Why are my crops moving

I've noticed that since I bought a new iMac desktop that my crops in aperture are moving. Something is happening after I set all the crops in a gallery. This is NOT a matter of slipping with my track pad. The crops don't move a lot. And they don't all move. But sometimes moving a little can screw up the composition. I'm using aperture version 2.1.4
Any ideas?

Per Apple KB Article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2518
It sounds like you're seeing an issue with Aperture 2.1.4 that was fixed in the 3.2.1 patch.
Aperture 3.2.1
Released October 28, 2011
Addresses issues that could cause the Crop tool to switch to the incorrect orientation or resize incorrectly.
I would highly recommend purchasing the upgrade through the Apple App store to an updated version. (If you upgrade to Mavericks 10.9, you can move directly to Aperture 3.5), unless your workflow absolutely requires that you stay with OSX 10.8 and Aperture Version 2.1.4

  • Why are the CROP and RED EYE TOOLS grayed out?

My sister, who is new to iPhoto, can't crop her photos because, she says, the crop tool icon is grayed out. She's using iPhoto 4, v. 4.0.3.
She lives in another state, so when I come up with a solution or solutions, I can try to talk through it on the phone - each of us on our computers.
It was suggested by someone on another forum that the com.apple.iphoto.plist file in her Preferences folder in her library might be corrupted and that deleting that file & then relaunching iPhoto could solve it.
I talked my sister through deleting the file & relaunching iPhoto but it didn't do the trick. When she selects a photo and clicks on Edit, both the Red Eye AND the Crop tools are grayed out.

It's been awhile since I used that level of iPhoto but I believe that you have to select an area on the photo before you can use either of these two tools. For crop simply select the desired area and for red-eye select a small area around the eyes.

  • Why are my objects moving past their keyframe mark?

I'm trying to create a twitch and slide effect with a company logo coming in and going out of frame. After the first twitch, during the slide, the object moves past it's keyframe, then moves backwards, then forwards again before it's commands to leave the frame.
I'm using 4 keyframes - The 1st to 2nd is the twitch into frame (Right to Left). 2nd to 3rd a the slow slide (that somehow goes past the 3rd keyframe the goes backwards, passes it a second time, then forwards. Still Right to Left), and the 3rd to 4th is the twitch out of frame (from Right to Left). There is no indication that the speed curves are going below 0 px/sec. I'm using easy ease on all the movements and haven't adjusted the curves to make the twitch effect yet.
Why is this happening and how do I remedy this?

In your comp window view the motion path. Set the comp viewer Zoom Factor to 200 or 400% if needed. Look for bezier handles on the keyframe. Press the g key to bring up the pen tool then hold down the alt/option key to reveal the convert vertex tool (looks like a sideways V) and click on the keyframe. The bezier handles will go away and your problem will be solved.
If the path is curved you may have to adjust bezier handles individually to remove the bounce.

  • Why are my events moving?

I sometimes open iCal to find events on a different date than they were entered. This can be both local and subscribed events.
I have seen subscribed events correct them selves with a 'refresh'.
And no, they weren't wrong or moved on the host iCal - These are shared between my wife and I... I know when our birthday's are.
Anyone else has this problem or know a fix? I have already trashed my prefs.

I am also having similar issues. I have an event that I repeat each month and another that recurs every other week. When I check the future months on the monthly event they are gone and the every other week event just disappears. I was hoping the find out some help on this here. Thanks. John

  • Why are my photos moving on me???

After I edit photos in an external editor, my photo is moved from its original location in the folder, to a different one.  The photo stays within the same folder but is moved to a new location within it.  This is really annoying as I have a couple thousand photos from a trip to Europe I have been going through, and after my external editor closes and I am returned to LR, I have to find the photo which has been moved to some random spot so I can put it back to where it originally was.  I want to keep my photos organized by location, so it really sucks when my photos from Turkey end up with my photos from Hungary.  Anyone know how I can stop this???

Files do not have a "location" within a folder.....files/photos are scattered all over your hard drive(s), but can be displayed in a certain order depending upon the capabilities of the viewing software. Lightroom is not as well equipped in this area as a dedicated file browser such as Finder or Windows Explorer,
As to keeping your photos "organised by location", that's what keywords, collections, location metadata are for. In lieu of using those, sorting by capture date would probably be the best bet.
the display capabilities of LR are perhaps  more than those of Finder or Explorer, not less. I say this because the tree arrangement within which folders relate to each other, can be displayed / not displayed as we choose.
If folders are cherrypicked individually for import (Add), then LR duly regards these as independent items. But the moment any folder appears in LR's list which contains one or more other folders in the same list, LR's folder display moves these into the correct relation. By using the "show parent folder" option in LR, independently shown folders can instead appear as a nested hierarchy which reflects the real situation. If this parent folder contains no imported images itself, it can be Removed from LR's display and its subfolders appear as loose items once more.
It is our choice how much or how little of the full folder path appears - we can simplify what is seen by not displaying the upper-level folders which are not relevant.
For example: I use an import preset whereby an image taken today would be auto-filed by LR (when copied from the camera card) into C:\users\public\documents\library\2012\08\11 - according to its capture date, YYYY \ MM \ DD. But my Lightroom folders panel does not show users, or public, or documents, or library; to do so would add only clutter. The top level displayed is "2012" (plus 2011, 2010 etc). Each newly arriving folder drops straight into the right (physical) place regardless whether LR has made it, or I have made it and then LR has Added it.

