Why are my photos suddenly in JPEG format when taking them from camera card to IPHOTO - which then wont let me download into a file! Help been doing this for years and something has suddenly changed in the last 2 days to my camera? or IPHOTO??
I am away for a year and have been downloading pictures from my camera - a FUJIFILM EXR compact for the last 15 weeks into files on my mac using IPHOTO no problem...suddenly in the last 2 days I have tried to do this and IPHOTO opens the pictures ok but wont downoad them as they are now JPEG? have I switched something over inadvertently or what - help please!!!! many thanks

over the last years- but 15 weeks specifically I have downloaded photos from my camers card- putting it straight into the apple mac and then opening IPHOTO then i am able to click and put the pics into my folders in IPHOTO but as of 2 days ago - the camera card went in, the pics opened BUT there is an error message which states iphoto cannot save them to file......as they are JPEGS
I can see that others too have had this issue and there are 'answers' but I am a complete novice and cannot understand the answers given and need someone to 'hand hold me' through a step by step this is what you must do....
so hope that now is cleared as to why there is a 'problem'

this new search engine is incredibly convoluted, and i put some real thought into why it's bad
the dropdown menu contains more things than it used to. previously only a list with icons and titles and a link to options...now only icons (with no options to include text), a reiteration of your terms and current engine, separators between each icon, and loads of potential results from auto-complete (which i disabled immediately). though taking up less space by forcing icons only, more things were added, giving the user more clutter in less space.
having a permanent default search engine is counterproductive to the feature's previous nature. this was supposed to be there so i can quickly change between websites i'm searching, now it's been equated to the search feature in the address bar (which i am now also unable to change the function of on the fly, as changing the search engine used would also change the address bar's search function - perhaps influenced this change?). it's now faster for me to type the website i want followed by my terms into the address bar, just like when i use chrome. this feature was one of the largest reasons why i preferred firefox over chrome
i would commonly leave my search engine on merriam-webster when writing papers, wikipedia when doing research, etc. and now i have to click which one i want. every time. with every search that isnt default, unless i change my default through the options constantly. this is incredibly tedious. most irritating of all is the inability to use hotkeys to select my search engine, the lack of ctrl+up/down. previously i wouldnt have to use my mouse often at all, which is imperative for laptop users
so yeah, ive put some real thought into this, and i'm very unhappy. this greatly hinders my browsing experience. heard the saying "if its not broken, dont fix it"? ive been using chrome in conjunction with firefox for a few years now, and it's been painful to see mozilla attempt to imitate it. i will be using chrome more often in the absence of this feature (i am right now, even). i'm also upset that i was unable to find a public message boards hosted by mozilla to voice my opinion, and i apologize to whoever customer support employee that (probably didnt) read this - please pass it on to the devs and tell them internet people are angry and said they fucked up. thanks.
and i beg you, please give us the option to revert back to the old interface in future updates, or at least an official extension overriding this awful update. i realize i cant request this really, and yes im upset, yes im sending an angry email - thats because this is something i use often and i am passionate about it

pissedYou can use the Tab key to select a search engine on the bottom bar and press Enter to use the search engine to do the search.

