Iphone 3g S viewing email pics are showing as blue boxes with question mark
I am trying to view an e-mail on my iphone 3g S and the pics are not displaying. Instead little blue boxes with question marks are showing. Any ideas on why this is happening?
The pictures couldn't be loaded due to one or more reasons. Some common reasons are: your email server timed out, the photo was taking too long to load, you had poor signal strength, the file was corrupted, the download failed, or the photo couldn't be displayed because the file type wasn't supported.

Why am I getting a blue box with question mark instead of logo image? It happens in my signature (in gmail) and in mailchimp (again, only with the logo).
The question mark in the box, if it looks like this: means that safari cannot find the linked image. On windows machines, this would be the equivilant of the small "page-with-a-red-X" logo that appears in the same scenario. Check the reference to the image and make sure that the image is in the correct location, and is accessable by the reference.

Since July on MacBook Pro facebook images, profile photos, cover photos are not loading. Only small blue square with question mark. Same thing in Safari, FireFox, Chrome. Everything is up to date including last version of Adobe Flash. And watching YouTube also a problem. Video is skipping, freezing for few seconds and jumps forward. At the same time on Toshiba with Windows Vista under the same account, same wi-fi connection everything works fine.
Please help with sugesstions to fix the issue.Seems like problem is solved but it might be temporarily. Anyway. Click on the image, it will open facebook photo browser. Image is not loading so right click on the blue box with question mark, save image as. It will start downloading but without any success since browser do not see the image. After this attempt refresh the page and close all tabs with facebook. Try to open facebook once again. For some reason after this weird actions all images displayed properly. Do not know for how long but now it works.

Craigsphone app pictures are blue boxes with question marks?
When I use the Craigsphone app for my iPhone, the images are now blue boxes with question marks. The pictures used to show up fine, but now don't. Is there a setting somewhere I need to change and if so, where is it? I've been through my phone and can't figure it out. I've also restarted and restored my phone and that hasn't worked.
Thanks in advance!I am also running into this problem. net every picture doesn't show though, just maybe three quarters worth.

Safari Image turns to Tiny Blue Box with Question Mark
Hi all,
I get tiny blue question mark a lot in Safari.
Many Website where i visit almost everyday, the images appear as "tiny blue box with question marks". My Firefox also fails to load the images and had the same problem with "tiny blue box with question marks". Before every site work fine. I have been searching through Google and many others search for almost 12 hrs for a solution to solve this problem but none of it really works out. Basically, I have tried everything, I just can't find and still not able to fix this issue in Safari and Firefox.
Is this a Safari 3.0.4/Firefox 2.0.0.9 problem, or is there some setting on my Mac wrong or is it a new virus recently?
If anyone has any solution to solve this problem, an very much appreciated...
CK Lee (From Thailand)Hi guys, I am also in Bangkok and working (I use the term loosely) with True. Like you, the images have not been loading over the weekend and I have been trying to track this down. I went through all the motions of restarting, clearing caches, etc., but that was no good.
On Saturday morning, I went into my office where I have access to another network (I don't usually use it as it is a bit flaky), but when I tried that, the images did load.
Back at home, I tried again and the blue squares reappeared. I checked some of my own web pages which also had the squares, but only selectively (images in the same directory were OK; those that were accessed via internal links were not). Using FTP I checked the website: images were all OK as were the links on the pages themselves.
As an experiment, I uploaded one image. When I tried the page again, the image appeared. I then uploaded both of the affected directories and the pages were back to normal after a couple of reloads. What this indicates to me is that the cache, either at True or upstream, has a problem.
I do think however that it is True as the other server I used would also access the CAT caches and they seemed OK.
A series of notes to the True helpdesk might jolt them into some action on Monday morning after they have had their starter coffee. I have had some success in the past with [email protected]
All the best. -
Suddenly I see the usual blue box with question mark inside mail messages instead of pix
Suddenly I see the usual blue box with question mark inside mail messages instead of pix.
That did not happen before.
It happened only on certain pages with Safari, like the google news feed which did not display pix.
However, this new mail problem is really disturbing.
I checked Little Snitch and port 80 is open.
I checked java pref.
I am at a loss.
PLEASE HELP!Suddenly I see the usual blue box with question mark inside mail messages instead of pix.
That indicates that your Mail preferences are setup to not display remote images in email messages. You should check Mail->Preferences->Viewing and make surre the box to 'Display remote images in HTML messages' is checked.
I checked java pref.
Java has nothing to do with Mail, or displaying images in it or any browser. -
All attachments now blue boxes with question marks
Something happened over the weekend to Apple Mail on my laptop... ALL attachments now just show up as funky little blue boxes the question marks. Instead of showing me a JPEG, PNG, or PDF inline in the message, it's just a little blue box. If it's an XLS file, for example, it doesn't show me the file name inline, it's just a funky little blue box. This is true for BOTH incoming and outgoing messages. If I create a message and attach a PNG screenshot that I just took, I can't see the image in the message, all I see is a funky little blue box. For the incoming messages, these images that I can't see are not linked to an external server, they're attached images.
Here are two screenshot examples:
http://johnhmoore.com/AppleMail1.png
http://johnhmoore.com/AppleMail2.png
In both cases, I should be able to SEE the images.
I'm in Apple Mail 3.2 (919/919.2) on OS 10.5.2 on a MacBook.
Thanks,
JohnI'm having the same issue and came across this page while searching for solutions.
What really bothers me is that the attachments are there I just can't see them!
i found this older discussion that mentions the same basic issue. Just thought I'd post it on the offchance it could help. (I haven't figured out how to find my plist so it doesn't help me much.)

