Why are my emails disappearing?

Please tell me this is a fixable problem.  What's the use of having an iPad if I have to keep logging onto my pc to check my emails?

I'm still a bit unclear what is going on, but in general these sorts of problems are caused by checking mail on multiple devices, and having the account set up as IMAP on one device and as POP on another.  IMAP is ideal for multiple devices, as it leaves the messages on the server and syncs the mailboxes on each device with the server.  POP is not, as it is designed to remove messages from the server and store them locally only.  If the messages are disappearing from the iPad, I'd guess it is properly set to use IMAP, but some other device is using POP, and after it checks mail, the messages are removed from the server (and, thus, from the iPad).

  • Why are my emails disappearing from my folders?

I haven't deleted any emails or moved them. I tried repair folder as well. It just so happens that these email folders (2) are our biggest clients (a lot of emails lost).

This happens to me about once a month and I REALLY needc to know how to fix this!!! I've been in my Settings and everything there seems just fine!

  • Why are my email disappearing

I have noticed that my email inbox has no emails older than a week. Somehow my Mac is deciding to delete anything in my inbox that is over a week old. I have looked in the trash and do net see them– only the ones I manually deleted.
I don't ever remember setting that as a preference and I can't find any preference to change this behavior. I am using Yosemite 10.10.2 Mail on a MacPro (late 2013) 3.7GHz Quad core, 32 GB ram) I have a IMAP type of email account (not that I know what that means).
I want to be able to delete email when I want and save some for as long as I want.

Sorry, I see Inbox now. I misread it.
You have one set as POP? Check the settings on it in the Advanced tab. What is it set for in removing messages from the server once downloaded? That could be your problem.
An IMAP account will keep messages in the INBOX until you move or delete it.
If the POP account is set correctly, check the webmail site and see if your messages exist there. If they do and do not show up in your inbox, select the INBOX and choose rebuild mailbox from the menu under Mailboxes. Once done, quit Mail and restart and see if your messages reappear.
You should have all set up as IMAP if you want them all to sync. You said you didn't know the difference between IMAP and POP? I suggest you google it.
POP downloads messages to a device and deletes from the server per your setting. No mailboxes in a pop account will sync between devices.
IMAP accounts keep messages on the server. You normally would set all imap mailboxes to store messages on the server. Each device can read or delete a message which will keep sync with all devices.

  • Why are my emails not deleting from all devices when deleted from one?  I have iCloud set up and turned on. I have ipad2, iphone5 and a Mac. What am I doing wrong?  Thank you

Why are my emails not deleting from all devices when deleted from one?  I have iCloud mail set up and turned on. I have ipad2, iPhone 5 and a Mac desktop. What am I doing wrong?  Thank you.

It depends on the type of email account you are using, not on iCloud.  If you are using an IMAP or exchange account, when you delete from one device, it is deleted from all devices.  If you are using a POP (POP3) account, it won't.  (iCloud email, Gmail and Yahoo are all IMAP accounts.)

    Hello,
Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive & clear caches.)
Any change on normal boot after that?

  • Why are sent emails not stored in the Sent Items folder in iOS7

Why are sent emails not stored in the Sent Items folder?

    Thanks, Matt.
I'm now starting to notice the emails that don't come in order are all posted from sites that use multiple platforms to send the same message; email, Facebook, Twitter, etc. so maybe that has something to do with it. I'm thinking the hold up is possibly at their end.

  • Why are the emails I sent out being held in my outbox, and how do I resend them

why are the emails that I have sent out not going to the recepiants but instead being held in my outbox, and how do I resend them?

This problem is generally caused by not having a connection to the ISP mail sender (send and receive authenticate and operate independently).
    Mail > Window > Connection Doctor ...

Why are my emails getting caught in my outbox and not sending?

This started happening to me immediately after updating to 10.9.3. None of the suggestions that I could find through Google (orotherwise) helped at all. Mail.app simply does not try to empty the outbox. I would call AppleCare, but they'll just tell me that the software is fine and that it's unreasonable for me to expect to be able to send email.
Apple support is a dim shadow of it's former self, but it correctly reflects teh state of Apple development. I picked a horrible time to switch to Mac.

  • Why are my emails aborted when I'm trying to send pictures?

Why are my emails aborted when im trying to send pictures?

What is the size of the email attachments you are trying to send?  Many email providers limit the message content size some where in the 2-3 MB range, some larger some smaller.  If your photos are multile MBs that could cause the provider to reject the email.
Try resaving a rejected photo to a smaller size/resolution and see if it goes successfully.

  • Why are my emails dissapearing in cloud

why are my emails dissapearing in since i upgraded to cloud?

The most likely explanation is that you don't have Lion 10.7.2 but have an earlier system on your Mac - is this the case? If so please post your operating sytem: I assume you hae migrated from MobileMe - is this the case?

  • Why are the emails in my "trash" folder deleted automatically every Saturday?

Why are the emails in my "trash" folder deleted automatically every Saturday?  The employee at the Apple Store told me to contact my email carrier, but they told me it was an Apple issue.
    iPhone5c  iOS 8.1.2

I keep Outlook Express running on my desktop all the time.  The emails come into the inboxes of both my desktop and my iPhone.  Once the emails are received on the desktop and I read them on my phone, they automatically go into the trash folder.  If it really is trash, I manually delete them and they go over to the other trash folder.  Then I can empty all of them at once.  If it's really important, sometimes I manually move it to another folder.  But then Saturday comes along and the trash folder all of a sudden becomes empty.

  • Why Is My Email Disappearing

My e-mail messages are randomly disappearing in Apple Mail. These are all connected to non-Exchange accounts, like Gmail and my own domain (via Google Apps).
When this happens, if I try to quit Mail, the program hangs and will not close. I have to force-quit to get out.
I am running OS X 10.8.2 on a MacBook Air.

    Michael,
We had the same problem at my company just a few weeks ago. Here are some of the symptoms we experienced:
    1. (Note this only happened to ONE of our email accounts--The one that receives the most emails out of any address in our company.)
    2. The problem was happening on both Lion and Mountain Lion.
    3. We had the same email account on multiple different systems at different times with the same "lost email" result.
    4. When the email disappeared from Mail, it disappeared from Google Apps Gmail account as well.
    5. Extreme amounts of confusion and frustration was ongoing.
We finally tried changing the password to our Gmail account and that became our solution. We have not experienced the problem since.
Similar to yourself, we couldn't figure out why it was Apple Mail specific and didn't seem to happen with any other third-party app.
After about a week, we even changed our password back to the original just to do a little testing after-hours. Same result. We lost every email that was in or coming in to our inbox. Needless to say we've stayed with the new password and its working well.
I would suggest heading over to your account settings ASAP to create a new password. Please let me know if that works for you! It would be very interesting to find out if this is a wide-spread problem/solution.
    Blessings!
