Why are files larger after importing? idvd 08.

why when i import a 2.38gb file does it say 4.92gb and its too large for project? any answers are greatly appreciated. thank you.

Material on a DVD must be in a standard format, and video's format is mpeg-2. It sounds like you must have a video in a very compressed format and so iDVD has to uncompress it and change formats (transcoding).
Really though, what matters is length. iDVD can fit up to 1 hour of material at highest resolution (best performance setting in preferences) and up to 2 hrs maximum (best quality setting). Or you can use the Pro setting, and it will take a bit longer to encode/burn, but the quality should be similar to Best Performance.

  • Hi why are my photos after downloading twice ,once in photo library and once in a file with the date why cant i delete a file its an iphone 4s please help

why are my photos after downloadon twice one as photo library the other as a file with date how can i delete one file same pics

Generally I would not use Facebook for sharing any photos, it compresses the photos substantially, and when you have shadows and dark colours you get visible "bands" where there should be subtle gradients, ie at sunsets and sunrises.
It sounds like you are using two methods to upload to Facebook:
    1. Sharing from within Aperture, which basically syncs Facebook with your Aperture album, so any changes made at either end gets synced, hence the deletions from Albums, although the original file should still be in your library, just removed rom the album. It is like a playlist in iTunes.
    2. Exporting pics and uploading to Facebook from the browser.
I am not sure how method 1 gets compressed, but I know that uploading hi-res jpegs to Facebook using method 2 results in poor quality images.
I wouldn't even bother comparing option 1 or 2, and they will both be poor images once you view them on Facebook, as opposed to viewing uploaded images on proper image sharing / hosting sites.
Your problem is not with Aperture, it is using Facebook for showing your work.
If you export pics form Aperture at high res jpegs or TIFFs your images will be fine.
If you insist to use Facebook as your way to share your work, then your workflow should be this:
    1. Right click images you want to share.
    2. Select Export version.
    3. Export as 100% size and ensure the export settings are set at 100% quality.
    4. Upload this pic into Facebook.
This will get you the best image size and resolution on Facebook.
    See how you go.

  • Huge file size after importing

I have a shell (6 slides) used to jump out to windows media
files. I imported only two slides from another project with text
objects only and now the file size jumped from 977k to over 10 Meg.
How on earth is this possible? basically powerpoint slides. NO
    video. NO audio.
Plus, when I look at the project size in storyboard view
within Cap, it says the project is 1,234k. But when I look at it in
windows explorer it definitley says 10,333k. Why are the file sizes
    inconsistent?
Thoughts, suggestions and good guesses are appreciated!
    Thanks!
    Jim

    Jim,
I've never paid much attention over the years to the
Storyboard view Information panel, so I'm not entirely sure what
that "Size" value is referring to. I just opened one of my existing
projects and see "684.0KB," which is alot closer to the published
SWF size (569KB) than the project's source file (4,172KB).
When you say you see "10,333K" in Explorer, I assume you're
talking about the project source file. Since you said that you
don't have audio or video, then you must have only a short sequence
of slides containing background images imported from PowerPoint.
The dimensions of the PowerPoint presentation (the resolution of
the images) and their color depth will impact the size of the
    images when imported into Captivate.
Could it be that the PowerPoint project contained some rather
    large images to begin with?
That said, do you know already that Captivate 2 has a very
significant bug that causes the CP file size to grow dramatically
as you import/edit/re-edit your project? You didn't mention how
extensively you may have already edited your project, so I thought
    I'd bring that up.
Another thing to consider would be whether your project's
library has lots of unused objects in it -- maybe images that came
in with the PowerPoint project but that you're not really using in
your slides. Cleaning out the library and saving the project will
    net you a little savings.

  • Reducing song file size AFTER importing

I now realize that I should have used the iTunes preferences to set the import file type and the quality setting BEFORE importing songs. However, I now have over 170 songs in my iTunes library, and I would like to be able to reduce the file sizes for those songs. I will change the iTunes settings before importing any more songs, but I would like to be able to reduce the sizes of those files that I have already imported. Some of them are as large as 6 MB, while most of them are around 3 MB. Both are too big. Is there any way to take care of this problem? I am particularly concerned about those songs that I imported from the iTunes store after paying for them. Songs that I imported from my CDs can be done over, but I don't want lose the money that I have invested on those songs that I bought from iTunes.

iMac DV (Special Edition)   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Your answer reverses the usual order: it starts out with the bad news but then finishes with the good news...I think. I guess you're saying that nothing can be done with the songs I have purchased from iTunes. With them, I'm stuck with 3 MB for the usual 3-minute song. Well, so much for iTunes, then. I'll certainly never buy any more songs from them. That IS bad news. On the other hand, I think you're saying that I CAN convert songs I obtain from my CDs to smaller bundles. I used to do that quite routinely when I was in OS 9, but I'm not sure of how to do it now that I'm using OS 10.3.9. I hope it's not much more difficult, but I'll just have to see. Anyway, thanks for the information. Now I have to study OS 10 and the latest version of iTunes.

