Why are my PDF copies so dirty?

I recently updated from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 8.1 (via a download from Microsoft). After reinstalling all of my software, I immediately noticed a SIGNIFICANT difference in the quality of copies I was getting from my Adobe software. Originally, I thought it was an issue with my Neat Scanner software, but after printing my PDF from a different computer, I realized the scanner was not the problem. I have uninstalled and reinstalled all of my Adobe software more than once, but nothing is working. If I open the PDF with Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, I can use clean up the PDF some by using the "Optimize Scanned PDF" option, but it still doesn't come out a clear as it did before I updated to Windows 8.1.
I'm so frustrated! Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Most printing issues are solved by resetting the Printing preferences. When you print from Firefox and you click on the down arrow, do you see Defualt and Firefox? Please make changes to the preferences here and preview the document.

Why are my ".pdf" files not opening in Creative Cloud? The tumbril shows up as a blank page!

I just switched over from Adobe Acrobat Cloud to Creative Cloud; a tedious task. Most of my files open up fine, but some of them show up as a blank page thumb nail. They do have ".pdf" extension. Any ideas as to why this is happening, and what I can do to correct the issue?

@masood131 - A few questions:
Are the pdf files without a thumbnail password protected? (Probably not but just checking since we will not be able to provide a preview for such a file).
If you click on the blank thumbnail to view the individual file page do you see a larger preview image, or is that blank too?
If you refresh the browser page does the thumbnail image show?
If you upload the file a second time do you see a thumbnail image?

Why are the PDF files in v27 bigger than in v25?

I have just created a v27 version of my single iOS app, which has been v25 before. Now the app has a size of about 550 MB instead of about 430 MB. I found out that the PDF files of the slideshows are bigger than before. What is the reason for this change and is there a way to get smaller file sizes again?

No idea? At least someone of the staff should know why the DPS creates larger files now.
There is another issue which indicates that Adobe doesn't care about file sizes. In slideshows the DPS always uses PNG files (if you don't choose PDF files, which are larger now, as I have told you). Of course it is because of transparency, but it would be easy to let the user choose between PNG and JPG like Twixl does.

You should report this via Gold Support who will investigate this. Minor file size changes will always occure on releases, however since you report the size change is significant, there may be some issue and needs further testing.

Why are my pdf vector graphics edges all furry?

I'm printing (and tried simply saving) pdfs from an illustrator file. When I view the pdfs the vector
graphics (eg. a vector logo) are jagged, furry or misaligned at 100% or any similar view. If I zoom
right in on the logo, it gradually gets cleaner lines and better definition, but always looks
a little wobbly and furry around the edges, like its not a true curve or displaying cleanly. Images
are fine within illustrator. Its not my acrobat settings as other pdfs view fine.

I'm going to answer my own question and then ask another.... Why?
When I open just one PDF document it look great. but when i open two, the second
document always has this fuzziness to the edges. Doesnt matter which documents I open

in this screen capture, the one on the right has a furry edge and looks quite rough. Its the document opened second.

Why are my PDFs sorted differently in Bookshelf or Titles view?

I scanned 68 chapters of two med textbooks (2000 pages) so I can access them easier on my iPad.
It works OK but there is one odd thing-after dragging the chapters to iTunes and syncing them, I get different sort orders for the "Bookshelf" view and "Titles" view depending on if I am in ICON mode or LIST view mode (top upper right)
The chapters are each named 01.pdf, 02.pdf, 03.pdf, etc etc.
If I look at them in "List" view, with the TITLES button selected they are all sorted from 01-68 properly.
If I look at them in "List" view, with the "BOOKSHELF" button selected, they randomly populate the bookshelf from top to bottom.
This is the same when I view them in ICON mode. They are all out of order.
I know I can drag them around to re-arrange them, but this is a real pain.
Also- I can't just choose "TITLES" and then click ICON view, it reverts to "Bookshelf view"
I was planning to put more textbooks in. A lot more.
What causes them to be sorted randomly when they are in "Bookshelf" view?
I would like to find a way around this so I can either re-name them properly or adjust whatever meta-data (if anything) is causing this.

Unfortunately this has been an issue with iBooks since day one. Bookshelf view has never been sorted alphabetically. Hopefully in a future update this issue will be resolved...
I personally gave up on iBooks for PDF files because of the inability to sort the Bookshelf view with any consistency. I'd recommend looking into the Goodreader app for storing your PDFs. With Goodreader you can create folders within the app for each book and they will sorted in proper order.

Why are my PDF files so big when I open them or when I print them out? I only see and print half of the document, didn't have any problem on internet explorer

I was trying to print something from the internet and when I did what came out was half of the document. What should have been printed in 1 sheet of paper was printed in 2 and it was only half of the document because the letters and images were too large.
I noticed that when I saved the document from the Internet to my folder the document was in half. I tried to save it again but it didn't work. I tried to fix the printer to see if that was the reason but still I continued to see only half of the document. I tried printing again but still the same thing happened.
I thought it was a problem with my printer but then I remembered that the same thing happened with other PDFs files. I then tried the same thing on Internet Explorer and when I saved the document I saved the whole document not only half of it and the letters and images where not large like when I used Mozilla. I was also able to print the whole document in 1 sheet of paper.
I don't how to solve this problem, thank you for your help and attention

Why are some PDF files created in Photoshop not placing in InDesign CS5?

