Why are my photos not syncing from my iPhone6 to my laptop?

What is going on with synchronizing photos from iPhone 6 to windows laptop?
I spend so much time searching for photos, it's ridiculous.
What the heck is iCloud for? I don't get it - nothing works.
I am forced to use Flickr to synchronize my photos, because I don't have any idea what Apple is doing with them.
Ugh! I'm sick of wasting time "fixing" my device - who will figure out a way to make these things WORK???

However, when I open the folder indicated by the article, the photos are NOT there.
The last time my Photo Stream folder updated was April 2014. For awhile, my photos were uploading to a folder called iCloud Photos, with a sub-folder called Photo Stream. The last time that one updated was September 2014. I have the latest version of iTunes and iOS.
So, again, I ask - why aren't my photos synchronizing with my laptop via Photo Stream? I have to connect the phone with a WIRE to my laptop and then I can backup my photos. (Which I do frequently, anyway, in order to save the photos permanently.)
Why don't you guys invent something like Flickr - that AUTOMATICALLY synchronizes photos from my extremely expensive iPhone 6 to my other devices? That would be so handy.
Sorry for being annoyed, but it's annoying. Every time I try to do something with a photo, I have to figure out how to get it off my phone. I email, message, download, save to Dropbox, save to Flickr. It's ridiculous. If Photo Stream worked, I could just use that - it would be so SIMPLE I might actually be able to get to the project, instead of wasting time messing with the stupid photos.
If there's something I'm doing wrong, I wish someone would help me.

First, you're not talking to Apple - this is a users' forum. Second, sync operations work one way - iTunes to iDevice; create and modify your playlists in iTunes, then sync them to your iPhone.

I enter phone numbers on my iphone, but they don't seem to be showing up on my computer, even after I have synced. I have no idea why. I'm thinking of shutting off iCloud (I don't see any benefit to it right now, unless I'm using it wrong), will that help? I'm getting very frustrated having to enter contacts twice (one in my phone when I'm out and about, and another time if I want it on my computer's address book).

It depends on the type of email account you are using, not on iCloud. If you are using an IMAP or exchange account, when you delete from one device, it is deleted from all devices. If you are using a POP (POP3) account, it won't. (iCloud email, Gmail and Yahoo are all IMAP accounts.)

Does anybody have an idea as to why my recently updated Apple TV does not sync my podcasts from my Apple iD. It's supposed to, it's not doing it, and it's very annoying.
This is only half the aggravation; the other half is that all my podcasts have been deleted automatically twice(no apparent reason other than perhaps a bug in iOS 7.0.2 / 11A501).
This one I have managed to comeup with sort of a temporary fix while Apple fixes this: I made a copy/backup of the "Podcasts" folder inside the "iTunes Media" which in turn is in the "iTunes" folder Within the "Music" folder in my Mac. When my Podcasts are deleted, I just drag the backup "Podcasts" folder I created into the My Pocasts in iTunes.
Apple please fix it.

Some photos not syncing from Mac to ipad

I am using iPhoto 11 9.2.1 and iTunes 10.5 and have iPad 2 on iOS 5.1
In iTunes I have selected, sync photos from iPhoto, selected Albums, Events....Events from the last 12 months, Include videos.
Under Albums I have 1 Album checked, Events is Grayed out and only the last 12 months of events are checked. The total picture count is 1276, only about 400 photos are syncing. I upgraded to iOS 5.01 today before doing this sync. Unfortunatly I had not tried to sync these photos prior to the upgrade so not sure if that is a factor.

I had the same issue this morning after the iOS 5.01 upgrade. There was an option to sync photos from a "pictures folder". This worked but the "pictures" folder doesn't have all the organized albums and folders that are in iPhoto. So, working to find a fix for organizing the "pictures" folder since the new iOS doesn't sync from iphoto. Any help on this would be great. I think when I upgraded iPhoto today, the pictures folder may have been created.

Photos will not sync from my Ipad4 to my laptop.

Hi - first time I've synced my Ipad 4 with my laptop. I have 100's of photos but it is only recognising one photo.
I plug in the Ipad but "photos" are not listed as being on the device.
Any help would be much appreciated.

are the photos in the camera roll? Only camera roll photos will show on the Mac. You cannot import synced photos.

