Why are my gifs saving so slow?

I'm using Photoshop CS6
I use the timeline to make my frames and adjust the delay number at the bottom of each thumbnail, ive tried (No Delay, 0.01, 0.1, 02) but once I save they slow down.
When I press play from the timeline it plays fast and smooth...
When I click "Save For Web" and press play on the bottom right it plays the same (Although for some reason when the delay is set to No Delay or 0, it plays SUPER fast)
When I click "Preview..." on the bottom right and it opens up in IE it plays very slow even though its delay is set to 0 or the others i've listed above..
When I save and open it plays just like when I click preview, slow and delayed. I've tried openning with IE, Firefox, and Chrome and same result.
Is this a fault in Photoshop or am I doing something wrong?
I even tried saving the frames from my animation and using the Online Generator from http://imgflip.com/gifgenerator ... and the image can play REALLY fast setting the delay all the way down, heck, I had to set it to around "277 delay" for it to play the way Photoshop saves it thats how slow Photoshop is saving my gifs.
So I know its not a case of the gif having too many frames, or the file being too big.. (Which I dont really see how thats relevant anyways since it should only decrease the image quality not the animation speed)
So... does anybody have any ideas?
EDIT: I read somewhere that its because I dont have Quicktime, is this true? I don't want to DL Quicktime if not because I dont need it.

I knew thats what the response was going to be...
I said in my original post that I used another gif maker to upload the same frames I'm using and the image it generates is able to play a lot faster than when I try with Photoshop so it's not an issue about different browsers.
I dont see what posting my settings will do since the site that generated the gif that plays faster is the same file size as the one saved by Photoshop... and as far as I know the only setting relevant to the animation speed is the Delay which I have set to 0, 0.1, and 0.1 which are the fastest speeds yet photoshop saves them more delayed than its suppoed to.

  • Why are animated gifs not displaying animations in the preview?

Why are animated gifs not displaying animations in the preview?
My coworkers and I are not seeing a animation in the preview pane in Adobe Bridge CS6 even when clicking the play button in the preview window. However, we do see a graphic of the first frame and one person sees 1 frame when clicking play and one other frame and then the animation stops, however, that is not the complete animation.
    I'm using Windows 7 32 bit
My coworkers are using a mac.
One coworker has apple OS Mountain Lion with a Intel Quad-Core Xeon – 64 bit system.
Is this fixable or in the works as a patch? Otherwise we have to open these docs in a browser in order to view them properly.

I've just come to the realization that some animated gifs do play fine and others do not. A coworker of mine suggests that if it's an animation made via Adobe Photoshop, it'll work in bridge but will not if it's made using something else.

  • Why are animated GIFs in Firefox 11 slow? I downgraded to Firefox 10 and the animated GIFs suddenly play fine again, so I am positive that the update messed up the playback delay of animated GIFs somewhere.

Self-explanatory. I am positive that the GIF I am viewing is faster than what it's supposed to be. I viewed the same animated GIF in another browser and it plays fine. It just plays slower in Firefox 11. I downgraded to Firefox 10 and the animated GIFs were fine again. I upgraded back to 11 and yet again the animated GIFs slowed down. This happens for all of my animated GIFs.
I like viewing my animated GIFs, and since I don't have any problems yet with Firefox 10, I'll be sticking with it for a while...

Yes I have exactly the same problem, and it has NOT been solved yet in Firefox 14. Please Mozilla, what is the use releasing more and more "major upgrades", Firefox 11, then 12, then 13, then 14 (one per month !) if you don't even care to fix the big problems ? That is just marketing crap, nothing more. You guys used to do amazing job, but the new policy is just unbearable, no offense meant : you need to react !

  • Why are animated GIF's...

...Not working when I forward them using Mail? I've tried forwarding them to myself and when opened the GIF's are no longer animated and the size and format of things has changed. This also happens in redirect. Any Ideas?

    Try Thunderbird which is free.
I'm not a fan of using HTML for email messages and IMO, a big mistake by Microsoft which came back to haunt Microsoft and Windows users with various security issues.
If you automatically render all HTML received (with any email client with OS X) and a spammer uses HTML for message composition and includes embedded images or objects that must be rendered from a remote server, if the Mail.app Junk Mail filter does not automatically mark the message as junk and you open the message, this can reveal that your email address is valid to the spammer causing more spam to be received.
Copied from Why HTML in E-Mail is a Bad Idea.
Because it introduces accessibility problems. When you write in plain text, the receiving mail client renders the text in whatever font the reader chooses. When you format email with HTML, the sender controls the formatting. But this is a trap: You only think your message will render the same way to the viewer as it appears to the sender. In reality, the receiver can end up squinting because the font looks so tiny, or vice versa. HTML is not rendered the same way from one viewing client to the next - all guarantee of accessiblity goes out the window. This is especially problematic for visually impaired persons.
Because it can introduce security issues and trojan horses -- it's a gateway to danger as any Outlook user can tell you. HTML can include any number of scripts, dangerous links, controls, etc.

