Why are LabVIEW 8 projects so big (installer dir contais about 70MB) after the build.

Dear wire workers
I got my LV 8 and played around with it.
The new project is a great enhancement but one thing realy is nearly amazing.
In LV 5 a app buid of a comparable project was 5MB.
In LV 7.1.1 about 10MB and in LV 8 about 70MB.
For what?
I just user nearly the same functionalities.
One thing that separates the 7.1.1 projects from the 8 is that you can not longer
chose witch part of the runtime you want to use. The only Option in the settings
is full. So I have to take all or nothing.
That makes it nearly impossible to post my app. to the customer by e-mail.
Is anyone out there with a hint to avoid such a big installer?

The Run Time engine is indeed larger with LV 8. I expect it will grow
with every new release to accomidate the new features, and there's a
lot of those with 8.
The application builder is actually more configurable with 8. Look at
the "Additional Installer", section of the builder and make sure
nothing is selected that doesn't need to be. It looks like 60-70 meg is
going to be the minimum size if you include the RTE with the
application. Remember, you only need to do this once as Altenbach said.
Make multiple build settings if you want. One with the installer and
RTE, one with just the installer, I even make one that doesn't include
an installer, just the executable.
For one project I'm working on, I get total sizes of:
App installer + RTE = 67MB
App installer = 9MB
Just .exe = 2MB
Make sure to explore all the settings to all teh good from the builder you can.

No, this is not the case. I know where i purchased the movie and I also know movies cant be added to the cloud such as music, TV shows can. The instance happened during the dowload. I think that depending which computer is up and running and the bandwith allocated on either network, which ever computer that finishes first is the one that gets the movie. Just a thought. So next time I will ensure my IMAC is not running. I think that fixes it.

Sounds like you're a candidate for Lightroom...based on the time you don't
want to spend in Photoshop.
Photoshop install media is likely created in large batches, perhaps in a
foreign country, so it's understandable that you get Photoshop 11.0.0 is on
the media.
I don't know as I would use ProPhotoRGB as my working space in Photoshop. I
was merely suggesting that you look at your color settings to make sure
things were the same on both machines.
How do you know your actions are the same? Did you copy the action
recording from one computer to the other, or did you merely record the same
steps on each one? Have you compared the details of each action step in the
Actions Palette to make sure they are the same? The symptoms still sound
like something different than sRGB being the output color-space, or the fact
it isn't embedded on one or the other of the computers.
How are you viewing the JPG when it looks the same or different than the
RAW? Are you looking at the side-by-side in Photoshop, or side-by-side in
Bridge, or are you using a mixture of viewers, one Adobe, and one not? And
are you using the Canon Codec on Vista or not? The Canon Codec would be
showing the camera-preview in the RAW not the RAW adjustments that Adobe has
done.
While the OS shouldn't be causing a difference in how the action is run, a
difference between OSes may make a difference in the processing to show up.
The camera profile associated with a RAW file is visible in the
third-from-right tab in ACR over at the right. The one with the little
DSLR-camera icon on the tab.
Can you attach the two JPGs on a reply, here, or if not, upload a ZIP of the
two JPGs and the RAW to a file-sharing site like http://www.rapidshare.com/
and post the download link(s)?

Q: Why does a VRRP master with preemption disabled regain master state after the reboot?
A: This issue is found in the following scenarios:
1. When spanning tree is disabled on either of the VRRP controllers but enabled on upstream switch(es).
2. When the controller(any one VRRP controller) and upstream device(s) run different versions of STP.
3. STP convergence time is different across the VRRP controllers.
In these scenarios, rebooted vrrp master is expected to come back as vrrp MASTER as the link takes some time to converge and fail to receive VRRP advertisement packets from its peer and may roll back to MASTER.
Trigger for this is, since STP is enabled on intermediate switch and disabled on controller, switch is taking some time ~30 secs to converge the link while port on the controller has become UP and fail-over to Master due to
not receiving VRRP advertisement packets
In all these cases, it is advised to enable holdtime to mitigate issue. Holdtime has been introduced to tackle this issue in the "preemption disabled scenario".
Configuration via CLI:
(controller) (config) #vrrp <id>
(controller) (config-vrrp)#holdtime
Description:
The VRRP virtual router does not begin listening to advertisements until the holdtime expires. If your deployment includes a VRRP master with preemption disabled and an uplink switch is running RSTP, a higher value will prevent the VRRP master from regaining the master state after it reboots.
Range: 30 - 120 seconds
Default: 45 seconds

I can't update either of these because of my Avid installation.
Something else I didn't mention – this happens in a 4K project. Notice how a default Zoom title looks:

Then I decided to make a 720p project. No more title problems.

Why does my Elements 12 ask me to enter Program Key after the product has been used and registered

I have had Elememts 12 for several months ... when I bought it ...I downloaded the program and registered it ... now ... every once in a while the program asks me to enter the Key number as if I never registered it ... also sometimes I get a message about my 30 day trial ...

