Why are my letters so tiny on Google Maps

I'm not quite sure how to describe this problem so please bear with me. Up until yesterday my Google maps appeared to be fine. Then last night I noticed something strange (after a family member had been on it looking for directions). Normally, when you do a search on an address, the result is the map showing you the location and to the left in the white area is the address you typed in. Above all of that is a light blue area that gives you options: Get Directions, My Map, and above the map portion: Print, Send, Link. For some reason, that entire blue strip of info is almost completely hidden. I can only barely see the tops of the lettering. It's like the map is overlapping it. Plus, the lettering in the white portion (to the left of the map) and up in the search box where you can type a new address is EXTREMELY tiny. How did this happen and how can I get it back to the way it was? I asked the person who was using the computer and they have no idea what they did, if anything. I would greatly appreciate someone's assistance with this. I'm using Firefox, on a Mac OS X version 10.5.8.

The zoom level for that domain may have been set to a lower level by the other user, and will need to be reset. See this: <br />

Well, you have gotten your answer. It is not available in your market. You would need to contact Google with your complaint, as Apple is not the developer of that app.
Google decides when and where they make their app available.

  • What are these new red pins in google maps

So I'm exploring ios5 on my new iphone 4s. In google maps I'm laying down some red pins for location based reminders and suddenly I'm seeing red pins all around my location that I cant get rid of. I'm imagining this is some sort of advertsing based thing from google. The pins are distracting, are for nothing I'm interested in in any way, and there is no way to differentiate them from pins I have laid down myself (that aere actually of interest to me).
Does anyone know whats up with these? Is there any way to delete them, control them or turn them off. I really dont expect the built in software that I pay a fortune to use through my purchase of the phone to have its functionality diminished by something like this. I live in NYC if anyone that pays a fee gets a red pin I cant remove on my phone, There will be nothing but red pins and the thing will become worthless.
I have never seen this before so I'm guessing its a new thing but I really havent tried to use the phone this way before. Has it been around for a while?

never mind. somehow home was on the top screen in maps and i think the pins were a result from that search.

  • Why are white letters "BF" in a red square in my address field of Safari?

My address bar has the letters "BF" in white font within a red sqare at the beginning of all addresses. Why?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The Guest login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

Please see the forum regulations for image sizes.  Also, it is a good idea to direct people to what they should see in an image.  That was a huge image, and as far as I can tell (after looking around it for a while) only the smallest part of it in the taskbar actually exemplifies what you are referring to.  Is this correct? (edit: I now see your note about the terminal n -> s too).

  • Why are the letters in the ipad music app mixed up?

So I have recently began putting music on my ipad and I love it. This is a minor problem, but it sort of bothers me a little.
Anyone with an Ipad that uses the music app would know that the songs are organized in alphabetical order, and at the beginning of each new letter of songs, there's a sort of divider with the letter on it. On my Ipad, the songs are in order, but in the middle of the C section, the D divider might just be sitting there. The dividers literally go:
    A, B C, D,D, E, F, G, H I, J, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, R, T, U, S, T, U, Y, T, U, W, Y
And they're supposed to be in alphabetical order. With no repeating letters.
Any solutions? Does anyone else have this problem?
    Thanks!

Just checked mine, no problems. You may want to try resetting your iPad by holding the power button and home button until you see the apple then let go. Another option is to completely close the app by double tapping the home button to get the recent apps tray open, then tap and hold the music icon until it wiggles and then tap the x to delete.

  • Why are my letters not coming up in bold white?

As I am typing in letters on Photoshop CC, they are coming up all different colours and even sometimes faded. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Good day!
I am not sure I understand what you are trying to describe.
Could you please post a screenshot with the pertinent Panels (Layers, …) visible?
    Regards,

  • Why are the letters so big when I go on AOL using Firefox?

When I log on AOL using Firefox, the letters look big and bold.

    Is the page zoomed?
You can adjust the zoom level of a site using the buttons on the application menu (the one with the "3-bar" button): the - button reduces the zoom level, the + buttons enlarges it, and the center button resets it to 100%.
Zoom also can be adjusted with keyboard shortcuts or a the scroll wheel on a mouse, which sometimes explains how it got zoomed in the first place. More info: [[Font size and zoom - increase the size of web pages]].
Another possible issue is whether Firefox is downloading a custom fonts. Many sites now prescribe a custom font which Firefox needs to download. If that is blocked, a standard font is substituted, and if these are not a close match, the results can be unattractive.
To see what font is being used, you can use the Inspector tool. Right-click the headline and choose Inspect Element(Q). This will open a panel at the bottom of the tab. On the left side, the clicked element should be selected in the HTML code of the page. On the right side, you can switch from the "Rules" list to the "Fonts" list to see what font is being used for that element. If you switch back to the Rules list, sometimes you can see what font the page prescribed, but if there are lot of rules, it can be challenging to find....
Either way, if you think Firefox is NOT downloading and using the preferred font, one possible reason is not allowing pages to choose their own fonts. You can double-check this setting in the Preferences dialog:
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences > Content
Click the "Advanced" button and make sure the box is checked to "Allow pages to choose their own fonts". After OK'ing that change, you probably need to reload the page to see any difference.
    Any progress so far?