  • Why are my cropped images not printing at the size I have cropped them to?!

    Hey!
I know how to crop images to specific sizes using either the rectangular marquee or crop tool. However, I am needing to print a number of small images, so want to compile them into one document to save paper. Once the image is cropped, it shows up in 'image size' as being the required size, however, when I copy and paste it into another document in an attempt to arrange it on a page with other cropped images, the images come out at about half the specified size when I print them.
Is it to do with the view I am using, because it doesn't seem to matter whether I set it to 'print size' or 'actual pixels'?
I can't seem to find an answer to this, and I'm sure that I didn't have a problem with this when I was using photoshop more regularly a few years ago!

    Hello,
You need to ake sure the target document and the source documents have the same"resolution", in other words the same PPI.
You could also use the Edit>Place command, which will respect the print dimensions of the source photo, but import it as a Smart Object.

  • Why are my fields not moving with my Dynamic stamp ? Only the artwork appears

Why are my fields not moving with my Dynamic stamp ? Only the artwork appears

Sounds like you're a candidate for Lightroom...based on the time you don't
    want to spend in Photoshop.
Photoshop install media is likely created in large batches, perhaps in a
foreign country, so it's understandable that you get Photoshop 11.0.0 is on
    the media.
I don't know as I would use ProPhotoRGB as my working space in Photoshop.  I
was merely suggesting that you look at your color settings to make sure
things were the same on both machines.
How do you know your actions are the same?  Did you copy the action
recording from one computer to the other, or did you merely record the same
steps on each one?  Have you compared the details of each action step in the
Actions Palette to make sure they are the same?  The symptoms still sound
like something different than sRGB being the output color-space, or the fact
it isn't embedded on one or the other of the computers.
How are you viewing the JPG when it looks the same or different than the
RAW?  Are you looking at the side-by-side in Photoshop, or side-by-side in
Bridge, or are you using a mixture of viewers, one Adobe, and one not?  And
are you using the Canon Codec on Vista or not?  The Canon Codec would be
showing the camera-preview in the RAW not the RAW adjustments that Adobe has
    done.
While the OS shouldn't be causing a difference in how the action is run, a
difference between OSes may make a difference in the processing to show up.
The camera profile associated with a RAW file is visible in the
third-from-right tab in ACR over at the right.  The one with the little
    DSLR-camera icon on the tab.
Can you attach the two JPGs on a reply, here, or if not, upload a ZIP of the
two JPGs and the RAW to a file-sharing site like http://www.rapidshare.com/
    and post the download link(s)?

I have 100's of CDs that I have downloaded to my itunes library and they are in the library playable but they do not show up in the C drive under the iTunes Music folder under users.  Why are they in the libary and not in the itunes music folder. Win 7 OS.  When I look in the library under the get info screen it says they are in the folder itunes music, under the c: drive but when I actually go to that folder to look for them they are not there....HELP!

    Hello RumDog,
I think this article will help you find the media in your library.
Where are my iTunes files located?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1391
Discovering and changing the iTunes Media folder location
Note: You would usually only change the iTunes Media folder location to share music between accounts on the same computer. See this article for specific steps on how to accomplish this. Also, see this article if you want to know how to move your music to a new computer.
Mac OS X: Click the iTunes menu and choose Preferences.
Windows: Click the Edit menu and choose Preferences.
Click the Advanced pane. iTunes displays the location of your iTunes Media folder.
    You can then:
Note where your media folder is, such as for backing up your media.
Use the Reset button to reset it's location to the default (which is the iTunes folder).
Click the Change button to select a folder for a new location. Once you change this location:
If you make a new or alternate iTunes library, the new location will be used by that library.
Existing files will not be moved unless you choose File > Library > Organize library and choose the option to "Consolidate files."

  • Why are there so many flash updates?

Why are there so many Flash updates… I have had two in the last week and at least one more since the start of the year. It seems to have really got silly this last 12 months, is Flash really that unsecure and unstable that it needs this many fixes and updates?
I know you can tick the install in background box when updating but I like to know what is going onto my computer and given Adobe's knack of crashing my system when using PS and AI I don't really want them silently installing anything.

99% of the time the update gets prompted by Youtube or BBC when videos won't play on there sites and I follow the links through them. You would like to think that big sites like these would not allow false links to malware to crop up, but it isn't out of the question. Next stop, up to date anti virus…..
As far as Youtube goes I thought they had adopted HTML 5 now as standard and didn't rely on Flash?

