Why are my new apps in 'limbo'?

Whenever I get apps from the iStore, I click on the Install button on my pc, but instead of installing, the button simply changes to Will Install!
What gives with this? I want the app to install when I click on it, not at some theoretical time in the future...??! Am I doing something wrong? Omitting something?
This occurs with my iPad and my 4S.

  • Why are my new app downloads stuck in waiting?

I know there are quite a few posts on this subject, unfortunately none seem to solve my problem.
    Problem:
When I download apps from the app store, they sit "waiting" for days.
-Happens regardless of one or 5 apps in the queue.
-Wifi is working, I'm not using 3G for this.
    -Tested on 3 wifi networks.
-Tested deleting all pending apps and reinstalling from app store.
-I'm not near my pc to try the syncing to itunes method and would be a bit disappointed if that was the only solution.
    -4xs tried to restart phone.
-Twice restarted (hold home button and power button 10+ secs till Apple logo appears).
    -tried to reset network settings.
None of these worked. Does anyone know what I should do or try?
My setup is iPhone 4s, iOS 5.0.1 and won't let me update any further so that must be as current as it gets. I got the phone about 2 weeks ago and have downloaded about 46 apps and deleted several. I noticed this problem while trying to download/ install Find My Friends.
In advance, you're awesome for helping, thank you thank you!

    Okay, I figured this out.
A podcast in iTunes was not downloading.
Apparently, ios5 will only download one thing at a time and so it sets up a queue that must include all and any downloads: apps, songs, podcast, all of it. So, a tip to anyone with this problem look through all apps that have a queue of downloading items and clear them till you can get your system running again.

  • Why are my new music downloads going to icloud?

Why are my new music downloads going to icloud? I never set it up and dont use it. I just recently purchased a few songs and when I hooked up to the computer is says I have to download them AGAIN to my computer from icloud. Why did this happen? My husband and I share a computer and both have our own id. I couldnt figure out why iTunes was telling me to do this and found out my husbands id was in my iPod.

On your phone, how many of your contacts are in the On My Phone group, or any other group that is not iCloud, and how many are in the iCloud group (382?)
Why are my contacts not backing up to iCloud?
Not the same thing, don't confuse a backup of your phone with an iCloud data account. Backup is a separate function.

  • Why don't new apps appear on the first home screen page?

I like keeping a very minimal home screen (six folders and that's it). Every time I download new apps, they appear on a second page even though there are plenty of slots left on the first page. I then have to move them back - one by one - to the first page again and sort them into folders. Is this a bug, or is there some reason why it should work like this?

From my observation, what you're seeing is the way it works. I have a few empty slots on my first page. When I download apps, they don't go there. They go to whatever page after that has space. I suspect Philly_Phan is probably on to something. I know I only keep the things I use a lot on my first page. I wouldn't want it getting clutter with every free game I downloaded to try out.
You could submit a suggestion to Apple requesting that it work differently:

  • Why is everything new apps in 2014 update?

I thought this was exactly what creative cloud was not supposed to do!!!! This is so frustrating!!!!
I now have duplicate copy's of each app and I have to go through and manually un-install all the old CC version for the new 2014 CC version... I have to install all my plugins and add-ons again!!!! Such a hassle!!!!
Way to ruin the CC update... You screwed up your branding because now it says CC 2014... You should have just left it CC and just had it be an update like it is with any other update... I thought the whole point was that if you had adobe CC you had the latest software version... now I have CC and CC 2014 WTF?????? way to segment your versions!!!! How is this any different from CS5 to CS6 back in the old days?????
    Epic Fail Adobe!!!! Epic Fail!!!