  • Safari 8 hover does not work over google map location pins

    OS X 10.10.1,   Safari 8,  Java 8-25
I have always had little odd things not work when using safari on a large % of websites I visit,  the latest issues are
no response when hovering over google map location pins, travel site calendars not opening or responding to mouse, drag and drop
show the item being dragged several inches away from the actual pointer, some links don't respond, missing items
or odd layout with print or pop ups going off the screen on some website pages, zooming in and out does not help. I have none
of these issues when using Firefox or Chrome. Been using Safari for 4 years now.

Have you tried a PRAM and an SMC reset? They're longshots, but don't take long to try.
    PRAM: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
    SMC: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Have you run Apple Diagnostics from the disc(s) that shipped with the computer?
Since the problem occurs in all browsers, it still sounds like a video hardware or video RAM or maybe a software issue having to do with layers and rendering.
The map layers aren't getting rendered, or if rendered, aren't getting displayed.
Do you have any browser add-ins? Pop-up blockers?
Since you have two video chipsets, it's possible that might be related to the issue.
This non-Apple website talks about switching between chipsets on the various MacBook models so equipped, and points to a free 'donationware' program for the menubar that lets you easily switch between chipsets:
    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/macbook-pro-unibody-faq/macboo k-pro-unibody-switching-between-graphics-processors.html
Trying to think of other software that might help pinpoint the problem, does the iPhoto Slideshow 'Shatter' template work? Working properly, it 'shatters' images into several color layers and rotates them in and out to build and deconstruct photos.

  • Can no longer operate other apps when Google Maps is giving directions

I have an iPhone 4s and just recently upgraded to IOS 8.02.  I use Google Maps extensively for traveling, along with FStream (Internet radio app).  Up until this update (and a Google Maps update), I was able to reduce Google Maps en route, bring up FStream and choose another station.  Now, when Google Maps is directing me somewhere (using Directions), when I pull up FStream, there is a blue banner on top of the app that says "Google Maps is using your location."  While this is there, you are unable to operate any of the controls (buttons) on the app (and, I'm guessing, any other app).
Now, having also used both Apple Maps (the ill-fated release) and Waze, I know Apple Maps also restricted usage of other apps while it was providing directions.  And, Waze wouldn't allow you to even recite (using the mic) or type in an address while moving (obviously a safety consideration, which I can understand).  I think they reversed that decision in a later release.  But, Google Maps (up until now) at least let you switch between open apps and (in my case, in FStream) change stations.
    My questions are:
    1. Is this an IOS 8 "improvement" or a Google Maps "improvement" (i.e. how do I complain to)?
    2. And, other than having to temporarily turn off "directions" in Google Maps in order to be able to switch stations, is there another fix to this?
    Thanks.
    Richard

Well, I think I've narrowed it down somewhat.  In experimenting with other apps while Google Maps is giving directions, I find that most other apps are working, even with the blue Google Maps banner on top.  So, in summation, I believe it is the old, out-dated, FStream app (which was last updated in 2010) that might be the culprit.  The search begins for another Internet radio app where you can manually enter the station URL.

  • Google Maps won't work on Curve 9300

I know there are a lot of questions about Google Maps, but I have tried every solution I could find online and nothing works for me.
I am able to download the Google Maps application, version 4.5.3. But when I try to load the application, it says "Network Unavailable: This application requires a data connection, and some Blackberry devices require reconfiguration to work properly. Please visit www.google.com/gmm on your computer for more info."
I visited that website and it doesn't give any more information. I have an unlimited data plan through WIND and I am able to access the Internet browser perfectly fine, so the data connection shouldn't be a problem. I have tried downloading the application through my mobile network and my wi-fi network, as well as running it through both networks. Nothing works. Can anyone please help me out? I appreciate it!

You must have the BlackBerry Data Plan. Not a generic unlimited data plan.
I am not sure who your "WIND" carrier is, but I know the Greek carrier WIND dropped support for BlackBerry about a year ago.

The easiest way for me was:
Saving the addresses in the "Contacts".. that way they're always there.
Then, when I'm in Google maps and I start typing the name, it just comes up (with the address) for me to select. It saves me a lot of time!!
You can type either the name or the address and it will come up.
Yes, you can add your own point of interest.

  • HT5429 Can I revert back to ios5 so I can get Google Maps back?

Are there plans to bring back Google Maps for iPad?  I had grown quite accustomed to using Google maps on iPad during my extensive travels, and find the new Apple maps very very lacking!

You cannot downgrade the iOS. There are other Maps apps available in the App Store, you can use Googles web app as well.
