Why are inbox mesgs being deleted when I close my e-mail program ?

Hello. Thanks for your help.
Every time I finish reading my inbox e-mails, then close the program,
all the inbox messages are automatically deleted.
When I open the inbox the next time, all messages that were in the inbox are gone forever.

POP or IMAP? If IMAP, have you checked what appears on the server, via your email provider's website? Are the missing messages visible there?
You may have inadvertently selected a setting that shows only unread messages, so when you come back to Thunderbird they are hidden after having been read. Check you have View|Folders|All, and that the Read selector in the QuickFilter toolbar is de-selected.

I also have this problem though it only seems to affect my iPod Nano (6th gen). It does not seem to affect my iPhone (though now as I type this, I better confirm that as I haven't manually managed podcasts on my iPhone since the last iTunes updates). I have iTunes set to "manually manage music and videos" (just like OP, I'd rather manage music and videos myself rather than construct playlists and have iTunes sync them), and under the "Podcasts" tab on my nano, I do not have "Sync Podcasts" checked.
Is this something that has occurred since the last iTunes update?

SnippetPreview$.htm - Why are these not being deleted?

I have the following files in my project folder:
SnippetPreview$.htm
SnippetPreview1$.htm
SnippetPreview2$.htm
SnippetPreview3$.htm
SnippetPreview4$.htm
I noticed them because they are not in Visual SourceSafe so they appear when I go to add files to VSS when I create new snippets. They contain the text of snippets I've created.
I know they are harmless, but why are they not being automatically deleted from RH when no longer needed?
Is this a setting or preference I can set?

Sometimes temporary files are left behind. These are just files created on previewing a snippet and like any other temporary files are not deleted. Just delete them.

Downloads being deleted when Firefox closes

Since the latest update of Firefox my latest downloads are being deleted when I exit the browser. What I have to do to get around this problem is to copy the downloaded files and past them elsewhere before I close the browser. I have uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it again but the problem still persists. ANy help would be appreciated as its very annoying.

I'm not sure why you wrote above: Cookies - OFF if you were clearing cookies.
Clearing cookies that way also clears cookies (including Flash local storage), so I would have suggest that if cookies were included in that list.
That is why I posted to check in Safe mode because that would be another possibility.
To summarize:
In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":
*do not clear Cookies
*do not clear Site Preferences
Clearing cookies will remove all specified (selected) cookies including cookies that have an allow exception.
*Tools > Options > Privacy: History: [X] Clear history when Firefox closes > Settings
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Clear+Recent+History
Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.
Let all cookies expire when you close Firefox.
* Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Keep until": "I close Firefox"
Make an Allow exception for the ones that you want to keep.
* Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Exceptions"

I have posted a question on email not working twice, and it appears on line for a few minutes then disappears!!
Way is it being deleted?

I do not think your posts were deleted - there are at least 5 almost identical posts on the board now!
As for the nokiamail/yahoo trouble I gave up trying to make it work more than a month ago. The root cause for the error that I and others had were not found, and it is not important enough for me to persist. At this time the proper place to complain about Nokia mobile devices and mobile services is of course Microsoft. I wish you good luck trying to convince Microsoft that they should sort out trouble with a competing freemail service.

Why are all my tabs lost when I close my session?

Recently got a new computer and downloaded Firefox, but it isn't like the version I'm used to - there's no tab groups, and when I close my session I lose all the tabs I had open. I have Windows XP and Mozilla Firefox v 6.0.2 - is that the wrong version? Also, I tried to find a setting to save tabs in the Options menu, but didn't see anything.

Why in HELL didn't Firefox tell us about this ridiculous "new" way to restore previously opened tabs?? Good Lord, give us the info window again, or at least have the option to put a 'button' to click to restore.

Why are my podcasts being deleted?

I have transferred some podcasts to new generation touch. Seems after I view them once they vanish. I am not deleting them.

Are your sync options set to +manually manage music and videos?+ I tried that at first, but I kept deleting everything when I was experimenting with the settings. So now I have it set to do the automatic sync, and to +sync only checked songs and videos.+ That also ensures that iTunes creates the Backup file each day that I sync.
What I was referring to is the sync settings in the Podcasts tab, like this:
I was speculating that yours is set to only sync unplayed podcasts. After you play them on the iPod they become invisible, then are deleted the next time you sync. If so, set it to All, Sync again, and see if they will remain on your iPod.
btw I have hundreds of posts on the forums. Have no idea why I had to reregister all of a sudden.
This happens inexplicably from time to time. Try deleting your web browser's cache and cookies, then logging in again to your previous account. If you'd like more help with that matter, users in the [Feedback about Discussions forum|http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1076] can help you troubleshoot.

Why are my images being pixelated when using free transform?