@brandall88 why is it adobe's responsibility to have their update path disrupted because some plugins from third parties won't work? There are full beta's of this software that go out months before anything is released and the plugin developers have access to these to test their plugins and make sure they will be compatible... Why is it the end users that have to deal with all this at launch? We are paying these guys this is their job... Don't make excuses for poor planing whether its adobe or third parties... And there is no difference between a slightly updated app and a completely re-written from the ground up app... Yes certain plugin's might not work in the new app so duh... don't update... simple... But I have had plugin fail from minor updates mid product cycle too... So this is a mute point... Adobe is trying to use this to keep the wool over our eyes...
First, it should be noted that plugin developers HAVE had access to the new architecture and are already working on updates. Some of them are very close. So Adobe has made it available to plugin devs. I am not one, so I can't say for how long, but I know for a fact that the devs are not just now getting their hands on it.
And end users have to deal with stuff like this all the time. It happens in many different software industries. If you think Adobe is the only one to ever handle it this way, you're crazy.
So let's go through a couple of scenarios, and you tell me which one would be a "win" for both Adobe AND the users:
Scenario 1: Adobe decides to update apps with the new architecture, and all future updates, including bug fixes, will have to go through that one version of the app. No old "version" to use on your current projects. If you want to experience any of the new features, you have to sacrifice work you've done previously that involved plugins until each dev catches up. You can't use any of your old plugins. Users get mad, storm the forums, you know the drill.
Scenario 2: Adobe lets you keep the old version around so you can continue to work on your current projects until the plugin developers catch up. But they also allow you to play with the new features and integrate the new power into projects that don't require external plugins. Users get it both ways, but a vocal minority still comes to whine on the forums.
Scenario 3: Please tell me which scenario this is. Please tell me how the users win.
It's not uncommon to update core functionality of a program and give the user the ability to run both the old and the new side by side. It's extremely common in the professional software world. Of course, if you only hang out on the forums for a company, you might think it's the biggest mistake the company ever made. I mean, heaven forbid Adobe make you have two versions installed and let the user have options! Somebody call the media!
I really just can't be bothered too much by it. It's such a small thing to get so upset about in my opinion. Sure, it's an inconvenience, no doubt about it. But you would think Adobe reached in your pocket and stole your jewelry with how upset some people get around here.
The simple truth is that Adobe can't win with it's users. Most people who complain(which likely make up the vocal minority) aren't going to be happy, no matter what.
I think Adobe are boneheads to not TELL people why there are two versions. Honestly, I only stumbled upon the information when I got an email from a plugin developer this morning. Adobe NEEDS to clarify this publicly and explain their reasons behind it all. But they most certainly aren't doing anything evil by giving users a choice.
It's sad too because many of the new features are HUGE workflow improvements and very nice to have. And in the non-forum world, loads of people are happy about it.
I know it would be easy to just say I'm drinking the Kool-aid and getting the wool pulled over my eyes, but the truth is I just refuse to get so upset about such small things. I'm a happy CC user, yes. Things haven't been perfect though, and I know that. It's not the perfect model to use, I agree. They have screwed some things up badly at times. But this? This is so small and petty. Not a major issue to have two versions installed.

  • Why are the factory apps placed in the slots they are in when the phone is factory, what is the significance of their assigned spots

Does anybody have any idea on why the stock/factory apps are placed in the dock and springboard in the slots they are when you do a full restore?

the best answer anyone here can give is "Because that's what Apple decided."
    beyond that, nobody here knows.

  • Why are my wifes apps showing up on my phone?

Unfortunately we share the same iTunes account and have several devices. Lately, her new apps are showing up on my iPhone 5. I have not synced and I am not on the cloud, although she is. I am afraid if I delete the app from my phone it will delete it from the account. I don't understand how these are transferring to me with Cloud off on my phone and no sync.

    Hello Glenrad
It sounds like you have Automatic Downloads turned on. Check in Settings > iTunes & App Store to turn off Automatic Downloads and then whenever she gets an app, you will not see it download on your iPhone.

  • Why are all my apps 32-bit on a Windows 8.1 desktop with 12GB RAM?

Why are all my CC 2014 apps on a Windows 8.1 desktop with 12GB RAM 32-bit instead of 64-bit?
    Thanks

    >don't see anything there regarding 64-bit applications
You need to click on EACH program to read the requirements for THAT program
System requirements | After Effects- Intel Core2 Duo or AMD Phenom II processor with 64-bit support
System requirements | Adobe Premiere Pro- Intel Core2 Duo or AMD Phenom II processor with 64-bit support
And so on... if the INDIVIDUAL page does say 64bit the program does not REQUIRE 64bit

  • Copied my iTunes library to new MacBook Pro, why are my iPhone apps greyed out?

