Why are PDFs not opening?
A course was published with several PDFs using Presenter 7. The PDFs open when viewed on the LMS.
In an effort to decrease file size I've gone back into the course using a newly purchased version 8 and added PDFs that were lower in file size. The course is republished locally (I also worked locally), uploaded to the LMS and tested. Of the 16 PDFs I can get 1 or 2 to open- that's it.
I've tried deleting the resource folder and deleting the files seen under Settings and starting fresh with the same outcome.
I've also manually added the PDFs to the resource folder with the same outcome.
What am I missing?
If you are trying to open the PDFs when testing by playing the content from your local C drive, you are likely encountering Flash Security Settings blocking the links.

I recently modified my Adobe Reader 9.1 (with instructions from the bank) to be able to electronically sign documents.
Since then I can not open any PDF documents from email. I went back and reversed the changes I made. I uninstalled Adobe and reinstalled it. No luck.
I have to save the documents and open them from Windows Explorer.

In Firefox:
Open Tools > Options > Under Main tab click Save files to > click Browse
Scroll up or down to find where you want it to go (I put mine under Documents because it's the easiest to find).
Click New folder and label it something you will quickly recognize.
Now when you click on a PDF attachment it will automatically be sent to that file and you can double click or open
it in Adobe Reader

(Note) If I use Internet Explorer (I have not used IE in years) I can open PDF's from Hotmail with out a problem.
I like Firefox better so I will continue to use the quick workaround until somebody finds a fix.
If you use IE, here are the instructions for saving PDF files.
Click
to open Windows Mail.
Open a message that contains an attachment by double-clicking it
in the message list.
In the message window, click the File menu,
and then click Save Attachments.
Select the folder where you want to save the attachments.
By default,
Windows Mail saves attachments in your
Documents folder. If you want to save the attachments to a different folder,
click Browse, and then select a folder.
Select the attachments that you want to save, and then click Save.

Please adviseI am using mail. I also did not install the Lion OS at the same times on my mac pros.. to ensure Lion was working proplerly I only isntalled on one then used it a few days then installed on other. pdfs did not come into play until today. Like I said I checked to make sure it was not mail routing issue or server, as I checked them on 2 of my laptops on different locations. This is something Lion is doing with out a doubt in my mind. If I am wrong so be it, but this is not about being right it is about me getting business done. I will gladly be wrong if it is fixed.

Why are applications not opening?
when i click on applications they just bounce for a while, but never open. also, my desktop has no items on it(it did before) and there is no menu bar at the top. nothing happened to start this, i just logged in and it was like this. i have tried restarting the computer several times but nothing has helped.

PDF files are extremely reliable. You may have a software issue. I have the problem on 2 identical systems with the exact same specs. The problem occurs at the same exact interval. It may be a windows update. We have had to re-install software form the DVD in each instance. This fixes it for awhile and then it recoccurs. Adobe acts as if they have never heard of the problem...imagine that. I'm the only one with th problem.
This is happens with CS6 volume lic product.
If you dont own Adobe product it will be even more difficult to find and answer as the reader is used my so many people.
We know we have the problem again when we double click opn a PDF and nothing happens. SOme have reported that reloading does not fix the problem.
Wish I could help you. I am looking for answers to this issue right now and phone support is a 30 minute wait.

Well then, as I wrote in the headline... Why can I not open PDF-files?
I get a notification that says that either the file is already open (which it's not) or it is missing a plug-in thingy for this kind of file.
So, how do I know which plug-in thing I should chose from Adobe which will solve my problem?
Could it be enough just to update the program? I tried with 6.0.6. upgrade but it wouldn't even open up. I'm not so good at this type of computerproblems (choosing upgrades, plug-in etc.). The program is not upgraded for a long time, unless it do it automatically, but I think we've chosen it not to....
Please help!

You still haven't given us much to go on? Are you opening these files from a website (clicking on a link)? I'm assuming they are pdf files, correct? If so, what web browser and operating system do you have?

Why can I not open a stated InDesign CS8.1 document when mine says it is InDesign CC version 9.1? I have creative cloud.
The version error messages are really screwed up and out of sync with the new naming (CC) system. CS8.1 would be CC2014 version 10.1

Why are cookies not deleted when I close Firefox?

My problem is that I set Tools / Options / Privacy / History to "Use custom settings for history", and then under cookies I set Keep until: to "I close Firefox".
Yet, when I close my browser and restart none of the cookies are deleted. If I save my tabs, I stay logged in on the websites that are open on the saved tabs. But even if I close the website, and then quit. And then reopen the website after launching Firefox again, I am still logged in. Whereas Firefox is set not to remember any of my usernames or passwords, so the only way this can happen is via cookies. Therefore, the cookies are not deleted. But I can also see it in the list of cookies: it's full of old stuff.
So why are cookies not deleted despite this setting?
Firefox has beeen pretty soft on privacy lately, and frankly I don't understand why. The possibility to have history older than X days automatically deleted has also been gone for a long time, and now this cookie setting doesn't work, either.Hi madperson,
I turned this setting on a long time ago. Basically, it's one of the first things I do after installing my OS and Firefox. So there shouldn't be so many old cookies there.
But anyways, just now I deleted all the cookies manually via Tools / Options / Privacy / Show Cookies / Remove All Cookies to be sure that all the old stuff is wiped out. And yet it still doesn't work.
I logged in to my Gmail account (the Remember Me box ain't checked), closed the tab containing my Gmail account and then closed Firefox. After that I verified in the Task Manager that firefox.exe is indeed not running anymore. So Firefox definitely shut down properly. Then, I restarted Firefox and opened a tab, entered gmail.com, and I was still logged in, therefore the cookies were not deleted.
I have the 10.1.101.000 version of ZoneAlarm, which as it turns out after googling it is indeed not the latest version (it was released in March 2012). The ZoneAlarm Firefox add-on that automatically comes with the firewall is disabled in Firefox.