  • Why are animated GIFs still broken?

    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1229922 <-- this
'nuff said, this has been a problem ever since Preview lost its ability to animate GIFs. It may be a WebKit problem (i.e. yeah, Apple, just go ahead and let yourself off the hook...right), but regardless, how come it has not been addressed sooner? Safari chokes after about 4 frames of animation; if the GIF loops, it starts over fresh, but it chokes again.
I am using 10.5.8, but I am aware this is still a problem for all 10.6 OSes and iOSes. I don't know about Safari for Windows; not relevant at the moment.
Why is this still a problem after three-and-a-half years of Safari development have passed?

Well, here are the issues I have run into.
    1) Gifs load half way and then animate on the base but not on the top.
    2) Gifs animate waaaaaaay too fast.
I have found no solution for the 1st issue, and it does not always occur.
As for the second one it has to do with browsers all reading the "0 delay" setting of the animation at uniquee speeds. Most round it to 10/100th of a sec, while Safari loads it at 3/100th resulting in a faster images, but a non-standard speed. Which ***** since I am running animations that follow using a set time out only to have safari throw everything off. I think one other browser runs at something like 6/100ths so Safari is not the only one. Faster could be nice if they all got on the same page, but as they are it is pointless. Pretty much meaning if you want an animated gif you have to avoid the "0 delay setting at all costs, and pretty much anything under 1/10th because it will not display the same in many browsers. It could be this fast speed in Safari that is causing the loading and instability issues with sime.

  • Why are SMB connections so much slower than AFP on my Mac Servers?

I work in a school with a mix of Mac and PC clients and servers.  My Mac servers all serve out file sharing to both AFP and SMB.  When my Mac clients connect to the Mac servers via SMB, it takes several seconds, sometimes up to a minute before the login screen appears.  When I connect via AFP, the login window appears instantaneously.  I have also noticed that when the Macs connect to Windows servers, which are obviously SMB, the same long delay occurs.  It's manageable, but because it's so quick with AFP, I wonder why the delay?
My biggest concern is that Yosemite connects via SMB by default.  Right now everyone is running Mavericks, which will still assume you're asking it to connect via AFP when you don't specify the afp:// in the address.  My Yosemite beta machine does the opposite, it assumes SMB when the address doesn't specify.  When all my clients make the switch next year, I'm expecting much longer than usual connection times for my mac users who are not technically inclined and who are used to just typing a word or phrase in the "Connect to:" dialog box, rather than an actual address (such as afp://server, they would currently just type "server" and it fills in the rest for them).
Thanks for any help with this.  I would love to find out how to speed up the SMB connections.

  • Why are My iTunes Downloads so Slow?

I have a 30 Mbps internet connection.  When I run a speed test against my connection I almost always hit 30 Mbps.  However, when I download podcasts and other files from iTunes my download speeds max out at just over 7 Mbps.  I ran the diagnostics in iTunes and everything checked out fine.  Any ideas on why I getting such a slow download speed?

Same experience here with anything being downloaded from Apple! For at least the last 5-6 months we have gone from very fast down loads from Apple Software Update Servers which were humming at around a Megabyte to 1.5 MB a second for the better part of the last DECADE! Which was fantastic and essential for upgrading dozens of computers on the many networks we manage. Now every single network for the last 5-6 months is only getting fractions of theses throughputs. Down to 30-80 KBs (Per Machine) which is a nightmare. It makes no difference geographically in Sydney  or which Service provider. We have called the service providers and they have tested the pipe to Apples servers and they get the same results. We were comfortably getting 1GB downloads with in 20-40 minutes per machine with up to 5 or six machines on an ADSL 2+ connection at a time... easily, now its taking 3-4 hours to get a gigabyte per machine with only 2 or 3 computers at a time.
Its a nightmare and yes we use an in-house OSX Servers SUS and down load the big updates and distribute them internally but there are now so many different updates required for different machines its difficult to do this and we just upgraded 2 computers to Lion and they wanted to down load over 2.5GB in updates each with out the system software updates which we had previously downloaded. SUS on each computer was indicating just under 24 hours to down load 2.5 GB from Apple. We were able to down load this with in an hour previously.
Its become a nightmare harking back to the performance we were getting from the internet in the Nineties. It is suspected that since Apple removed their mirrors from around the world we all have to go to the States to get our Software, iOs and iTunes updates and Apples growth is impacting on their ability so serve up the bandwidth with everybody downloading ridiculously large 3.5 GB Lion installers.
Interestingly Microsoft servers are dishing up the same poor bandwidth performance as Apple yet Google is the same its always been at around 800-1MB a second and many other big companies blow the Apple servers out of the water on the same networks.
Something has to be done about this as our clients are beginning to complain seriously about it as its costing significantly more to run an Apple Network.
And no one from Apple wants to talk about it. And this post will most likely self destruct once Apple reads it!