  • ISE 1.3 Why are Windows endpoints defaulting to 802.1x machine authentication in wireless profile and not User or User&Computer

We are running ISE 1.3 tied to AD with WLC 7.6.130.0.  Our ISE has a GoDaddy (none wildcard) certificate loaded for https and EAP.  We are just running PEAP.  We have a mix of IOS, Android, and Windows 7/8 devices.  IOS and Android devices can self create a wireless profile and after entering credentials can connect without issue.  Our Windows 7/8 devices, when auto creating a wireless profile are selecting 802.1x machine authentication instead of User authentication or the best option which is machine or user authentication.  This is problematic as we do allow for machine authentication but have an authorization rule limiting machine auth to domain controller and ISE connectivity only.  This is to allow domain Windows 7/8 devices to have domain connectivity prior to user sign-in but force user auth to get true network connectivity.  The problem is why are the Windows devices not auto setting to user authentication (as I think they did when we ran ISE1.2), or the best option which is to allow both types of authentication?  I have limited authentication protocols to just EAP CHAP and moved the machine auth profile to the bottom of the list.  Neither have helped.  I also notice that the Windows 7/8 endpoints have to say allow connectivity several times even though we are using a global and should be trusted certificate authority (probably a separate issue).
Thank you for any help or ideas,

When connecting a windows device to the ISE enabled SSID when there is not a saved wireless profile on that machine, it will connect and auto create the profile.  In that profile, 802.1x computer authentication option is chosen by windows.  That has to be changed to computer or user for the machine to function correctly on the network.
On 1.2, this behavior was different.  The Windows device would auto select user authentication by default.  At other customer sites, windows devices auto select user authentication.  This of course needs  to be changed to user or computer in order to support machine auth, but at least the default behavior of user authentication would allow machines to get on the network and functional easily to begin with.

  • Why are HP printer cartridges country specific? Is there any way around this?

I have just moved from the UK to Newfoundland, Canada and I have brought my HP PSC 1610 printer with me.  I was advised not to bring any cartridges with me because they would explode during the flight so I had to buy new cartridges upon arrival.
I noticed that the cartridge numbers recommended for my printer were similar but not exactly the same but the (HP, etc.) websites I looked at did not mention that HP printer cartridges country specific.
In the UK black cartridge is an HP338 (C8765EE).
In Canada the websites told me that the black cartridge is a 94 (C8765WC).
I ordered a 94 cartridge (which took an indordinate amount of time to be delivered) and when I installed it my printer would not accept it ("not intended for use in this printer" error message) even though it fit perfectly.  I looked at the packaging in greater detail and noticed that I had been sent a 94 (C8765WL) and I also noticed (in a very small font size) "for sale only in Latin America".
    My questions are therefore:
    1) Why are HP printer cartridges country specific?
    2) Is there any way around this?  Eg is there anything I can do to my printer/ laptop to tell it to accept this cartridge?
    3) Are 94/ C8765WL cartidges compatible with 94/ C8765WC cartirdges?  Ie did the supplier sell me something that couldn't be used even if I had a Canadian HP PSC 1610 printer?
    4) Can I return the cartridges to the supplier given that it is based in Canada, they delivered it to me in Canada and yet they sold me a product that says "for sale only in Latin America"?
    Thanks

You will need to Contact HP to request a "Regionalization Reset". There should not be any charge for this, it is covered as part of the cartridge warranty. You will need to have access to your computer and printer while on the line with HP. You will also need to have a set of cartridges for the new region, once the reset is complete cartridges from the original region will no longer work.  HP's web page on the subject is here.

  • Why are 'saved as' .psd files so much bigger than original raw nef files?

I was under the impression that original raw files were the biggest possible. I appear to be very wrong. Why are 'saved as' .psd files so much bigger than original raw nef files?
I'm beginning to think that saving them as psd is a bad idea.
Yes, though I've heard all the arguments of keepng the original raw files (For ex. Did you throw away the negatives when you were using film) I se eno purpose in keeping them. Once I've made the initial adjustments--cropping, color correction etc. I don't feel a need to ever go back and never do. Most of my work is done in Photoshop and I like it that way--but suddenly finding myself with such huge files doesn't appeal to me at all--and other formats like tif...well never mind for now.

Good point made c.pfaffenbichler however, my thinking is this--there is time spent on the raw file and then there is much more time spent on (usually a psd) the file once in Photoshop. For me to then go back to the orignal raw file, after having worked on it on PS would mean getting rid of all the work (larger amount of work, time wise and artistic wise) done on PS which seems pointless. Although the psd file does show your layers and stuff it only shows the end results of that layer. It does not show from where to where you pointed your brush, from what point to what point you changed the color or part of an image etc. etc.Anyhow I understand why most people keep their raw files, but this is the main reason why I do not. It would mean hours of work on an image you already worked on (and usually were satisfied with) to perhaps make some minor alteration. Also please note that though I was noce a pro photog, no I do it mostly for fun. Getting the exact red in my Coca Cola can has never been of importance. On the other hand, if there were a way of working on a raw file within Photoshop and keep it (save it as) a raw file equivalent, then I would absolutely do so.
