Why are contacts being added?

Since I have had my iPhone4 I have manually added a number of contacts. For some reason though when I go into contacts I see other contacts that I have never added that are nevertheless in my contacts. I can't figure out how these are getting "auto-added" to my contacts. Typically these contacts show up as just an e-mail address and nothing else.

By default iCloud wants the share all of your information with all of your iOS and OS X devices that are signed into iCloud with the same Apple ID. Now if any one of those devices (i.g. Mac, iPad, iPhone) is syncing contacts with an outside source, such as your email account, iCloud will push that information to all devices signed into that iCloud accout. If you think that is the problem here's a solution to fix it.
Follow the link to create a new Apple ID: https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
After you do that, on the device you want to assign a new iCloud account go: Settings > iCloud > Delete Account and then sign in with the new Apple ID.
NOTE: This does not effect iTunes, all of your devices will continue to use one shared iTunes account under your original Apple ID. This simply gives iCloud a place to sync the individual devices information and will stop iCloud form merging all the information, such as contacts, with all of your devices.

I am replying to my post with the hopes that someone can please help me!
I am adding new episodes, but they don't show up on the main page. The most recent one to show up is from 10/29/07. I added a new episode today, but it doesn't appear on the main page (before you subscribe). Is there a limit to the # of podcasts that can appear on the main page? Has anyone else had this problem? All the relevant info is above.

Why are we being pushed to upgrade to iOS 8 when it isn't compatible with Maverick? I just tried to open an iCloud document after upgrading to iOS 8 in all my Apple smart devices and OSX 10.9.5 on my MacBook Pro, only to be told that the new iCloud isn't compatible with Maverick and that I should upgrade to Yosemite. Problem is, Yosemite is only available as a Beta and won't have a public release until Oct. 21. Why would Apple cut its users off from iCloud like this?

Why are contacts I add on my phone not being backed up/linked to iCloud?

I need to delete a previous employer outlook email account from my phone but don't want to lose all of my contacts. I see most of my contacts show they are linked to both that outlook account and to the icloud. I am assuming if I delete the outlook account I will still have the contacts backed up to the icloud? Can someone please confirm this? Second question is that I see quite a few contacts do not show a link at all to either outlook or icloud. Will I lose those contacts? It appears those contacts were created directly on my phone itself, so why are those contacts not being backed up to the cloud? Appreciate any help you can give me so I don't lose contacts and/or have to enter them all over again (I did have my IT department give me a backup of my contacts on excel so worse care I can re-enter all of them but obviously I don't want to have to do that). Thanks!

Did she restore the iPhone 4 and set it up as new wtih her AppleID?
Or did she simply turn it on with your Apple ID still on it and start deleting everything?
You should have Settings > iCLoud account as your AppleID.
She should have hers.

Why Are Surnames Continually Added Back to Contact Entries After I Delete the Surname?

I have quite a few contacts with just their first name.
The Contacts app on my MacBook Pro continually adds last names -- if I had it in there at one time and since removed it -- back to the contact. Then this syncs over to my iPhone and iPads.
Why does Contacts do this and how can I stop it permanently?

If contacts are reverting back, the next place I would try to fix is at iCloud.com, from there you can edit from the source of the contacts. I have also provided and article that will assist with troubleshooting contacts across multiple devices.

Why are images being copied from a linked library that aren't modified

I'm trying out the linked library feature and that is my preffered way of using iPhoto but I notice that many images that haven't been modified in iPhoto are being copied as full res modified images. My camera Nikon D2x supports auto rotation of verticle images which keeps me from having to manualy rotate these images. I understand that when I modify an image using iPhoto's tools that a full res image will be copied into a modified folder but why are images that have simply been tagged in camera as needing rotation being copied as well. Vertical images account for at least half of all images I shoot and diplaying them properly should be a look at exif or other metadata and applying rotation but since they are images straight from camera they shouldn't show as modified. Anyone have experience or suggestions on how to avoid having auto rotated images show as modified?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I ran into that but in a different way. I had all of my image files in folders on a second HD and used another application to manage them. I decided to use iPhoto's alias method to work with the same files. I got a lot of files that were copied over as modified. Have no idea why. I ended up doing global revert to Original several times, watching the Modified folder via the Finder, until it became empty. I then closed iPhoto, dragged the Modified folder to the trash and then launched iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and rebuild the library using the first three options. That worked and got me a pristine library.
I had not figured out why that happened. I've had the auto-rotate turned off for about a year now. Had I know what was causing it I could have checked to see if all of those bogus modified files occurred before I had turned off that option in the camera. I'm guessing now that that's what I would have found. Thanks for the info.