Why are Network Settings not Transferring from a Master DMG to the Desitination

Hi people,
can anyone assist me with finding out why Network Settings are NOT transferred from a source Master HD to a DMG to a Destination HD.
I have many hours spent trying to debug this - any pointers to a solution would be greatly appreciated.
Background:
I administer about 400 Macs of mixed types / generations (iMacs - MacBooks - MacBook Pro's).
We create master setups for different locations / purposes around the Campus and transfer these masters to DMGs.
We then clone the various macs as needed from these DMGs using a variety of methods including local (FW800 - USB) and network transfers.
The newest master (staffHD at 10-8-2) works perfectly but trying to clone / copy it by any method leaves out the custom network settings and you only end up with the default Wi-Fi / Ethernet / Firewire with total loss of the additional services and custom proxy settings.
Methods used to date to try the transfer (all get the same null result)
to-from DMG using Disk Utility
to-from Sparse Image via Disk Utility
to-from DMG using Carbon Copy Cloner
to-from Sparse Image via Carbon Copy Cloner
direct to 'target disk' via FW800 using Disk Utility
direct to 'target disk via FW800 using Carbon Copy Cloner
direct to 'target disk via FW800 using rsync -aHv
direct to 'target disk via FW800 using cp -Rv
Everything BUT the network settings transfer perfectly (excluding of course the usual trackpad / mouse custom settings).
I guess something is wrong with this master source but for the life of me I can't work it out. I have seen it in the past but it seemed to work itself out with the next revision - this one just wont.

thanks for the reply - I suspected a hardware issue or some sort of privledges problem, but as far as I know have only had this problem with Mountain Lion, and it still fails on hardware like to like transfers. I was hoping to avoid needing anything addidtional but it looks like I'll have to.

Why are protected fields not-accessible from sub-classed inner class?

I ran across a situation at work where we have to sub-class an inner class from a third-party package. So, it looks something like this...

Variable x in class SomePackage.Outer not accessible from inner class NewOuter. NewInner.You can still access those protected variables from the NewOuter class though. So, I can write accessor methods in NewOuter for NewInner to use, but I am wondering why this is. I know that if NewOuter/NewInner are in the same package as Outer/Inner then everything works fine, but does not when they are in different packages.
I have to use JDK1.1.8 for the project so I don't know if there would be a difference in JDK1.2+, but I would think that nothing has changed. Anyway, if you know why Java disallows access as I have detailed please let me know.

Although I don't have the 1.1.8 JDK installed on my system, I was able to compile the following code with the 1.3.1_01 JDK and run it within a Java 1.1.4 environment (the JVM in the MSIE 5.5 browser). Why are my tags not syncing for a shared email account? IE One person tags an email as "Work" but it does not show on other users Thunderbird.

Subject says it all for the most part.
A shared email account we'll call "[email protected]" is not syncing tags across other end users Thunderbird. User A will tag an email as Work but it will not sync/show on anyone else's application. I've read that Thunderbird stores tags locally now? Is there a way to sync them up to our IMAP server? Or would we have to revert to a previous version of Thunderbird (if so which)?

the issue is probably that the server does not support tags..... Thunderbird stores them locally, but syncs them were the server supports it.

Why are my photos not as sharp when I import them into Facebook from the Aperture Projects file, compared to when I 'share' them with Facebook within the Aperture programme? There is a noticeable difference and has been spoiling my photos for some time.

Hi all, I take wildlife photos (mostly birds) as a hobby, and have become frustrated with the quality of my photos recently when shared online, particularly Facebook.
I started blaming my camera ( a Canon 7D) as I changed it a few months ago from a Canon 550D, and I soon noticed that the images were not as good. Then I realised it was when I started using Aperture.
I started by using the 'share' option within Aperture but I soon realised that then I have no control over the creation of an album, and the photos start appearing on facebook before I have finished uploading them and given them captions. Plus if I subsequently move them or export them to my back up drive then they disappear from Facebook!
So I started creating albums within Facebook and then importing the photos from the aperture projects file on my computer. Because they are imported I can then delete or move the aperture file and the photos stay on facebook. Otherwise my macbook was becoming completely full.
However to test my theory I have today uploaded the same photo edited in Aperture stored in the same projects folder using the two different methods described above, and there is a very distinct difference between the quality of the two images. The shared ones are very much sharper than the imported ones.
I am a computer novice and don't know how to check what the quality settings are, or how to adjust anything to improve the way the photos go into facebook. I do have a manual but I just cant understand it :-(
I have tried a free sample of Lightroom 5 and my photos look amazing, there is such a difference, but I don't want to give up with Aperture unless the problem really can't be solved.