  • Why are my video podcasts playing slow?

After installing the latest update in iTunes for windows, my video podcasts are playing in slow motion, but the audio is normal. I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, shutting down, restarting.....nothing works. Has anyone experienced this before?

Do you have Flash installed?   Check HD > Library > Internet Plug-Ins
If the Flash Player app is not in the Internet Plug-ins folder, download and install from here.
When you post for help, please state which OS X is installed.

  • Why are my clips shaking after slow motion?

I captured clips from my Canon 7d and converted the clip through mpeg stream clip, pro res, 60 frames, full HD. When I imported it into FCP and set the speed to 50% (or any speed, except normal) the top of the clip shakes the entire time, before I made the clip in slow motion there was no shake.
Any ideas why this is happening?

Did you shoot 720p 60? That is the only format that shoots 60fps.
Conform with CINEMA TOOLS. doing a speed change in FCP doesn't do it right.

  • Why are DNG images saved at 240ppi?

I'm just learning to shoot in RAW. The first big problem I'm encountering is that after I manipulate my RAW image and want to save it as a DNG image, it gets saved at 240 ppi (and not at 300 ppi). How can I tell PE 6.o to save at 300 ppi?

It does not matter at what PPI the picture is saved. It could be saved at
none (defaults to 72). The pixels that are saved are important. PPI only
    comes into play when printing.

  • Why are my Spotlight searches getting slower and slower?

My Spotlight searches were becoming slower and slower. I solved the problem by downloading OnyX , running the disc optimization application under the "automation" section and resetting the Spotlight index. When I rebooted my G4, Spotlight re-indexed my computer contents. My Spotlight searches are now very quick again.

You have probably answered your own problem in a way....
As you save more and more files to your computer Spotlight has more and more information and files to run through, when these are indexed Spotlight then has a sort of record for what you are searching for so when you indexed spotlight it then didn't have to do so much work.

  • Why are forms with calculations so slow?

I am using a form with a number of dynamic fields. After entering a value, it takes over 30s to update and allow me to enter the next value. This delay is present even when filling in fields that are used in calculations.
The delay is present even when filling fields that are NOT used in calculations.

    Christopher,
I will agree with other posters that, in the absence of any need to make "cross-platform" transfers, it would be better to format the drives as HFS+ (Mac OS Extended) before you use them.
I don't think, however, that this will have any effect on transfer speeds (it might, but I don't think so). If you purchased these drives as USB2 devices, then they undoubtedly use a USB2 interface. The drive itself, however, might deliver slower performance. In other words, the "bottleneck" wouldn't be the bus speed, but the drive's ability to record data. This would be similar to the difference between 5400 RPM and 7200 RPM drives, both connected to the same bus. A faster drive will deliver faster speeds over that same bus, and the Key drive you have might be very slow.
It might be a case of getting what you pay for. Were these relatively inexpensive drives? Perhaps a more expensive, well-known brand name drive would perform better.

  • Why are URLs not saved in the address bar immediately upon typing?

This might be a tricky one to explain so please bear with me.
Sometimes, when I click on a link or type an address, the page will fail to load for any number of reasons. However, when this happens, sometimes Firefox doesn't save the URL of the page I attempted to visit in its address bar. Instead, the address bar is either blank or shows "about:blank". This means that hitting the Refresh button does nothing (since Firefox thinks there is no URL to refresh!).
Another symptom of this problem is if you open a link in a new tab (or window), then immediately attempt to bookmark the page while it is still loading. Say, for example, a page is taking a bit too long to load and you decide to bookmark it for later viewing. It turns out that what you're actually bookmarking is - again - the URL "about:blank".
This is incredibly frustrating behaviour. My expectation as a user is that *the moment you click or type a URL, that URL should be concretely cemented into the address bar*, and even if the page fails to load, takes a long time, or other problems occur, the refresh button should always work, the bookmark function should always work, and the window or tab should *always* have a concrete "identity" of that URL you clicked or typed.
    Does this make sense?

I'm using Firefox 22 on Windows 7 64-bit, by the way.
You can very easily replicate this "bug" (or "feature"... ahem) by shift-clicking any hyperlink which opens up a new Firefox window. Immediately hit the "stop" button to stop the page from loading.
If you're fast enough, the address bar will be completely empty and you can't "refresh" or try again or anything.
In my opinion, the URL should be placed into the address bar the very moment that new window opens. I'd appreciate an explanation of why this is not already the case and if it will or will not be the case in the future.