Small blue boxes with question marks
I was on a web site recently, and two white bunnies playing Badminton popped up over top of the web page. I accidentally click on them trying to move them out of the way, and I wound up on a strange web site in a foreign language. After closing that page and restarting Safari, some of the images and graphics were no longer displayed. Instead small blue boxes with question marks in the center of them are in place.
As well, I can no longer log on to my gmail account. It just fashes a bunch of stuff like this below, over and over and nothing displays.
Welcome to Gmail
Did something change on my Safari setup?
If anyone has any experience with this I could really use your help.
Thanks

Getting blue boxes with question marks instead of pictures in ipad 2
I am getting blue boxes with question marks instead of pictures on my ipad 2. I do not have Wi-Fi.
I am getting these question marks on many web sites. I thought it probably had to do with no Wi-Fi but I didn't have this problem until the last month or so and I've had the ipad since December.

Mail has blue boxes with question marks
I have a new MacBook Pro. In mail when I receive anything with images, I just see blue boxes with question marks. Yes, i have tried reloading Mail, I have tried clicking on and off from Display remote Images, I have checked all my preferences and it just won't work.
How can i fix this - there must bean answer.
I am running Mail 5.2...it doesn't do this on my son's machine which is the same. OS 10.7.4Hello Linc,
I'm not one to normally thread jack a post, but I am having the exact same issues, i found your posts while trying to solve the problem. Like tmack101, when I boot into safe mode the images load correctly, so something is loading up at startup thats causing the issue. I am very PC proficient, but am still new to OS X. I will post my results below to your terminal commands:

Hello, sometimes when I open up mail messages or web pages I get little blue boxes with question marks where there should be images? What am I doing wrong? Is there a setting I'm missing? Thanks!!
I have the same problem. I tried refreshing the email but it doesn't work. I'm able to see the images on my iPhone. Maybe my internet connection is causing it. It began happening a month ago but I haven't changed anything with my internet nor notice any difference in anything else I do internet wise.

Blue boxes with question marks
I am trying to use a site that is my WEbsite host and when I navigate to that site I get all of these little blue boxes wiht quesiton marks and it is usually the items like .. "click here"places that are inportant.
I have tried to use IE and the same thing happens.
The site I am trying to use is WWW.Brandblast.com
I have contacted them and they have given me all the assistance they can. This may appear to be an issue with Safari in Osx. I have seen a few threads about this and am unable to make those suggested fixes work for me. I have checked the security settings. I have checked other options in the set up of Safari. I have emptied the cache. I need to be able to navigate on this website.
Any help or ideas?
Help me!
BlueinseattleJennifer, Welcome to Apple Discussions!!
That site, as David says, should work fine.
I see that you're brand new here,
so try these for starters, OK?
1. Empty your cache & History settings via the Safari menu
2. Trash your Icons Folder:
HD>Users>Home>YourName>Library>Safari -->Icons
Restart Safari and a new folder will be automatically regenerated.
(This folder saves favicons of all the sites you visit. Needs cleaning periodically -- or you can change that file's preferences to "Read Only"
rather than "Read & Write." This will keep it from growing in size.)
3. You might want to check all three "auto" preferences in Safari. Sometimes those lists gets very long and need pruning. (I turned all autofill boxes off, and have no problems.)
4. Launch Font Book and check all fonts for duplicates. A duplicated font will have a bullet beside the font family and you can resolve duplicates by selecting the font and at the menu bar, go to Edit > Resolve Duplicates.
Do this for each font with a bullet next to it.
If you're still having problems:
5. Shut down your computer . . . unplug the computer, modem, and router, if you have one. Let everything sit for 2-3 minutes. Plug everything back in, start up your modem & router, then restart your computer.
Hope this helps -
Blue box with question mark instead of pictures
Hi,
I'm having trouble seeing images in emails that are sent to me, they appear as a small blue box with a question mark in it, I'm new to mac, so I don't know much about formats and such. I tried sending one from mail to my hotmail and used Safari to open it, the picture was fine, then I forwarded it to my gmail account on Mac's Mail, and it was also fine. So why can I see some and not others?
Another issue is the time it takes to send an email, it takes about 1-3 minutes to send an email, even though it's less than 1MB in size, is this normal? My hotmail sends them quite quickly.
Thanks
Message was edited by: ijanawraUsually it means that the image/file is in a format your browser or mail plugins cannot read. There are a few Windows proprietary formats you cannot read with a Mac (unless you're running Windows of course); there have also been problems reported with images being sent by an AOL account that would not show, so there could be several reasons. You might want to check with the sender and ask what format the image/file is - readable formats are the popular .pdf and .jpg (among many others). Sometimes there are also problems with PC's sending attachments to a Mac; in Mail, there is an option to check "send Windows friendly attachments" - I bet there is no such option in Windows.... I've had this problem off and on and I attribute it to the fact that I choose to be in the less than 10% world's population with a Mac.