In the current Firefox 34 release there is a new "one-off" search bar.
This search bar doesn't show the name of the search engine and a logo.
You can type one letter to make a drop-down list appear where you can see suggestions and see the used search engine and that also has bar at the bottom where you can select other search engines that are enabled via the Search tab in Options/Preferences.
You can use the Tab key to select one of the other available search engines and press the Enter key to search with the selected search engine.
Click the search engine icon and click "Change Search Settings" to open the Search tab in Options/Preferences (positioned between Tabs and Content) to select the default search engine and select which search engines to show in the search bar drop-down list that opens when you start typing search terms. -
For the umpteenth time, I've cut some huge chunk of text out of a dialogue box only to lose it following a momentary lapse in concentration. With all the 'it just works' propaganda I've heard and repeated over the years, I'm dumbfounded that Apple engineers have not caught up yet. Windows has had this built in functionality forever. And please don't tell me 'there's a third party app'. This is basic. C'mon Apple, earn my business.
The 'clipboard manager' would need be aware of which program was currently active and either hide or gray out clippings which could not be pasted into the selected document/field/project/track.
It's not up to the OS, or the clipboard manager to know what data types can be pasted into any given destination - the application does that.
In actual fact, the current clipboard implementation already supports storing multiple data sets - for example, if you copy text from a word processor, the chances are it's copied in multiple formats - there may be a rich-text version that includes font and style data, as well as a plain-text version with just the raw text. It's up to the receiving application as to which data is retrieved when you paste.
(yes, I realize this is a slightly different issue from multiple clipboards, but it does pertain to storing multiple objects on the clipboard).
I use a few built in multi-key shortcuts on a regular basis, the first one that comes to mind being ⌘⇧Z (redo).
Ahh, but that's not the same thing - or at least not what we're talking about here. That's just a modifier (shift) applied to the ⌘Z.
In this case what State and I are referring to is one technique implemented by at least one third-party app. Let's say your clipboard manager supports 10 clipboards - called Clipboard 0 through 9. To copy something to a specific clipboard You press the ⌘ key and C (to copy), and while still holding the ⌘ key you press the number of the clipboard you want to copy to - so to copy to clipboard 5 you ⌘-C-5.
Similarly to retrieve something from a specific clipboard, you press ⌘ plus V, then the number of the clipboard you want.
The problem with this approach (and I've used such a beast in the past) is that it really gets in the way of your workflow, because the copy (or paste) isn't effected until you let go of the command key. So now you can't use ⌘-C followed by ⌘-Tab to switch applications - you have to ⌘-C, let go of both keys and then ⌘-Tab. Sounds minor, I know, but try it sometimes - you'll be astounded how often you hold that command key between multiple commands. Implementing a system-wide 'feature' that requires you to release the command key to effect the command is a real distraction.
Just watch yourself use command keys in daily life - see how you learn and expect an immediate response when you press the relevant letter/number key. Imagine what it's like if that action waited until you let go of the command key.
Ultimately I think multiple clipboards is something that a subset of users could benefit from on a regular basis (I use one myself), but is a user-specific/custom requirement and therefore a task best served by third-party apps. -
I have been using Safari for years and have always kept it on "private." Starting two days ago, I suddenly found myself unable to log onto my blog and many other sites that I normally log onto when private is set. This so annoying, I just switched to Firefox. I don't like Firefox nearly as much as I like Safari. What is happening? How do I fix the problem?

Type or copy paste the following:
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test. -
My Verizon Cloud says "Content is pending for backup" and (Update pending), but it's been doing this for over a day now. The number of photos hasn't changed and I have 26GB of space. What's going on?

We want to make sure your photos are backed up successfully! Have you tried to stop the process and start it again? You can stop the process by stopping the Cloud and backup process completely in Settings>Applications>All>Verizon Cloud>Force stop. One it has stopped make sure you care connected to WiFi and try the backup again.

I am trying to convert PDF to Word with Adobe Export PDF on my PC. I get the message " error occurred while trying to access service". Has worked fine in past. Has been doing this for a few days now on all files i try to convert. Any ideas?? Thanks

Are you trying to convert your files from within Adobe Reader? If so, please make sure that you have the most current version by choosing Help > Check for Updates. Earlier versions of Reader could cause the specific error that you're reporting.

Why cant i access my Yahoo emails?

It has been doing this for a week and the music is faint while the static is louder than it. I try plugging it in to my iTunes and when I un-plug it, it still makes the loud static noise. I have also tried tapping my knuckle on the back of my ipod nano. This has not damaged it at all nor caused this to my ipod. There is no water damage to the ipod. Only a few scratches from a couple drops. The drops have been on concrete but not at a very high distance. How to I stop this? Do I need to replace my ipod instead?
Have you tried a different pair of earbuds/headphones to rule out a pair of damaged/faulty ones? You might also want to make sure the headphones are securely and firmly seated in Nano's headphone jack. Lastly, check the headphone jack for any signs of debris or damage. You may need to have the headphone jack replaced either by Apple or a third party repair company.
I assume this static is present on any track you listen to versus only particular ones?

my ipod wont turn on. the white apple with the bite appears, stays for about 10 to 15 seconds like it normally does for booting up, then fades away and the screen goes black. 5 seconds later it repeats. it has been doing this for hours now. I tried the home and power button thing and the screen went black. then i hit the power button and it continued to do the same thing. i tried plugging it in to my wall, my charger recognised that it was charging. i tried plugging it into my computer and it made a sound like something was plugged in. but nothing came up.
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer

This is a major problem with Lollipop, but yo said it started 2 months ago. Several people have fixed problem by removing FaceBook And Face book messenger and then re loading the apps again. You might want to clear your cache before reloading. Not sure this is your problem, but worth a try. Good Luck