  • Why are my RAW images imported in to Lightroom 5 being de-saturated?

Lately, in LR 5.3 and 5.5, every time I import RAW images they show up de-saturated.  In the thumbnail they look right, but in both the library and develop mode main screens they show up very flat and de-saturated.
This is the first time I have had this problem.....never had it in V2-4.
I am shooting with a Canon 5D MIII.
I thought that there may be a preset during import that is doing this, but I do not think that is the case.
I need some help, any ideas what is causing this?  I cant process all my weddings with this issue.....it would take forever to fix.
    JP

Images can be different between the camera-rendered preview you see before Import and the default Adobe rendering, but after import the thumbnail in the LR grid view shouldn’t be a different tone than the image in the main area.  Is that what you’re saying you’re seeing?
Can you show us a screenshot with both the thumbnail filmstrip and the central area visible as well as the histogram?

  • Why are curves "inverted" after ACR grayscale conversion?

I have Photoshop CS5 version 12.0.1.  If I make a grayscale conversion in Adobe Camera Raw and then open the image into Photoshop and add a curves adjustment layer, the curve is the "wrong" way round with the white point being on the left of the curves graph while the black point is on the right. However if I add a levels adjustment layer, the levels graph is as it usually is with the black point to the left and the white point to he right.
If I open the image from ACR in color without making a grayscale conversion, the curves layer is also as expected - black point to left and white point to right.  Can anyone explain why it is inverted after a grayscale conversion in ACR?
    Thanks

It's a good question; the default for grayscale images appears to be Pigment/Ink% instead of Light, leading to the "reversal" you describe.
The good news is that the default is separate for black and white and color images, and sticky, so you can change it around by doing this:
    1.  Click the little menu button at the upper right of the Adjustments panel and choose Curves Display Options.
    2.  Change the Show Amount of: setting from Pigment/Ink % to Light (0-255).
    Hope this helps.

  • Why are missing items when import pst files to Outlook 2011 for mac?

    Hello.
After installing Office 2011 for Mac I configured Outlook and it was allright.
But when I tried to import a pst file from the old laptop who has Office 2007, I found that in the Outlook 2011 Inbox I have only ~60% items comparative with the Outlook 2007 Inbox.
From Microsoft Office forums I've got an answer that there are indeed some reports with missing items when import pst in Outlook 2011 but the solution they gave me (create folders in Inbox before import) doesn't work.
Do you know something about this kind of problems?
Is it a feature in Outlook 2011 which automaticaly select/delete/combine items based on the similarity between them or based something else?
Have you an ideea how to finally use this macbook and in the same time all my old emails?
    Thanks.

    Hi Steve,
Thanks for this-yes, eventually, I do send/receive fine, once I've poppedd my passwords in.
I think you are right in that BT seem to be having unique server/login issues...at least this is what I've read elsewhere too.
Iroonically, this AM I opened my new Mac and have *not* been asked for passwords so perhaps the changes I made in the settings yesterday (keychain reset in Mac) and also changing it from smtp.....to mail.btinternet.com solved the issue...who knows? All I know is this last week I've nearly lost the will to live on more than one occasion, from the transition from PC Windows Live Mail to Outlook for Mac.

  • Why are my NEF's imported to Lightroom 3 a smaller size?

Why is it that when I import NEF's to Lightroom 3 and then open them in Photoshop CS4 the the image size is 7.954 x 5.28"?  But if I just drag my NEF's to a folder on the computer and open in Photoshop they are 17.067" x 11.33".  I really want to edit in Lightroom but I need the largest size possible for finished photos.   I have no presets selected during import.   Is it possible that the size of NEF's is irrelevant to the finished Jpeg size?  Thanks for your help!