I purchased Elements 12 not the Premier addition .... the disk Elements 12 comes with a trial version of Premier ... I did not install the 30 day trial version .... maybe t is Adobe trying to sell me the Premier addition ... I will pay more attention the next time the message comes up ... after reading some of the posts, I think that is what is happening ... I will have to wait ... someone wrote that they had the same problem and after a while, the message stopped appearing .... as I indicated .... I will look more carefully the next time I see the message...

I am trying to get through all your recent replies to go back to your post numbered 8.
1. Go to Control Panel/Programs and determine if you have Premiere Elements 12 and Photoshop Elements 12 installed.
2. When you have gotten the try out dialog, what program is mentioned in the dialogs - Premiere Elements 12 or Photoshop Elements 12?
3. The fundamental question is what did you purchase
a Photoshop Elements 12
b. Premiere Elements 12
c. Photoshop Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12
From what you wrote it sounds like Photoshop Elements 12. Premiere Elements 12 seems to have come along as a tryout.
4. If Premiere Elements 12 is a tryout, after 30 days from first install of it, you should not be able to use it without a purchased serial number specific for Premiere Elements 12.
5. If you have no interest in Premiere Elements 12 tryout, uninstall it if it is installed. If it is not installed, then it is not the cause of your trial messages. But, I offer you this thought. Are these really License This Product/Continue Trial messages or are they really promotional dialogs (ads) put on your computer by Adobe who knows you have Photoshop Elements 12 and are trying to get you interested in Premiere Elements as well?
Please review and consider.

why does fix capitalization work when there is only one space after the period in pages 09? For example: "Turn on 3rd St. After the traffic light." There is only one space after the period in "St." shouldn't it only auto correct after TWO spaces..?? the word After, should be after..

You may also use a noBreak space after the period at the end of the abbreviation.
If I remember well, in such case the capitalization will not apply.

Why is my project so big?

Hi guys,

I'm having trouble with a large project that I am working on. It is mainly consisted of many menus (using .psd files), and some m2v menus as well.
The project is about India. So it is ALL the states of India with a brief summary of each, m2v menus with links to more infomation (menus using .psd files).
I will attach a few screen caps of my project so that this may be a little easier to understand.
All the assets that I am using for the project fit onto a DVD, so im a little confused as to why in the project, the files is so huge. It is adding up to be 17.9GB! I have gone through the assets deleting what I do not need, and tried to make sure that I am not doubling up on any tracks or menus. I am using the bare necessities of my assets. Could this be because of all the menus?I know that my m2v files may be compressed too big or something but other than that would there be something else affecting my project size?
I have tried a little testing with this project to what is affecting the size the most.
I tried deleting (*on each state) most of the still image menus(.psd) and leaving just the m2vmenu because there is audio in them explaining mainly what the still images did.
I need to keep the psd stills for the tourist information sections so I cannot delete those files.
Any help would be great.

OK - this gets a little intense, but stick with it... (this should probably be its own thread).
There are at least two ways to do this without scripts, depending on how you have the project set up.
Firstly, if the menu buttons point to a track each and not a part of a track (i.e. a chapter) then you can simply set the end jump and use the drop down options in the property inspector to find the precise menu and button that you want to go to. This is one good reason why people put a single clip into a track and create lots of tracks.
Secondly, if you do have each clip one after the other in a single track (which is more logical to me...) then you can use stories - each set of chapters that you want the menu button to play goes into a story container... your menu button then points at the container, not the marker. Each story container can have its own end jump which you can set using the property inspector, taking you back to whatever button you want (in the same way you do for a track).
However, if you want to do this with scripts there are again at least two ways to do it.
Firstly, you need to know that each element on your DVD is assigned a number and you can use these numbers to know what has just been played, or what button was previously selected on a menu. There are also two types of memory spaces in a DVD player - those that hold information automatically, such as what chapter has just played, or what button was just 'pressed', and those that you can fill with information yourself. Using a combination of these facts you can tell which chapter has just played and go to the next logical button on any menu, or you can keep track of which button you last selected on a menu and go back to the appropriate one in the sequence.
You do it like this:
1) Using the chapter information
Create a script and set it as the menu call for the track. Add the following details using the script editor (details in the manual)
mov GPRM0, SPRM7
Jump Menuname [GPRM0]
This script will track what the last chapter was that you have played, and will place the value into the first memory slot (called GPRM0). The chapters are numbered 1-99, so GPRM0 will receive a number in that range. The second line is a GPRM based button jump, which means that you will jump to the menu you specify (replace 'menuname' with the actual menu name) and the button that has the same number as the value in GPRM0. Your buttons are numbered in the order you create them.
2) Tracking the last button selected
Create a script and set it as the menu call and the end jump for the track. Add the following:
mov GPRM0, SPRM8
div GPRM0, 1024
Jump menuname [GPRM0]
This time, the SPRM is keeping track of the last button used. These are numbered from 1024 upwards by the DVD player, in increments of 1024, so the second button will have a value of 2048, etc.
The second line converts that value to a number we can use for menus, and the third line jumps to the menu with a GPRM based jump as before.
It gets more complex if you have more than one menu that accesses the track, but it isn't unmanageable.

ok so i want to buy max brooks novel WWZ from the uk itunes store. but i cant becuase its only available in the USA..... why is that? why are some things limited to certain countries? im gonna go to the local book store and just buy a (much cheaper) hard back copy anyway, but it genuinely makes zero sense why itunes does this. very frustrating is a understatement as this happens with music and videos also! ......