HI.
I am pretty comfortbale with PS but stil learning more of the finer details. I can't find an answer for this on any help topics or threads.
I often bring several images into a document or workflow and it seems that when I reduce an image that's too big for the canvas, it looses it's quality as soon as I break out the transform tool and becomes very pixelated. Any thoughts?

Thanks for both of your suggestions. My images are at 100ppi resolution and I am viewing the documents at about 150% the entire time. My image interpolation is set for bicubit (best for smooth gradient).
I've tried to reproduce the problem in different ways before replying here and think I've narrowed it down a bit. It seems that when I use the File->Place way to insert an image into an existing document, I don't run into this pixelation or image degredation issue. It's only when I drag an image from one document to another using tabbed document introduced in CS4 (I'm using CS5 btw).
If I have document 1 open and drag an image (or layer) from document 2 into document 1, then resize that image in document 1, I get a loss of quality. Not sure if that helps anyone else. Also not sure why this is hapenning as the ability to drag layers back and forth is pretty handy and I'd rather not give it up.

Why are modified contacts being deleted?

I have a lot of duplicates in my iPhone 4S and for the last two days, I painstakingly added twitter info, addresses, Facebook IDs and other information to some of the frequently used contacts. Let's say about 20 contacts (I have thousands of contacts with thousands of duplicates). I was pleased with the way iPhone contacts app is built and I didn't think much about until a friend called an I noticed his name was not appearing on the screen. I later realised that every contact that I had modified by adding or deleting duplicates (20 of them) were stripped off of all the information that I had added and only a few details were left. Funnily, the duplicates didn't come back either. I have a backup of all my contacts on Smartr app so I am not worrying about the loss of data but I am disappointed and angered that contacts app has a mind of its own! Interestingly I haven't even synced the phone to iTunes. I am really confused why the contacts that I modified are tampered by the software. What can I possibly do? Can't I ever use the native contacts app to modify and delete contacts?

Do you have your Contacts set to "On" for iCloud? Not sure why what is happening to you is happening, but if you do have them on for the Cloud, then even if you haven't sync'd to iTunes, there would be syncing going on with the Cloud...
I would suggest switching the Contacts to Off on your phone, doing the updates, then switching back on again.

Why are my emails being deleted since I've updated to ios7? And how do I stop this?

Good old ios7 has taken away the ability to know how many emails you want to store I.e. 25, 50, 200 etc. It also takes it upon itself to just delete emails whenever it fanices. I'm not talking about confirming deletes once you've pressed the trash can icon, I'm talking about just deleting it itself when it wants. Can you please tell me how to stop this auto deleting and how to store more emails? Thank you.

This will occur when you share an apple id with someone.
ON each devices go to settings - mail - send&receive- remove or uncheck the apple id.

Why are my files being deleted?

I have an interesting problem and this is the second time it has happened in 2 months.
I have a mac mini server running mountain lion server with a disk partition where our client folders are stored. This partition is then shared across the network via file sharing.
Last Friday, a number of folders from this shared partition were deleted, alphabetically (about 4-5Gb of info) - about 6 client folders. The last time date I have is 5.09pm on the last top most folder that had items deleted. A Retrospect backup then started 5.13pm. (These may be unrelated). We were still working on some of these files around 3pm.
So sometime between 3pm and 5.13pm these files disappeared.
There were only 2 of us and one of us accidently deleting so many files seems unlikely.
This happened once before but only a few client folders were deleted.
I have done the following:
1. Scanned for viruses
2. Run recovery for deleted files
and found nothing, it is like they never were there.
Has anyone had a similar experience?
This one has left me bamboozled.

Nevermind. Audible was helpful. Once I tried to play one Audible book in iTunes, I was asked to authorize it, which then authorized all of them. The problem seemed to have been caused by changing computers. Apparently the authorization didn't move with me.
I still think it's confusing to have the Deauthorize Audible menu choice without an Authorize Audible choice.

Why are my settings being changed when I bounce?

I'm trying to bounce files from a Finale playback and everytime I bounce, all the panning and mixing changes I made return to their default setting.

The original photstream instructions, and the current photostream information page on the apple website, say that photos on your pc or mac computer that have been synced by photostream are permanent but the latest updatge seems to have changed that so when items are deleted from any device they are deleted from all devices, including images that have gotten older and have rolled out of photostream on my iphone. I trusted photostream to save these images on my computer and now they appear to be gone. Can I turn off the option of deleting photostream images from my computer or do I need to copy these images to another folder to save them from being deleted when they are deleted from the device.

It depends on the type of email account you are using, not on iCloud. If you are using an IMAP or exchange account, when you delete from one device, it is deleted from all devices. If you are using a POP (POP3) account, it won't. (iCloud email, Gmail and Yahoo are all IMAP accounts.)