A digital image (image file) does not have a size in inches (or centimeters). The displays you are seeing are misleading.
The only dimension of a digital image is its pixel dimension: so many pixels horizontal, so many vertical.
For instance: an image comes out of the camera with a pixel dimension of 3000 x 2000 pixels. That is its only dimension.
For printing an image we want a size in inches (or centimeters) which is dependant of the resolution we choose for the print.
In the above example if we choose a resolution of 300 dpi we get a print size of 10" x 6.66". But if we choose a resolution of 200 dpi we get a print size of 15" x 10".
If we would want the image to print with a resolution of 300 dpi in a print size of 24" x  16" we realize that we don't have enough pixels for that in the original image. Thus for a print size of 24" x 16" at 300 dpi we have to upsample the image to 7200 x 4800 pixels, i.e. Photoshop or Lr has to "invent" new pixel to fill in the missing ones.
But as long as your image is on the computer (or on the web) there is only the pixel dimension; a size in inches or centimeters is non-existent.
What Photoshop tells you in the image size box is the following: For the given image file and the selected resolution we would arrive at a certain print size.
Please note that Photoshop indicates the selected resolution at the bottom of the image size box. Change the resolution and uncheck <Resample image> and see how the size in inches changes.

  • Why are files going offline when exporting from premiere

    Hi all
I've got a feature length documentary of 2 hours. All files are online but upon exporting from premiere via media encoder the finished file has 'media offline' on some shots. I have NO idea why this is happening. All clips are online on the timeline.
I'm exporting both blu-ray mpeg and dvd mpeg. The project is on an external hard drive. Can anyone help this is a nightmare!?
Will exporting via premiere pro direct fix this problem?
    Thanks

Can't you see how the video is pixelated? Mainly around the nose and forehead?
Nope.  Looks fine when I watch it.

  • Why are files in Firefox 33 cache directory different size than saved files on desktop

In previous versions of Firefox I used the cache directory to extract videos, flash files and hidden images, that were not saved in folder and a HTML Document file on desktop. For Example the opening image of a YouTube Video can not be extracted and saved from Firefox but is stored in the cache directory.
To find these files without going through them one at a time, I would copy the cache folder on a desktop folder and then use Double Killer to delete the same size files in both the cache and the saved files in the desktop file folder. The files that are left behind in the cache folder are those that did not save to the desktop file and folder. I can then double check to see if I can find the videos, flash or images from the remaining files.
I have updated to Firefox 30.0.3. The problem now is that the files in the cache are different in KB size from the saved files on the desktop folder. The dimensions of a saved image are the same but the size of the file differ. Now I can not use Double Killer to delete files and have to go through the whole cache directory one by one to find files that were not saved.
Why did the Firefox developers changed the cache directory? Do I need to revert to a previous version of Firefox or is there a way that I can change the cache directory of Firefox 33.0.3 and the size that it stores files.
Would also like to know what add-on gives the best quality screenshot with flash.
Thanks for this support. Apart from this cache problem I find Firefox easy to use and the best web browser.

Current Firefox 32+ releases use a new cache service named Cache2 and this cache service works differently.
Files in the cache2 folder are special files that also store the meta data apart from the actual file data that you see on the about:cache page if you click an item.

  • Find source import file name after imports

Hi! We usually import data via Import Manager rather than using MDIS. Now, if I want to verify the file that I have used for the import, where can I find the information? I couldn't see any of these in the Report and Logs in the MDM Console.
    Appreciate any help on this.
    Cheers!
    SF

    Hi Ravi,
This is also an alternative way of doing this if your MDIS services are not running. But Port Concept ideally should be used with MDIS, when you have created and saved Map in Port of MDM console. Is any other Privileges do we get if we do this import using MDM Import manager manually when it can be done automatically using (MDIS) as soon as there is file in MDM Inbound Ready folder. Rightly said by you , yes you can place file in Ready folder through Scripting or PI etc.
@ SF, As per my understanding i agree you can monitor the files using Type =Port during Import Manager but i don't see any benefit of using Processing Type= Manual, if it can be automated using MDIS(if Import Server is running).
@ Sudhanshu, So we can track the files wither port is manual or automatic I don't think we can track whether the file reaches to Archive folder from Ready folder using MDIS or through Import Manager selecting  type = Port.
But there is one thing, whenever file disappears from Ready folder and goes to archive folder using MDIS, a log file gets generated in MDIS logs folder so this is one way using which we can come to know when was last file imported through Import server but i think we can not track from Archive  folder.