It's the content providers decision, not Apple - the book publisher, record company, film studio have to grant Apple a license to sell their content in each country. So if the book publisher has only granted Apple a license to sell it in the US store but not the UK store, then Apple can't put in in the UK store.

Why are others getting their incredible even though we bought it on the same day?

I ordered my phone may 9th. I have been following other threads here and I am seeing that people who ordered may 9th-10th have been getting shipping confirmation already and I still have nothing?
I emailed CS online and they responded with:

Ok I'm not sure if they hired some foreign job to answer my question, but I asked why in the heck aren't I getting a shipping confirm date because most others are already getting theirs. It said I would get my order by 5/29 when I ordered it, but that's what it also told everyone else.

I think that that cs rep was probably misinformed about what is going on. It has nothing to do with getting an answer I liked, but the last time I called the woman actually asked "when did you order?" "then you should get yours on the 29th." That was great instead of just giving me the "its shipping in June." This can probably be attributed to Verizon's epic fail for shipping. That is why some people even got the Incredible before the April 29th release date. If mine doesn't ship on the 29th. Then I will call and complain. Until then, I just have to sit and make an attempt at patience.

And then after it is loaded, if I click a button with a mouse I'm not really sure if it has registered the action.
I have built applications of similar graphical complexity in either Delphi or Visual C and they load and run much much faster than a typical LabView app.
It sometimes seems that unless I have a CRAY sitting in my Lab the application is never going to start!
Anyone got any suggestion to speed it up?

Here are some ideas. Without seeing your application, it's the best I can
do...
If your UI/MMI/CHI is reacting slow, you might need to put a Wait (ms) in
your while loop(s). If you don't, the loops take 100% processor time, and
there is no time to handle the UI properly.
The only reason (I can think of) why loading might be slow, is that you have
large default values.
Overlapping controls or indicators dramatically slow down the updating.
Boolean array, esp. 2d, are just slow.

Why are my projects from FCPX 10.0 not shown in 10.1?

Hello,
I recently updated my Final Cut Pro X to version 10.1 (I have a 27" iMac Late 2012) and now, all my projects I had before are still existing in the folder "Aktualisierte Projecte" (in German, I don't know what's its name is in English, maybe "updated projects"), but if I click on the button with the same name in Final Cut Pro, nothing is shown.

I can't see the folder structure in the second image. The folder structure to update the projects needs to be:
Drive/Final Cut Projects/Project Folder Name
If the projects are inside a folder in Final Cut Projects take them out of there.

Firstly it is not just BT Comsumer that have blocked access to the site. Other major ISPs have also blocked assess to it. For example VM
If an ISP gets an order from the High Courts to block access to a site, then they have to obey and follow the ruling.

What are "dyld" and "brtool" and why are they breaking my Lion installation?

I have an up-to-date Snow Leopard Server installation with software RAID, and cannot complete the upgrade to Lion Server. At the "restart" step, the installation throws an error and says to try again.

Dear Friends
I'm getting this same error ("... dependent dylib #1 could not be loaded") on a 2x3GHz quad-core Mac Pro with 17GB of memory. I'm installing on top of 10.6.8 on a two-drive, two-slice Apple software RAID.
I'm downloading the Lion installer for the third time today and will try for the umpteenth time to install it. I've used another internal drive, a bootable DVD, and a USB flash drive, all to no avail.
If anyone knows a solution that doesn't involve erasing my drives, I'd appreciate your sharing it.
(Before I had a kid I would've installed Lion the day it was released. But now I'm short on time and waited more than six months after its release before trying to install it on our production Mac so I wouldn't encounter such problems. Hehe. I installed Lion on the day of its release on our MacBook Pro and didn't have any problems.)

Why are some photo events missing when I synch my iPad with the new iMac?

Very confused user here.
I've just bought the new IMac, When I connected my iPad2 to the iMac and opened iPhoto on the iMac it asked to import photos. This proceeded, but when I checked it became clear that not all the events had been imported, even though iPhoto was saying that all the photos had been imported. There doesn't appear to be any reason why certain events have been missed - no difference in title, or date. How can I make sure all the photos are imported?

If the iPad works like the iPhone you can move photos into the Camera Roll as shown here:
Then from there it should sync to your Mac. That's how I got the screenshot above to my iMac and into this post.
If you have an iCloud account and Photo Stream enabled on both your iMac and iPad new photos to the Camera Roll will automatically be synced with your iMac and imported into iPhoto as long as you have the iPhoto/Photo Stream preferences set this way:
Of course this is assuming the iPad functions similarly to the iPhone in this regard and I should think it would.
