My Mac computer is connected to the internet, but my iPhone and laptop are not allowed to connect all of a sudden...whats the problem??

Why are the date and time not updating in backups.backupdb folder?

I just started using Time Machine on my early 2011 MacBook Pro running 10.7.2. After the initial full back-up and first few updates, the backup folder (on an external 1.5 TB Firewire drive) continues to show the original "date modified" of the very first back-up and lists the size as a ridiculous 2.48 GB. (Using BackupLoupe, I know it actually is 280 GB, reflecting the size of my internal HD). Any idea why this folder's info is not updating in the finder (even using "Get Info")? Are my back-ups really there? (It certainly seems so according to BackupLoupe).

First, the best way to view or restore from your backups is via the Time Machine display, per Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #15. Using the Finder is not recommended.
Do not worry about the dates. First, the date modified only applies to the "parent" folder; that's not the Backups.backupdb folder, but the one inside it that's named for your Mac.
Don't worry about the sizes, either. On Leopard and Snow Leopard, the size of a backup folder was the total size of all the items that were on your Mac at the time of that backup (less exclusions). On Lion, however, it's the "unique size" -- the size of items that appear only on that backup.

Why are my apps and others not showing on itunes?

I recently moved my itunes folder to an external hard drive. Since then my apps, ringtones and books are not showing on itunes when loaded up on my laptop. Music, films and tv programmes are all fine and playback fine.
I have checked the itunes media folder on the external hard drive to make sure they are there to which they are, they are also in there respective folders inside the media folder.

In Support, neither Apple Mail nor Addressbook are listed on OS apps. And if you go to Feedback > Product Feedback, there are 31 apps listed, but Apple Mail and Addressbook are not listed there either. Mac OS X is, so you need to use that for these apps.
But I think the lack of listing is not so bad, but is indicative that Apple doesn't seem to embrace these apps the way it does it's other OSX built in apps. They are basically good apps. I use them as my default apps along with iCal in order to always be in sync with the latest OSX release/update. I used to use 3rd party PIM apps but then had to always wait until they released their update to be in sync with the latest Apple OS. After awhile I realized the smarter approach was to use Apple's software as much as possible since they will be designed to work with the latest OS upon the release of the latest OS.
But the built in apps: iCal, Addressbook and Apple Mail, while sufficient, are not full featured robust apps like their 3rd party competitors. I have to assume some this is financial since they are included in the OS where as 3rd party apps cost $40 and up, plus upgrade costs after a certain cycle lifespan.
Personally, I never want to use a calendar, contact manager or email 3rd party clent again so that I am fully in the Apple family with hardware and software all made to work together.
If the reason these type apps are not more robust is because Steven didn't feel we needed more, or because there are only so much design and programmng resources Apple can apply to essentially "free" apps, I would welcome a paid for "Pro" version of these apps to pay for more features.
Example: while iCal and Addressbook sync with all your devices, Apple Mail doesn't. Now that I have a new 2nd computer (MBP), I would REALLY love it if all my folders on the left column were identical on both my Mac Pro and MacBook Pro.
There are other feature requests I would make, and bet you would too.
I hope this is helpful to all and to Apple in terms of making their indigenous apps more robust for us, listing them in the OSX apps list in Support and Feedback and embrace them as signature Apple apps fully supported, developed and proud of.

My Mail syncs, I don't know why yours doesn't. All the folders on the left of my Mail App are identical on all of my Macs and my iPhone.

All of a sudden the transform tool and free transform tool are grayed out and will not allow me to scale, rotate, or do anything to an image I just scaled?

I've been using Photoshop for years, but tonight I ran into an issue that I don't understand. I was working with a file that I had been working with for months. I added a new image and resized it to fit as I needed just as I always have (select layer with image > EDIT > TRANSFORM > SCALE.) All was working fine. I added a second image to the file I was working on (I added it by dragging it into the file from another window just as I had added the first image.) However, this time when I tried to select EDIT > TRANSFORM > SCALE this option was not available to me. Only the FREE TRANSFORM PATH or TRANSFORM PATH options were available. When I selected the SCALE in the TRANSFORM PATH menu (just to see what would happen) it started to scale a completely unrelated layer that DID have a path to it. However, the layer of my image was still selected and NOT the layer with the path. This image layer has no path even on it or around it in any way. I tried to select the folder layer and the same thing happened. It selected this one path and tried to scale it. I selected the layer I just previously scaled and tried to scale it again and it will only allow me to select the transform path option. I selected it to see again what would happen and once again it selected this completely unrelated path on a completely different layer. WHAT????? This makes absolutely no sense! I have tried restarting both my computer and PS and it won't stop happening! I really need to get this file finished and uploaded to my developer ASAP so I really hope that someone has some insight as to why this is happening.

Sorry, but that is NOT what web-safe colors refer to. In the
old days many
users had 8-bit graphics cards capable of displaying only 256
colors.
Web-safe colors were those included in the most common 256
color palette.
Today hardly anybody uses 8-bit graphics cards so designers
are safe using
full-color (24- or 32-bit) palettes. Your comment that colors
are subjective
is correct if you mean that colors will often display
somewhat differently
computer to computer. This is because of the wide variation
of graphic
cards, monitors, room lighting, etc. What looks like dark red
on my screen
might look brown on another. This is unavoidable.

Why are purchased Audiobooks and Movies not downloadable in the Cloud?

When I took a look at the new Purchased section in iTunes and found that movies and audiobooks were not there. Is there a reason for this or is it Apple launching an incomplete servic?

Movies aren't included because of licensing issues, basically the movie studios haven't agreed to it yet. Don't know much about audiobooks but it may well be a similar thing.

Why is my iPhone 4s still not allowing me to turn on Wi-Fi after ios 6.1.1???

So downloaded 6.1 and got whole wifi connectivity problem. The 6.1.1 update came and so i gladly updated...still hasn't fixed the problem...restored about 6 times, spent time on phone talking to my provider who couldn't help me either...what now??? Anyone else still having this problem since updating?

Why are there gaps in sustained notes when I join regions of my tracks?

When I edit my tracks to solve my latency issues, I usually have about 50 different regions on a track, so I usually use the "Join" command. I have been surprised to find that many of these joined regions will leave an unexpected gap where there was no splice at all. THere could be about 7 notes in a row on a region, and for some strange reason a long sustained note in the middle will go from sounding exactly as I played it to having a gap just from joining a bunch of regions. I have been solving it by joining a few gaps at a time, but all of the double checking to be sure that something didn't get left out has really taken up a chunk of time. Does anyone have this issue or know about it, and what I can do to deal with it? Well, I am dealing with it fine, I guess - I am looking for something more reliable.

It's a good idea and it almost had me fooled. However, with the slider all the way to the left i-tunes still places a small crossfade in there.
There's two issues to solve for true gapless playback:
-Player gap. The crossfade being set to zero in iTunes actually solves this one, or so close that I can't tell the difference.
-Encoder gap. MP3 and AAC encoders only work by using "frames". Every "frame" is 1150 samples long. Since tracks are not always even multiples of 1150 samples, blank space is added to the end to fill it out. Unless the encoder accounts for this and puts something in the container format to specify where the end of the song really is, there's a gap there on playback. iTunes encoder does not account for this. Nero's AAC encoder does put gapless info into the MPEG 4 file, and LAME (MP3 encoder) does put gapless info into the LAME tag, but iTunes playback engine doesn't read this information or use it.
That encoder gap is what you're hearing with the crossfade at zero. It's very small, but still there. Until Apple actually adds gapless support, there's no fix for this.

By Design the iPhone can Only Sync to One iTunes Library at a time.