Generally I would not use Facebook for sharing any photos, it compresses the photos substantially, and when you have shadows and dark colours you get visible "bands" where there should be subtle gradients, ie at sunsets and sunrises.
It sounds like you are using two methods to upload to Facebook:
1. Sharing from within Aperture, which basically syncs Facebook with your Aperture album, so any changes made at either end gets synced, hence the deletions from Albums, although the original file should still be in your library, just removed rom the album. It is like a playlist in iTunes.
2. Exporting pics and uploading to Facebook from the browser.
I am not sure how method 1 gets compressed, but I know that uploading hi-res jpegs to Facebook using method 2 results in poor quality images.
I wouldn't even bother comparing option 1 or 2, and they will both be poor images once you view them on Facebook, as opposed to viewing uploaded images on proper image sharing / hosting sites.
Your problem is not with Aperture, it is using Facebook for showing your work.
If you export pics form Aperture at high res jpegs or TIFFs your images will be fine.
If you insist to use Facebook as your way to share your work, then your workflow should be this:
1. Right click images you want to share.
2. Select Export version.
3. Export as 100% size and ensure the export settings are set at 100% quality.
4. Upload this pic into Facebook.
This will get you the best image size and resolution on Facebook.
See how you go.

Why are my photos i receive from iphoto and aperture such poor quality? On my iMac, they look fine, but when i get the pictures, they are awful. The color looks like there's a gray fog on them, and they're not focused well.

I use 2 great cameras, download them to iphoto, and now trying aperture. I edit the photos, they look fine, order pictures, and they are terrible! Looks like there's a gray haze on them, their dark, color is awful. Please help me out here!

What service are you using?
What is the color space of the image? If it is AdobeRGB, try using sRGB.

Why Are My Apps Not Syncing

I just updated my iPad software, synced iTunes, and the preview shows the apps on my iPad, but when the sync is complete, I'm not seeing the apps on the iPad.
Secondarily, from iTunes, I can't click "sync apps" when I have the iPad plugged into the computer. So I'm not able to add new check marks next to apps I might want to sync.
Any thoughts?

Have you tried swiping from screen to screen on the iPad to see if the apps appear anywhere at all. Did you try the spotlight feature on the iPad to see if they are there somewhere?
Do you have Restrictions enabled on your iPad? If so, that may be why the Sync Apps option will not work.

Photos not syncing from iPad to iPhone through iCloud

Hi,
I synced some old photos from my laptop (windows 7) through iTunes to iPad. iCloud is setup on my iPad 2 and iPhone 4S. The photos by default did not go to PhotoStream and i think that's the reason why they dont sync up with the photos on my iPhone even when I am in Wi-Fi zone.
Is there a way I could move the photos from iPhoto to PhotoStream on my iPad so that they sync up on my iPhone.
please suggest if I am getting the issue totally wrong and it is something I am missing here.

You don't have the issue wrong, I can totally see what you're thinking. It would be nice if Photo Stream worked that way, but Photo Stream only adds the photos you take with the device's camera after you take them. It stores the last 30 days of photos, or up to 1,000 (which is pretty good, if you think about it).
You can remove all the photos from your entire Photo Stream by going to iCloud on your computer, choosing Advanced in your account, and option "Reset Photo Stream".

Why are Apps still not syncing between my iPhone 4S and iPad 4?

I have a new iPad 4 and I also have an iPhone 4S. I have enabled 'Automatic Downloads' on both, but for some reason, I can download Apps on one device and they're not showing up on the other. The only thing I can figure is that maybe some of the Apps downloaded on the iPad, for example, aren't compatible with the iPhone 4S and therefore they don't automatically download. Or, and I hope note, there's a glitch in the system :-(
I like to have all my stuff sync'd to the extent possible, but this automated App synchronization doesn't really seem to be happening as advertised.
And yes, I did go into iTunes on my PC and enable the automatic downloads there as well on the Preferences tab.
Some example Apps that didn't download from my iPad to my iPhone are USA Today, Men's Health Mag, UPS and Quick Scan barcode scanner.
Any help is much appreciated.

I may recall that you might have to charge your device in order for the automatic download to work. But I'm not 100% sure, it is worth trying out.
