectedly under Mac OS X 10.5. I have no idea what the cause is. Does the AIR team have any hints on what functions might be vunerable to fail and cause the application to quit?

I would love to clear up this mystery! Let's get that Note 2 acting right! Did this start after an app was downloaded? Is Wifi on? Does it show our 4G signal at the top?

Why are applications not listed in System Profiler?

Hi Apple Support Community,
System Profiler -> Software -> Applications displays "No information found." instead of the expected list of 64bit / 32bit applications installed. What could cause this and how can I get System Profiler to rescan the applications installed?

Why are application icons on launch pad in duplicate form (2 of each)?

When I open up LaunchPad, a lot of the application icons appear in duplicate form (2 of each): Address Book, App Store, Calculator, iCal, iChat, iDVD, etc. What is causing this?

when i click on applications they just bounce for a while, but never open. also, my desktop has no items on it(it did before) and there is no menu bar at the top. nothing happened to start this, i just logged in and it was like this. i have tried restarting the computer several times but nothing has helped.

Why does my test application quit (disappear) during testing?

I wrote test application using CVI2009 under WinXP. The application runs fine but when I repeat test, the application quits around the 9th or 10th repeat. When I reload and run the application it would quit again around the 9th or 10th repeat. I do not have a clue of what is going on. I have attached error logs A80428Error.bmp and A80428ErrorLog.bmp. Would someone please help?

Hello Robert,
a couple of hints on your problem :
1. Are you shure the system you are running on is stable? In the event viewer screenshot you have posted I noticed *a lot* of Application hang errors on several different programs (cvi.exe -which by the way appears to be release 8.51- , explorer.exe, your app, NI Example finder and so on. Maybe you should reconsider reinstalling the system and see if this fixes some of the errors
2. Did you happen to develop your application in CVI 2009 evaluation version? If so, keep in mind that every executable built in eval versions will hang after approx. 10 minutes running (more or less the difference between records on 3/3/2010 12:03 and 3/3/2010 12:14 in system log)
3. If none of the above applies, you could recompile the application checking "Generate map file" checkbox in Build >> Target settings panel: this will generate a report inside cvibuild directory with mappings for all function calls inside your application. By searching the fault address shown in the error log inside the map file, you can narrow down the faulty condition to some specific function in your program

Once I find the game i will truly screenshot that it states "not compatible for these models". I just find it RIDICULOUS that my iPod touch is in good condition and some of the applications that I want download sometimes are not compatible with my iPod touch 4g. I am not going to buy an ipod 5th generation if my 4g is still going strong since the year of 2010.

Why are certains applications not available in South African App Store?

Why are certain applications such as Google Earth, Google Mobile App, and most games not available in the South African App Store.
We speak English so localisation should not be a problem.
I'm sure there are no legal reasons why these applications are not available here, as we have desktop equivalents for most of them.

No idea.
You would have to ask Apple and/or the company that makes the app and/or - most likely - the Government of your country.
I'm sure Apple and the app developer would love to sell more apps.

@Kurt Lang sorry, I composed the message when looking at "Preview" application help on this site, the fact that it missed the context here, is another issue I have with Apple's "famous" UI/UX design...
So for the record, I'm talking about the "Preview" app that comes bundles with Max OSX.

I notice when I look for software updates that some updates ar incompatible. These incompatible updates are always a later version than those I have in y computer. Why are they marked incompatible?

Probably because those applications require OS X Yosemite to be installed, which is the latest OS X version. If you are happy with OS X Mavericks, stay with it, but you can also upgrade to OS X Yosemite if you want to.

Applications quit unexpectedly immediatly

About half of my applications are unexpectedly quitting immediatly after opening, such as safari, dashboard, dictionary, help, software update. As soon as I open the icon the programs try to launch and quit. Is there any program I can run to try and solve, or find out what the problem may be?
