Why are my .m4v downloads not playing correctly on QuickTime 7.0.4?
Can anyone out there help, please? I downloaded the Pixar shorts (.m4v format), which should only play on QuickTime. Except they aren't playing correctly: the picture is fine; the sound is stuttering and off-sync. BACKGROUND: I've got a mother of an Windows XP Pro animation system with DSL. I've tried all the QuickTime Preferences suggested on this website to no avail. Any other suggestions? Thank you.

My system used to play these files PERFECTLY, until I downloaded some shareware video format conversion programs (that didn't work, anyway). I believe one of them installed a shared DLL or CODEC or something that is conflicting with QuickTime. I'VE UNINSTALLED AND REINSTALLED QUICKTIME AND ITUNES COUNTLESS TIMES, trying to follow different people's advice, mostly from posts on this site, but nothing helps!!
The thing we have in common is that it sounds like you also have other video software that could have conflicting CODECs or shared DLLs. DOES ANYBODY KNOW HOW TO TRACK THIS PROBLEM DOWN??
And why doesn't Apple make a CLEAN uninstaller and a COMPLETE installer? People shouldn't have to do the manual registry editing and file deletions that other people are recommending!!!!!

Why are certain sound files not playing correctly in iTunes?
I have had iTunes for years and have never had prolonged or unsolvable problems with anything playback related until now. I recently acquired some music, and it plays perfectly when I use WMP. When I added it my iTunes library, however, the audio is compressed during playback and there is a lot of skipping and blips going on in every song. It still plays perfectly in WMP, but not matter what I do the same thing happens in iTunes.

Video portion of Nightwish DVD not playing correctly on Quicktime. It is not a smooth playback. A little jerky. Is there an easy slution to the problem?
I worded my question incorrectly. It isn't a DVD I'm having the problem with, it' s a Nightwish concert download form iTunes I am having the video portion of the video that plays not smoothy. Like it is moothing it short little segments, not a steady flow!

Why are my rollover images not appearing correctly in my browser?
I have created rollover images for some of my site navigation, and when I view it in my browser, they are not in the correct place on the page. When I click on each rollover, it eventually goes to the right place when I return to that page, but I must do this to all rollover navigation buttons in order for them to show up in the correct place. The links work fine. I am relatively new to this, so not sure if I am providing all the correct info here. My site is www.pfeiferdesign.com. I am using DW CS4. Would appreciate any suggestions!! Why are movies in MobileMe not playing as they used to?
I have for years posted movies (from my Canon camera) on MobileMe (or prior "dot Mac") and had them play back without issue. Now I posted short movies via iPhoto as before and when I try to view them a still picture appears then goes blank while a part of the audio is played and (sometimes) a message appears saying that I might find additional software I need to view this movie at QuickTime Components page. No details given as to just what is missing/needed. What is going on here and how do I overcome this problem?

I assumed that you were using laptop-mode-tools. laptop-mode-tools autosuspends usb devices when the laptop is on battery power. Usually this would only suspend inactive devices but I have been experiencing a kernel bug that causes devices to be incorrectly suspended (exhibiting the same symptoms that you described).
Try adding usbcore.autosuspend=-1 to the kernel command line.

HD video does not play correctly in Quicktime
I have a Kodak Z1275 camera. My PC is a Compaq with Athlon 64 3800 processor. Quicktime version 7.4.1.
When I play videos taken in HD mode, the color is not correct when I play them back using Quicktime. Everything is blue.
When I play them back on the camera, they are fine.
Videos taken in non-HD mode play fine on the PC.
Can anyone tell me what is going on?
ThanksOpen the QuickTime Control Panel / Video tab and check the box to use "Safe mode".
Quit and relaunch QuickTime Player and any open browser and try the file again. -
.mp4 H.264 not playing correctly in Quicktime Pro
Here is all my information:
Format: H.264 Decoder, 720x480 Millions AAC, Mono, 48.000 kHz
FPS: 23.98
Data Size: 1.86 GB
Data Rate: 2695.08 kbits/sec
Normal Size: 640 x 480 pixels (this is the current size too)
The Problem: I have perfect audio, but the video seems extremely choppy and lags. I wanted to do simple editing of some video and I thought that the Quicktime Pro may help this file play better, so I just bought Quicktime Pro to see that it does not help the file play any better. Could there be a setting that I'm missing somewhere? My roommate has Quicktime Pro on Windows and the file plays for him perfectly. The file also plays fine on VLC... I have activated iTunes match and iCloud, now when I go to my Music app and choose me 'best' playlist, I see a button at the bottom of the list that says download all. If I choose this option every song in that playlist begins downloading (near 1,000), this is taking up memory on my phone instead of using the cloud. If i DO NOT download all of the songs they do not play correctly (skipping certain songs, not playing all the way through, etc.) What's this all about and what can I do about it? Why are my songs not just playing through iCloud? I thought that was the point.....
To be honest, you shouldn't need a great 3G service for it to be able to keep up with a song, but if it's a very weak signal then it could be the problem.
Unless you have unlimited 3G then I would recommend using wi-fi anyway, as you could easily run into monthly limits otherwise.
Do you think that it works better with wi-fi than 3G, or just the same? If it is the same then I would have to question whether this is actually your problem.
As to whether you should download songs beforehand, I would say that as a temporary measure it probably makes sense if it's possible as it will download them anyway and that way you get to listen to the music properly. However it does mean that you have to start downloading before you start listening which may be annoying.
I'd be interested to hear whether the performance is better with wi-fi than 3g though. It could be that I'm barking up the wrong tree. -
To whom it may concern, This morning I purchased an album, on listening to it three of the tracks are not playing correctly. I read on an apple discussion board that I should delete them and re-download them. This did not work as I was asked to pay for them, and one of the tracks was an album only track.

