Why are my sent e-mails staying in my Drafts folder?

I have an iMac OS X 10.9.1. When I send e-mails (EM) from my Google IMAP accounts, the sent EM stays in my Drafts folder.
I went to Preferences and then the Accounts and changed the criteria to Not store draft messages on the server. I then Save the change. When I go back to the account, the change has not been saved.

Hi JP  -  My 3 e-mail providers are Gmail, iCloud & GoDaddy, they use IMAP.
Mail used to check for new mail automatically every minute and it would come in with a prompt time stamp.  Now I can have e-mails store-up for 2-3 hours before they come in.  People will ask if I got their e-mail because of no reply.  Pushing the refresh (send/receive) button doesn't bring them in, I have to quit the Mail program and relaunch it or "take all accounts offline" and then "take all accounts online" before they will come into the inbox, and with old time stamps.

  • Why are my deleted emails only staying in the trash folder for a month? How can I find older deleted emails?

my trash folder is only showing emails back to April 28th.

Does the account use POP, or IMAP?
If IMAP, your Trash folder is almost certainly on the server and as such, may be subject to the email provider's policy on trash/deleted folders.
Check what your provider's rules are on trash retention. You may be permitted to adjust the period for which they are held. Alternatively you can set Thunderbird to use a trash folder under your Local Folders account which will be on your own hard disk and thus invisible to your email provider.
And of course check the settings in Thunderbird for what to do with deleted messages. You can set it to automatically remove messages after a defined period. Look under Tools|Account Settings for deletion settings.
OTOH, if you're routinely deleting messages and relying on them being kept indefinitely, I'd suggest you rethink your procedure and not delete them until you're confident you no longer need them. Recycle bins, waste bins and the like are the first to go when disk space gets tight. Most email providers have a policy of automatically removing messages over a certain age from the Deleted folder, specifically to manage and reduce disk space usage.

  • Message tracking log of internal users who are all sent the mails to external domain

    Hi ,
How can i get the message tracking log from internal users to external users?

Sankar, your outbound send connector has an address space of *. So when you run "Get-SendConnector", you will see something like the following:
    Identity                                AddressSpaces
    Enabled
    Unix System Connection                  {SMTP:*.domfreebusy.contractor.hunti... True
    Outgoing SMTP Connector
    {SMTP:*;10}                             True
    Mailbox Journaling Connector            {SMTP:pdwastap01.huntington.com;1}      True
The middle one with the {SMTP:*;10} in my case (you may have a different number than 10 in yours) is my outbound connector. So yours will show an address space of {SMTP:*;<some number, 10 is the default>}. HTH ...

  • Why are there no sounds located in the Library/Sounds folder in Home Directory? My Mail alerts, etc

Why are there no sounds located in the Library/Sounds folder in my Home Directory? Since upgrading to Mountain Lion most of my sounds are not working, in my Mail alerts, etc.

Did you put any sound files there? Because if you didn't, that will explain why it's empty.
The ~/Library/Sounds folder is where any sound files that you add go, and they are only available to you as the "logged in" user (if you have other users with their own accounts, they each have their own ~/Library/Sounds folder). Apple doesn't put anything there.
The sounds that come with Mac OS X will either be in the /Library/Sounds folder (which is the shared location for all users) or the /System/Library/Sounds folder (don't mess around with anything in the /System folder!).
But I doubt your problem has anything to do with the sound files. Try deleting your sound preferences file, or even just clicking around in the Sound system preferences until they start working again (seriously - I had one Mac that had some audio problems after upgrading, and just turning things off and on a few times eventually worked. It seemed somehow tied to Dictation, so try twiddling those settings too).

  • Why are there no CC Apps in my Creative Cloud Folder?

Why are there no CC Apps in my Creative Cloud Folder? Just finished cramming Adobe Creative Cloud Flash Professional info. Tried to use it and found that it wasn't in my Apps Folder, nor anywhere else. During my search I discovered that none of the other CC apps were there either. All CS6 Pro apps are there, but no CC.

Could you try to scroll down a bit and look into the "Find New Apps" section. I have attached a screenshot for your reference.
In case you still do not see any CC applications, login to https://creative.adobe.com/products and try to download any CC app and then check if it gets installed and you see it under the "Your apps" section of CC desktop app.

You may also want to check your space available as you only get 5GB free.  It's unlikely that this is what you are experiencing, but it can certainly cause you not to receive any emails that don't fit.

  • Why are photostream photos on phone not going into photostream folder on PC?

I have an Iphone 4s. I am a new user.  I have 518 photos in my photostream (PS) according to my phone. I have chosen the appropriate settings - like my photostream is on under the iCloud setting and wifi automatically connects when it's in range.  Also under iCloud settings and Storage & Backup, iCloud Backup is on and I told it to backup (with it plugged in and locked as instructed). I installed the iCloud control panel on my PC-Windows Vista this evening for the first time.  Now there are about 35 photos in my PC's photostream folder.  I did the iCloud back up on my phone again.  Same 35 photos in the PC's folder.  Why aren't all 518 photos in the folder?  Should there be a delay?  Should I leave my phone on, my PC on, and the wifi connected all night to see what happens?  I don't get it!

I just noticed the post has me down as running windows 7. I have a iMac running mountain lion.