We are publishers and have used InDesign for over 9 years to create 36+ magazine issues per year. We are currently using CS5 on 8 MAC stations using OS X Vers 10.8.5. We are experiencing difficulty placing some supplied PDF files into InDesign documents lately. We get the following error message when placing the offending PDF file: "FAILED TO OPEN PDF FILE"
This is a new error message that has cropped up the last two months or so. In Acrobat, the file will pre-flight without errors. The files giving us the errors can be converted to Photoshop PSD, EPS or TIFF files and will place just fine. Photoshop PDF files, however, will result in the error.
Can anyone give me an idea what might be causing this issue? Thanks in advance!

Are you viewing your PDFs in Reader or Acrobat, and what version? It sounds like there may have been a change made to the Accessibility preferences. In Reader/Acrobat XI, choose Edit > Preferences (Windows) or Reader/Acrobat preferences (Mac OS), and click the Accessibility category. Is Replace Document Colors selected? If so, try deselecting that.

Why are my pdfs disappearing

I'm downloading PDF files via Safari , opening in ibooks, and its all good for a day or so, then any PDF downloaded or opened from another app such as Google Drive just disappears! All other content is fine, its just PDF's....any ideas?

Just throwing this in the mix. My contacts had disappeared as well a couple of days ago. Very upsetting. I tried a couple of things with no effect. This morning I turned my 4s iphone off, turned it back on. Went to contacts and with no contacts showing as before, I decided i would try adding a new one. I created a contact by the name of test, and saved without further info added and all my contacts came back. Don't know why but that's what happened. Good luck.
P.S. Come on Apple get the fix out on this, between the music app that doesn't play and the contacts disappearing, you're freaking us out.

Why are my PDFs missing?

I deleted Adobe Reader iOS from my iPad while I upgraded my system. I've done this before and when I downloaded Adobe back all my stuff was still there before. However this time everything did not come back and my Adobe Reader is empty. I'm even signed into my account. I backed up my iPad before updating and I though Adobe was an app that was set to be backed up as well but I can't find my PDFs on my laptop or iTunes either. I also thought Adobe was considered storage which was why I had a sign in account to keep my stuff. Is this a lost cause and I somehow screwed up and everything is gone? I don't know what to do or how to even go about looking for my PDFs. I think I did something incorrectly. Can someone please help!

This is not particular to Adobe Reader for iOS.
If you delete any iOS app, the data associated with that app is deleted. That's because iOS separates each app with its data from all other apps.
You're learning a bitter lesson of computing: Whether you're working on a computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone, all data must be backed up. Hopefully, in the future you'll keep a copy of your data in another location. You could do this via iTunes, Dropbox, Acrobat.com, or any number of methods.

Why are the .PDFs and collections on my iPad not on my iPhone

I have several .pdf's and policy manuals on my iPad iBooks however only the Titles are on my iBooks on my iPhone - I have checked tha Syc and the iCloud settings.???

I am using the same Apple ID and the Apple iCloud. Your reply indicates that the documents must be downloaded to both the iPad and iPhone and that if you only download the document to one device it does not automatically appear on the other device - as is with book for example. Am i understanding this correctly? in the iBooks settings what is the "Sync Collections" ?

Why are my PDF file icons/files missing from Docs?

Using Windows Vista 7 -a few years old but never had any problems...
I'm writing a film script on an old version of Final Draft (5) -it was working great until
a few weeks ago. Suddenly, all the PDF icons were gone when I went to look for saved PDF files.
I never write in PDF -it's just the standard way to send a script- however-the system every expects.
I can still "Save as" PDF however, after saving, that file doesnt appear in my list. When I open from
the Acrobat icon in the start menu, only a few files appear. I'm not even sure how I got
acrobat, if it just came free with this computer or if it came with my free trial month in July
when I down loaded Adobe Premiere (video editing) -- I'm ok paying $9 or whatever to sign
up with Adobe "again" but not if I'm just doing something wrong and I already have it.

If something just changed, you might try a repair (open Acrobat and go to Help>repair. Then do updates also.). For more help, provide info on the version of Acrobat and the OS details.

Why are my PDF's opening in Preview instead of Adobe?

My previous iBook opened up my PDF's in Adobe. But my MacBook purchased Nov 2012 is opening up PDF's in Preview. How can I get them to open in Adobe?

Thank you, this only works until system shut down, and on re-start, Preview is again mysteriously the default viewer for PDF's... I can repeat this "Get Info, Change All" sequence, but every time I restart the computer? Seem odd... Any suggestions? Thanks!

Why are emails making copies after moving to subfolder?

Hi guys - I've always been able to solve issues on my own reading through all of your posts but this one has me thrown for a loop. I installed Mavericks yesterday and after doing so, changed my two Gmail-based email accounts from Exchange to Gmail (IMAP). After doing so, everything seemed fine until I received a new email and as I always do, would move it to a subfolder I had created on Mail (as well as in Gmail). In the past, I would drag it to the subfolder from the Inbox and that was that. But now, I'll drag the email to the subfolder, it disappears from my Inbox but a minute later, reappears as well as a copy in the subfolder I moved it to.
I tried to revert to the Exchange based email to see if that would fix it, but to no avail. I have noticed if I delete the email, it will go to the Trash (disappearing from the Inbox), then dragging it from the Trash into the subfolder and it works perfectly. What am I doing wrong?? Thanks for any advice...

You can recover them from the backup you have on Time Machine.