    Hi,
Rather than migrate from an iMac that I sold, I decided to just start fresh on a new Macbook Pro. I did back up my iTunes library and copied it over to the new Macbook. I synced my iPhone and iPad 2 on the new Macbook but the apps are greyed out. When I click the sync apps box all but a few of the apps (I'm assuming the ones that are default with the iPhone and iPad) dissappear.
I'd like the ability to arrange my apps with the Macbook at times and like the idea that I have a backup of all my apps on my computer. I realize I'm backing them up in iCloud, but just sayin'.
    Thanks,
    Bo

Do I purchase an external hard-drive and transfer? Or should I just go and get a 32 GB Flashdrive? Anyone have any tips for doing this stuff?
assuming all your media files are in the default location, connect the two Macs with a firewire cable, boot the source Mac in Target Disk Mode, and copy the entire iTunes folder (not just the iTunes music folder) from <MacintoshHD>/users/yourname/music on the source to <MacintoshHD>/users/yourname/music on the target (overwriting the iTunes folder in place there).
So how can I turn off the library on my iMac and just make it two?
    you can't.
you'll have to wait until you reach the limit of five machines. then you can use the deauthorize all option, following which you can reauthorize those computers you currently use/have access to.

  • Why are my new file contents not read?!

    Hi,
    I have a web application with a StartupServlet. In this Servlet my web application is initialised by reading out a file (init.xml) from disk. When the app server has been started and I modified the contents of the init.xml and reload the StartupServlet the new contents are not read. Only the old file contents are visible at the StartupServlet... The init.xml file is read using the ClassLoader.getResouceAsStream();
Could someone please explain to me why the old file contents are read and not the new file contents???
    dee3lmo

Notice that by simply accessing your servlet again, your servlet won't be reloaded!
Please read the resource from your servlet using the ServletContext, as follows:
    getServletContext().getResourceAsStream("init.xml");
instead of using the servlet's classloader.
This will ensure that you will always read the most recent version of the resource, without having
    to reload your servlet.
    Hope this helps.

  • Why are so many app icons either pixelated or missing?  No photo thumbnails in Photoshop CS6 and missing icons for newly installed applications.

Even after a clean install of new applications and permission fixes and disk repairs, this problem persists.  Apple must have changed some specifications for thumbnail icons in Mountain Lion.   This is a particularly frustrating problem with Adobe Photoshop CS6.  If you attempt to save a CS6 file in any format, the thumbnail image icon just disappears or appears dark, with no image visible.  I have spoken with both Adobe and Apple about this and no one seems to want to accept responsibility, but I'm beginning to believe the issue is with Mountain Lion, as I did a clean install of a Mountain Lion friendly and compatible app today and the end result was that there is no icon for the application.  The application will run, but you cannot see an icon for it in the dock, only the name.  This is absurd!  Seems like paid "upgrades" are now becoming downgrades.   At least that's how I feel when I actually lose rather than gain functionality.

this is happening to me too. if i create a photoshop jpeg file it has no thumbnail icon. the file seems to be there by name only?

  • Why are video production apps not included in Creative Cloud membership?

I took up the offer of getting Creative Cloud cheap(er) for a year (I have a registered copy CS4 Master Collection). However, when I go to the Creative Cloud app download page or the Adobe Application Manager (see below) I am only able to download a subset of the apps that I had in CS4 MC?
    Why?

They are included, your system simply doesn't meet the system requirements. All video apps require a 64bit operating system and from the layout of the title bar alone I can tell that you are on Win XP. So no, unless you upgrade your operating system, AE, PPRo, Encore, AME, Prelude etc. will never show up.

We need an app for the PEF-scale on screen converter in our iPhones and not only in our computors.
A converter between the new PEF Meter Mini Wright EN13826-scale and the old one Wright-McKerrow-scale for to be able to corectly evaluate the standard of our lungs.
    To be honest!
It is a scandal that it is not already a free iPhone app for the on screen converter....

You should contact the company that makes the one for your computer and ask them to make an app for your iPhone.  Apple only makes a couple of apps.  The other million are made by people like you and I or by companies and are posted to the app store.