As of today, neither sample songs on the music store nor songs already downloaded will play correctly. They are stuttery and slow. I have iTunes 10.5 and have not downloaded any upgrades for anything recently. They were working last night. Thoughts or advice?
I found a solution that worked for me. Here is what I did and where I found it.
"Looks like I tracked down the problem, it worked for me so I hope this works for everyone else experiencing problems. Go to your Task Manager and locate the program APSDaemon.exe (Apple Push)..... if you see this executing terminate the program and then startup iTunes and it should come up fine. You will see afterwards that APSDaemon.exe (Apple Push) starts back up but this is fine as long as iTunes has already started.
I tried playing both music and syncing up my iPhone with no problems. Note if you shutdown iTunes again you will have to terminate the process APSDaemon.exe (Apple Push) again. Haven't had time to see what in the world Apple Push is but this appears to have corrected the problem so that you can at least use iTunes and sync any device that needs to be synced.

Some of my songs on itunes are not playing correctly...
i moved all my music files to my external hardrive, and they were working just fine. but for the last month, some random songs are not playing correctly!! they sound like how a scratched cd sounds (skipping, etc..., and then it just stops and it skips to the next song). the songs were playing perfectly before, it was all of a sudden, and not all, just some of them.)Also, the same songs that are not playing can not be transfered to my ipod... Hypertext links are not always preserved from Word to PDF, using Aperçu or Adobe, depending on OS 10 or Lion. Why? This generally works perfectly in Windows. Why are Apple and Adobe unable to correctly handle links when converting from Word to PDF?
Depending on the system version, and Office Word version:
- a pure URL link starting with http or even www sometimes works in PDF, either produced by Aperçu or Adobe, sometimes does not work;
- other kind of links where the text under display is not a URL, never work!
I like everything with Apple computers and software, except PDF generation. Output files are usually bigger in size, and no better quality, than under Windows. Furthermore, it is weird that something as common as hyperlinks does not work correctly!
I related this question with Mac OS X Snow Leopard, but the problem is still there with Mac OS Lion.

If I understand the problem correctly (I’m not sure I do) you would prefer ‘iii’ to be read as “eye eye eye” rather than “three”? The alt text property is the only way that I know of to make this happen. Hope this helps.

After loading the new OS my songs do not play correctly, is anyone else having this issue? Titles are wrong on songs and it just doesn’t play certain songs in random play or even if you select them individually. What’s up? Kind of frustrating!!!
I had the same issue. In fact I posted it yesterday, but didn't get any replies. I physically synched my phone to PC iTunes. on the PC, under the phone/music tab, I unchecked the synch music box and then the apply button to remove all of the music from my phone. Then once that synch finished, I went back and selected all music, and synch music and apply to put it back on to the phone. So far, I haven't had an issue again, but I also haven't listened very long. Hope this helps!

Installed Itunes: New PC, Windows 7 x64, updated ipod software, click to eject ipod, PC goes to blue screen, dumps data, restarts; songs do not
play correctly on ipod. IE: play a song - only first few seconds will play. Some songs play fully, some do not.Hi just wanted to let you know I solved most of my XP problems with my new IPOD. It won't recognise the IPOD or driver and froze and locked up and then the battery died. After hours of trying different things here is what I did. I completly closed computer down. Waited 15 minutes turned on and reloaded everything. I put the usb cable in but not hooked up to IPOD. I turned off Mcaffee (all of it). After my computer came on. I then went and closed everything I didn't need in the bottom toolbar. (taskbar). I then reloaded the software and waited. Took forever to reload and I don't know why but whatever it worked but I DID NOT HOOK UP THE IPOD LIKE IT SAID! I instead shut down the computer after loading the software and waited 5 minutes and turned it back on. I again waited and shut of mcaffee. It loaded everything fine this time and said new hard ware and drivers detected. I plugged my IPOD in and YES I WAS UP AND RUNNING (THIS IS AFTER 6 HOURS OF PLAYING WITH OTHER THINGS!) I am able to load and play, burn, watch movies, see pictures and everything your suppose too! The only thing I see different than the instructions is I left my usb cable plugged in and when it said to eject the disk I didn't. I also didn't plug in the IPOD (5th Gen) and then I shut down waited and then restarted the computer. I hope this helps others because I know the feeling of wanting to return something you paid dearly for and worked hard at saving money to buy one and it doesn't work. My only thing I dislike about apple is they didn't supply a ac adapter for the IPOD and the instructions say to plug it up when trying to charge battery. DUHHHHHH, ya can't do that if ya don't have one and stores are closed and won' open until Monday! But at least I am up and running. I just hate having to plug up IPOD to computer daily to charge the battery which only last a half a day1