  • TS3276 Lion mail;  sent emails show up in the draft folder as well as the sent folder.  Often the draft will appear a day after the email was actually sent

    Lion mail
Emails that have been Sent show up in the Draft folder as well as th e Sent folder.
Often they may not show up in Draft folder until the next day.
Is there a correction for this?

no,  I only use mac as my incoming and outgoing server.
What I did was un check the draft box in the mail preferences,
and will see if that works.  Since I use only the computer for emails
the cloud isnt being used to its max anyway.

  • Yosemite Sent mail also appears in draft folder

Every time I send an e-mail a copy of it appears in my "drafts" folder even if I've not saved it.  Do I have a setting wrong?
This has started happening since I installed Yosemite.
Also if I try to "delete" an e-mail nothing happens.
    Suggestions?  Thanks!

Thanks Glenn!  I have no idea how I managed to check that box and sure wouldn't have know to look there. I appreciate your help!

  • Mail Messages Going To Drafts Folder

Almost every mail message I compose - both new messages and replies - are showing up in the Drafts folder.  These seem to be identical to messages after they are sent and appearing in the Sent folder.  I'm not saving them at any time, so why would these messages go to "Drafts"?
    Thanks,
    JD

While indeed unchecking this option stops the behavior, it's not the best of solutions.  The options to save drafts on server is available with any decent IMAP program, and generally is very beneficial.  Say I start a message on my Mac, and then have to leave before it's done.  If it's saved to the server, I can then pick this message up later on my iPhone or iPad and complete it and send it.  Or I can start it on an iOS device, have it save to the server from there, and then pick it up on my Mac later to complete.
So, the functionality of "Save drafts on server" is widely known amongst IMAP clients, and it would be nice if Apple Mail would simply replace a previous draft of a particular message with the latest version rather than piling up multiple versions of the email.  Also, it's customary that when you eventually send the message, the drafts also disappear.
It would also help if there was a way to increase the auto-save time to a longer setting so that they don't pile up so fast.

  • All my sent messages showing up im my drafts folder

I have 2 IMAP accounts set up in Mail. They all work fine, except that every email that I type (sent or not sent) shows up in my Drafts folder for that account. I have to go in once a week and delete 100+ drafts. It has made it very hard to actually use the drafts folder.
Mailbox Behavior for Drafts is set to "Store draft messages on the server" and for Sent is set to "Store draft messages on the server", Delete "Never"

Same issue. You get each draft with more and more words from the email as it seems to save every couple of words. Instead of saving just one file, it saves a new one for each draft autosave. Also, they stay there when you've sent the email itself.
It is only with IMAP. I've never had problems with Apple Mail, but there seems to be numerous problems with it and IMAP accounts - as seen on this forum. They are serious as we use email as a major mode of communication.
There is actually not one properly solved discussion about IMAP and Apple Mail in this forum. Does anyone know how we go about getting some 'official' assistance regarding the general IMAP woes of Apple Mail. Is there somewhere I can bullet point the outstanding bugs and common problems?

  • Sending all e-mails out of the draft-folder

Is it possible so send all e-mails in the draftfolders at once? I know is possible with an AVB but do I have to use it also for outlook 2010.
    thank u

    Hi,
Just as our MVP mentioned, it's not possible to send all email in a folder at once. However, there are some workarounds. For example, we can disable “Send immediately when connected”. To do this, open your Outlook and go to File > Options > Advanced
    > Scroll down to the "Send and receive" section. Clear the check box before "Send immediately when connected". Now, all sent items will stay in Outbox and Outlook will
only send messages during the scheduled send/receive interval (for instance, every 30 minutes).

    Hope this helps.

  • Email sent from ActiveSync Device Goes to Drafts Folder

Issue: Sending an email from an activesync device (Android using native email app or iPhone) moves the sent item to the drafts folder in Outlook without actually sending the email.
Scenario: Outlook is open on the individuals workstation and they are not in cache mode.  Individual sends an email from the activesync device and the email is in the drafts folder in Outlook and message is not sent.
Placing user into cache mode resolves this issue.
Having Outlook closed resolves this issue as well.
    Environment: Exchange 2010, Outlook 2007
The research I have completed on the internet points to CRM but I have verified there is no Outlook add-in for CRM installed.
    Has anyone else seen this?

Has anyone else seen this? I have one user that is on Exchange 2010 and is using an iPhone and iPad and
was experiencing this issue. We were able to resolve it by exporting his mailbox, deleting it and recreating. It was working for about a week and now the problem has reoccurred. Anyone know if there is a permanent fix for this? We haven't gotten anywhere with
    Microsoft.
Note: When this problem is occurring, the same issue happens in Outlook Web Access. Sending a message from
OWA also sends the item into the DRAFTS folder and the mail is never sent.
We do not use MS CRM btw.

  • Mail remaining in the Draft-Folder after sending

When I write a mail that takes more than 10 minutes, it is automatically saved in the Draft-Folder.
Then, when it has been sent, it remains in the Draft-Folder.
If I relaunch the Mail-program, this same mail is twice present in the Draft-Folder (!!!).
This makes no sense, since the message has been sent.
Is that any new Bug with Mail and IMAP-protocol?

    I have the same problem.
    When I send an email
    - one copy goes to the draft folder an another copy of the email goes to the sent folder.
I believe the copy in the draft folder is a ghost.
I went to my online goggle mail and saw the email was sent.