Tracks being played are automatically being added to library!!!

Is there any way to stop a track being played from being added to the library?

There's no way I know of to stop iTunes adding the song but if you right click on the file and choose Open With and then QuickTime you can listen to it without using iTunes.

Why are contacts added to address book multiple times?

Contacts in my iphone are now found rewriting over & over many, many times; appearing in address book with repeated phone numbers (the same number) over and over. Why/how can I stop this?

Why are messages being marked as junk when I have the addresses in my Contacts list?

Almost all incoming messages are marked as junk in two of my accounts. I have 3 other mail accounts without this problem and work normally.
I've added the address to my contacts list and turned off or deleted all junk filters and options. I've rebuilt the Global index and none of this has helped. A few messages have gone directly to my junk folders for these accounts but mostly they stay in the Inbox.
I'm sure its probably someplace in my profile but I don't know what it could be or how to find out.

All they seem to do is furnish the software you can download for Windows OS only. I'm using Mac. They may have something that filters their local email accounts but I've never set up the email account I have with them in Thunderbird. I'll check that account and see if there are any filters..
I have 3 different email accounts set up, two for 2 websites and gmail. One of the website accounts works just fine. The others have the problem.

Why aren't new contacts being added from incoming texts and/or recent calls loading in main Contacts?

Everytime I get a text and I click the "Info" button and then "add new contact"... There name appears at the top of the screen and in the caller id/text message screen, however when I go to contacts the new addition isn't loading up.
Then when I went to Groups and to "Show ALL Contacts" I can see the new additions. However I also see EVER SINGLE email address listed seperately from my Yahoo account. I am so confused. Is there a way to get the new contacts added to display in my contacts list, without it also displaing my Yahoo email contacts?!??!

When you add new contact you are adding the contact to your default contacts account. Your default contact account is set in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Contacts > Default Account. If this account is checked in the Contacts app Groups view, you will see the new contacts in the Contacts app. Otherwise not.
I suspect your problem is that your default contact account is not set to the account you think it is.

Why are Contact Forms being pounded with SPAM?

Is anyone else experience an unusually high volume of SPAM in thier contact forms?

The spam stopped once we applied the filters for the Comments and the Akismet is sitting there in the system now so they just need to fully role out the control into forms which will do a lot.
The Amazing thing with that which I need to check with the engineers that I thought is that BC is run by BC, so if they are using Akismet I want to check to see if they are pooling all the spam filters applied on all BC sites into one central database that ALL sites have access too. If they are doing this - SWEET, if not I am going to suggest they do.
THat would mean if your being spammed what you block will mean sites I build will not get those same spam and so on.
Making the captcha more secure agaisnt OCR will make them harder to use so there is negatives you got to weigh up.

Why are contacts stopped backing up ?

I backed-up my contact on my Iphone to both Gmail and Icloud. Contacts are already seen in Icloud and Gmail. Now, when I open contact on the phone, there is an Icon "Group" in the top left corner. And when I open this Icon, this shows that my contacts are backed up in both Gmail and Icloud. Then I can choose contacts in which back-up are displayed in contact list. I also set the back up to icloud automatically.
However, my problem is when I create a new contact, it could not be backed-up to both Gmail and Icloud. I also realize that the pattern of the backed up contacts and the new added contact is something different. If I open one backed - up contact from the contact list, it show linked contact in in 2 bottom line as follows:
Linked contacts:
- Icloud: xxx (name of contact)
- CardDAV: yyy (name of contact)
But in the case of new added contact, linked contacts are not shown as above.
My question is: why is new added contact not backed up ? Pls help

Since a few days I have exactly the same problem.
"Time Machine stopped backing up the application, library, private and system folders and only back up the users folder."
I did all the checks without success. Thereafter I deleted the backup disk and started a new copy on a new formatted disk.
Same result.

5x promotional points are not being added

I purchased a lg washer and dryer during the 5x points promotion in October and when the points were added the points were just the standard points, not the 5x points. I have contated eliteplus support many times about this issue and it is still not being corrected. I made a seperate purchase the same day of $11,000 and received those points correctly. Why am I not receiving my points???????
